1. Introduction : Hi, I'm Whoopi from
Agweller Handcrafted. I'm a Wip Jelerymker. Welcome to this
Jelerymking class. I have been making jelery
for a long time now. I love experimenting, trying new designs and
developing new patterns. I run shop axel handcrafted, where I offer lots of detailed tutorials for different designs and
different techniques. Those can be a part of your creative journey
when you learn wrapping. Y wrapping is a very versatile technique
of jewelry making. It requires very few tools and with a few techniques,
which you have learned. You can create
beautiful jewelry. In this course, we will be creating this beautiful
blue moon pendant. We will just need basic supplies
as listed in the course. We will learn to create the frame and set 2
stones within it. We will use few different
weaving techniques and create the entire
blue moon design pendant. If wrapping and just beginning, then do take the wrapping
for beginners course, create a pendant using
single wire technique. You can also take the Aurora pendant course before attempting
the Blue Moon design. It is a simple yet
beautiful design and it is really flexible. You can change the
shape and size of the stone as per
your availability. I'm sure you will have fun and enjoy creating this
design with me. If you're ready, then
let's start wrapping.
2. Tools & Materials Used in this Class: Let us now look at the materials required for the Blumon project. We will need 52 "
of 20 gauge square, half hard copper wire. We will need around 120, 6 " of 30 gauge weaving wire. We are working with the
oval Cabichon stone, 27 MM by 19 MM in size. The round or the smaller
Cabichon is six MM in diameter. We will also use
two copper beads, a four MM and a three MM. The tools we need
for this project are chain nuppliers or
flat nose pliers, flush cutters for cutting
the five MM Doorwl, or ball making pliers. Nylongopliers file marker
and a ruler to measure. If you're ready, let
us start creating.
3. Weaving Technique- 3x2 Weave on 2 Base Wire : Let us now learn the three by two weaving technique
on two base wires. For this we are using 26 inch long 18
gauge round wire for practicing a 36 inch long
28 gauge round wire. As weaving wire
hold weaving wire perpendicular to one of
the base wires like this. We will start by wrapping over the first base wire
for three rotations. We will add the
second base wire, hold both of them
together with one hand. Now we will wrap over both
wires for two rotations, 12, this is our one
rotation of weaving. Again, three rotations
on base wire 112 and 3.2 rotations over
both base wires. 123 rotations on wire, 112 rotations on both wires. 12.3 and again 12. Keep pressing the weaves together to make sure
they are nice and uniform as we are right
now weaving on round wire, we can pull the wires and adjust the position
of the weave. But on square wire, that is not possible. Continue to weave
in a rhythmatic way to get the best weaving possible and keep pressing
the weaves together. This is what this
weaving looks like. Now we can cut this extra
wire end at the beginning. Always make sure to secure
the wire end properly. With players, you can continue to weave for
as many rotations as needed to practice
the weaving technique. I'm going to stop here
whenever you are ending and weaving a for one of the wires
for a few extra rotations. And again, secure the wire
end with pliers properly. This is our three by to
weave on two base wires. You will notice that it appears same from
front and backside.
4. Weaving Technique- Figure 8 Weave on Curved Base Wire: Let us now learn
the figure eight weave on curved base wires. I have 220 gauge
round base wires. They are curved in this manner. The top wire has a shorter curve and the bottom wire
has a broader curve. I'm using 30 gauge round
wire as a weaving wire. This can be changed
as per the design. To start, take the
broader curved wire, that is the bottom wire, and wrap the weaving wire over the base wire
for two rotations. This will secure
the weaving wire to the base wire on
second rotation. Go down from the outer
side of the bottom wire, come up from the center, go over the top fire
and weave for 1.2 rotations on the top,
fire on second rotation, go down from the outer side of the top wire and come up from
the center of two wires. Weave on the bottom wire for 12 and three rotations. This is our one
rotation of weaving. Come up from the
center of two wires, go over the top
wire and weave for one rotations on the top wire. On second rotation, go down from the outer
side of the top wire and come up from the center of two wires on the bottom wire, 12.3 When these wires are curved, always have more rotations on the broader curve and less rotations on the
shorter curved wire. In our case, in the top wire, we are doing only two
rotations in the bottom wire, we are doing three
rotations of weaving, gentle tension in the weaving
wire to get uniform waves. All this time. Make
sure while weaving the base wire should
not get deformed. Keep pressing the weaves together to get
nice close waves. This is how this
looks at this point. As we go ahead, the pattern will
be more prominent. The number of rotations on
each wires will need to be changed depending on
the curves of the wires. Repeat for as many
rotations as needed. And the weaving by wrapping over single base wires
for a few rotations. This is our figure eight
weave on curved base wires.
