1. Introduction: What to expect from the class: Welcome. My name is Sam and I'm a video training specially, and I've trained Han gentle people on how to become better at presenting in front of camera. In this course, I'm going to teach you how to improve your virtual presentation and your weapons. Now, over the last few years, the world has changed so rapidly. And virtual events and presentations of a common nor yet so few wasn't actually been taught how to best use digital capitals. So I'm going to break this down into five plots and you can get a best ICE sessions. First of all, set not your medians. Creating a plan for your sessions. What you need to do before you go live, perfecting your presentations and then follow not want your session you've done. 2. Planning your sessions: Now for this course, I'll give you a breakdown of how to do these presentations or the zoo. But he tips, apply across the board so you can use them on Skype to Teams, google Meet ends, or wherever else you use. The first thing is you need to create a clear plan for your presentations. So let's take a look at it now. Now first things first is understand the platform you're using. All of the features are available to you. Each platform will have the capacity to do remote presentations by sharing the screen. But some will have features which allow you to share a particular tab or window, which can be useful for reading your notes on a non shared screen. Now also, each platform will have a limited number of participants or guests. For example, Zoom on a free account limits you to a 100, but also allows you to create breakout rooms where a Skype only limits you to 50 by allows you to do direct file-sharing. Now these are important factor that you need to consider. It also depends on what version of the software you have. Say we'll decide on what features will be available to you. So make sure that everything is up-to-date. Whether you're using a business account or protocol or free account on understanding what you can take advantage of is important. So make sure you do your research. Now having said that, it's always good to note that one size does not fit all. Know who the target audience expectations don't have from the session. Now not everyone learns in the same way. There are free learning habits. The first one is audio. Those who attain information by hearing it and then repeat in A&M minds, if you're someone that often grow one other person has said, there's a good chance that you learn in this way. There's visual and those who retain information by seeing and capturing an image of that thing in their mind. If you're someone who's good at remembering faces, for example, then you're probably someone that learns in this way. And then there's kinesthetic and those who retain information by doing. Now, you can easily remember something off you've done it. For example, how to cook a mill. That maybe that's the way that you best learn. Now, you can be talking and students, clients, or whoever else, but you should have a mixed or Slides cost and audio references to make sure that everyone has something to take away. Now if you've done any sort of meeting in the past, you will know how important and useful is to set an agenda. Not only for you to know how to break down the median, but to give your audience a heads up about what and make it easy to follow. Once you get started, a tramp break these down into clear learning points, but don't overdo it as too much information at once confirmed your audience on the left for your presentation plays a part in this, but you want to aim to make it between three to five strong points. Anything less may seem too short. And if you anything more may seem a bit too much. For example, five easy ways to increase your marketing success. Now pause the EMI agenda is having a clear structure and format to how you're presenting this information. Now, if I were to strip anything at this point is to understand the audience just be continued and create as much engagement with them as possible. Authentic expectation journey, introduction from the stock, have clear learning points, create moments of participation and have calls to action at the end. And your form is basically how you present your agenda. And you're going to be personal, lighthearted, narrative driven, as it can have a lot of tasks, visual cues. Again, it's best to do your research into what works best for your audience and direct your presentation down, up off. 3. Setting up your meetings: Now I might come as a bit of a surprise why I've included this in the course. But there are actually many opportunities that people overlook when they're setting up their meetings to make it as success was possible. So let's take a look at a couple of little tips and tricks up and giving it a name of your sessions. That's the expectation from the stock is the first thing that people will see. And in some cases, we'll make them decide whether they should attend or not. So be clear, keep it short and specify who is 0 and 10. So for example, food photography for beginners, or how to get a 10 percent annual return for new investors. Questions posed in first-person also work. So marketing 101, how do I so more. Now set a date and time well in advance to give your attendees not time to plan and fitness into their schedule. And they are less likely to attend if you own a racist they before palm parcel of this defendant, not the invites as soon as the meeting has been set. So you can easily do this with the shared bot. Once you've confirmed your me an animal, which details? Or you can add them to the list of participants, emails. Another thing people overlook when setting up their meetings or time zones. There's a chance that not all of your attendees will be local. And if this is the case, make sure the time we are allocating is suitable for everybody or as many people as possible. How likely you think people are going to attend if it's free, I am in a region. Now making your initial me in a recurring meeting can save you a lot of hassle setting up for future presentations. Now some platforms such as Zoom allow you to make custom schedules, which will basically allow you to reuse the same meeting ID several times. Now, if you intend to do more than one, perhaps is a good idea to sell. Your mean is like this. So if easier to distribute when needed. Now, closed captioning is a feature that has recently been added to a lot of these video meeting platforms. Now, it is not perfect, but adds an additional element to your presentation, especially for those that are hearing impaired or find it difficult to understand if English isn't necessary to first language, you can easily enable this in your sessions beforehand in Zim. But for other platforms such as Google means you can turn this on by the options wants to be in stocks. 