1. Welcome!: Hey there and welcome to another acrylic
painting online class. My name is Deb and I'm an
artist based out in India. In today's class, I'm going
to be teaching you how to paint beautiful sunlight
coming through the window. This has been one of the highest requested painting of all time. Everybody wants to know
how to paint centralized. So if you are one of them, this is where you get to
learn how to paint sunlight. So for today's painting, I'm gonna be using Pig body
paints because we're going to create amazing
textures of leaves and flowers using the
thick body pains. It's a kind of an
advanced painting, but I'm going to break it
down into multiple steps. I have actually divided
this painting into seven different steps to
make it easy for you guys. And you can just follow
me step-by-step along the way to be able to create this beautiful
painting at the end of it. And if you're a beginner, I don't want you to get
nervous thinking that this is an advanced painting and
you won't be able to do it. I know it looks
complicated, but trust me, if you follow all the steps that I'm gonna tell
him inside this class, you will be able to create
a just fine and you will be surprised at your own talent
and your own creativity. And you'll be
surprised with what you create at the
end of this class. In the next video, I will
tell you in detail all the art supplies that you need to create this
beautiful painting. So without further ado, let's get inside the class.
2. Art Supplies: Hey, welcome inside the class. So in this video, I will tell you about all the art supplies that you need to start today's painting. Alright, so for today's class, I'm using a canvas board. Normally I use beepers or sketchbook, but today I just felt like using Canvas for a change. Alright, so let me start by taking off the wrapper of the guarantees port. Well that's done. So get your canvas board or paper, whatever you want to use. And then I'm going to use this sponge. Sponge is going to be really useful in today's painting. And then I'm going to use this toothbrushes. One is a flat brush and one is wrong small brush. Now these small round brush, I'm using size nine for this size canvas. Now, if you look at this painting, that originally one that's much smaller. So for that, you might wanna use a size five. So depending on the proportion of the surface that European thing on, you can use the Brush size. Okay, a glass of water, some tissue paper. And now let's get to the acrylic paints that I'm gonna be using. So these are all the actually means that I am going to use Chrome jello. And it's actually cadmium yellow than black sap green, dark green drink lemon yellow and titanium white. I'm also going to be used, born Sienna, that I forgot to mention to you guys here in this video. And apart from that, I am going to use some fluid acrylics also to cover the base of the canvas. So for that I am going to use a dark green, white, and black. These are the three fellows that I'm gonna be using to cover up the canvas, color block, the whole lambdas. And I'll get to all the peak body pains to create the actual painting. Alright, so I hope you got all your supplies ready. Now let's get started.
3. Step 1: Color Block and Texture: Alright, so let's get started with our first step. The first step, we are going to color block the whole canvas. And for that, I'm going to be using the liquid acrylic, which is basically the fluid acrylic. But you can use it if you have only tick body bands, you can use that as well. You can just mix up little bit of water with it, antennae down and you can use it on the canvas. Ok, so I have taken out black and green and now the wide, instead of keeping it on the plate, what I'm going to do is I'm going to pour it directly on the canvas. That way you don't waste any extra paint and you don't have pick it up every time from the balance. Okay, now with the sponge, what I'm gonna do is spread out the white on the canvas. The direction does not matter. Arches, just focus on getting the paint spread out all over. Make sure you don't have too much excess of fluid acrylics if you're using fluid acrylics or if you are telling it down, you can just mix the white paint on the plate and then pick it up with your sponge just to cover up. Now you see that I haven't gone all the way to the bottom of the canvas. I have painted stopping a little bit above the bottom. And now I am on that same white side. I am picking up little bit of cream and I'm applying it from the bottom. Now, picked up just a tiny bit of black. Look at how less amount of blood that is, just mixing it up with green. And we are getting this paint of leg foggy, misty title of field with discolored. So that's why we don't want to use just a green. We want to mix it up with little bit of black. And now if you notice, I am kind of doing depth on my canvas. Just a tiny bit of dabs to blend it really well. When I picked up a bit more black to give that Misty look in the background. So you would realize when you do this gala blocking step with sponge, you can very easily, very quickly, you can cover the whole canvas rather than being Jeanette with a brush which will take a longer time. So since I'm working on a really because I scanned this today, I decided to do it with the spongy and also show you guys this technique that you can use in your other paintings. Because with the sponge, it just picks up few second to cover the whole tablets, not the bottom part of the canvas. I am adding a little bit more darker color. So I picked up a little bit more green and black. Norm during the dabbing technique. Just the way I mixed green into white on the job exactly the same way. And just dabbing it so that it kind of blends in little bit. Honestly, it's not going to matter much because in the later step, I am going to add brushstrokes on top of it. So we are done with the sponge now, grab your flat brush and