5. BlueMoon 1- Get the Wires Ready for the Frame: Welcome to the Blue Moon class. We are creating a pendant
using this oval stone. This is 27 MMM in height
and 19 MM in width. This is a moonstone
and a smaller stone. The amethyst is six
MM in diameter. You can use your favorite
stone combinations and you can change
the size a bit. It works with all
different sizes. We will start with four
pieces of 13 inch long, 20 gauge square wire. We will mark the
centers at 6.2 ". We will now start weaving from this marked point
on the first wire. Take a 24 inch
long weaving wire. Weave the wire over the marked
point for a few rotations. We are weaving 1 centimeter
away from the marked point. Secure the wire and cut
the extra wire end. At the beginning, we
will add wire two. Now wrap for wire 1.2 for two rotations and bring the
wire up from the center. Add wire three. We will again
wrap for two rotations over wire 2.3 and bring the
wire up from the center. Like so add Ire four. If your stone is thicker then use more base wires
instead of four wires. You can use 56 as needed. Now, once you have
wrap for two rotations over wire 3.4 bring
the wire up from the center of wire 1.2 and
wrap for two rotations on wire 2.3 Then we will wrap for two rotations on wire 1.2 This is our one
rotation of weaving. We are going to weave for a few rotations over
the base wires. This will secure the wires together and we can create
our frame from them. To end the weaving, we will wrap over wire on
E. For a few rotations. We have done four complete
rotations on all base wires, cut the extra wire
from the back, and our base wires are ready. In the next part, we will work with the frame
for the pendant.
6. BlueMoon 2- Creating Frame: In this part, we will work with the frame for the pendant. For that, we are going to place the weaving in the bottom
curvature of the stone. Orient the position
as per your liking. We will now curve
the wires around the stone like we want to curve, in a way that the top wire goes over the top surface
of the stone slightly. We will close the wires like this to get a teardrop shape. We want a little gap
above the stone. The wires are
intersecting at the top. Mark this point where
the wires intersect. We will now use pliers
to fold the wires up. From this marked point, we want to create a
V shape at the top, within this wires and
while holding with pliers, make sure that the wires remain parallel and do not overlap. Once we fold the wires, we will have this nice
shape at the top. We're going to do
our ball over here. Now first we will
secure all the wires. To do that, we are now using
36 inch long weaving wire. Insert the wire on
the back and wrap it over any one wire
for few rotations. Just to secure the
wire to the frame. We're now going to
hold all eight wires so that they are parallel,
they're not overlapping. We're now going to wrap over all eight wires for a few
rotations at all times. Make sure they remain parallel, otherwise the frame will not
hold the stone properly. Wrap this over the frame for
a few rotations like so. As our base frame is now ready, we will now create the
bale in the next part.
7. BlueMoon 3- Making Bail for the Pendant: As our base frame is now ready. In this part we will work
on the bale for dependent. We are now going to pull the first two wires up and
away from the remaining wires. We are going to weave for the
bale over these two wires. We are doing figure eight weave on these two
first wires here, cut the extra wire end. At the beginning, we will start waving for the ball on
every second rotation wrap. Go over to the other side wrap for one rotation on
second rotation, come back to the
opposite side rotation on the second rotation, go over to the opposite side for one rotation on
second rotation, we come back to
the opposite side. This is a standard figurate view with two rotations on each side. This is how the
weaving will look. We have done ten complete
rotations of weaving. Now, from this point, we are going to fold
the wires up so the wires are parallel with a uniform distance in between. You can adjust this distance depending on the broadness
of the ball you want. We will now continue the same weaving technique and weave over the
two parallel wires. We have done 12 complete
weavings on the two wires. Now, from this point
we are going to fold the wires in towards
the center like this. The wires intersect at the top, and from that point
we are going to fold the wires up like this. We will now continue
to weave over these two wires till we reach
this intersection point. We will end the weaving on the ball and our
weaving is done. We have this extra wire and
let it be. Do not cut it. Our bale is now ready. We will set the stone
in the next part.