4. Pre-meeting preparation: So you finally got your mean and set up and sent up all your invites with plenty of time for people to accept. Good job. Now today's constants. So let's look at how you can kick off, right? We'll look at a few things you can do before your presentation stopped to give you the best chance of success. But try and do all of your technical checks at least 30 minutes before your due to stop, just in case there's any problem that you need to resolve. Now as you're doing this remotely, are two main factors that you need to check or good as possible. And the first thing is your internet. And without a stable Internet connection, a lot of what you're doing becomes a waste of time. And I'm sure you've been in plenty of meetings where they have absolutely failed because the person hosted just kept dropping up. And you couldn't follow a word that they will say it. And not only does it disrupt the session by gives you a level of unprofessionalism when you have to embarrassingly log out and log back in order to find out that didn't even solve the problem. So do a speed test to make sure your upload and download speeds were at least 10 megabits per second. They can do this by just Googling speed test. Make sure you're not streaming or downloaded anything while you're in the mean and get as close to your Wi-Fi hub as possible? Yes, stable as you can. If you can use an ethernet cable and hardware directly into the Wi-Fi Hall, I think a bell. If you find your connection is still unstable, disable all of your devices are connected to it. And if there's any Bluetooth devices in the area, make sure that those are also turned off. Now the second thing to take into consideration is your audio. Audio is extremely important because again, if nobody can hear you, It's going to be almost impossible to follow along. So conduct your session in a quiet room, close all doors and windows to remove as much external noise as possible. Now using a pair of headphones is recommended to minimize any feedback from videos playing or attendees asking questions. If you can use a pair of headphones with an external microphone on it, It's even better. This tends to be better than the laptop microphones, and because it's closer to you is often clearer. Now there is a third thing to consider which isn't as important. And this is your video clarity is not necessarily something you have to get perfect people do need to see. So the first thing we need to do is just give you a lens of whack so that your image is nice and clear. Position yourself in a middle of the frame at eye level so you're not looking down and your audience. You can use a box if needed to help prop up the camera. The last thing is just make sure your worldly seat facing an IRA window to get as much natural light as possible or use like a ring light or external like that you may have around. Now keeping yourself focused and your audience engaged is all about removing a destructions. Now Paul of these compounds are way decide to hold your presentation. A noisy room will be your first destruction. So turn off radios, TVs, mobile phones, put your notifications or style or do not disturb. Avoid using Crocs or time is on screen and try not to have other people or pets in a room. The less excuse your audience has to look at something kills, the better it needs to be about you and your content. Now comfortability is important. It may seem obvious, but if you're uncomfortable, it will show. So how do you get comfortable? Well, C is a big factor for sitting down while you present in be sure to be in a chair that allows you to see all nice and straight. Ground your feet and always have a glass of water with you. And you'll be surprised how quickly your mouth can dry off the speaking for about 10 minutes. It's always a good idea to record your sessions either for archival purposes or to repurpose and send out to people that unfortunately couldn't attend. However, I tend to not let people know in advance that I'm recording of what they may not show up. Now to record your sessions, you need to first start your meeting and then hit the record button. Now local recordings of recommended that you can have the files instantly available to distribute. Once the session is done, the video should convert and saved at a destination has been selected in your segments. Generally, this is in your document or in your Downloads. Now, it's absolutely normal for us to get nervous and feel anxious before a big presentation. And a biggest fear to say people have even before death is public speaking, if not unnaturally instinctive thing for us to do, however, it can be learned. Now rule number one is shift your perspective. Most people build up a fee in their head would of things that can go wrong during a presentation. Wife on bad, what if they ox me something? I don't know what if I stumble, what if I miss that? And we tend to be more afraid of what we constructed our minds. And we'll actually comes to pause in reality. Sort of first things first is except that you will never be perfect. Just acknowledged that there's no such thing. You will make a mistake and that's absolutely fine. And a key is to be graceful your mistakes and not lay for you off. The second thing is understand that it's not about, you. Focus should always be on your audience and how you can best convey the information they need to that simple. Now let's be honest. You could get someone else to do the presentation and then we'll probably all turn up because the value is in the information. So let that be your focus. Your job is solely to make sure you give them what they need and to do it with conviction. Anxiety can take over at any moment. But a key thing is to slow down, grieve, and refocus your minds to where it should be. 5. Perfecting your sessions: Right, So there's coral stone now, I guess it's fair to say you can only do so much in the lead up, but if you don't deliver when it counts, it can be left feeling like you've missed