1. Introductory Video: So I want you to imagine this. You've booked vacation to the beautiful island
of Santorini, Greece. And once you arrive
there, needed to be exposed to the
beautiful scenery. The standard sets the food,
the beautiful people. It is a paradise on earth and you're
thinking to yourself, I don't want to
leave this place. This place is heaven on Earth. So what is the next
logical thing to do? Grab your phone and you start to capture most of your time there, you take videos of everything. And this, ladies
and gentlemen is where the real problem comes. Your phone and this is
a conscious feeling to capture everything
absorbs you. It prevents you from living the moment and
you're always feeling this subconscious need to capture every single aspect of the three because this is just
heaven on earth. If what I just described
sound somewhat familiar, you are in the correct place. I decided to make
this course because this was a problem that I had. And the weirdest thing with this problem is that you don't actually realize that
something's going wrong. You have accepted the
fact that part of your time and I actually
substantial amount of your time while newer
vacation will be devoted into capturing aspects
with your phone that will be shared
on social media. Well, the result is the
fact that you don't end up leaving 100%
of your vacations. Your videos look like
generic social media videos. They are not properly
stored and numbered in a visitor that your phone is always out of
battery and storage. And to sum things up, you just end up living
a virtual vacation. Now again, this
is a problem that most people don't even
realize that exists. It is pretty similar to the, in the aquarium scenario in
which the fish has never left the aquarium to witness
how real life is. But in this course right here, I will release you
from your aquarium. And with a systematic approach, we're gonna be tackling every single one of the problems
that I mentioned, which will leave you to
enjoying 100% of your vacation. And by the end of it, have beautiful and timeless
movies from your trip, rather than just 2000
different photographs and different videos
from parts of the tube. We're going to start
this course by deciding which is the perfect
camera for you, which will be achieved with a personalized algorithm that I will present to you in the
first lesson of this course. Next, we'll discuss
in some basic videography principles
which you need to know to be able to capture
a wide variety of salts and create engaging movies
from your applications. Next, we're taking a step
back from suiting or discussing some
theoretical aspects on how to save more time, battery, and storage
while you're on vacation. Next, I'm going to show
you the best way to store files in a systematic approach in storing files on
your hard drive, which will completely
change your life. And finally, we're
ending this course with a complete tutorial in
which I'm gonna show you how I grade timeless
movies from our trips. Don't worry, you don't need
any editing knowledge or any fancy editing software to achieve what we're gonna
do in this course. This is very easy
made for beginners, just like you just
want to make the most out of their vacation. So thank you very
much for sticking up. Leaving this video,
make sure you click on the next video and join
me in this journey again to make the most out of our brushes time on negation.
2. The Problem: So hi everybody. Congratulations for clicking on the first video of this course. I'm very happy to have you here again, my name is Lombroso, and this is gonna be a
transformative course for you. I am very, very excited because this is really
groundbreaking. The stuff that we're
going to be analyzing in this course is groundbreaking. I haven't seen it being taught anywhere else
on the Internet. And again, the fact that I have decided to
make this course because these are
problems that are good in my life, in my vacations. So let's take things
from the beginning. I want you to imagine this. I want you to imagine
that It's a normal day. And you wake up and
you go to your car, you entered the car, you drive, there's traffic and you
get to your office. Maybe you're the boss just like Michael from the office here. This happens day
after day after day. You get excited but you're happy that you're working in your productive and
you're making money. And your life is pretty much
rolling at a steady pace. Of course, our boards. Okay, so one day as you're
working, you decide, Hey, you know, I've worked a lot and I have saved some
days from my day off. So I need I want to go
to vacation somewhere. I want to experience
new experiences. I want to go out with my
boyfriend or my girlfriend. I want to go out
with my friends. I want to live in
you experienced with the people that I love. And I want to do this in
a tropical place, e.g. I want to go to Hawaii, I want to go to Greece, I want to go note the
Maldives. You get the point. So you sit there and just like this guy, and you daydream, you daydream and you daydream distinct nations to go
with your loved ones. And you actually brainstorm
to go to Santorini, which this beautiful
island in Greece. And it's one of the best
destinations in the world. Because you are Dewar and not just a dreamer or a thinker. You've thought of joining this course and actually
joined this course. So will this makes your
door because you are Dewar. Next thing you know,
he grabbed the plane, you book an airplane ticket, go into the plane and boom, you're with your backpack
and your hat in Santorini, in this beautiful, again
destination in Greece. And this is very, very exciting. Once you go there,
you book your Ruby. And this is what you see. You go see the churches, the traditional mountains, the
C's, the romantic sunsets. It is literally
paradise on Earth. You see those small boat, as you can see right
here, the mountains. I haven't been in some dreamy. I'm from Greece though,
and I know that this is how the place look. It's, it's literally insane. Everything is painted in
this characteristic white. So you really see this
place and you're like, Hey, you know, I just want
to let that soak in. I want this feeling to
stay alive forever. I don't want to
leave this place. And you might not want
to live this place, but the fact is that you've
gotta get back to your job. So the next thing that you do is you try to capture as much as you
can from your vacation. You get your phone out and
every single thing you see, you just photograph
photograph the food, the cats, the people, the sunset, the
church, the season. When talking about photos, were talking about videos. You want to capture as much
as you can on top of that, when you earned your office
and you weren't your laptop, you obviously open social media and you saw that
many of your friends were on vacation and they shared their
amazing experiences. And some of your friends
went to Australia and other friends who
went to Euro USA, skiing, hiking, all that stuff. And you were, you were
subconsciously kind of jealous. You wanted the same feeling. So when you're in Santorini, you start capturing everything
and you're thinking, this can be good for Instagram. It's going be a Facebook post. This I could post on TikTok, the second posterior,
the second post there. And I think that, you
know where this is going. This is the reason that I decided to dedicate
a complete lesson, the first lesson of the
scores to the problem. Because in this lesson
right here, we're going to highlight the problem. And of course to
find a solution, to figure out the
solution, we're going to first identify the problem. And this right here, ladies and gentlemen,
is the problem. The problem is that you have no idea when it comes to
video and photography, videography and photography,
you have absolutely no idea. I mean, yes, your phone takes great pictures and your phone
takes great photographs. But other than that,
you have no idea about composition principles, lighting principles, shooting smooth movements,
different camera movements. And obviously you're not called to denote
that stuff, right? But subconsciously, when
you're in Santorini, you are a full-time filmmaker, pretty much your full-time filmmaker when
you're on vacation. The thing is that when
you're on vacation, you want to remember
that feeling when you arrive in Santorini
that you wanted to. So can you didn't want that
view that you had to die. You want to keep this view
yourself to view it for life. The thing is that when we're trying to please our
audience on Instagram, our audience on Facebook and audience on YouTube
and audience or Snapchat or TikTok when
we're trying from one, well, we're on vacation
when we're trying to please people on all of those different social media
platforms that require all sorts of different
social media content, you need follows to remember
that trip for yourself. Aren't you going to
take photographs to remember the drip?
It probably are. Aren't you going to
take photographs to share on Instagram? Okay. So these are different
photographs. Different photographs you've
take to keep for yourself in your camera roll and different photographs you
take the share on Instagram. Then you need videos
to certain Instagram, you see something could be like, hey, this would be
cool for Instagram. Let's shoot it. You need theories for TikTok, and you need photos and
videos to share on Facebook. Perhaps you're a
YouTuber and you need longer YouTube video, so you start shooting
for YouTube, then you need more, you know, not that professional
videos to keep for yourself or somebody else
to send to relatives. You're not going to
send the same video to a relative that you're
gonna upload on YouTube. And all of this creates a
massive amount of brain fog. And you end up not having fun. You don't enjoy your vacation
or prevents you have fun, but you don't have the maximum amount of fun
because there's all, there's always this voice, this internal voice
and say, hey, you should be recording this, Hey, you should be sharing this. And this is very,
very stressful. And I have some even
more bad news for you. But again, I don't
want this video to be depressing and stuff, but I'm just highlighting
the problem here and most of the people
wonderful vacation. We don't understand that
this problem exists, but this problem just me, it is very, very real. The things that
the problem that I described until this point, it is just the tip
of the iceberg. This is just the
tip of the iceberg. In fact, there are five big
problems for the system. This system of you going
into vacation and being a full-time filmmaker
while having absolutely no idea about
videography and photography, about video editing, is just
the tip of the iceberg. There are five problems
that arise from this then. So in this lesson,
we're going to analyze those five problems. I'm going to point out
those five problems. And in this course, I have five different
lessons that are made and constructed to help you
solve those five problems. So let's start with
the first problem. The first problem is
that you shoot all of your videos while your vacation
from social media apps. This means that you grab
your phone and you open Instagram and you can start shooting from the
Instagram app or yogurt, Snapchatting and starts sending
snaps and saving videos from snaps at your camera roll then sending streaks
than UDP source, you just shoot them
from the YouTube app. Same thing from TikTok. It's just a mess. This problem has of
course, sub problems. The first problem,
I don't know if you know that or have
you noticed that, but it is associated with a
very decreased image quality. Shooting directly from a
social media application decreases the image quality
and the video quality, the video that is produced. And you might think, okay, look, I'm not a
professional like you. I don't know how I
can figure it out. And again, distinguish the
difference between a fork, a video, and a full HD video. Well, the thing is that how many times will
you go in Santorini? How many times will you
travel from the USA to Santorini or from Europe to
Santorini in your life, 234. Each time that you
got Santorini, it's going to be a very
unique experience. And let's be honest, you're probably not gonna
go that many times again, back in your lifetime. Why would you choose
to shoot and how videos with a decreased quality when you can have the
100% of video quality. So this is the first problem we'll shooting from
social media apps. The second problem is that most of the videos that you
should either directly sent to friends or your
blood them in your stories and you don't save them
in your camera roll. And get that even if you save the videos in
your camera roll. Okay, so even if you shoot
a video from Instagram and then hit Save, It's good. It gets saved in
your camera roll. There is absolutely no file sorting in your
phone's camera roll. And I'm going to prove
this to you right now. So let's assume
that you have been on vacation previously
in your life. I want you to try to find a specific photograph
that you have in mind and you remember from the last
vacation that you went. So e.g. if you went
vacation in Africa and even remembering great photograph
that you took in that drip. I want you to go ahead
and find that photograph. What would you do? Well, I assume that you
would take your phone, you go to the photo gallery
and then you will scroll up until you find
your trip to Africa. From the digital Africa,
you would stop in and say, Hey, I remember this photograph. I think it was on the
fifth day of my trip, so it would be a bit down and then you would find
some videos from that day. You can find the photograph. And then after five or 6 min, you would find that photograph. This is fundamentally wrong. This is fundamentally wrong. The fact that you have to
scroll through your phone, through all of those apps
just to find one photograph. Then I'm very excited and we're going to analyze
this in the next lesson. But I'm very excited because in this course
right here I'm going to present to you the absolute
best file sorting system that I use. I have been used since 2015. So from 2015, which I recorded my first video with the first camera that I
bought up until 2022, I immediately in seconds, can locate every single photo and every single video
that I've taken. I know exactly where to find it. I know this sounds like completely alien
stuff, but trust me, it is possible and
we're going to organize your hard drive and
your storage in a way in which you will be able to find immediately any video
that you've ever sought. Again, this sounds
too good to be true, but trust me, it isn't. It's happening and
there is a way, and this is the way
that filmmakers. Learned the hard way
followed because again, we have accumulated a
huge amount of video, the huge amounts
for photographs, which we need to
sort out some way. And this is a problem
that normal people that are not filmmakers
and videographers, photographers are never,
never really called to solve because it isn't the
problem that has symptoms. The symptoms is
that you lose time. But the real symptoms here, it is an asymptomatic,
if you will, problem. But the real symptoms is
that at the end of the day, you get lost, your
memories get lost. And again, how many
times will it be incendiary me? Not
that many times. So you want your memories
from Santorini to be clear, to be categorized and to
be easily accessible. The final problem,
problem number one, you're shooting from
social media apps is that videos that come from social media apps
or not that memorable. And this leads to
problem number two, which is that you have
no variety of salts. Why? Because we think and shoot
based on social media. And this is the product
of a modern way of thinking because
we think based on social media and this is
again, fundamentally wrong. Imagine this. What do you want to capture
from your time in Santorini? What do you really
want to capture? You don't want to capture this generic photograph
of Santorini. N1 captured this
generic photograph. All of you in Santorini. You want to capture
what actually Dr. your attention which
captures your attention there, some silly stuff, the fun stuff. You don't want this, you
want to capture this model, but you're not even a model. You don't want to capture
this model victory of units, and this is what you want
your friends to see. But we leave this
world in this life. We live for ourselves
and we live this life to capture memories, to remember of our time. There were not models, and this is what Instagram
wants you to suit. Instagram wants you
to gold Santorini. Take this picture which
will look like a model, and then take this picture
and upload it like, I don't know, a folded
dump on Instagram. But in fact, if you
type Santorini view, you will find the exact same
picture in the Internet. So is it really worth
going sunday mean, spending time being
on your phone? Like actually taking
time to focus out of Santorini and focus on
your phone and focus on all of the friends that
you have on social media. Just to capture this picture is, I don't think that
it's worth it, in my opinion, it's not worth it. So again, in this
transformative course, we will stop thinking
based on social media, will start thinking
based on what we want to remember
for our trip. And we will start thinking
on creating again timeless videos of our journeys and timeless videos that
will stand the test of time. Because guess what? This picture of you, looking
like a model in front of Santorini will not
stand the test of time. And it's very easy to prove. Wide won't stand
the test of time. It won't stop, stand the test of time because it doesn't
have personality. It doesn't have personality. It's just you acting
like a model. This doesn't have character, this doesn't have personality. And when you combine
vacations with personality and great footage due to the fact that you
know about videography, you know about photography, you know some compensation
principles, you know, some basic
lighting principles. This is how you create those timeless
movies that we will learn how to create by the
end of this lesson to again, have the best results. And I'm very passionate
for this because these are mistakes
that I've also done. Again, this was a transformative process that I
have been through, through again many years. And I'm just very
excited for you to be here and be part
of the scores. Point. Number three, problem. Number three, it's fact that you end up
missing on real-life. And I want you to take a moment
and look at this concert. So this is a concert of $0.50, one of the most
legendary wrappers. And all of those people, they're probably never
going to see 50 cent. They're probably
never going to go into a few descent
concert again. And the thing is that
even if they go, probably one or two per
cent will go again. We've all been to a concert. We've all seen a celebrity and most of us won't see
that celebrity again. Take a look at this
photograph again. Everyone is behind his phone. And when the thing, when you're watching
something for the first time and it's very embracing,
very impressive. The first thing that you
wanna do is just make this memory immortal by
capturing a video of it. But what happens when
you pull your phone out? You just subtract. You subtract from the
experience while you're there. The experience you don't live 100% of the experience
who live like 70, 80 per cent of the experience. And the thing is that okay, you sacrifice 20 per
cent because you want again to capture timeless
videos of your moments there. But the videos that you end up capturing
aren't even for you. Therefore, people
do watch them on social media and this
is fundamentally wrong. So with the scores, with the tools I'm going to provide you in
this course and this transformative
information that I'm going to give
you in this course, which again, I have captured
and I have accumulated through years of
having this problem. You won't up, you won't end
up missing. On real life. You will live 100% of your vacation while
also capturing them. In addition to that,
on top of that, you will live 110 per cent of your vacation because
you believe you will be passionate to capture it
in a correct way and in the correct natural
and normal way to capture a vacation and create diamonds
video out of it. Not just like these
people in which they will probably see descent
once in their lifetime. And they were all behind
their phone screens. Because guess what? Guess what? You can watch a 50 cent video from your phone screen on
your house, on YouTube. You don't have to show up. Wait 3 h in line, 100 bucks for a ticket to just watch $0.50
behind your phone. You can do this from your home. This is what these
people don't understand, and this is what you
will understand. And I want you to just from now, this course has started. You have enrolled
in this course. I want you from now to be slowly transforming
your thoughts from being a person that ends up missing on real-life and
sacrificing his time, again to share his time on
social media with others to a person that's sacrifices a
small amount of his time to create timeless memories
of his experiences. Problem number four,
and this is the fourth out of five problems. Very, very, very common. Storage, almost
full notification, battery, almost
dead notification. This is a problem which
we have all faced. Let's be honest here. If you have been on
many vacations and if you take a lot of
photographs and a lot of years with your phone, you will have the
storage certification. And obviously your phone will be out of battery
because guess what? These are all the functions of your phone while
you are on vacation. Your phone is a
communications device. Okay. You communicate with the people that
you're on vacation with your phone and
with your friends that are back in your country. So you pretty much chat, you video call, you phone
call, you Stan, SMS. Your phone is a
communication device. This is already enough. By the way, this is
already like as much as your phone should be doing
while you're on vacation. On top of that, you
also use your phone as a photo camera and
a video camera. Now, you might
think to yourself, hey, why did this guy, which is lecturing me
for the past 20 min, mentioned that
using your phone as a video camera and if
follow gamma is a problem. Why did I pay 1,000 bucks
for the new iPhone? Because again, I bought
it the fact that it had a ultra-wide camera for me to shoot videos and photo.
