1. Intro: Hi, I'm Andrea, I'm a designer from Brazil. In this class, you'll learn how to make a tracing illustration like this. So back when I was in college, reused to make tracing illustration using a light table. This is a lighting. But now we have Photoshop and linked to teach you how to make a tracing illustration without the huge table and without breaking the law. So see you in the next class. 2. Class project: Hi there. For this class project, we are going to make a poster like this. So the first thing you need is to choose a quote or a phrase you really like. And then we are going to combine the phrase we, the illustration. After picking our quote is time to find a photo that suits the message of your poster. If you want to sell your artwork, It's encouraging to use a photograph that you own or a photo that it's free for commercial use. So if you have any doubts on where to find these photos, please check the links on their class projects. Now that you know your assignment, Let's get started. 3. Setting up a new file: I have already picked the phrase and the photo that I'm going to use. Let's start by opening Photoshop. We're going to create a new document that here we're going to make a poster, a small poster. So you can go here to print. And I'm going to make a, A5 posters. So this is the size. Here is an illusion. She went to print your poster and you need to change the color mode to CMYK. If you just want to make a something digital, you keeping an RGB color. But if you want to bring to, you need to change it. You see MIT, it's okay, I'm going to click Create. So lever it used Photoshop before you can change the workspace so it looks like mine. Now this is my workspace. If your workspace is different than mine and you want to change it, you can go to Window Workspace and choose the essentials option. Now, now that we have our documents setup, you're going to bring the photo and a quote and putting this document and go to here, use the Control C or Command C, and then you can paste it. Now it's the time to shoot. Is k with the photo. If you want to make your photos too small and you make it bigger. So use the select the photo layer, use the command Control D or Command D and just push it to me. Can be eager. Before starting your illustration, you need to test the brushes so you can figure out what type of brush you want to use. Do you want a clean line? Like really uniform? Then you can use the basic Photoshop brush. If you want something that has texture, it looks like it was drawn by Penzu, then you'll need a brush with more texture. So it just make sure to test your brush before starting your illustration because you cannot change it once you're started. So you can create a new layer here. New layer, just pick some brushes to test it. See several of my illustrations. You'll have a handmade feel. I'm going to choose discipline. In the next lesson, we are going to start our illustration. So see you in the next lesson. 4. Tracing: Now that you have your brush thing of 50 ceta, You are going to start Trace. It's easier to trace the photo if you change a D capacity of the, of the layer. So click on your photo layer and go to this opacity tag. Now we're going to draw on the layer 1 and then they are deserts on top of your photo. Yeah. It's really important to choose the right thickness of your brush. Most of the time, I used the number eight brush for our dy outside of demonstration. And for the details, the, I can use the number four or number three. And if something really small, then they use a different smaller brush. When you're drawing these details, make sure to test that thickness. Beer bash. Say you can chose the correct one. Okay. In the next class, we are going to start coloring our illustration. So see you then. 5. Coloring part 1: I'm going to show you two different ways to what's color on your illustration. To change the color of your drawing, you can, you need to select the newer drawing layer, my nice layer one. You're going to press Control in U and this hue saturation windows going to open. So click on the colorized optional day heel is where you put the color. The saturation is the intensity up and 100. And the lightness is the light goes through. If you're changing, the lightest was going to make a ringing light room. So just move around until you find the warm you think is better for your illustration. Is going to be this one. K2, change the background color. You just nucleosome to paint bucket tool right here. And now you can choose the foreground color. So I chose this light green, and then you click Okay, and then you paint it. Now to change your, your text, select the text layer selected and the same thing. Use the control you are menu. In this hue saturation window we will often. So then you can just change it and find out what color it's going to be better for your illustration. Just remember to click colorize, underlies the twang, change the color. In the next lesson, I'm going to teach you a different way to add color to your illustration like this. See you in the next lesson. 6. Coloring part 2: Now I'm going to show you a different way to add color to your drawing. So first thing, we need to know the colors we're going to paint. I went to to use the same color, eyes, stone, the woman and the woman in the photograph. So to do that, click on the icon of the doom of your fault of the photograph. And using the eyedropper tool, you'll be able to because sample of the color from the photograph. So the eye dropper tool is this one. So click on the eyedropper tool and select blue color. You think you, it's going to do better or no restrictions. So I chose a color. You can see the chip, the color you you pick from the photo. It's going to appear as a foreground color right here. Now that we have, is this skin color, we are going to fainted. So first I'm going to hide the photograph layer, which we're not going to use it. And the more suited to paint this scheme, you're going to create a new layer. So don't belong here, create a new layer. And I'm going to what? This new layer behind the layer 1. Layer 1 is day one that has the drawing, can see here. Layer 2, I'm going to name its kin. Now how I'm going to paint only this part here? Well, you can use, there are lot of different ways to do this. We're going to show you how to do it with the magic wand. So click on the layer 1 again, the layer ANC is your drawing. And use the magic one dimensional ones, this one. And once you paint only day this scheme. So I'm going to bleach own insight. So you can see these dotted line. I'll overdo the drawing. So everything that has this greenish color, it's selected, you can see here. But I only want to faint the, the site here. This team, you go to this layer here. You can see into your skin colors already selected silver here. And I'm going to choose the brush tool. So k you feed, rolls over the line. We can erase it later. To undo this selection, you are going to use the Control D. So you can see now, you can no longer see those dotted lines. And we're going to correct and we're going to erase everything that's outside of the line. So to erase, fortunately, eraser tool, You can look like the same process to paint the hair or nails to address whatever you want. Just remember that for each foreign, we need to create a new layer. Because if you faint all of the drawing on the same layer, she wants to edit something to range spurge, change color is going to be really difficult because everything's going to be in a single layer. Hi. 7. Conclusion: Because so much for taking this class, I hope you'll learn how to make this tracing illustration. Most of the time people use Illustrator, but I think in this class you'll learn how it is possible to make in using Photoshop. Always remember to case you're going to sell this illustration as something liking a crater or posters sticker. So make sure you, you own the photo that you're you're tracing. And I can wait to see what you guys can make. So remember to post your class project and see you in the next class. Bye.