the mark on what he wanted to achieve. Now having said that, if you've done enough work beforehand, this should actually be the easiest. And the phone is pop. The, let's take a look at how you can hit the presentation and upon. Now, despite what you may lead to, having a natural talent for something, doesn't necessarily translate into UP and confident. If you feel like you lack confidence. Building is a simple my arr of two things, practice and preparation. Now if you simply prepare enough and practice load, your confidence will go through the roof. And those easier said than done by it's actually a no brainer. Prepare for everything and know your presentation inside out to the point that you only need, just slide that a prompt and you'll be walking into that presentation, telling yourself, aloneness, create moments of engagement. And this is very important, especially for those that are looking to do long presentations. Sure, you've supplemental video calls. Just drags on because the host that they're talking over slides for an hour, when are we going to realize is boring? Attention spans are growing shore by the date. So to Joseon, when the tension requires engagement. So optional audience questions, conduct polls, and do icebreakers where replicable. I often do check-ins off that each slide to make sure that everything is fully understood. It gives an opportunity for anyone to ask something that is a clear and gives you an idea of where you can make your presentation better and clearer for you audience. Now in some cases, attention to detail is everything. When it comes to your presentations, keep it short, keep it clean, keep it simple. Especially with your slant. We're not all designers, but there are many templates out there that can help structure your presentations in a professional way. So avoid making more than free points on one slide. Choose images over texts as The moment you put too much text on screen, the audience dot read it and they stop paying attention to you. Lastly, use charts and graphs to focus the information. If you explain the difference between 2019 and 2020 annual results, just so that we don't need to see 2017 and 2016. If it's not relevant to the point that you're making, everyone realizes this, but we all learn in different ways. Some routine, visual information, bed and audio information, and others learn best by doing. So when preparing your presentation, you should consider this. When you're delivering, remember that you just read insulting isn't going to be enough. So how visual aids for the points that you make and encourage everyone to take notes. Using real-life scenarios always help people to get an idea of how they can apply this as something relevant to them and make it easier for them to remember. Now, have you ever heard the saying that over 90 percent of communication is nonverbal? Well, guess what? It's actually true. And if that's the case, then let's be honest. Most of what you say during your presentation doesn't matter how you save. And this is key, your tone and your body language. Say everything about how well you can deliver your information. So be comfortable. If you speak with your hands and don't restrict yourself. You will shop, set up nice and straight or stan and plot your feet firmly on the ground is conveys a sensible 40 and gives you more credibility. The most important thing is clarity, speak slow, and Naziism and breeds. The most common reason why people speed up is because they're nervous and this causes them to take short week breaths. So slow down. Three deep, relax. And it will instantly low your tone and allow you to speak with conviction. That is nothing worse than jumping onto a me in to see the host been 10 or 15 minutes trying to figure out how to unmute themselves and share their screen. So make sure you get in at least 20 minutes early to make sure everything is working as it should and share your screen. So as soon as people join, you can study introduction without too much delay. Now usually it takes a couple of minutes for people to join. So in the meantime, think about how you can engage with you and attendees from the stop. Maybe play some music or have an opening slide with the agenda on so they can read for it before you begin. 6. Following up after your session: So now the presentation is over. Doesn't mean there isn't anything more that you can do. Follow-ups are always important to help the audience take you all the information that they may have missed, as well as giving you opportunities for improvement. Don't forget to chase people wants the presentation, don't want. Calls to action are greatly to follow up. Once a presentation and stop. It gives a presentation a sense of purpose and enforcing action as a result could be as simple as all of your attendees sign up to an e-mail chain or filling out a questionnaire. But the action and engagement is important. Make this clear in the end what you want them to do and follow up with them a few days later. As a reminder, say it's fresh on there to do this. Now sit yourself your own plan of action and reach out to those that may have signed up but not attended the session. So send them an e-mail reminding them of their interests along with a copy of the session. They can view it in our own time and ask questions often. Now, data is the new gold. Collect as much of it as you can weave. It was during the sign-up process or part of the follow-up process. It's always good to have a record of who attended and who was interested in your presentation. So you have contacts for any future presentations that you may do. Now, surveys are also a great way to collect information that may be useful at a later date are many sites like Google Docs way can create online surveys for free. 7. Task: Put it into practice: And that's it. There are plenty of tips and tricks that I'm sure that you can take away and less finish up with a task. Attached is a presentation which to theta least neither be all work. But why don't you try practicing how you can improve these presentations by working on this and delivering it to a group of family or friends. If you want, you can choose to work on your own presentation. Just remember the key points that I made earlier. Who is your audience? How would you structure your presentation? Create moments of engagement. Less is more. And finally, practice and prepare. Good luck, and I'll see you guys soon.