Why is that a problem? Well, this is a problem. This is a problem when
you're on vacation because your phone isn't a photo camera and your phone isn't
a video camera. We discussed about the file
sorting system that this file sorting problem that
accumulates if you're using your phone as a photo
camera and a video camera. In this course, we together are going to change your perception on how to capture your moments. And trust me, one of the biggest flows of the
center is the fact that we're capturing our moments and storing them into our phones. And I'm gonna get back to that. Your phone. In addition to a content
consumption device, because we consume
content from our phones, we want you to videos. We consume contents on
content on Instagram, on Facebook, on TikTok, and Snapchat on be real. We are constantly consuming
content of our phone, on our phone from our phones. We are constantly uploading
content from our phones and obviously this
drains battery right uploading videos on
YouTube and on Instagram. I'm not going to mention all the social media apps
ever done that. I'm saying this, but you realize that all of these take
a huge amount of battery. The huge amount of
batteries, the biggest flow, rather than using your phone as a video camera
and photo camera, is the fact that we use our phones as content
storage devices. This is fundamentally wrong. This is just fundamentally
wrong as a filmmaker, this is a huge red flag
know filmmaker and no video professional that
knows what he's doing with video
would ever store. He's photogenic is timeless
memories on his phone. And you might think like, okay, this guy is saying
me that I shouldn't store my content, my phone, given the fact that if I lose my phone, everything's
going to get lost. But I also have Cloud Storage. No. I'm not mentioning I mean, not even mentioning the
fact that you can lose your phone and then all
of your footage is gone. I'm saying we should never
store our videos and our photographs
only on our phone. Again, only on our
phone due to the fact that they're not
easily accessible. Because the reality is that yes, your phone can be used as
a communication device. And yes, your phone takes
great photographs and yes, your phone can be a
content storage device. It can be a quantum
community consumption device and then upload device
and a map device. But when it comes to
content storage, okay. Let me, let me, let me take this from
another perspective. Videos that you've
sought from Santorini in which you will go once
in your lifetime probably. Are priceless. Priceless videos of you, generic videos of you really sharing your
experience there. These are priceless videos. You don't want to store
them on your phone. You want them to be
easily accessible, properly filed,
probably numbered. Okay. You want to be able
to reach those moments and leave this great sensation
and feeling of nostalgia. The tip of your fingers,
you don't want to just scroll and
scroll and scroll until you find the Melians and photographs and files that
you've taken from thundering. You want these to be
very, very accessible. So as you can imagine, all of the aspects that we mentioned right here drain a huge
amount of battery, okay? And they increase your storage and storage is almost full. We're going to talk about
how we're going to solve all the problems
that I mentioned in this video, in the next lesson. For now, I'm just
mentioning the problems, but trust me, in
the next lesson, we're going to outline
the course outline, okay, how are we going
to solve this problems? And then we're gonna
move into solving them. Actually. Problem number five
is that you end up living a virtual vacation, okay? You end up sacrificing
the majority of your time on vacation again to
please and satisfy others. And this is fundamentally wrong. Now you might be thinking, No, I don't end up living
able to location. I'm there and I
had a great time. Well, it's like the fish in the aquarium affect you think that you're
having a great time? Well, you could be having
a 50% greater time. Trust me, I have this problem. I didn't know that
I had this problem and then I solved this problem. And now I can't believe that
I even went on vacation with this strategy that you
probably have if you're watching a movie it up until
this point in the video, on vacation, you end up
living a ritual vacation. You end up living
a ritual vacation. You end up being on your phone. So pretty much you end up living a virtual vacation again because you're trying to please
your virtual friends. And this might sound weird, but if you think about it,
they're virtual friends. From your 1,000
followers on Instagram. How many of them have
you seen the past week? 50, 20. I don't know. Most
of them are visual. And when I made
this realization, this changed a lot
of my perspective. But stop trying to
please Virtual people. And if you're having this
concern on your head, the videos that we will create, the movies that we will create, moods will be complete
and life-changing movies and your vacation are gonna be seen from
another perspective, years from now when you
relieve those moments. Because again, creating
memories is one of the most powerful thing a man and people
in general can do. So when we, when we create those movies,
those timeless movies, you will be able to
grab parts of them and upload them on Instagram
if you wish as you shoot. Okay. I'm not saying that it is wrong, setting your life on
the internet. Okay. Obviously, it's
kind of what I do, but I'm just saying that you should
prioritize some stuff. You should prioritize
some things. And when you're on
vacation, you should prioritize creating memories
for yourself first. And again with this method and this system are going to
analyze in this course, you will be able
to extract parts from those movies and actually
share with your friends, with your loved ones, with your relatives
on Instagram and on any social media
app that you wish. So ladies and gentlemen, This was the fifth
problem, okay? And in general, this
was the problems. This were the problems. If you think that you pretty much are the person
that I described this 30-minute video. Then this discourse is tailored for you
and you're getting, just get a huge amount of transformative
knowledge from the scores. And I'm very happy
that this actually fits your standards
and discourse. Actually, I described
your problem here because I have the
perfect solution for you. And this is what we're
going to be analyzing in the next hours in this course.
So thank you very much. And in the next lesson, let's go ahead and outline how we're going
to proceed in creating this systematic approach to solve those five problems that were analyzed
in this lesson. So see you in the next lesson.
3. The Solution: So enough with again, arguing and crying
about the problems. This is why you enrolled
in this course. This is the name of the game. It is time to solve the problem. And more specifically,
it is time to solve the problems that we mentioned
in the previous lesson. How are we gonna do
this beautiful desk you're going to learn
in this course? But fast answer is that we're
going to create a system. We're going to be the system of shooting, sorting, editing, and creating beautiful and
timeless movies of your trips. Deconstructing the system. If you would reverse
engineered the system. It's very interesting
because these are all basic stuff and stuff that
any beginner can achieve. But the results of just the compounding effect
of all of this stuff is going to learn
in this course, in this system that we're
going to put together are going to be
absolutely breathtaking. First of all, you're
going to become a better videographer
and better photographer. And now you might argue, Hey, I'm not a videographer and
I'm not a photographer. I don't want to
become better. Know. You will become better at taking videos and
taking photographs. Because today's society and today's world is
structured around video, information flows with video. Photographs have been and will be a huge
part of our lives. You are called as a citizen
of the 21st century to be good and have some
basic knowledge when it comes to videos. If you want to dive deeper into again, knowledge of videos, I have separate courses on my channel right
here on Skillshare. But the result of
this course is that you will be substantially better at photography and
videography than you right. Now. In addition to that, did the fact that in
part of the scores, in the first part of this
course, we will discuss about some basic
videography principles. You will be able to capture a bigger and wider
variety of shots. This is very important because we will be creating movies, but by the end of the scores, and movies need to be
engaging and engaging. Movies have a wide
variety of shots. Salts that won't be hard
for you to capture again, because we will discuss some basic videography
principles in this course. Then again, information is free. You can go ahead and
watch the other of my courses and just search online if you want,
if you don't want to, about more information
on videography, it's one of the most important
hobbies to have in 2022. Now, next, the most
important point in my opinion for those
pointer here is that you won't miss on real life. You won't miss out on real life. You will be capturing, you won't be
capturing videos and photographs as you
are on vacation. But this doesn't
mean that you won't be living 100% of your life. And as I mentioned in
the previous lesson, you will be leaving 110
per cent of your life. You are called to be there. You're cool to live in
the moment when you have a camera that
you've paid for in your pocket and you try to figure out what
it's worth shooting, what is worth not shooting? You are called to
live the moment if you experience your
vacation this way, this is why you
want masonry life. More details on that, on the next lessons. Another result of the
system and we will grade is the fact that battery and storage will be
virtually infinite. I know this might sound too good to be
true, but trust me, there are ways to make battery and storage
virtually infinite. And guess what? Now,
they are not infinite. Your phone doesn't
have infinite storage. Your phone doesn't
have infinite battery. Okay? To save you some time, we will be, we will start to detach some aspects
from your phone. Because again, the
bigger picture, the bigger problem that we have, the problem would lead you to enroll in this course
right here is actually a symptom of the fact
that you're using your phone for too much
stuff on your vacation. So part of the solution
of a problem and actually the name of the game
here and the solution to the problem is to start detaching and subtracting some certain
aspects from your phone. Okay? We will subtract the aspect
of storage from your phone. We will stop storing footage on your phone
battery, of course. Okay. We can't really
the data form for mattered because this would
be virtually impossible. But we will do that storage and more information about that on the dedicated lesson
that we have in again, having the most battery and most storage at all times when your vacation
on your phone. Finally, you will
obviously create timeless memories of your favorite times with
your favorite people. And this will be done due to the movies that we will create. And these are gonna
be movies. If you check the course curriculum, you can see that
the final lesson is going to be an
editing lesson. And in this editing lesson
we'll be discussing some basic editing
principles which will, which will help you
again create movies from all the clips that
we will capture and short in our
beautiful system. This is a system, this is a systematic approach
to the problem, and this is how problems
are gold to be solved. Now these were pretty
general solutions. Again, in the
previous lesson, we discussed about five
different problems. So let's actually dig deeper into how we're going to solve each one of the problems. So the solution of problem number one is
this one right here. The problem with the way
it was the fact that you shoot videos from social
media applications. How are we gonna
solve this problem? Very easily? I'm going to introduce
you to the next lesson, two different cameras to what
a camera is towards camera. Two by two different
types of cameras to the different prices of cameras to the most value
for money cameras. And I'm gonna introduce you to a personalized way to figure out which is the best value
for money camera for you. Now, if you haven't been following this course
at this point, I pretty much know
exactly the type of person that you are in
the problems that you have? Not exactly, but
it's pretty similar if you're having
the problems that we've discussed up
until this point, then I have a very
clear understanding of which camera to use. And I'm not going to just
hit you with a very random, you need a waterproof
camera or you need a big camera
or a small camera. I'm going to suggest you a
very specific type of camera, a very specific model of
this camera, in my opinion, has the best value for money
prize because I have really, really done my research in
the field of videography, in the field of gear when
it comes to videography. So I'm going to suggest
you to the most value for money camera again
in the next lesson. So let's give this
in the next lesson. Again, each solution of
each problem is gonna be dedicated lesson
in this course. So obviously, yes, we are going to talk about the most value for
money cameras on again, if you don t want wondering like the camera that I'm
going to suggest to you, then I'm going to just use
most valuable money camera in each camera
category, then analyze. So we're going to just
analyze and compare very much pocket cameras
with bigger cameras, video cameras, DSLR cameras,
mirrorless cameras. Pocket cameras are very
much action cameras. So more details on that
on the next lesson. In each camera category who are discussing the
pros and the cons. Because I don't just want you to blindly trust me and be like, Okay, I'm gonna buy
this camera because this guy seems like he
knows what he's doing. No. I want you to know
about the pros and cons. I want you to know
about the differences between pocket cameras
and bigger cameras. I want you to know
the different prices and then I want you
to conclude again, which camera you will buy. And yes, this course involves
you buying a camera, but don't be overwhelmed,
because again, there are huge price ranges and you can find a
very cheap camera. Obviously, you don't
need a camera to follow along in this course, you can gain the information. We're just gonna be very, very valuable without
having a camera. But again, to complete and have 100% of the course
and next time you go on vacation to apply what we will learn in those lessons, you're going to need a camera. Yes. So pretty much to solve. Problem number one, you're
going to buy a camera. And in the next lesson, which we're going to analyze
which camera is right. There's gonna be a
personalized the list on the perfect gear for
you, especially. Now, let's move to solving
problem number two, problem to do with the
fact that we don't, you don't have a variety
of salts because you're thinking of social media as you shoot videos
and photographs. So this is going to
be, again eight. This is going to mean a
substantial effort of you to stop thinking of social
media while we shoot video. You need to stop thinking about Instagram, TikTok or YouTube, snapchat, Twitter, Facebook
while shooting video. So how are we gonna solve this? We will take a step back
and view the basics. I will introduce you to some essential
videography principles. And again, to have a
dedicated course on smartphone videography
and very basic, more in-depth
videography principles. But I'm going to
introduce you to some basic videography
principles that you just need to know, again to tackle this project and this trip that
you signed up for. So we're going to introduce some videography principles,
principles of composition. The different seven
different principles of composition,
principles of lighting. All of those staff are
very, very essential. We will go through some
soothing techniques to provide you with the most smooth and cinematic and
breathtaking footage while you're out there, composition and
lighting principles. And this is a rule
that we learned. I've learned pretty
much in medical school. The fact that with
20% of effort, you can have 80 per
cent of the results. So this is exactly the
rule that we can apply in the second lesson of
this course, which again, were discussing about some
basic principles with 20% of effort to learn
geography principles, we're going to massive together 80% of the available knowledge. So this is pretty good. Again, this is not even
know graphic course. This is a course
on how to make the most out of your vacation. So I think this is a very
fair deal and fair price. Let's move to solving
problem number three, the fact that you end up
missing on real life. This one is a hard one. This is a hard one salt. So I have I'm not giving
you any secrets from you. I had a very, very hard time solving
problem number three. This is pretty much
a normal thing. When we have our
minds to our cameras and not to the certain moment we end up missing on real life. This is how this happens. But every filmmaker that
being said, there are ways, as I mentioned here, to
cycle around this problem. This is not a problem that
is being sold exactly. This is a problem in which
we need to cycle around. Now, one thing is for
sure the fact that I have this problem and the fact that I haven't solved this exactly, but I am very close of living 100% of my time
when I'm on vacation. So I will show you
some tips that I have accumulated through my
years in the course of videography and
being a filmmaker and being a
videographer and going on vacation and capturing my vacation in
creating those movies, I will share to use
some golden key tips, which will help you actually
not leave 100% of your life. Because again, to live 100% and 110 per cent that we discussed
in the previous lesson, you need to be passionate
with videography, passionately photography
enthusiasts, but we will get the
best result for you. Personalized, again. To solve problem number three. But a big, big point that I have to make
here in problem number three, which is the fact that you
end up missing on your life, is the fact that your
phone your phone is the number one reason why you end up
missing on real life, the phone absorbs you,
the phone distracts you, and we shouldn't be
using our phones that much when
we're on vacation. So we're gonna be detaching the carer aspect from our phone. We discuss this up on
the problem lesson, but we are gonna be detaching completely the camera
aspect from our phone. We're going to buy a camera. I'm going to use this camera. We're going to stop
using our phones camera. You know, maybe you're
like, Hey, you know what? No. I want to be viewing
footage from my phone. You will do this. You will use your phone as a content
consumption device. You won't use your phone as
a content creation device, and you won't use your phone
as a content storage device. That being said,
obviously you will use your phone as you
conduct consumption device. Your phone has a screen and it will be used
to consume content, just not to shoot
and not to store. Let's move to the solution
of the problem number four, which is the fact that your
storage is always full and your battery
is always empty. And as we said, the
solution is very simple. We will sort each one of those tasks to the
appropriate device. Lets it go into vacation
with just your phone. It's like going to war
with just a stick. You won't last long. Something will fail you either your storage we
will either your battery will be low in more depth. I'm going to have a
complete lesson on that and we're going to
detach from the phone. We're gonna discuss
about Cloud storage. We will discuss about
external storage when it's just discuss about how
the short files in either Cloud Storage or
external storage in a perfect and an optimal in a systematic way in which again, you will be able to immediately
locate any file you wish. Because again, you
just can't use your phone for shooting and file storage and play it back and communications and
maps, it will fail you. The stick that you decided
to go to war with will fail. So this is why after we discuss about
the best camera to buy, we will discuss
about storage and discuss about battery and
have a separate lesson on how to live the moment and stop being so absorbed
in your phone. The final problem that we
call the salt is the fact that you end up living
a virtual vacation. I think that I've
highlighted by now the importance of elevating again each task to the device. Now let's see what
this will give you. You will have more free time. You will have more free
space on your phone, which means that
your phone will be faster and you will have more time and more
computing power to do things that really
matter with your phone, e.g. communicating with other people, use it for maps. Communicating and using
your phone for moms will lead to more
enjoyable locations. Because we've all been there. We take our cameras,
we should videos. The phone becomes overheated, the battery is drained, the storage is full, your phone becomes stove, you
become stressed. Why be stressed in Santorini? In addition to that, by detaching
the camera aspects from the phone and learning some
basic videography principles, we will capture better videos. And again, the result is
going to be those amazing, timeless memories that we will create at the end
of this course. So this was a brief introduction on the curriculum of the scores. I hope that you're as excited as I am because this is going to be very transformative
and very helpful. Now let's move to the next
lesson in which we're gonna dive again immediately
into solving problems. The first problem,
we're going to solve this problem number one, which is the fact
that you need to detach the camera
from your phone. So in the next lesson, this is the very highly
indivisible lesson in which we're going to analyze the different
categories of cameras. And I'm going to suggest
you the one and only in the best camera to use
while you're on vacation. So see you in the next lesson.
