1st Day of Christmas

It's currently quite chilly where I am and with the heater cranked up, trying to work the partridge body in one go was beyond me. So I did it in sections. Then the gum in my new goethite decided it was far too cold and sued for separation. So I squeezed some out onto a palette, stirred vigorously and convinced all parties that living together in harmony was a great idea.
I decided the piece would be 'Christmasy' and so first painted shadows on the bough before using a gold watercolour for the main part. I have also put a wash of white gold over the wing and the pears. Don't think it shows too well in the photograph, bit I'm pleased with the result and will proudly display my 'masterpiece' at Christmas.