8. BlueMoon 4- Setting the Bigger Gem Stone: In this part, we will set our
larger oval shaped stone. We are now going to
separate out the wires. We have three wires
on either side. We are going to keep just
one wire on the left and all the remaining wires will be folded over
to the right side. Now on right side we have five wires and one
wire on the left, of course we have the ball. I'm using a ten MM L to curve the wires down to
create a nice U shape. Now take pliers and fold the wires up from the
bottom of weaving, and then we close
the bale like this. Now at the same time,
we also want to bring these wires to the front, pass them through this
gap in the center, and bring them to the
front of the pendant. Now at this point, we
are going to adjust the frame and then we're
going to set the stone. We are going to curve
these two bale wires out towards the outer side. Curve them out. Take the stone and insert it from the back. You should note that
the top wire has to go over the top surface
of the stone like this. It has to carve over its thickness and hold
the stone from the top. Insert this from the
back, and at the back, we will take the last wire and fold it in
towards the center. This will create the back
support for the stone to sit like this. We now have these
two curved wires. We are going to
adjust the curvatures so that they go over
the top surface, the top corners of the stone. And we will fold the wires. And back from the
outer frame sides we cut the extra wire ends here. And we're also going to wrap them over the back side frame, fold them in towards the top, the gap above the stone. And wrap them tightly
over the frame wire. Adjust the position
of the frame wires so that they're going over
the sides of the stone. And make sure that the
stone is set nicely. It should not move. Now that our first tone is set, we will set our second smallest
tone in the next part.
9. Blue Moon 5- Setting the Smaller Gem Stone: In this part, we will set
our second smaller stone. To do that, we are going
to use the wire on the left first pull the
weaving wire out and back, will still use this, do not cut the extra weaving wire end. Now we will take
this left side wire and fold the wire down
towards the right. We are now going to curve the wire to create a
loop in the size of the stone which will be placed over the top
surface of the stone. Curve the wire around the stone, Take this wire and pass
through this below the wire. Like pass it below the wire and over to the opposite side. Now close the wire to
create a nice loop. Adjust the loop
shape so that it is circular and of a size
similar to that of the stone. Place the stone below the loop. We're now going to
curve the wire around the stone for one
complete rotation, another complete rotation. You can adjust till
you are satisfied. So after the second rotation, we fold the wire down
from the outer left side and bring it up from the
outer right side like this. Here we pass it through this cap below the
wire and above the Be. Take it over to the left side, cut the extra wire and, and wrap it towards the Be, wrap the wire and
over the be like so. At this point the smaller
stone is also set. As you can see, the wire is
trapping the stone below it. We're now going to use
this weaving wire to create extra stability
on the wire. We bring the weaving wire up from just below
the smaller stone. We are going to wrap the wire over the stone with
the frame wire for two to three
rotations each time, pass through the gap between the two loops
over the stone, and then wrap it
over the frame wire. This will make sure that
the wire does not move from its position and holds
the stone firmly. Now both our stones are set. We will work with the weaving and more details
in the next part.