4. The Class Project: So thank you very
much for clean. On this video, I
actually decided to start this journey with
me and this is gonna be an absolutely transformative
process, 100%, trust me. Now, in the next lessons we will discuss about the problem, okay? Pretty much actually the symptoms that the
main problem has created when it comes
to your vacations and shooting again and
capturing your vacations. Then we're gonna
discuss how we're going to solve this problem. And then we're gonna move
into different solutions for now in this lesson right here and this small
video right here, we're going to discuss about the class project that you are called to complete by
the end of the scores, the outcome of the scores,
the class project, pretty much gold to complete is the creation of a movie from clips that you have from a previous vacation or
from a future vacation. So let's say that you've
been on a trip and you have, have accumulated some footage. I want you to grab that footage, import them into video
editing software. And based on the
editing principles that we'll discuss at
the end of this course. I want you to just construct
a movie, a timeless movie. Again, don't stress about this. We'll go through all of the different steps
on how to do that. The optimal class project
for you to produce. And the one that will
be most appreciated is actually after we've
gone through again, this systematic approach
of the problem that has been arrived and you're
called to create, to solve. I want you to follow the
basic videography principles because we are going
to discuss about videography principles,
composition, lighting. I wanted to follow those
basic videography principles. Okay, I want you to follow the key steps and the golden tips that I'm gonna
give you in this course. And finally, the basic
editing principles to actually create timeless movies in the way we will
discuss in this course. So you have two options, again, to complete
the class project. The first one is to
actually grabbed footage from a previous
treatment gone and to edit them down into
timeless movie as you will be shown in the
final part of this course. And the second class project
option you have to achieve and you're called to
do is to actually, after you go on vacation and after you have
completed this course, just write down some tips from this course and you apply
them when you go to vacation. And then you create timeless
movies the complete way. So both of those
class projects are very much appreciated and
very wandered in this course. And again, I'm an
instructor in which I love to connect
with my students. So in all of the submissions, in all of the costs projects
you're going to submit. You can submit
them down below in the class project window. I'm going to be going
through every single one of your class projects and we're gonna be
giving you feedback. So make sure you do that because
it's just a great way to connect with me as a
course instructor. That being said, I think
enough of the words. Let's move to analyzing the problem and
the symptoms that the grades in the next lesson.
5. Choosing a Camera: You very much for
clicking on this video. Time to move to the first
lesson of this course in which we are going
to analyze again, as we said in the
previous lesson, the camera, everything
that you need to know about cameras
were going on vacation. Now let's move to
the lesson outline. We're going to start with answering some of the questions. Why does shoot with a camera? Because we were talking
about detaching again the camera aspect
from your phone. But why exactly should
we shoot with a camera? All those questions are gonna be answered in this
lesson right here. Then we discussed about the different types of
cameras that you can use. Mirrorless cameras,
action cameras, DSLR cameras. Everything's
going to be here. And after that,
because I know that you will be overwhelmed from all of the
different types of cameras that we're
gonna be discussing. We're going to discuss,
discussing about the best value for money options in each and every single one of the cameras categories that
we're going to be allies. Finally, after I've laid down the facts within best
value for money options, it is time to help you decide which camera you should
use for your vacations. And I got great news for you. This is not that much of it
is a no brainer, pretty much. So let's go. First of all, why the
shoot with a camera? Why should I invest to buy
a camera when I bought this phone that goes on 1,000 bucks and it has a
great camera building. Alright, let's go
over the basics. First of all, sitting
with a camera and again, detaching the camera
from your phone. Having a dedicated device
to shoot videos and photographs produces
better image quality. And yes, I know that
not all cameras actually have better image
quality than your phone, but all the cameras we will be discussing in this
lesson in this course actually have a better
image quality and are capable of shooting in high
resolution than your phone. And I were talking about the
best phones pretty much. So. Don't stress about that. Trust me, the cameras that
I'm going to suggest you have a better image
quality than your phone. In addition to that, obviously, the second point is that you save more battery
from your phone. Pretty much battery
consumption is very tightly associated with how
much videos and how much photographs you shoot. So again, by detaching the
cameras, but from your phone, you save more battery to have. And this might not sound like
a huge point. I mean, okay. Yeah, you save
battery, but trust me, battery when you're on vacation, you pretty much know this. It is an essential, very essential element
of your phone. You need to have battery
because you're doing 1 million different stuff with your phone while
you're on vacation. You're sending emails, perhaps you're meeting
with your friends, you're discussing stuff
through messages, you wanting social media
so you don't want to have a decreased variables
and it's just because we want to
capture every moment. And in fact, you are going to be wanting to capture
every single moment. So there is no there is no reason why the low
battery percentage of your phone should
disabled you from capturing every single moment
when you're on vacation. So we're going to save battery, going to have a
better image quality. Then a very, very key point when it
comes to why we should do with the camera and why
we see this detaching and the camera from the
phone is a fact that camera footage is very easily manipulable in
post-production, e.g. in a video editing software or a photo editing software from
your phone or from your PC. Now, when you shoot
videos with a camera, footage that come out of it, It's just way more easy to manipulate it
in post-production. Can send the footage any soft in post-production editing software
and change the exposure, the vibrancy, all of those
different aspects will just make your photos
and videos look better. And if this sounds complicated
and extraordinary, don't think about video,
think about photographs. So initially bad photograph
with your phone. It is not that easily to
actually manipulate it. I mean, you can add
some filters and adjust some pretty basic
settings from Instagram. But trust me, when
we're shooting with a camera and actually have the option to change the videos and chains
of photographs, tweak the settings of the
photographs more deeply. Computers, this will create the best and optimal
results when can do better images,
embed videos, other tunes point and why
we should use it to with a camera and not from your
phone is as we discussed, the fact that you can store footage more easily
and why do we go on vacation and why do we take our cameras out
and shoot everything? Because we need to store those, put it somewhere to
actually really the moment and have those
greater feelings of installed year later when
we just review the footage. But you need to have a great storage
system to do this successfully or else you'll
just think that Okay, Yeah, I saw I went to
Italy on September, so I should scroll through September from my photo
gallery and then from there, just watch some photographs
that you like from the millions and millions of photographs that he
took and didn't delete. This is fundamentally wrong. This is not the correct way to consume footage by
adapting to the system and learning how to implicate
the system and apply this in this system in every time that
you go on vacation, pretty much acquire
footage from a camera. This will just free your hands and it will make it so much more enjoyable to relieve
the moment and review the footage
that we have created. On top of that, the fact
that we will learn how to edit all of the foods
in different movies, great movies of your
vacations, which is very, very exciting, you're going to have by the end
of irrigation. 20th 30-minute movie
that you can just press play and watch the
whole litigation going on. And you don't have to just
scroll through your phone and breads and some
photos, review them. It's going to be very exciting. But again, this needs
a systematic approach, which we're doing in
this course right here. Finally, we found using
this formula camera is the fact that you get
to live the moment. And I learned this the
hard way when I begin, when I started
filming my vacations, I was obsessed with video, so I really wanted to
film every single again, second one, I was on a
different calendar, e.g. enjoying my vacation. So I
remember I took on my phone and I just feel that everything I had begun on the vacation, 500 photos and videos, and that I was just
so overwhelmed, which guess what I did, I did absolutely
nothing with them. I didn't edit them and I just had them sitting there
gathering storage on my phone until one day I just switched phones and
there were all gone. And this is fundamentally wrong. So this is when I decided
to buy my first camera. And you know, one thing that
we're a vacation and you see something amazing
and you want to capture it when you
grab your phone out, you need to open your phone, go to the camera
and start shooting, and then this can get
saved in the camera roll. But when you have a camera,
you just take the camera out, press one button and bang. You should press the button
again, put the camera back. This just saves you
a lot of time and doesn't doesn't
disturb your day. The usage of your phone
disturbs your day. So again, this is why
we need to shade with the camera and the camera
aspect from our phones. Now, what are the different
types of cameras? This is really the key of this lesson then this is
the part where I want you to pay close attention
because this is how we're going to decide which the best camera for you. Those are the four
different types of cameras afford different
categories of cameras. Obviously, we've got
many, many subcategories, but these are the
four fundamental categories that I
want you to know. And remember. Obviously we have the
smart phone, has a camera. We discussed about the
smart phone as a camera and we don't want to use a
smart phone, has a camera. We have action cameras. Gopro is DJI NO makes action cameras is that many companies make
action cameras. These are more compact cameras, again with great image
quality grade vehicles, but again, there
are more compact, they have smaller sensors, they're easier to use. Then we've got DSLR cameras. These are some of the more
professional, if you will, cameras you can tweak a
lot of settings with them. They're made from browse. You can change different lenses, you can apply a huge
range of lenses. They're telephoto lenses,
wide angle lenses. You can tweak again
a lot of settings. And these obviously are
a bit more expensive than action cameras and
pretty much smartphones. Most, most of the cases, I'm sitting right now
this course, e.g. they dislike camera, but this
is a more professional use. And finally we got
mirrorless cameras. Mirrorless cameras, or let's say some more technologically
advanced DSLR cameras. You don't have a meter inside this white gold
mirrorless cameras, and you're going to just
tweak more settings. These are the modern
day DSLR cameras. Many professionals
shooters shoot with mirrorless cameras
rather than the SLR cameras. But again, I want
you to remember those four categories
of cameras, and more specifically,
the last three, action cameras, DSLR cameras
and mirrorless cameras. Now, let's move to
the next question, which is the best value for
money camera option for me. And I've listed the braces
of all of those cameras now, these are not specific prices. Of course we get price ranges. You can buy used, you
can buy them new. The smartphone is
just out of question. I just put it there
for reference. Now. But that action cameras
that again range from anywhere 100-500 bucks and even more cameras
with 600 bucks. Dslr cameras, which again with a lens lenses are
also very expensive. So you can have a gate
of a DSLR camera with a lens anywhere
from 500 bucks to, I mean, sky's the
limit with cameras, but you can buy a
great wrestler camera with 100, 500 bucks. And then we've got mirrorless
cameras because again, they are more
technologically advanced, they are a bit more expensive. Dslr cameras are very much, I can sense that, you know, where this is going,
which is going to be the best value for
money gamma here. But let's go ahead and analyze. It's one of those
categories because perhaps you might find that
a mirrorless camera, this law camera,
or a smartphone, fits your shooting style better. So let's go ahead and analyze with what is all
of those cameras, what is the best function of each one of those categories? In very simple terms, as we
said, an actual cameras. How good forgive abilities
give you the capabilities. And the reason why I say you can forgive abilities and
good beater capabilities. I mean, better photographs and better video than the
smartphones that we use. The key thing here is not just the fact that the image
quality and video quality that these cameras produce are better than the smartphone is
the fact that we can tweak the settings to
our personal preference. We can personalize these
settings on each one of those cameras to a
great point, e.g. we can change the e.g. brightness, the
exposure, the vibrancy, the saturation of the image. We can change the white balance, and this is not that easily done while shooting
with a smartphone. Now the main difference
between action cameras, DSLR and mirrorless
cameras is the fact that DSLR and
mirrorless cameras are usually designed to fit the needs of professional
photographers and professional videographers. Doesn't mean that you
can buy a DSLR and mirrorless cameras
for your vacation. More specifically,
this law cameras produce bro photographs. They're very good at
capturing photographs. They're not that professionally
used from videographers. But still, I'm gonna
give you example. I'm shooting this course
with a DSLR camera and the video image in the
video quality is flawless, does steal the video
that is produced with DSLR cameras is better
than smartphone video. But the thing here is that
they're harder to use. Again, you can tweak
more settings. They're not that
user-friendly, e.g. like action cameras
or smartphones. Mirrorless cameras are great. They have pro for capabilities,
Pro video capabilities. But again, as we said,
they're designed fit model standards
of a professional. But I don't want to
discourage you from buying a mirrorless
camera or a camera. Those are investments
that last because again, you buy one of those
cameras and you keep them for years and years. In general, DSLR and mirrorless cameras wants
to remember that they have a way bigger lifespan
than GoPro cameras. So these are pretty much
some very basic facts when it comes to
smartphone action cameras, DSLR and mirrorless cameras. Now let's dive even
deeper to analyze the subcategories of each one of those cameras categories. And we're going to start
with action cameras. Those are the three
manufacturers, their characteristics and then the most value
for money piece. Every single one of those
manufacturers sounds begin when it comes to action
cameras without GoPro, which produces
action cameras, DJI, the produce section
cameras and infantry 60 that I know that also
produces action cameras. Now those characteristics
are very generalized. Obviously it's one of
those manufacturers has different characteristics, but they all have those
four characteristics. These characteristics
right here. They'll produce full HD video. Obviously, most of them produce more than
four K nowadays, their final models produced 5k6k video is absolutely insane. Most of them also have amazing
slow motion capabilities. They can slow them video
and we're going to increase the frame rate while maintaining
an amazing resolution. And we're looking at about
slow motion that is way slower than your
smartphones, slow motion. So this is a huge blast. In addition to that, they
should great photographs. They're not only video cameras. Most people think
that action cameras are only designed for video, but they should Greg
photographs and they actually have many different modes, e.g. night mode, we have burst
mode, high-speed mode. You can tweak again very much the settings while
you're using a camera. On top of that, you can
sue time lapses with, I think all three of
those manufacturers. And they are still
relatively easy to use. You don't need to study
geography or to be a videographer to do have big amount of
homework if you will, use action cameras as main cameras when
you're on vacation. So this is a huge plus. Now let's get into
the more specifics, which is what is the biggest, the most value for money piece in every one of those
three categories. Now, I have a separate course when it comes to
GoPro videography for beginners in which I analyze
in depth all of the gear, all of the shooting styles, how to shoot and how to
add gold, prefer it. And this is, I think one of the most valuable pieces of
content that I have produced. But it always comes
down if I had to choose one GoPro camera to have for the rest of my life and the most value for money. In fact, GoPro camera, I think that this is going
to be the GoPro 07 black. And you can go ahead and Google the GoPro hero
Simon blockade is an amazing camera
which I think has defined line between
a great price. It is, it costs way less than 500 bucks right
now you can finally, with 200 or 250 bucks, it has a great price. It has all the
characteristics of the most modern
GoPro cameras and go pricing now has produced
the global hero ten. So it is three models behind, but still it has this fine
line between an amazing price, amazing photo and video
capabilities that again, the videos, I think it shoots
six KV, which is 100%. I think that your PC
or your screen won't have the capability to
show a six game video. So there is absolutely no reason to go ahead and
buy a camera that shoots eight gay or six K. I think that the GoPro Hero seven black, which also offers an amazing stabilization
and building stabilization. So your footage is
not very shaky, even if you're shooting handheld is the best value for
money option right here. Dji produces the so-called
DJI Osmo PAGA is a camera with a building stabilizer in mechanical gimbal inside of it. It is very easy
to use and it has a smaller footprint
actually then the goal branding stuff,
three-sixths. So the DJI Osmo pocket also produce an amazing image
quality, amazing video quality. So you're going to be very, very happy while using
the DJI Osmo bucket. And finally, we've
got these 360, pretty much produces
deans 361 arrest, which is the most
value for money action camera from instance 360. My opinion, the
thing here is that it has very much the same capabilities and
the same features, just like the GoPro
hero Simon black, the only thing is
that GoPro heroes. And yet in general, GoPro is a company that has
a great reputation and has been in the
field of action cameras for a long time. They have the experience
when it comes to manufacturing software and
hardware on those cameras. And they also have a huge variety of different accessories
to pair your cameras. To again, have more
shooting options and make your videos more interesting for many
different angles and stuff. So. This is a big reason
to choose a GoPro rather than DJI or into 360. But again, I don't
want to influence influential that hardly
in the decision, it all comes down to your
budget and your preferences. Now enough of the
action cameras. Let's move to the DSLR. Now, DSLRs are produced
from Canon, nikon, Sony. In fact, the best DSLRs and
the most value for money. These alarms are
normally produced from Canon, but we're
gonna go through that. Now the characteristics of DSLR, obviously they're either include the characteristics
of action cameras. So obviously this
with full HD video, they showed great slow motion
videos, great photographs. The thing is that they're not
that easy to use actually. But you have grade footage,
manipulation, perspective. So you can greatly
manipulate again footage in your PC or straight
from the camera. They have some broad
characteristics, e.g. detachable lenses. You can tweak the settings again before giving you the video. And the fact that we can change lenses is just a
huge blast to Y. Y to go with a DSLR
or mirrorless camera, we can change the lens
to telephoto lens, wide angle lens, and
mid-range lands. You can make the
background blurry when you're shooting with
this or mirrorless cameras. And finally, especially
the SLR cameras, they have amazing battery and mean that you can
literally have one better with you during your
whole vacation and you're going to be
done and you've not even going to
have to charge it. So the battery life
in those beasts is absolutely amazing. Now let's talk about
the most value for money options when it
comes to DSLR cameras. Right off the bat, straight up, naked and Sony just don't produce value for
money. Dslr cameras. I don t think that they
even produce these cameras. I mean, I know that Sony
doesn't produce anymore. These are cameras. Nichols DSLR cameras
are not that good. So you're gonna have to
go with a Canon DSLR. In my opinion, the
most value for money DSLR camera when it
comes to Ghana is the Canon 200 d that
I mentioned here. It is my previous camera
that I used to own. It has all the
characteristics and disgust. Just in addition to that, it is just easier to use rather than other protists
like average. So it is actually a great
bridge, if you will, between inaction camera
and a DSLR camera, just when it comes
to the ease of use. So if you're in the mediated by all the characteristics than a different lens selections
of this rock cameras. Go ahead and buy the
100 the orbit much. If you're between buying an action camera and
this law camera. But you want to engage, we want to further engage with hobby photography
and videography. Go ahead and buy
the current 200. I think it is priced
somewhere between 400 bucks used or
relatively new. So I would go with
the canon to 100 d. If I had to choose
between a DSLR camera, moving onto mirrorless cameras, again, the manufacturers
are the same. We've got Canon,
Nikon, and Sony. The characteristics are the
same with this 4D cameras. But we're talking about advanced technological characteristics when it comes to
mirrorless cameras. Mr. remember that
mirrorless cameras are more expensive than DSLR cameras. But again, these are
investments will you do once? And you just keep the cameras afterwards and
they just give you great memories from the tubes and great images
and great videos. So there's that all of the three manufacturers
actually make very great. I love the value for money because again they're
pretty expensive, but again, they
make great cameras. E.g. I. Know that the most value for
money current mirrorless cameras is the Canon EOS RB. You can go ahead
and check it out. It also has a huge variety
of lenses to travel. This camera that photo lenses, wide-angle lenses,
all that fancy stuff. The most value for money camera when it comes to
neon is the meat and z for and all those cameras
have similar characteristics. They also have a
similar price point. So there's that, in my opinion, the most value for money
mirrorless camera in general is either the Sony A7
or the Sony a 6,000. The A6 thousand is a bit more
compact than the Sony A7. So keep that in mind. If I had to choose a
mirrorless camera right now, I would buy for
only the Sony A7, but again, this has more
pro characteristics. The most easy
mirrorless camera to use for beginners is
actually the Sony a 6,000. So again, Sony 6,000, if you're going to go
with mirrorless camera, can 200 if you want to go with DSLR and go brew
hero seven black. If you want to go with a
GoPro or an action camera, I hope that you're
not overwhelmed with all of the information that
I'm giving you right now. But this, again is a very
information that I have accumulated through many
years in the filmmaking era. And I feel like I'm talking to my 16-year-old self
right now when I was starting out
with this hobby. So sorry if I overwhelm
you with information. Now let's go ahead and actually answered
the big question. Which camera should you choose? Now, if I were you, I would just lay down the facts. Okay, there'll be discussed in the first stage of the
lesson and go ahead and decide again based on the facts and based on the preoperational
personal preferences. Now, I know, I think that, I think I know the target
audiences of the scores. And the target audience are people that
just want to go on vacation and you use the shoot irrigation or
getting your smartphone. And you just tired of
having all those footage accumulating for the years
in your camera roll. And you're not exactly
videographer or a filmmaker. You're a beginner, if you will, but you're a video and
photograph enthusiast. And the key here is that
you just don't want to. Let's say dive that deep into the videography and
photography as a hobby, you just want to the data again, the camera
from your phone. You understand what I'm
saying when it comes to the Dutch in your
camera from your phone to save battery storage and all the different aspects of
talking about an ability. They just want to
enjoy your vacation, not the way virtual vacation have fun and capture
great moments. Now, if you think that
I described you when i, in the previous sentence, then this right here is the
camera you should choose. You should pretty much go with the GoPro Hero seven black. We discussed why and the key characteristics
of those cameras. But pretty much this is why these cameras are
very easy to use. They're just a bit more
complicated than your phone, but these are cameras made for the general
population again, to use their very easy and
very enjoyable to use. Their compact size
means that they fit in your pocket and just take
them out of your pocket. They fit in any
sort of backpacks. Then I'm going to give you
another great secret here. Because I've traveled
and short videos with Goebbels and I've
traveled and short videos with the huge DSLR
camera that I have. Having a smaller camera, a more compact camera
with a smaller footprint, actually enables
you to shoot videos in many locations that
perhaps a bigger camera, this alarm or a
mirrorless camera, just wouldn't be
accessible to go to e.g. let's say that you
are on a restaurant. You don't want to just grab your huge camera with
a huge less and start photographing and
the photographs of those big DSLR cameras
actually sounding. That's all the sounds. You can hear the
shutter of the camera. So you don't want to do that. You just want to grab your
phone or grab your GoPro and very slowly just
film, take photographs. This is completely silent. So in many cases,
having a GoPro, which is very compact and has very tiny footprint and
doesn't create noise. And people don't look at your round and say all
videographer or a photographer, just have a GoPro and it's very easy to use and you end
up actually shooting more than you would shoot with a DSLR or mirrorless camera. That's a huge plus and
many people don't know. But I again, have figured out that the
hard way because again, I tried to shoot with a
DSLR camera and everybody was looking at me and it
felt kind of awkward. But this is completely
diminished when you're shooting with a small action camera. That the price is great. I think this is the
fine line between NMAC Grice and amazing
image quality. 200 to 300 bucks. This is thought that I think
one would like to invest when it comes to capturing footage from your
vacation because again, you also have your phone
so you don't want to spend like thousand bucks and a great camera
when you also can do this from your phone, kinda. The image quality and
Kerberos is amazing. People tend to think that those cameras only
shoot videos greatly, but this couldn't
be further from the two humans.
Quality is amazing. The dynamic range of
those cameras is amazing, especially if you're
shooting again during sunrise or sunset. More of that, I analyze in the GoPro course, there
have been limits. Call these very good, It's
better than your phone. And in this is that
if you want to share videos on Instagram
and you want to directly shoot videos for Instagram from
your GoPro camera, you can just turn the camera at a vertical position and it automatically shoots
vertical videos. So once you upload
them, your phone, once you transfer those videos and photographs to your phone, they're gonna be in
vertical format, which is very, very cool. Now another thing with
those gamma is the fact that many people are like, Hey, I can switch lenses
on those cameras. And this one I'm gonna go with a DSLR or mirrorless cameras. The thing is that
you actually can switch lands on those cameras, but you can do this digitally, digitally in the
GoPro Hero seven black that I suggest
you actually change the focal length
of your lens from ultra-wide to wide
to narrow to linear. So those are four
different lenses, Let's say which of course
are digitally change, but still, you can change how
zoomed in and zoomed out. You can be with your camera. So this is a huge plus video
quality is just amazing. They also have buildings
stabilization, so you don't have to buy a gimbal and stuff to
stabilize those cameras. You can just shoot handheld. And again, those processors
that have building our amazing videos are going to be looking extremely smooth, way, smoother than your phone. And this is also a huge plus. And we talked about
the goal roles and the fact that they have
been in the field of action cameras for
many years now. There are amazing
GoPro accessories to add to those cameras. And I'm gonna give
you a small example, but analyze this in the group records that
have small example, there is an accessory
in which you strap your GoPro at
the back of your dog. So you can literally
see your dog running from a
first person view. And this is very cool, but they have so many
different accessories you can use to create, again, to capture videos
from many different angles. And this is really what I want you to
remember from this course. We're trying to unlock your creative elements when
it comes to videography and GoPro accessories is a great way to do that in this stuff, Let's talk about now
battery and storage. Gopro cameras have
worst battery life, worse battery life than DSLR cameras and mirrorless cameras. That being said, the
huge blast right here is that you can
buy many batteries. So we usually a battery
will last you for a day. When I was on
vacation in Italy and I logged everything
will go grow. A battery would last
me about a day, so I was cool to use
one battery a day. But if you shoot
more than me and if you want to shoot more
videos and more photographs, then you can buy
more batteries and you can have an infinite
amount of batteries. So pretty much you can
have infinite amount of battery life in your go-tos. Now we're done
with battery life. The same thing can be
applied with storage. Storage is going to be
external on micro SD card. So you could just start
with migrates, the guard, there can be a 32 gb,
64 gigabyte, 120. You might end with an SD card. Again, you're not
going to feel a 128 gigabyte SD card in one day. But even if you do
so, you can just buy another one and stabbing him
there and continue shooting. So you can virtually shoot for infinite amount
of time because we have infinite battery and infinite storage when we're
talking about Goebbels. So this is why, in my opinion, the best camera for you to
use right now is a GoPro. And more specifically, the
most value for money GoPro, GoPro Hero seven black. I hope that you're
not overwhelmed with all of the information that
I gave you in this lesson, but I'm very passionate
about cameras and very passionate about videography
and photography. And I just want to help you to conclude on the best and
most value for money camera, which in my opinion,
based on my experience, is again, the GoPro
Hero seven black. So thank you very
much for keeping up with at the end
of this lesson. Now that we've decided to which is the best
camera for you, it is time to move
on and analyze some basic videography
principles again, to assist you to become
more creative and get better salts and actually have better memories
from your vacation. So this what we're going to do in the second lesson
of this course, we are discussing about some basic videography
principles. See you there.
6. Video Principles: Composition: Now let's move into
analyze what composition is and some basic
composition principles. Because again, understanding how to elevate your
production value through correct composition
application will massively improve your videos. And again, we will
help you create more interesting salts
when you're on vacation. So let's go with the
introduction of this lesson. What is composition?
Composition is how we choose to present and
frame our subjects. And obviously when
we're on vacation, we and our beloved ones are
going to be our subject. Correct composition helps
to guide the story, create a correct
atmosphere for the video, increase the engagement
of the audience. So when we create a
beautiful again movie, because there's the
go over course to create beautiful cinematic
movies of our vacation. And these are going
to be very engaging and very fun to watch. And obviously with the
correct composition, we can also convey
certain feelings. So again, we arrange the
elements in a frame. This is what composition is to, again, a pleasing and
easy to understand way, because good understanding
of composition creates eye-catching content for
the viewers of our videos. There are two times two
types of composition. We can change
composition either by changing the framing
of our subjects. And we can also
change composition by changing the focal
length of our lenses. And we're going to dive
into both of those two. Now. Those are the composition rules we're going to analyze in
this lesson right here, we got close-ups, medium shots, establishing shots,
depth, symmetry, headroom living lines,
rule of thirds. These are all the rules that there are when it
comes to composition. And we're going to just
briefly go through them so you get a simple understanding
of what composition is. Again, if you wanna
dive deeper, have a complete course in which we dive way deeper into
each one of those rules. Now let's start with the
first rule of composition, which is the rule of thirds. Now, the rule of thirds, the frame is divided
into three sections. You can see the
vertical sections and V horizontal sections. Now the rule of thirds states
that if you place a subject along those lines which
divide the frame in thirds, this creates a more
pleasing image anymore policing video, e.g. right here you can see
that this gradient here apply the
rule of thirds and placed the subject into where the horizontal and
vertical thirds meet. Now, is there a rule of thumb, when it comes to the rule
of thirds is to place a subject eyes at the stop at the top intersection where one-third of the way
down to the frame. So you can see that here the subject's eyes are placed exactly correctly
what, where we want them. And this just creates a
better image for the eye. Obviously, we don't need a subject to apply
the rule of thirds. The rule of thirds can be
blight in landscape salts, e.g. in this case right here, the graders used the
rule of third to sub-divide in the top
part of the image, the sky, then we have the
horizon in this third. So this pretty much subdivided the horizon with a mid
ground and V foreground. So this again is subdivided
with the rule of thirds. And in addition to that, if
you could say that there is a subject in this
frame right here, and it's going to be this
tree, which again is conveniently placed in
this line right here. Same applies here. You can
see this rule of thirds. The upper thirds is this guy. The middle thirds is
the sunset, and again, the lower third is
the foreground. So again, you can see that many images, we
don't really get it, but the rule of thirds
actually apply to most of the images and videos
that we see in this too, that we don't obviously have to apply the rule of thirds
in the horizontal axis, just like these graders
have done here, we can also apply it in
the vertical axis, e.g. in the left image, you
can see that the creator applied the rule of thirds
and has in the left third, the C and the skies
in the right third, the mountain and in the
middle frame, in the middle. Third in the middle
of the frame it is where those two fuse. In addition to that,
in the right image, you can see that we have a typical representation of
this guy and the upper third, the mid ground,
the middle third, and the foreground
in the lower third. And you can see
the subject again, placed conveniently
in the right third that's subdivided
vertically the image. Now let's move to the
second composition rule, which is the rule
of leading lines. This is very basic
and you've seen this in most movies
and most images, they love leading lines. States that again, we have certain lines within
the image that lead the eye of the
viewer to the subject. This is one of the most
common composition rules. And this is actually
one of the most common composition rules to implicate in your
videos as a beginner. Now, what could
leading lines be? This could be streets,
buildings, textures, pretty much anything that guides the eye of the viewer
to the subject, as you can see, which
in this case is this woman with the umbrella. Leading lines again, can apply
to landscape photography, portrait photography
and videography, wildlife photography,
videography, urban, pretty much
anything you can see here, a great representation of the leading line
composition rules. You can see that all of those
lines lead to the subject, especially those two
lines that are lighter, they lead to the
face of the subject. So this is very interesting.