10. Blue Moon 6- Add Weaving: In this part, we will do
weaving work on two wires. We will first pull out two
top wires from the frame. The first two wires that are
nearest to the front side. We now bring the weaving
wire to these two wires. I have some extra wire here. If you have run out of wire, take another piece of 24
inch long weaving wire. We bring the wire up from
the bottom of the bale. If you're using a new wire, use 36 inch long weaving wire. Then we are going to do three by two wave over these two wires. We do two waves over both wires and three
views on the bottom wire. You can do any of your
favorite views at this point. Continue to weave using
the same technique. We are weaving for eight
to ten complete rotations over these two wires. We are now going to curve the wires down and
towards the left. Like this, we fold the wires. Now we curve the wires to follow the curvature
of the smaller stone. We want to create this type of curved gap between
both the wires, spread the wires out to
create this curvature. We will now weave
over this gap here. We're also going to curve the bottom wire down
to get this shape. We are now doing figure it, weave over the curved wires. As the wires are curved, we will do more rotations on
the outer curvature wire. We do around four rotations on the outer wire and only two
rotations on the inner wire. One rotation on second rotation. We go over to the opposite side and four rotations on
the opposite side. Continue to weave using the
same weaving technique, I added a new
weaving wire here at this point and continued to
wrap in the same technique. We're going to weave till we
reach this out of frame side to end the weaving. Wrap
over any one wire for a few rotations and cut the extra wire and tuck
the end towards the inside. Here we have the sweeving ready. We are now going to fold the
wires down and back from the right side frame,
adjust the curvatures. And then we cut the
extra wire ends here, wrap the wire ends over the frame wires at the
back as we did before. While doing this,
do make sure that the curvature at the
front is not damaged. Once this is ready, we now have more three
wires at the top. We will work with our remaining three wires
in the next class.
11. Blue Moon 7- Coiling the Wire & Adding Bead: In this part we will add one
bead and do some coiling. We are going to follow the curvature of the
outer curve wire. Curve the wire down towards
the outer right side. Fold the wire down and back again. We're going to
cut the extra wire and and wrap this over the
frame at the pack. Tighten the fold with pliers. This is what we
have at this point. We have two wires. So take the next wire, fold the wire down. Now at this point,
we're going to add a three MM bead to the wire. Insert the bead through the wire and place it in the
center of the bale. We are now going to
curve the wire around the bead for one
complete rotation. We are curving in
clockwise direction. Bring the wire back. We have one full rotation. Now take the wire
below the loop, then bring it back
towards the left side. Place the bead so that it is
in the center of the ball. We have this wire over here. We are going to use 24
inch long weaving wire to coil over this wire, cut the extra wire. And here we will coil on this wire for a
length of around one inches. Once we have coiled, we curve the wire down, follow the curvature of
the wires on the right. And then we curve the wire
out to the left, outer side, Fold the wire down from
the outer frame side, make sure that the coil
reaches till this point. This is how the curvature
should look like. We are now going to cut the
extra weaving wire over here. Use pliers to secure the wire. Now we fold the wire back
towards the backside. Cut the extra wire and here adjust the curvature in the front. And then we will wrap it
over the inner frame side. Just fold the wire in towards the center of
the stone on the back. And tighten this
fold with pliers. Make sure it is nice
and secure the end. In the next class,
we will add a bead.
12. Blue Moon 8- Finishing up the Pendant: We will now add this
bead over here. It's a three MM copper bead. And we are going to insert, insert a six inch long 30
gauge round wire here inserted between the figure eight A
wire and the plain wire on the right side wrap for one rotation over
the uncoiled wire, the plain wire on the right. This will secure
the weaving wire to the frame wrap for two to three rotations on
this wire. At this point, once we have wrapped for
two to three rotations, we will cut the extra weaving
wire at the beginning. And now we are going to add
this bead through the wire. Insert the bead through the wire and place
the bead in position. It has to be placed within this angle that is
formed over here. Take the weaving wire over to
the left side coiled wire. What we will now
do is we will wrap over the coiled wire
for two rotations. We will try and wrap through the bead for
two to three times. This will secure the bead
position more nicely. Each time pass
through the bead and bring the wire up from
the opposite side. Once you have wrapped through
the bead for 223 times, our bead is nicely
secured in position. We will now end coiling wire
and over the coiled wire for 223 rotations or any one
side wire for 23 rotations. Once this is done,
we can cut off the extra wire end
from the back. We pliers to secure
the wire end. Our pendant is almost
the bead has been added. This is what it looks
like at this point. This last wire to the left. We curve it out back
towards the right side. We want to create
this curvature. Now we will move this curvature so that it is placed
above the bead. Move it down over the bead like. And adjust the curvature so that it follows the
curvature of the bead. Bring it back on
the right and we will adjust the
curvature and tighten the folds, the extra wire. And here and we
will wrap the wire. And towards the inner side of the bale like on the
inside top inner part. This is it. The
pendant is ready. I absolutely love this design. I hope you enjoy taking
this class with me.