And again, many, many different textures can produce leading lines
to have in our subject. This is a great photo
that represents again, the rule of the leading
lines. We've got. Those shadows that are
placed in the foreground, which lead to this girl's face. Again also leading lines here. You can spot a linear
lines by yourself. The horizon is a
leading line that leads to this central
subject of a frame. And this is also a leading
line that leads this, this road full of rocks that leads to the
entrance of the surge, which again is the subject of our frames, so
pretty much irrelevant. Remember that the leading
line rule of composition. Blight natural elements
and natural lines seen in your photo to guide the eye of the viewer
to the subject. Now let's move to the
second rule of composition, which is again the
rule of headroom. Now headroom is pretty
much the distance between the head and the
top of the frame. You can see an example
of decomposition of headroom in this
image right here of me. Pretty much if you have
increased headroom, which means that the
distance between the top of the frame and
the head is increased. This will lead to
an awkward result. And if headroom is really, really decreased, this will lead into a claustrophobic result. This will seem a bit awkward
and because the phobic, so this is the rule of headroom. Let's see some examples here. There's too much headroom. This result is awkward in
this image right here. And also this doesn't
apply only in photographs. This also applies in videos. Image a e.g. is a perfect image of just as much
headroom as you need. Also this framing
right here of me has as much framing and as
much headroom as it needs. But image B, as you can
see, doesn't have headroom. It looks like it's cropped
in and just leads to this cluster fabric result
which in fact no one wants. This was headroom, very
basic rule of composition. Again, we don't dive that deep. We can just dive deep
into each composition, unreasonable because
this will take hours. Now let's move to the fourth
composition principle, which is the symmetry
composition principle. Now, symmetry pretty
much has pros and cons. You can see this is a
symmetrical image, e.g. this object is in the
middle of a friend. All of the lines
lead to the subject. So the rule of symmetry, rule of leading
lines and rule of thirds actually all
are combined together. The pros of the rural
symmetry is that again, this really appeals to the eye. Look, this looks
very satisfying. Some of the cons is that
it might look staged and it might get repetitive if you overuse the rule
of symmetry, e.g. this image right here,
you can see that it kinda looks stage. It's very symmetrical to
be just a normal shot. But again, this won't be a problem with yourselves
because again, I don't think that
we're going to stage the videos that we produce on our
vacation. Now e.g. here you can see that
the rule of symmetry produces dynamic and
exciting photographs. This doodle of symmetry, we have this line right
here and asymmetrical you and point because of
the reflection in the lake. Also hear reflections are a great point of
symmetry because again, everything is just reflecting
the bottom of the frame. This is the loop in
France, I think. Then we're moving to
the rule of depth. The depth is pretty
much created by highlighting the difference
between foreground, midground, background
and subject. You can see that all of
those images actually apply and adhere to
the rule of depth. Because again, the foreground,
the middle ground, the subject and the
background are separated. You can set the foreground. We have those blurry
grasses in the mid ground, we have the subject and the
background is also blurry. Same applies here
in the foreground. We have those leaves
in the mid ground, we have the subject
and the background. We have those mountain. Same thing here,
same thing here. Depth is achieved either by strategic subject placement or by changing the lens
of your camera. We're not going to dive
deeper into lens selection, but keep in mind that
strategic subject placement can change the depth
of your image. Given example here, this subject was strategically placed in the foreground of this frame to again add depth to the image. Now, I'm applying the rule of depth, the roof composition. When it comes to
depth, increases the drama, the emphasis, and the pleasure to
the eye of the viewer. So this again is an image with depth and this is
a dramatic event. So pretty much depth in Greece, the drama and emphasis in
the subject, because again, we detach the subject
from the background and the foreground while
playing with his rule. Now let's move to the
different types of salts to change the composition
of our videos. These are establishing shots,
medium salts and closeups. So let's start with
establishing shots. Establishing shots are salt that introduced new scenes and tell the viewer when and where
the action is happening. And they can also set
up a point of view or help develop a character
pretty much established. Salts are the first
shots that you want to introduce your viewer to where the action is happening. This and establishing Salt
from, I think Skyfall, which again introduces
us the viewers to where the whole
action is happening. You can see some information
about the storyline. You can see the great
goddess, the old house. So you know what is
going on in this data? Again, this is an establishing
shot from Harry Potter. You can see the castle in the school where
everything's happening. And usually we use
establishing salts to start and end a sequence. Then we got medium shots. We can pretty much are a
bit zoomed in or we just move closer to the subjects
to film medium salt. If you compare this
to establishing Salt, which I just zoomed out and wide angle
salts of the place, metering salts are a
bit more zoomed in. Usually salt at 24 to 40 mm. But you don't have to
stress about this. If you're using a Goldberg,
you have one fixed lens. If you set it at
wide or linear mode, this is going to
be a medium shot. I want you to know that
most parts of a video, or actually medium range shots, and this is the type of
composition and the type of shooting that we're
going to focus the most in this course right here. Finally, we have close-up shots which are salts
in which you just bring the camera closer to the subject or
you just zooming. We're not going to use this that Martino in our vacations, but these increase the drama, the motion just create this uncomfortable
feeling for the viewers, which sometimes we might want actually to make the
viewers uncomfortable, just like in this
thriller right here. Now finally, you can see the two different types
to achieve a close-up. So you can either move
close and shoot at a wide angle or you can move back and zooming
with your camera. This will produce
the same result, but just a more
blurry background if you move away and zoom
in with your camera. And now we're going to
end this lesson with some composition
tips that again, I have acquired through those years in the
filmmaking field. The first thing that
I have to give you is that you need to have a wide variety of different shots and different
composition principles, again, deliver an
amazing result. Don't be afraid to apply two or more composition
principal at one shot. And again, don't be afraid in
general to break the rules. This is a very creative
field and you don't need to adhere and apply to every
single rule that we discussed. Again, the best results come from creative
mistakes, if you will. So just don't be
afraid to break rules. The $30 gives you
is that you need to get inspired by
other creators. So if you're
interested in creating again, those 20-minute movies, those tiny minute
vlogs from your trip, go ahead and actually watch others that have
created the same thing. This will give you great ideas. Next, make sure to
experiment, go out, have fun obviously, and
experiment with different salts. Your first video
won't be perfect. But if you go ahead, actually improve and go out and
shoot and edit and improve, this will massively help you produce again,
better movies. This was composition. This where some basic composition
principles that I want you to have in mind when you're outside on vacation shooting
with your GoPro is, as we said, we discussed
about frame rates, we discussed about
the resolution, we discussed about
composition principles. Now, to end this
basic videography, if you will, subdivision
of the scores, we will discuss about some basic lighting principles to again, make sure that you're probably equipped to continue
with this lesson and that you're confident
when you're outside your vacation filming
with your GoPro. So in the next lesson,
we're going to discuss about some basic
lighting principles.
7. Video Principles: Frame Rates and Resolution: Hello everybody
and welcome to the second lesson of this course. In this lesson right here,
we're going to dive into videography basics
because again, of course, we talked about
cameras were talking about the most value
for money cameras, which of course are gold rose. And we concluded that the best value for money
option for you right now is the GoPro
Hero seven Blackwell, chances are that it is a GoPro here is black because obviously you could go with a mirrorless
camera or a DSLR camera. But now it's time to dive into more some videography basics
that you need to know about, frame rates, composition, resolution, lighting principles. Now, we'll go through the slides right
here in this lesson. But before we go, I just want to say that
I have a complete course that is dedicated in teaching you everything you need to know about videography and more specifically,
smartphone videography. So if you're interested in the slides of this
lesson right here, and you're actually interested in those videography principles. Make sure to go
ahead and actually enroll in my other
course in which again, I analyze everything when it comes to smartphone videography. That being said, in the
first part of this lesson, we're going to analyze frame
rates and resolutions. So let's go and let's
start with frame rates. Now, what is the frame rate? Pretty much, remember
that a video is just multiple photos
blade at high-speed. And this goes anywhere
from 24 images per second up to more than
20,000 images per second. It depends on how much you
want to slow down your video. And now that image
is per second, the amount of images per
second that displayed. This is called the frame rate. Now why are we interested
in frame rates? Because the bigger the amount of frames that
are played per second, the more we can slow clips down. So this is why
we're interested in learning what frame rates
and resolution needs. These are two key components of the software of
your video camera. So let's go ahead and dive
deeper into frame rates. First of all, let's start
with the anatomy of the eye. Now note that p i
views the world. We view the world at
24 frames per second. Everything else
will seem glitchy. So it might seem
like a bit laggy. Anything more? We just don't understand it, so we'll just view everything
at 24 frames per second. The most common frame
rates to be seen on cameras are 24
frames per second, 30 frames per seconds, 6,120.200 and20.240 frames per second. Now remember, this is a bit
of a complicated topic, but if the I used the world
at 24 frames per second, this means that a video that
is shot at 60 frames per second can be slowed down twice. So if we divide 60 times du, this is going to get us 30.30 frames per second are more
than 24 frames per second, which means that it
won't seem glitzy. This is why we're going to
play two times slow motion in a 60 inner clip film
that 60 frames per second we're going to play
five times slow motion. Of course, in a
clip that is sorted 120 frames per second and ten
times no motion at a clip, the result at 240
frames per seconds. So that's pretty much how you apply slow motion to a camera. If you have a GoPro and you set it to 60 frames per second, you will receive a clip that
can be slowed down twice, respectively, 120
frames per second. You can slow this
clip down five times 240 cents and you can slow
this clip down then times. So this pretty much how
we apply slow motion. Now these are the
different cameras and the different ranges of frames per second
that they can shoot. Phones can shoot, I think, up to 120 frames per seconds. So you can scroll this
down again, four times. Dslr cameras usually shoot anywhere 24-120
frames per seconds. So again, similar to the phones, GoPro cameras can meet up
to 240 frames per seconds. So you can stole this clip
down again, 10%, ten times. And those are those huge
slow motion cameras that can shoot anywhere
from 24 frames per second, 2000 frames per second. Because again, these
are cameras made to shoot at high frame rates
to stoke lips down. Now why shouldn't I
be always shooting at the highest frame rate available if I have bought a GoPro, that of course suits or
240 frames per second, and I'm telling
you that there is no Actually visual difference, 24-240 frames per second. Why should we always be shooting at the highest
frame rate available? Well, obviously there are pros and cons while shooting
at high frame rates. The pros is that obviously when we see
that high frame rates, so we have the ability
to slow the clips down. This gives us the ability again to slow clips down
in post production. In this lab, we have
a high clarity of image if you're shooting at
higher frames per second, but this is not easily viewable. Now cones is obviously that higher frame rates eat
more battery, okay, they drain the battery
and the of course produce bigger
files, huge files. So this is pretty
much the reason why we don't tend to shoot every single clip of ours
at a very high frame rate. Obviously, we're going
to have the luxury of post-production slow
motion application and an increased
probability of image. But the battery of the camera is going to be
drained more easily. The files, I'm gonna get bigger. And when we're
talking about GoPro, we said that they don't have
the optimal battery life, which means that we might need to be careful with
the battery consumption. So what is the recommended
frame rate if you bought a GoPro and you
want to actually do, again capture your
vacation with a GoPro. What? This right here is the recommended
amount of frame rates. Again, to shoot with
your new GoPro camera, there's going to be
60 frames per second. And I know that this
was kind of rushed, but in my opinion, this is the fine line
between a frame rate that gives you the opportunity
to slow your clips to time while maintaining battery
life and producing files that are not that huge
again and easy to store. So when you buy your new GoPro. Make sure to set your frame rates on your video
at 60 frames per second. Again, this gives you
an opportunity to slow the clips down twice. So times two, and we don't consume them as battery
as well as storage. So this was a brief introduction when it comes to frame rates. I gave you the magic number, which is 60 frames per second. Now, let's move to
the resolution. What is the perfect resolution and what is resolution
in general? So as you know, you may
or may not know actually, there is low resolutions
and higher resolutions. Lower resolutions basically
mean that we have a decreased amount of pixels
and detail, if you will, in your screen higher
resolutions me that we have a bigger amount of
pixels in the screen width, of course, is directly
proportional to a big best and better image quality. A low number of pixels could
be a little resolution, could be 240 P. This means 240 pixels in the
screen, in your screen. And then higher resolutions
are more than ten AB, which means that we
have more than 1080 pixels in the screen. Obviously there are higher
as loosen this we've got for k6k8 gave. So again, there's no ceiling
when it comes to resolution. Now let's see which type of camera has been used in different types of resolutions. Again, anything
below them, 720 B is on a very, very old cameras. So we pretty much have
a baseline of full HD, which is ten ADP, NADP. This law cameras, of course, are capable of producing it. Nab full HD video
mirrorless cameras also phones also go pros Also. Now above full HD, which of course 1080
pixels than in the beam, we got 2.72, 0.4 K to win seven k for k and all of
those grades resolutions. Now, usually phones are capable
of shooting up to four k. So there's that for k. Our phones pretty much
suited for k nowadays. Mirrorless cameras also
suited for gay men, DSLR, or mirrorless
cameras suited for K. We not go pros nowadays
also shoot at 2.4 k, 2.7 k for k6k. So again, new cameras and the cameras that I suggest
you in the previous lesson, Gansu, that those
high resolutions. Here is the question that we
had also in the frame rates. Why shouldn't I always be shooting at the
highest resolution? I bought my GoPro camera
because you can see that six k. Why shouldn't I be always
shooting add six gig? I think you know the
answer of this question. Just like frame rates resolution
has its pros and cons. The pros of increased
resolution, e.g. for k or six K is the fact that we have increased
quality of video and be better sharpness and
better quality in our image, the videos look better. The cons is obviously that
we've increased our solutions. We need more computing power of the camera to produce
this resolution. So we have increased memory consumption and
increased storage consumption. And this is again, the main problem we're pursuing with increased resolutions, shooting at four K
constantly will drain your battery and will
produce huge files. So again, just like we said, that the 60 frames per second
is the ultimate frame rate. We need to find the
ultimate resolution. And I have found the ultimate
resolution again through trial and error of
those many years. This right here is the
suggested resolution that I have to suggest to you when it comes to shooting with a GoPro. In my opinion, I
actually shoot all of my clips at 2.7
k. In my opinion, this is the perfect
resolution because again, you have a very, a great image with
increased clarity, increased sharpness, very
bright and beautiful image. So great video quality. This doesn't consume
that much battery. And in addition to that,
the files that are graded are not that huge. They're big files,
but still they're not those huge files at
fork a video producers. So again, the killer
combination here, the killer combo
is a resolution of 2.7 k at 60 frames per seconds. So we combine again this beautiful resolution
with this key frame rate. And we have the
so-called 2.7 k, 60. Again, 2.7 k resolution
and 60 frames per second. Set your new GoPro camera to those settings and forget about
camera settings for good. So pretty much this is what I
had to say when it comes to frame rates and resolutions.
This was a brief lesson. And again, if you want
to dive deeper into frame rates and resolutions
and videography basics, I have a complete course not. Now let's move into some basic composition
principles we're going to discuss in the next lesson.
8. Video Principles: Lighting: So welcome everyone
to this lesson, to the second
installment of again, the videography basics
lesson of this course. In this lesson right here we're discussing about lighting. So we discussed
about composition, the importance of composition. The different
composition principles are good leading lines, that rule of thirds, all
of that great stuff. And I want you of obviously
not the dig very deep into each one of the compositional
principles because this is not a course on videography, have a separate course on again, videography basics and
smartphone radiographic basics. But now it is time to actually invest some of our time
into understanding lights. Because as we're gonna discuss
in this lesson right here, understanding properly how to use lights is more important
than actually investing in very expensive camera and
using this camera basically the understanding of
lighting is more important than the understanding
of the camera settings. As weird as this may sound. Now, enough of the introduction, let's move to
actually the goal of this lesson and then
different types of lights, which of course there are and we can use to light our scenes. Now. First of all, I want
you to remember again, will we said that
good lighting is more important than
a good camera. And when I say good
lighting, I'm not only referring to studio lights, I have in my room right here. Good lighting can
actually be natural. Sunlight from the sun was gonna be diffused
from the clouds. We're going to talk
about diffusion from the clouds later in this lesson. Now many times in
this lesson I'm going to mention some of the gear pieces that you might need or might want to invest
in when it comes to light. But again, this
is a course which focuses on vacation videography
and vacation shootings. So pretty much it is
not that relevant. I just want you to understand some basic lighting principles. So we're good with
that chapter when you can move on with again, discussing and further analyzing this whole systematic approach
into vacation shooting. So broad understanding
of lighting, remember, it is way better than investing all of your money in
a great camera right? Now. Let's move on. Good lighting. What is the goal and what is the result of lighting
a scene properly? First of all, we know
that different lights delivered different moods. When it comes to the
subject of the video, we have top-down lights
would make things more scary or how sideways
light and backlight. All of these lights and all those different
lighting principles are there to deliver different
moods and different tones. Do our videos. Now you might argue, Hey, okay, I'm going to
be shooting outside. It's going to be vacation. How I'm going to deliver different moods
based on the light. Well, even the outside life and even the sunlight actually
helps deliver different moods. E.g. if you have a video shot in three BM with hard sunlight
during the summer, it's gonna deliver a different
mood from a video that is salted during sunset
or during sunrise. So again, the lighting of a scene helped deliver
a different mood. To that. Good lighting
is budget independent. Again, you can find
great lighting for free outside if the
conditions are proper. And of course, good lighting
also improves the visuals. There are certain steps
that you can apply to your video in which we utilize the correct lighting that comes from either an outside
source or inner sources. And we have better visuals when it comes to our videos
and our photographs. And I just don't want you to
remember that good lighting is not only available for bros, lights are obviously free. Everything is laid for
free from the sun. And again, learning how to use, utilize this will give you a massive advantage when it
comes to your videographer. Let's move on. I want you to
remember that if you pay close attention to
lighting and correct, invest in a year, then you can also use natural light when
this is available. So pretty much if you want a complete approach
into lighting, you need to pay attention to this lesson or other lessons
to teach about lighting. Again, I go way
deeper into lighting in my course when it comes
to smartphone geography. So firstly, learn the basics, then you invest in some lights, just like I have
invested right here. And finally, you'll learn how to utilize the light that is seen. Of course, the natural
light outside. Now, in your case, of course, we can bypass the investing the correct year
apart because again, we're not focusing in this course right here to
suit actually indoors. But again, it's
just good to know. Now it's just about the
goal of this lesson. Let's move to the
different types of lights, and this is really what I
want you to pay attention. The first type of light is
hard light or harsh light. Hard light. Remember that this
is the definition, the definition of hard light. How light is light that
comes without a filter. It is unfiltered.
It's bright, glaring, and can cast shadows, but can be useful in creating
high-contrast images. Now, in other words, hard light, hard light, or as we call it in
videography, is very creative. We use harsh light for
creative purposes. That being said, when we're shooting videos on vacations
or during travels, we don't want to be that
creative with lighting. We just want to really capture the experience
as it is at that moment. So as a rule of thumb, I
want you to remember that, especially while sitting
with our Goebbels, we are going to
try to avoid hard. Light and there
are ways to avoid hard light by diffusing it. We're going to talk
about diffusion of light later in this episode. Now, I want you to
remember that we're trying to avoid harsh, harsh light as much as possible. There is natural harsh light and literally
studio harsh light. It all depends on if we're gonna diffuse the light source or not. Also calls attention in
this image right here. This image right here
is an image that requires high dynamic
range to be captured. What does this mean? This means that we
have very dark shadows and very bright highlights. You can see the silos are almost black and the highlights
are almost white. This means that the different aspects of shadows and
highlights in our image, I'm going to be of a huge range. And this requires a camera with a bigger sensor and
more computing power. On an image like this, a mirrorless camera or a
DSLR camera would actually have a better performance
than a GoPro camera. But again, due to the fact
that we're not shooting in harsh sunlight frequently when we're out on vacation and we're
trying to avoid actually, I suggest you to buy GoPro and not a DSLR and
mirrorless camera. But for occasions like this, obviously this law or a
mirrorless camera are key. So again, these are some
other implications of Hard Light gave
grades drop shadows. It is artistic, it is creative. But again, you can see
that it is just not the best type of light to
have to remember our trips. So as I mentioned right here, it is usually not recommended. Now, where can we find
natural harsh light? This is the mid-day sunlight. If the sun, as we said, harsh sunlight is
pretty much sunlight that is not diffused. Now, a diffuser is pretty much a screen or a
protective, let's say, membrane that comes
and is placed between the light source and
the subject to make the light more and more clear. This we're going to discuss
later in this episode. Now, a natural type of
diffuser are the clouds. But if we don't have clouds, if it's not a cloudy
day and we have a direct contact of the
sunlight and the subject. This is bad and this create Ralph shadows with
stresses the cameras, sensors, and it usually
needs to be avoided. This is why as a rule of thumb, especially when we're
shooting with GoPro, is we're trying to avoid
shooting on midday and we try to shoot more during
sunrise or during sunset. Now obviously, if
you're on vacation, okay, you are going
to shoot during. So we are gonna be
exposed in hard light. But again, let's try to minimize it as much as possible
because again, it's going to create rough shadows and it's
going to just stress the camera sensor
for no great reason. Again, the results with hard
light or not, that optimum. Now, let's discuss about the filmmakers best
friend, soft light. And as we said, soft light, hard light with a diffuser weren't talking about
an artificial environment. The hard light source
is going to be again, an LED light or a light beam. And the diffuser source is
going to be a diffused filter. And this creates the
so-called soft light, which again delivers this soft and diffused
light throughout the scene. Here you can see
the difference e.g. of a portrait of this person between hard light
and soft light. Again, this diffusion
spreads the light, it evens it out and creates a soft and gentle effect
in this person's face. And you can see this because
the dynamic range produced from a soft light source
is way less spectrum, e.g. here you can see
very dark shadows, very bright highlights. Here we have smoother
shadows, smoother highlights, and this is the optimal case to not stress our
cameras sensors. And if Gold Plus have one
flow is the fact that they have small sensors and they are very litigate don't produce a
great dynamic range. So you want to avoid hard sunlight when we're
shooting with gold. So you can see that this
person is amazingly lit. Obviously, this is a controlled lighting environment and this is why it is so successful
for lighting this person. Now, again, self-love
is a creative favorite. This is a scene of a video
clip shot with soft lighting. It is a great favorite. It is the most used
type of lighting is the best looking and it's very easy to produce soft light. But if you don't want
invest in studio, which of course you're not
going to because we're talking about a vacation
shoot right here. You can create
natural soft light. Let's talk about how
to produce soft light. So first of all, have a source. We add diffusion is
diffusion can be anything from if we're talking about S3
environment, of course, white card stock to newspapers, to anything that again spreads out even in even the light. And again, this could
be feeling papers, reflectors, bedsheets,
shower curtains, pretty much everything
that can diffuse the light between the
source and the subject. This is where I want
to stay for a moment. This is a very important slide. Harsh sunlight, in
addition to clouds, gives us the best
quality of soft light. Clouds are a source
of natural diffusion. I think, you know why? Because the clouds,
once again targeted with this natural
harsh sunlight source, they diffuse the light
throughout the area. And again, when
you're on vacation, you probably don't
want it to be cloudy. This is gonna be a
bummer. But if you're a filmmaker and you're on
vacation and there are clouds, you know, that your videos
are going to look way better. Your camera is not
gonna be that stressed. Again, the result that you have from your
videos is going to be the optimal and this is the
best quality of soft light. Again, you can use
natural sunlight to shoot even if you're in
your places indoors. Again, remember that
natural light and natural diffuse light is better than studio light against the quality of natural light is always better
than studio light. The only problem is
that natural sunlight fluctuate and studio light
is always continuous. We can of course, switch on and switch off the
lights and it's going to be the same thing
all over again. But natural light is
subject to changes. Obviously, we're
going to have clouds that disturb it each day. The seasons of course, change the vibrancy and the exposure
of natural sunlight. Again, to use natural light, we're going to have
the key light, which is either going to be the light outside or just
a window in your place. And you can also diffuse
it by yourself by carrying a diffuser outside or just placing a diffuser
in front of your window. But again, it's not recommended, especially if you
are on vacation. Now we've got studio lights. Let's not focus on
scooter lights. I get more in-depth and pseudo
lights in my other course. But just remember that
if you're going to ever invest in studio lights, make sure to buy LED lights, which are the best studio
light source to use. They don't produce heat, they're long-lasting, their
energy efficient, they're lightweight, and they
are battery powered roots means that they can be mobile. Now, this is what I
have to say you when it comes to lighting, we discussed about
again composition. Now, we concluded
about lighting. One thing that I want you
to know from this lesson, because again, I went very
fastly through the slides. I go in depth in the
other course that I have. But if I wanted to
remember something, is that let's try to avoid harsh mid-day sunlight
as much as we can. This is gonna be our
number one enemy when we're shooting
with Goebbels. And I know that I've again, I've presented GoPro as the ultimate camera
for your case. And I think that it is the
camera honestly for your case. But this, if you will, is a flaw of Goebbels. They don't have the
best results when it comes to shooting
in heart sunlight. You will see that
if you're out in the media and it's
not cloudy and it's 01:00 P.M. or 3PM when the
sun burns the most and you do have this direct light
source on your subjects. You can see that the shadows
are going to be very dark. Highlights are going
to be very wide. So try to navigate
around this problem. Now how do we navigate
around this problem? We got three solutions. The first solution is to
shoot during sunrise, because during sunrise the
light is not that hard, but it is more diffused. The second option is to
suit if it is cloudy. So again, if it is cloudy,
you have no stress. Get your camera outside,
starts shooting, capture stuff, no problem
for the sensor whatsoever. The third obstinate job is
to shoot during sunset. Sunset is my favorite time to shoot as a videographer
with any camera, of course, GoPro sensors are going to be stressed
with harsh sunlight, but also these aren't
mirrorless cameras. Sensors aren't going
to be stressed. It's just the fact that mirrorless camera
and this allows, are going to perform just a
bit better than Goebbels. Now please don't be scared of
shooting in harsh sunlight. Okay, I might have
presented it a bit more dramatically
than it really is. Your GoPro is going
to do just fine. These are action cameras made to shoot at anytime of the day, but I'm just one of you to have the best results which
are going to help us in the post-production
editing part of the scores. So if you can just
avoid harsh sunlight, shoot during sunset,
during sunrise, or if it is cloudy. If you can't avoid harsh
sunlight, it is fine. Everything can be changed and other during
post-production. So this was the lesson
when it comes to lighting. And you very much,
I'm going to see you in the next lesson.
9. File Storage System: Hi everybody and welcome
to, in my opinion, one of the most transformative
lessons of this course. If you want to keep
the information of one lesson
during this course, make sure that this right here is the lesson in this
lesson right here. And I'm saying that this is a transformative lesson for
you because the stuff that I'm going to teach you in
this lesson are stuff that I have really learned
through experience. No one has taught me this stuff and it's
really made my life, my filmmaking life,
so much easier. In this lesson right
here we were discussing about file storage,
file sorting, and really how to
instantly know where every single video
that you've ever taken is located and
how to locate it. Literally seconds. Imagine how refreshing it would be to literally want a
photograph of one of your trips. And with seven clicks, you have this photograph
or you have this video. And the best part of all of this is that by the end
of this course, you won't even have to search for those photographs
and videos because again, we're going to create big movies that incorporate all of those
photographs and videos. But for now, I want you
to focus and follow along to understand how to create this file
sorting system. This is one of the most
important things that I need you to understand
when it comes to filmmaking, this will make your
life way easier. And again, this will just make your footage stand
the test of time. So this is how we're going to function in
this lesson right here, we're going to
create a new folder. And this folder, we're gonna, I'm gonna show you
how to categorize footage based on the timing, the location, and the camera
in which they were salt. And everything's
gonna make sense. I'm going to give you an example and we're
gonna go through this process together
on how to again, store footage inhabit for
the rest of your life. That being said, let's go ahead and there's going to be
my documents folder. This is the place where
we're going to create this new folder
with all the votes, storing principles and systems. So let's go ahead and
actually create a new folder. And let's say that this
is your new hard drive. Because as I said in the
beginning of this course, I really encourage you to buy a hard drive,
having your PC. And in general, we're
going to be touch the aspect of hard drive and file storage
from our phones. So preferably, again, the
ultimate setup for you to shoot with a GoPro and then take the SD card out of
a GoPro to your PC, to your computer, and then in the computer
having hard drive connected to store all of your
files successfully there. Let's assume that you
bought a hard drive and these go very cheap. You can buy it from
a Black Friday sale or something like that. Very cheap again, for
what you're getting, you're really getting
lifetime access and storage of footage and really decompress
your form from all of those
unnecessarily gigabytes. So let's say that this is
your hard-drive right here. Just ignore the documents name and let's create a new folder. Let's actually say
that this new folder is your hard drive. So this is the hard
drive or hard drive. Now, if we open our hard drive, Let's select this
view right here. So let's say that this
is our hard drive. So inside our hard drive, we're going to further
subdivided and create sub folders because
obviously the name of the game and the core of
the system is just creating subfolders to the
point in which we can locate each file
very, very easily. So let's create some folders and subfolders I'm
going to create. As soon as we enter
our hard drive, are going to be
based on the year in which each photo video
edit is going to be shot. Don't worry, everything's
gonna make sense. So let's say the first
folder is gonna be 2022. Now in my case, I'm obviously a filmmaker
from some years now, so I got folders away 2015-2022. But let's say that we created 2021 sub folder
2020, some folder. And you find files from each one of those years and might find some random files
from your phone. And you just sort them in
each one of those years based on the principles
are going to discuss in this lesson, note that you don't have to actually start sorting
files in this system. Then I'm going to
show you right here. As you shoot new files, you can actually sort already
sought files in the system. So you can literally
start storing your files into hard drives as soon as you've finished
with this lesson. So that's very exciting. So let's say that
these are all of the years that you have salt foods and you
have accumulated for it. It's probably more
years than this. But just for reference point, let's say that you've
got 2019 to 2020. To also note that if
you're using a Mac, it automatically
sorts the heart, the folders, and the file names based on the
numerical order. So the smaller number is above and the larger
number is below. Now let's say e.g. that
we're shooting in 2020 2.1 to access our files
that were shot on 2022. Now, I'm going to
grade more subfolders. I want you to prepare for that. So the sub folders I'm going to create in each one of
the different years of folders located
initially are going to be a videos subfolder, a photos folder, and add it. Subfolder. A vlogs, some holder. And I like always degree
this up a little. It's called random phone stuff. And also sometimes
they also create some sub-folders which
are called document, in which spoiler alert, I saved some of my documents. But you can literally have new
hard drives for documents. Just ignore the documents one, I'm just adding
it for reference. Now let's analyze width. What do we add in each
one of those subfolders? So obviously, that's all with the videos
subfolder, subfolder. We're going to obviously short video and we're going
to store our videos there. But again, we're going to
combine them and create more subfolders so we know
where each group is located. Same thing will happen
with the photos folder. And I like to think of the videos folders as two
folders with raw footage. We're never going to access
the video sub-folders. Just to watch a video. We're going to watch
our videos from the edits and the
vlogs subfolder. So using the videos
and the photos, footage of those
two sub folders, we're going to create
beautiful blogs and edits of our vacation. Vlogs are gonna be
those 20-minute movies that we're going to learn how to create video of the scores. So again, we're going to use
footage from the videos and the photos subfolder and
construct beautiful blogs. And then this dot
edits are gonna be some cinematic videos that
we'll learn how to create. Not in this course have a
completely different goals in which I show you
how to create barrels, which are pretty much the
edits I'm referring to, which again, are gonna be
stored in the edit section. Now V random font stuff. So Folder, pretty
much good goal, either on the videos or
the photographs because random phone footage is
either videos or photographs. But sometimes they're
so random that they're not capable of being sub-categorize them
one of those folders, I really just sometimes
have a random font stuff, some folder for some very
random phone videos. So let's grab the raw foods sub-folders,
which as we said, is the videos and the
photos folder and the file sorting and the sub categorizing in both of those are voters
are gonna be the same. Now, let's take it
from the beginning. We started with a
hard drive, then we subdivided based on years, then in each year, and these are obviously apply
to each one of those years. So in all of the years, I'm going to create
those subfolders. Now. We sub categorized on the type of footage we're going to see in
each sub folder, e.g. vlogs, videos, random Falstaff bottles.
You get the point. Now let's start with regularizing
videos and photographs, which are again, are the
raw footage subfolder. Now, in those sub folders, we're going to now sort
based on location. And this, in my opinion, as I've found
through experience, is the best way to
locate the file. So obviously when we're
shooting a video, we are located in some
place on this planet, e.g. creating a new folder
from our Italy trip. Okay. To store the
video that we shot. Or a new folder with scold
summer in Santorini, or a new folder which is called, let's say, biking
in Athens, e.g. Greece. So pretty
much we sort based on location here and the same thing is going
to apply to photograph. So say we had a photo shoot
with shoes, we type shoes. Photo shoot in Germany. Just random stuff. Obviously there's didn't occur. But again, we sort
based on location. So we know each one of the suits that we did
based on location. And it's what if you
had two summers and suddenly in the same year, if you had two trips
into the room, you can say someone's
had Lorine one and summer in Santorini too. Okay. So this is very easy. Again, nothing very stressful. I think it was straight
forward up until this point. Now, here comes more
sub-categorize. There's gonna be the name
of the game again in this city in each one
of those folders. Now, we're going to
further subcategorize based on the day
of the trip, e.g. let's say we had
three days in Italy. They want sorry about that. Day one, day two, day three. So now we can further based on the date
and this again will help us sort identify footage and remember when
each salt was filmed. Now, if you're OCD and
you want to really perfect the system in
each one of those days, we're going to actually
create new folders based on the places in which we sort each one
of the clips, e.g. in day one, let's
say we went in Rome. Okay. Let's say that we went
biking in day one. Let's say that we also are no aid in a great place and
we took videos of that place. This is the ultimate footage storing mechanism right here. So in each one of
the activities. Pretty much that
because those are activities in each day, we sort in inside categorized based on the activities
that we did in that day. Now, in each one of
those activities, this is the name of the game and this is the part which I
want you to pay attention. Now, we further sub categorized based on the camera in which
we shot the clip, e.g. biking, we used the
GoPro Hero seven black. And I want you to be very
detailed based on the camera. I want you to write
the whole model of a camera in which you
sought the clips. It might sound irrelevant
because you're gonna be like, Okay,
yeah, I got one. I got one camera. Why should
I write the whole name? I know it's a GoPro. No. Because as your
path as you go on, you're going to buy new
camera and new gear. And it's gonna get very, very frustrating to see GoPro. And you're gonna be thinking
that this is going to be footage from the GoPro
Hero seven black, but it's footage from
2015 from the GoPro hero for so now we sub-categorize eclipse
based on the cameras. Let's say that during bagging, you also had a drone foods
from DJI Moravec air. Okay. And you also have
some iPhone footage. So iPhone in its day it was something that
varies based on the activity to be during the day, and then further subcategorize
based on the camera that we used to capture those videos and capture those photographs. So let me give you
a small example. Let's say that in
the first day of the trip, we went biking, we sought a DJI Medicare,
so he drone footage. Then we had food and we sought
clips on our iPhone only. Okay. And then in Rome, we again had only GoPro
Hero seven black. But it's now this comes apart in which you really don't have
the short clips even more. You know that it is
biking GoPro footage. Then you drag and drop the
footage from your GoPro. Do this folder right here. And for your drone
to this folder, getting from your
iPhone, you AirDrop. But in order for it to
this folder right here, this is gonna take
you more time. This is going to take
you more time to sort the clips like this. But trust me, this is the most painless way to
find any clip that you want. Let's say that
your brother, e.g. asks you, Hey, do you have that great GoPro footage of
us cruising down in Rome. And under normal circumstances, just would open your phone and started scrolling
and scrolling and scrolling and scrolling
until you found that footage. But now it is just so easy
because you go, Okay, Rome, when do we want to go? Rohm, 2022. What is he what is
he looking for? Videos when it was Rome in Italy in which they
went to Rome day one. Okay. When did you bike?
We biked, we ate. Okay. So let's say biking. You want the GoPro footage and then you just
locate its with it. And this is the
brilliance of the system. I'm so proud of the system. It will help a lot of people. So this happens in videos, the exact same principles
applied in photographs. So let's say that this is the shoes photoshoot in Germany. Let's say that then you further separate the grade is
based on the activity. So this was the model
one that you shot. So again, photos model1, then you further based on
the camera that you sought. So let's say that
we solve this with a Canon 5D Mark four. And then we can further again
sub-divide when it comes to photographs based on the
raw footage that we have. So sorry about that. Raw photos and
edited autographs. And you can imagine what raw
unedited photographs are. Raw photographs are photographs that have not been manipulated, adult straightening
my camera and edit photographs have been
manipulated and they are ready. Make sure to also take diamond sword photographs
as well as videos. Pretty much at the same
time that I want you to apply to these further south
with equalization of videos. I want you to apply
in photographs because there are important. So we're going to use both photographs and
we used to create beautiful edits and vlogs
by the end of this lesson. But this pretty much
is not gonna be only useful for you when it
comes to vacation videos. It's gonna be in general, useful to you in all of
the footage that you had. And I encourage you to
go ahead and actually create those folders
right now and start sorting your videos that
you have acquired for all those years with
your phones, e.g. now let's move to the edits
and vlogs sub folders. This is very straightforward
and very easy. We're not going to have any further
separate resonance here. I mean, you can actually create sub-folders and say that you
haven't edited from Italy. But I would create sub-folders just if I had many edits
from each of my trip. If I have one edit from Italy, I wouldn't create one folder to store just the italy edit. And of course there's going
to be the file that we're going to export from
our editing software. I usually don't do this. I just have edits and I
create five to six to ten, I guess, edits a year and I just drag and drop them
into the edits folder. Very simple. Same actually applies In vlogs. In the vlogs subcategory, I just have the files, the MP4 files of the blogs
that I have created. So this pretty much it. This is the beautiful system
on how to store your videos. Again, to recap, I'm going
to just focus here on the photos and the video
is that raw footage just a week if you
follow the system, it's gonna be very,
very helpful for you. When we started by, the first category is
gonna be the year. In each year, we sort
based on the file types. So we've got video,
we've got photographs, random phone stuff,
added, vlogs. And in the videos
and photographs, we then sub-divide
based on the location. So let's say Italy bagging
enough and Santorini, the next hour, thuggery
is location-based. After that, we have the dates. So they want actually
they do D3 and each day we have activity-based
sub categorization. Finally, in those activities, then we further
subdivided based on the cameras that we use
to shoot those videos. So the geometric area,
GoPro here, seven iPhone. And this is ladies gentlemen, the easiest way to
locate at anytime. Any video that you have
pretty much ever acquired, you literally just have to
think when and where you took this video and
you can find it through this system
that we created. I'm very happy that
you follow along in this lesson right here. I think that there's really going to be very transformative and it's going to help you
create timeless memories. Now, let's move into
the next lesson in which we're going
to discuss about some basic principles, e.g. how to save more battery and more storage from your
camera and how to minimize time that you spend behind a screen
while you're on vacation. This is really the part of the course which
is going to help you tie your hands and really enjoy your time
on your vacation. So see you in the next lesson.
10. Minimising Screen time: Welcome everyone In this lesson in which we're going to dive deeper into how to
minimize our screen time, our phones screen time
while we're on vacation. Now we've talked about
this in the surface level. Now it's time to
dig even deeper and actually analyzing some
strategies and again, some approaches and minimizing your screen down while
you're on vacation. Because again, the goal of
this course right here is to generate timeless memories and timeless movies from our trips, but also enjoying the moment
while we are on them. So let's begin. The key thing, of course, to minimize your screen
time and maximize your experiences
when your vacation is to stop shooting
with your phone. Now, I want you to
think of shooting with your phone like a bad habit. And there are two ways to
actually stop a bad habit. The first one is to make it very hard and very accessible,
inaccessible. And the second one
is to actually move the good habits
in front of it. So make 0s, make good habits
easier and more accessible, and make bad habits
harder and inaccessible. And we're going to
broach shooting with our phone as a bad habit. Shooting with a
dedicated GoPro or another camera as a good habit. Because again, this habit, if you think about it, the
ones who are on vacation, once we see something
cool as a habit, we just take our phones out and start shooting with our phones. But I think that at this
point of the course, after all this time in which I explained to you all of those
principles, I think you're, that you're convinced
this is actually a bad approach into
capturing our lives. So again, I want you to think of shooting with your phone as a bad habit and shooting with
cameras as a good habit. How are we going to make Sue shooting with our phones
heart and inaccessible? Well, the first and most
easy thing to do is to actually just remove your
camera up out of sight. So removal camera app
from your phone screen. I know that the
camera is accessible from the lock screen
of your phone, but subtle movements
like this are just one step towards
the correct direction, direction that you can
have your phone e.g. logged in your backpack. So again, you're not tempted to always
check social media and always take it out and
increase your Watson. Where's your screen time? I want you to make, make it
hard to view your phone. In. Another principle
is you can apply, which it's kinda random, but it has helped me a lot, is to actually add one of those rubber cases
in your phone, which makes it hard to slide your phone in and
out of your pocket. This again will
make it harder to take your phone out of
your pocket because again, we will mess up your bucket. And even this, even making this habit of taking your
phone out a bit harder, subconsciously triggers a
chain reaction, which again, you won't use your
phone as much, especially the capture videos. Now the second charter here
is to make shooting with your camera more easier
and more accessible. And this is what we're
analyzing right now. Now let's say, how
are we going to make today with our camera more
easy and more accessible? What we want to
trigger our brain to immediately when we
see something cool thing, oh ****, I should get my
camera and capture this. So the first thing is
to actually invest in a proper camera and
make a substantial, if you will, investment
to this camera. When we devote money
into buying a camera, it's like we've earned
this money, right? So we've worked for this
money and it's like we delegate some of our work and some part-time to this camera. So we feel like we've
earned this camera. We've invested time that could be invested
somewhere else. So this camera, so we
want to use it even more. This is why cameras are
expensive and this is why I don't actually encourage you to buy the cheapest
camera option out there. I've encouraged you to buy
the most value for money, camera ops and other. Now obviously I haven't. I'm encouraged you to buy
the GoPro Hero seven black, but there are cheaper
GoPro cameras to buy. But again, this is the
most value from on-camera and I think this is
the fine line between a proper investment for a very durable and
value for money camera. So make sure to actually invest in a proper
camera just like a GoPro. The second thing is
that I want this camera to always be charged, okay? And obviously as we're
shooting photographs and videos coming out
will discharge, the battery
percentage will drop. But we will find ways
to cycle around this. More details on that, on the next lesson in
which we're going to discuss about how to preserve battery and preserve storage. But for now, remember that you need to have this camera
always charged because even if you think
that the camera is discharged and you
don't have battery, this will prevent
your establishing this good habit of actually capturing stuff
with your camera. So always have your
camera charged and keep spare
batteries with you. In addition to that, there is
a reason why I suggest that you go through here seven black to do this job when
you're on vacation, it is the fact that it
fits in your pocket. You can literally fit this
camera in your pocket. And this is one of
the biggest assets of Goebbels over DSLR and
mirrorless camera. They're tiny footprint, they're amazing image
and video quality. Their accessibility
and their versatility is what actually, in my opinion, makes them the best for
this job right here, imagine having a DSLR
or mirrorless camera. Every time you see
something exciting, you should just
reach your backpack, take up a camera, open the camera, turned
on video settings. And then shoot with a GoPro. You just take it
out of your pocket, press one button and you
literally are shooting. It's even faster than
shooting with your phone. Shooting with a GoPro is faster than shooting
with your phone. So you should always have it in your pocket fully charged, and you are ready to go. In additional that I would like you to when
you buy this GoPro, I wanted to enable Quicksort. Quicksort is one of the most
genius recording methods that I've seen in a while
in the filmmaking world, it is basically your camera
is switched off, okay? And you just press
the record button. The camera
automatically switches on and starts recording. And this is just amazing
because back in the day, we needed to press the side button to turn on the camera and
then start recording. And this will take 5 s, but this visually diminishes
the time as you need from a completely switched off
camera to a camera that records to one or
2 s. So please, enabled quicksort, always
have a camera in your pocket, fully charged, and invest
in a proper camera. These are the easiest
ways to actually maximize the efficiency
of having this good, again, habit of shooting
with your camera. Now if I could add
something in V, first pointed hat here, that means that investing in a proper camera and actually
spending money to buy, which you are called to use, is to actually invest
in accessories. And this is another reason
why I suggest that the GoPro for the perfect camera
for this job right here. The fact that there are
many accessories you can use and men accessories
that you can bear to this camera to make your footage look
way, way better. Now before we move into the
slide with the accessories, want to tell you that I
have a complete course when it comes to
GoPro for beginners. So if you buy this
camera and you want to dig deeper and go bro, I'm discussing everything and analyzing everything you need. But when it comes to globules
in this course right here, you can check it in my profile. But this is a very
brief introduction to a very cool Accessory
Setup that you can have. If you buy GoPro. No, don't pay
attention to decide images for now I want you to
focus on the middle limits. If you're not interested in diving very deep
into accessories, I just want you to focus in
the middle image right here, which is the GoPro, with the so-called three-way. And this is one of the most key accessories
to buy with GoPro. I think it comes with
a bundle actually with a GoPro Hero eight and above. So if you go with the
Gilbert hero seven block, you won't actually have, you're going to have to
buy it separately. But again, this is a driver Pretty much which
actually doubles up as a selfie stick
and a selfie bolt soul. There's gonna be an
amazing accessories Because usually go pros can't stand by themselves
or they're very low to the ground if you just
rest them on the ground. So this acts like a tripod. You can change the perspective
and you're going to see a great variety of salts with this accessor
right here also, it is relatively cheap. So this is also a
class obviously, because we've invested
in the camera. We don't want to
invest and just as diminished all of our money on accessories. So it's
relatively cheap. It is very valid
for one accessory and I would 100% recommended if you don't want to dive
deep into accessories. Now, if you're enjoying thriller with your GoPro and you enjoy accessories and switching it
up and having more salts, then there are many, many accessories to choose from. Again, in the course in which
I discussed about gerbils, I mentioned all of the
accessories that you can need, an Olympics history that exists. So you're going to have a full comprehensive
novels from there. But to be very simple, there are many accessories
that stick to surfaces. There are many accesses,
does dig into glass. This is the clamp
accessory, which again, we could just clamp it somewhere
and achieve great shots. We got bowls, we
can accessories. Let's take your GoPro to
your head so you gotta POV, view to your chest, many, many accessories,
different filters. So there are many
different options when it comes to accessories. Another thing that you
might want to invest in if you buy a GoPro is just this protective case right here to store your
accessories on your globe rows and
your batteries in your SD cards if you want to go, again, falling into this
accessory and global game, That being said, of course, we discussed about
the accessories, but there are some
essential options that you need to invest in. And those are pretty much the three essentials
is going to need. You're going to be the
camera, obviously. Okay, We discussed
about the GoPro. You're going to need batteries, you're gonna need
spare batteries. So invest in one or two
additional batteries from the one that comes
with your Gabrielle, this will just save your hands and you're not
even going to think if you're just going to grab
your cobra and shoot everything because you
have so much battery, you won't even think
about battery. And also you might want to
invest in a good SD garden, 128 gb or more, or even to SD cards. If you feel like, again, the more you
invest in batteries, and the more you
invest into SD cards, pretty much shooting with
a GoPro becomes unlimited. You can as much as you want. The only thing that limits
you from shooting with a GoPro is the battery
life and the storage. And these two can be
solved by investing in external batteries
and investing in more storage with SD cards. So it is very great
news that you can solve both of those problems
with just a few bucks. So this is just
amazing in my opinion. This is why I suggest you to go broke because with
this law cameras, we would have another
conversation right now. This is going to be the
outcome if you follow again the advice that I gave you in this lesson right here, you can have more
battery in your phone, again with the touch, the aspect of the
camera from the phone, which means that we don't
shoot with a phone. We don't open our
phone that much, so we have more battery
when our phone to actually do tasks that matter
with their phone, e.g. you maps, colleague, cab, communicate with our friends, both perhaps some social media. We're going to have more storage in our field because obviously all of our videos
are going to be stored the SD card
of our Gerber. And then immediately
from the GoPro, we're going to sort them in. Our file sorting system would be made in the
previous lesson. So we literally full
started on your phone. And keep in mind that if
you have it clip, okay, lets you want to
keep on your phone and you've sought with a GoPro, you can very easily transmitted from your
PC to your phone. After you've sorted
it out in the system, it is very important for all of the footage that
you're sued to be immediately sorted in
the system that we discussed in the
previous lesson. In the name of the game
is you're going to have more free time for you. And this is very
important. Free time to experience new things
in your vacations, free time to see
your beloved ones, and did not again, time invested in just
stupid looking to your phone to just creating mediocre videos that
aren't going to be saved. Okay, We've talked about this
many times in this course. Of course found sort
things and be very, very easy when we talk about
the system will create. And again, if you systemized
capturing stuff with your GoPro and then immediately transferring the files from
the GoPro to your system. This is gonna be
flawless and it's gonna be very easy once
you make it a habit. This wine introduction
of this lesson, I talked about habits and
how to break a bad habit, actually started a good habit. And of course finally,
you're gonna enjoy your vacation time even more. And this is really what I want you to take
from this lesson. All of this information
that I'm giving you is the fact from the fact that I have been through this problem
and I know how it feels. Go on vacation. You want to capture everything. You capture everything
on your phone, but then all the footage
is on your phone. You don't have it
sorted somewhere. And once I've established
this system of capturing stuff with my camera and storing them in my computer. This just made
everything way easy for me and I'm pretty
sure that it's gonna be the same thing for you. So this will have to
say when it comes to minimizing your screen time. Now let's move into
the next lesson. We're going to talk
about decreasing storage capacity and
increasing battery life. So this is what we are
talking in the next lesson.
11. Saving Battery and Storage: Hello everybody and
welcome to this lesson. In this lesson right
here we're discussing it is gonna be a
very brief lesson, by the way, when
discussing about how to save battery and save storage. And I know that I've mentioned some basic principles on how to save the battery and
how to save storage. And again, detaching the
gamma aspect from your phone to a dedicated camera again
while you're on vacation. So in this lesson we're
just going to dive deeper. And again, those information because I want you to
really understand it and I want you to create
this good habit of detaching the camera
or from your phone. So how to save battery and
storage on your phone? This is our first goal. We need to have the maximum amount of battery on our phone and the biggest amount of
storage available on our phone. Because again, we want
to use our phone for the tasks that it is made for. So to communicate, to use maps, we've got a lot of
work to do from our phone, went on vacation, so we don't want to overload
it with also having all the camera down by the phone and storing all of
our footage from the phone. So saving battery
discharge on the phone. The first key is to just
stop using the camera again. This is why we bought the GoPro, this wave invest on GoPro, and this is why we learned some basic videography
principles in this course to again, stop using the camera
off the phone. Next, we need to stop
using it for storage. And this is going
to take some time. Obviously. I want you
to use your phone as a, let's say display bees. Okay? I want you to consume content from your phone if
you want to, okay. But I don't want
you to store all of your content to your
phone, so obviously okay. It is okay for you to
have some photographs in the photo gallery or some videos in before gallery of your phone, but please don't store all of
your footage on your phone. I think that after the
lesson in which we about file sorting and how to sort
files and how to create folders and sub-folders
based on location, based on the time, based on the camera, if
you're shooting, the file sorting
process on the phone seems very, very primitive. So I think that there is
nothing more to discuss here. Okay, please minimize the usage of the users of
your phone again, because we want to maximize the experiences
on our vacations. We don't want to be
behind the screens of our phones are going to be our number one enemy
when we're vacation. So these are the
three steps to again, maximize the battery and the storage capacity
of our phones. Now let's move to our camera. We also want, of course, to maximize the battery life and the storage of our camera. We discussed about this
previously in this course. The first step is not to shoot at the highest
possible resolution. I know it sounds
very intriguing. Start shooting at
very high resolution. So K for K 6k5k. The thing is that
high resolution, It's really the enemy of what we're trying
to achieve here. Higher resolutions than to
drain the battery way faster. And then to again
create huge files which capture a big
amount of storage. This is why in the resolution
lesson of the scores, this is just a small recap. We concluded the
best resolution, if they will be
fine line between a great image with
great clarity, grade sharpness, and again, not drainage of percentages of battery and
this is 2.7 gates. So again, shoot most of
the videos at 2.7 k. And now it's time to
discuss about frame rate. We have actually discussed about frame rates in discourse. Holiday to get
less than again on resolution and frame
rate. Too small. Recap again, frame
rates decide how much you can slow down the
video in post-production, the eye views the world
at 24 frames per second. So choosing the suit
and the frame rate, such as 60 frames per second, enabled us to slow
down Eclipse twice. So if we should add 2.7 k at 60 frames per second
means that we can have a good image glory clarity with the option again to slow
down the clips twice. So this is exactly the
killer combination, 2.7, 60 that I want you to
shoot with your camera. In addition to that,
we don't want to have our camera always foods don't. Obviously, that's going to
drain the battery very fast. So we're going to
enable quick capture, which again is this
button which we press and about in the camera
automatically activates, it turns on and
starts recording. So these, I want you to remember 2.7 k 60, enabling
quick capture. And the final, of
course point to, Let's say infinitely increase. Okay, battery and
storage is to just keep as many batteries
as you can and as many SD cards as you can with
you go pros can virtually record forever as long as you again replace batteries
and SD cards. So these are the four points that I want you to keep
in mind when it comes to increasing the battery life and the storage capacity
of your GoPro. So we've talked about increasing the battery life and
storage of our phone. We talked about increasing the battery life and
storage of our camera. Now, let's move to actually storing files into
external storage. Because again, we said that we need to
transfer files from our phone to some
sort of computer or Mac or some
computing device again, in which we can create those
folders and sub folders, those folders and subfolders, I don't want you to store in the internal storage of your laptop or your
PC or your Mac. I want you to store those
files on a external storage. There are many reasons why
you would like do this, and we refer to
this as filmmakers. The first reason is
that if you lose the device in which you've
created those folders, all your footage are gone. And trust me, as the years passed and you start
collecting foods, e.g. me, I have put it all
the way from 2015. Up to 2022. Now, if
I lose this footage, It's pretty much like I'm
losing all of my memories, all of my experiences. And again, again, experienced those nostalgic feelings when
I watch those movies again. So this is gonna be an
absolute nightmare. This is why I always
suggest people to invest on a external storage. There are two types
of external storage. The first one is again, a hard, ragged external storage, just
like this lady right here, and external hard drive. The second type is
just Cloud Storage. Now both of those
work perfectly. I think that the blind
external storage, e.g. a. Cd drive, is faster than storing your
footage at the Cloud. And also, the thing is that you can also lose
a hard drive, right? So a hard drive
can be destroyed, the handrail can be lost. A hard drive can be submerged in the water and
again be destroyed. But Cloud Storage won't be
destroyed, it won't be lost. It will always be in the Cloud. So it all comes down to
personal preference of anybody. I store my footage on
hard drives, but again, I know people that store
their footage on the Cloud. Cloud storage is going to
be a bit more expensive. But again, it all comes down. You can use both if you want,
if you want to be secure, you can use both a hard
drive and Cloud Storage. Now moving on to external
battery options, obviously we can have, we can buy as many GoPro
batteries as we can. This will prolong the battery
life of a GoPro to the Mac. So again, you can have
infinite GoPro batteries, which will give you
infinite minutes of sitting with your GoPro. That being said, there
are some battery options. This can power both your
phone and your GoPro, e.g. these are biobanks. Biobanks can send power both to your phone
and your GoPro. So this is gonna be a very
good investment when you're on vacation because
with Power BI and again, you can better. You can send battery both to your phone and your
GoPro and guests. The GoPro has a portal
that opens and you can directly charge
it with a power bank. This is another of the reasons why I suggest you to buy a gobo. Another thing you can buy,
which is very, very cool, is a solar powered battery bank, a solar-powered Burbank,
which means that you can just have it hanging
out of your backpack. And again, this will
charge with the sun. So this is very cool
because as you're on the move, this
power bank charges, and again, it can send you
to your goal and your phone. So this was pretty
much this short lesson when it comes to
battery and storage. I just want to mention some things when it
comes to hardware. Again, cloud storage,
battery options. And again, just to
remind you of 2.7 K6 and some basic principles that we
discussed when it comes to detach detaching the
camera from your phone. I think that we're done with all the theoretical
part of this course. I think that you are now
comfortable and have actually mastered many of the
concepts that we disgust. Now it is time in the next
lesson to actually launch our editing software and start creating those movies
from our vacation. So in the next lesson,
I'm going to show you some basic editing
principles to again, be able to create movies
from your vacation. So see you then.
12. Post Production - Editing: So welcome everybody to the highly anticipated final lesson of this course
in which I'm going to teach you how to edit down all of the beautiful videos of the captured during our vacations. Again, with our GAAP rules, with all of the principles of different principles
that we discussed. How to save battery,
how to save storage. All of those principles, gum to live with this final
lesson right here, which is gonna be a
big lesson on how to basically edit all of the
videos into a beautiful movie. Because again, we're
gonna have our files stored in our hard drives
or in our Cloud drives. But don't want to revisit
our vacations this way. We don't want to
view it labored. We've got, or it's
photographs like this one to create
beautiful movies which role by themselves
and just look great and create beautiful
memories this way. So this is what we're going to do in this lesson right here. Now, small disclosure
before we start. First of all, I have a complete
course in which I teach you how to edit on Final Cut
Pro for complete beginners, it is very easy and it has
great reviews from people that have actually benefited
a lot from this course. That being said, for
this course right here, you don't need the
same editing program as me to again achieve
the same result. I'm going to discuss some
very basic editing principles in this course, in this lesson. So feel free to again
join my steps and follow along with any editing
program that you want. This could even be an
editing program if returning program from your mobile device. That being said, I'm
going to be editing with Final Cut Pro. This is a professional
program that I use again for my
filmmaking business. But again, don't be stressed because we're going
to discuss some very, very basic editing principles. If you're using a Windows PC, note that the best
editing software do you use is Premiere Pro. If you're using a MacBook
mixture to use Final Cut Pro, which is the best editing
software for Mac. And again for mobile devices, you have an iPhone, you
can use iMovie, e.g. is it very cool, free option as an editing software
to use for iPads, I think I'll also, iMovie works perfectly now 400 points
for Android phones. I'm not sure what's the
best editing software, but again, I think you
can figure it out. There are many free editing
softwares out there. And again, the principles
are going to discuss are not that advanced. And again, you can follow
with any editing software. So enough talking. Let's actually launch
our program and let's dive into how to add it again, those beautiful
memories of yours into a movie to keep, to remember. Okay, So this right here is the interface of our
editing program. And again, it might
sound complicated, but everything is
going to make sense by the end of this video. First of all, right,
here we've got our timeline in which again we can see the
different clips, all of these different
clips that I've decided to use for this
editor right here. In your case, you
could just drag and drop all of the clips
from your vacation. You literally drag and drop all of the clubs
that you've done. This could be 100, 200
glyphs. Doesn't matter. You drag and drop them into
your timeline and they will show in order. Right here. Above, you can see
this display box in which you can just display, displays what plays pretty much. And now I'm going to
analyze the strategy was we're going to follow
to edit down our, again, vacation clips
into a beautiful movie. Now, step one, when editing a movie from
your vacation is just go through every single one of the clips and trimmed down the
parts which we don't like. So pretty much we go
in every single one of the clip and we trimmed down the beginning and the
end which we want to keep. So let's just zoom
in a timeline, e.g. this first clip is
this drone shot of this dude right here
falling into the water. And when of course,
show the beginning. And right here when
he falls into water, I think we can dream it. So I entered the blade
tool and I deleted. This can be done in
any editing software. Then we've got the
sequence off this jeep, so we can just delete this.
I think this is cool. This clip is not needed again, because we're going to import all of our clips modifications, many clips we're going to delete and not even using
the final edit. This, I think it looks cool. Let's see the whole
clip gamba thing that we're going to
use the beginning. So right here thing
we can do that out. Okay, see this clip was out of focus at the
beginning here. And now the camera finds focus. I'm going to start
the clip from here, and I'm going to end it. Let's say here. Now, same thing
applies this clip. I think we cannot use it. And that the slip with a face than okay, this is a big deal. As you can see. You
can see the fish here. I think we'll just
keep the beginning of the video right here. So again, let's trim down the whole rest of the
clip. It is done. Now we've got the beautiful
waves during sunset, and I think this is the
cooler part of the video, so we trim the beginning. Finally, we got this video
of me writing the jeep. So I think they're
beginning again is the perfect place for this
clip to be displayed. This, I think again,
the beginning we keep, this is pretty much a
boring process, but again, editing is not
that exciting. So. I think here we can
keep it pretty much. You just decide which parts of the clips you want to keep and which parts you
don't want to keep. So this is very
straight forward. I think this can be used. And again here, okay, I think this is perfect. So now pretty much we've
done our basic aid. God, this is a very basic gut. Okay, we just went from one
clip to the next flip to the next flip to the
next loop and just trim down the parts that
we are interested in. Now the next part that I
want you to focus on is that it does sound pretty much. Now in most vacation clips and in most movies
from occasions, we are going to use music, music of our preference, music that matches the tone
that we want to deliver. Because music, again helps delivery feeling to the viewers. And again, beautiful music with your memories is just a
very wholesome thing. Now, what I want you to do
is in clips that someone isn't talking and there isn't
a great sound to be heard. E.g. this clip right here
is again, just wind, the nose of wind so we can go ahead and display the audio, disable the audio completely. Same applies to this
clip right here. Same applies to this
clip right here. We don't see someone talking, so we shouldn't just keep
the audio if it's windy, this won't help the song. Again, this same applies here. This could be it, but again, I think it's gonna
be very windy. So let's disabled, disabled,
disabled here also, disabled, disabled,
disabled now, in your vacation
Clips, obviously you can have some talking going on. And again, if someone talks, just keep the order there, don't disable it because again, will obviously we want someone to be
narrating and you want the cool experiences of you
talking to be displayed. But in this case right here
of my edit, there or not, there is not much
talking going on, so we can just disable the order completely
on the complete edit. Now, we're done with
the egg at again, the selection, of course, after we imported audio
clips into a timeline. Now we have selected the parts of each clip that
we want to keep when it comes to the audio and the visual parts
again of the video, it's time to move and manipulate them as
much as possible. So the first thing
that you can do is that you can change there, again, placed on
the timeline so you can have this clip playing
first, this clip playing last. And again, we can just
match a different vibe. Usually when it comes
to vacation edits, you don't have to change. Again. The diamond in
the timeline goes again. They will be automatically sorted by timeframe
when important. So again, you don't have
to change that in my case, which is those clips are
pretty irrelevant together. I'm just keeping
those clips with the kids playing the C together. And let's say that
this globe right here, which is me driving, let's put it after the
split within which we just prepare the Jeep. And let's grab this clip of
the kids diving and put it last guy after the kids
playing at the seat. So I think this is
very cool because this again delivers a story. Again, the story for
me preparing the Jeep, driving to this destination in which we faced then sunset. And the next day you
can see the kids playing at the sea and of
course, diving from the rocks. I can just create some
sort of story again, but pretty much you
don't have to use this. You don't have duplicate
this because again, your application
is going to be on a fixed storyline. So it's cool. Now, after we've done this, it's time to apply two or
three different things that will make your
videos way, way better. And I discussed this in the course that I've
created when it comes to finally got video
editing for beginners. The first thing I'm going
to apply is slow motion. And what I wanna do
is when I don't have a video of someone talking
and have B-roll video. This is called B-roll video. This abstract video of
just different things in different actions without someone talking to the camera, like an interview style
or just vlogging. I always like to apply the
effect of slow motion and this way encourage
you to shoot at 2.7 60 frames per second, because 2.7 k again gives
us a great resolution. And 60 frames per
second enables us To slow videos down by 50 per cent. Now I know that
all of those clips are salt with my DSLR camera. And I've of course, set the frame rate at
$0.60 per seconds. So these can be slowed
down at 50 per cent. The only thing that I'm afraid of is this clip right here, which is sold with my drone. And I don't remember
if I had again set it at 60 frames per second
or 24 brands and second, the thing is that we
can select all of those clips and
change their speed, slow them down by 50%. And as you can see, the timeline obviously increased
the timeline. The length of the timeline increased by double
because again, we slowed all the
clips down by 50%. So let me show you this. This was this clip
playing at normal speed. Again after we selected all of those clips and we
slow them down. This is how it looks
when slowed down. And you can see it's very
smooth because again, we've sorted that sex
difference or seconds, so it can be easily slowed down. Now, after you slow
the clips down, you can see that the clip
prolongs, it becomes bigger. So now we're going to
also have to select the part which we like and keep the part that is more engaging. So again, we just have to trim the clips to our
point of reference. So this e.g. is a point of
reference, starts here. And obviously, as
you're dreaming eclipse down and make sure to actually play and press Space and play the movie from
the beginning. So I think this e.g. is enough. Again, just trim it down here. And this is also enough. We can trim it down. Moving on, we have
this globe right here. I think that, um, we're
gonna keep this part. So again, we just dreaming down, we're adapting to
the new standards after we slowed everything down. Again, this, we need to give the movie as
engaging as possible. So let's just start from here. We got this. Great. Let's move
on to this clip. The freezer we got. It's a bit out of focus,
but again, it's fine. It's, those are
amateur movies here. So again, let's
assume each year. So again, let's trim this
clip down right here. Then the next clip, see everything is slowed
down, just looks way better. We can trim it down right
here after the wave hits. Then we've got the kids. And you can see the
magic of slow motion. It makes everything looks
so much more cinematic, so much cooler, so much better. And this is really a way to
make your videos look so, so, so, so much better. There you have it. And then we've got
this clip, oh, which is actually sold at
60 frames per seconds so we can actually slow it down,
slow motion applied. And I think this is a perfect
way to end the movie. Now we got the perfect a gut. The gut is again, if after we've trimmed and
set the slow motion, again, do speed that we
want in all of our clips. Now it's time to actually apply two or three more things that will make the
videos look cooler. The first thing we're
going to apply is the song of your preference. Now, obviously, you can just
add any song that you want. Let's just add a random song. So I'm not going to
get very in-depth and where to find music and
how to find use it. I just imported the
random sound effect from my editing software, Final Cut Pro so I can close
this music tab and we've got this Havana theme
music going on. One thing that I
wanted to focus on is that you are called to edit. The optimal scenario would
be for you to actually edit the video to your music. This means that wherever there's a change on the audit track
that you're using makes you to actually apply a gap
on the video in that chain. This will make the
video look way better. Again, if you are more curious on editing and
transmitting is one of the most important
and useful skills to know in the 21st
century on our times. If you're curious and editing, I just encourage you to go ahead and check
the other course that I have when it comes
to Final Cut Pro editing. This is a key course than
in about an hour or 2 h. I teach you everything that
I know about fungal probe, which is perfect. Now, for now, for the
sake of this video, I think that if you apply
the principles that we discussed in this
lesson right here, which means that
we import all of our clips from our storage
to our editing program. Then we trim our clips down
to the preferable size. And again, we keep the
cool parts inside. Then we slowed down the clips in which we're not
talking to the camera. Again, to keep the
story flowing, we change the duration and
the timing of the clips again to keep the
story flowing and not yet our viewers board. Then we add music. Finally, we're going to add v final piece of this
very basic editing, random here, which is a title. Titles are very cool and just import drag-and-drop with all editing programs
have titles. Titles are pretty much a great way to just
introduce the viewers. Thank you, very, very
cool theme to the veal. So again, let's write to this title summer 2020
to do right here. And we can change many parameters in this
editing software mind. So right here we can see Summer 2020 to put it in the
middle of the frame here. This is it. So pretty much, this is a very basic edit. Okay, How to very basically edit videos from
your hard drive, from your Cloud Drive
in the beautiful movie. I'm very excited about this because I know that
there are many, many things to learn when
it comes to editing. So I think that if you again, dive deeper in reading, this will be very helpful for you. And we just can't have all the time of the world in this course to teach
about adding this way, have the other course
when it comes to editing. I hope you enjoyed this course. I hope that you've learned
some things in this course, and I'm going to see you
in the thank you message.
13. Thank you note: Solids, gentlemen, thank
you very much for again, making it up until the
end of the scores. I'm very honored from
the fact that you're still here and you enjoy it. I guess what I was
saying in the scores, even though this course
make sure to leave a review and please come
to the class project because I will be personally reviewing every single one
of your class projects. So again, I'm honored by your presence at the
end of the scores. And if you enjoyed
my teaching style, you can go ahead and check
my other courses that I have listed in this account. Thank you very much
and we're going to see you in the next one.