taking out just a bit of weight on the plate because I'm going to do some more texturing on top of this layer, the first layer that we created with the spot. Okay, so open up the bristles of the flat brush just by pressing need on late, mix-up, white and green and black. So we want that mistake. Hello. We'll start with the lighter tone and we'll get to the darker ones. So all you're doing is going on the canvas and you're just putting the bristle, the tip of the bristles of the brush on the canvas almost willing it 90 degrees. So my hand might come in the way of you viewing. But I'm sure you are able to understand from the site as much as you can see. All I'm doing is dabbing my brush onto the canvas. And the pressure I am using while doing this dabbing thing is really, really low. I am not putting a lot of pressure. I am putting very light pressure because if you put a lot of pressures will become like a blob and it will not come as a texture. So look at the texture that is forming on the canvas. They're starting to look pretty much like leaves. And starting to look really nice also on top of the background color that we have done. Sorry about that. My hand is coming in the way of seeing it. It's just because it's a very good practice to holder brush absolutely 90-degree on top of your canvas that we get really nice textures. So you can see how I am putting the pressure on the canvas. And I'm sticking to absolutely lighted taunts as of now because the background is pretty light so we don't want to go too dark. So you can see that all the strokes that we did with the sponge in the previous layer, it doesn't really matter because it's all getting covered up with the fixtures that we are doing now. Now, as I'm coming down, I am starting to get a little bit more. So I'm starting to take more of green and black now. Now the reason I did not pick up much white because my brush already had a lot of white from the previous step. So now all we are doing is doing the exact same technique. The technique does not change, just the shade of the color changes. So this time we are using mod of green and black. And we are continuing in the same way. So it can be a bit tedious. But if you are working on a smallest size canvas, you should be finishing it off by now. You don't have to do quite, quite as much as I am doing. My canvas size is nine by 11 inches. Remember as as we're going down, we are going darker. So even the shared that you're seeing now, I'm going to get even more data almost to the point of using just black absolutely. At the bottom of the canvas. Just be gently the moment you are approaching the ages. And because that is where your textures are going to be even more visible. Rape. So just be very, very gentle and give really less pressure of your brush on the canvas that we, the textures look really nice and leafy. Right? So on the top, you'll see all the sole nicely. You can see different layers of trees in the background as they would such a dense forest. I'm really liking the look that is forming and it's all formed by just changing the sheets of our color. So I hope you have been able to do this step. It's, it's really little Lindy process of doing the exact same technique all over. So with that, we come to the end of step one.
4. Step 2: Create Window Outline: Hey, welcome to step two. In this step we're going to print the window all around. So it's just a basic structure of the window that we are going to paint. So grab your small round brush that you have. And I am using the fluid black, a fluid acrylics for doing this because it's going to be, it's going to move around really smoothly. But if you have a tick body band, that's also fine. You just mix it up a little bit of water and you will be good to go. Now we'll divide the canvas in three parts. So I am doing the line almost on the top layer of the 1 third of the canvas. That's where I'm drawing my horizontal line. Now, don't feel intimidated. If you are feeling a little bit nervous, you can use a scale or something to place it. And the way it also makes sure to remember that you don't really have to create the absolute perfect straight line. As you can see, land is not absolutely perfect, but it is not about doing it perfectly, but just doing the line properly. So feel free to use anything else if you have, if you are not very confident of doing it freehand, that's totally fine. For this tape. You don't have to watch it and then paint. You can paint along with me so that you finish it by the time I also finished. So all you can do is just keep watching this and keep painting because there is really nothing much. You are just creating one horizontal line and one vertical line. Okay? Okay, now we are done with the two black lines of the window. But before we move forward, I just realized that I should have done a little bit of yellow texturing also in the background degrees that we did. So any ms. O, we can still do it. So just take out a little bit of chrome yellow. And we will do this exact same thing that we did in the previous step with our flat brush. That's exactly what we alway introduce or mix up a little bit of green and yellow and a bit of white. So you're mixing up all the trees, shades. And then you go onto the canvas and add just a little bit of this yellow on the darker area. Now make sure that you are not doing too much for you just to doing absolutely less because you don't want to cover up all the nice black shades that we have done on the background rate. So just add a little bit of yellowish texts. So just a little bit towards the bottom area, that's it. Okay. Yeah. That's pretty much it. We are not going to do. Just a little bit of the yellows are showing to all the dark greens at the bottom. And radar, that's it. Now we go back to a small brush and we continue painting the window. So over here I'll just apply a little bit of black on top of all the greens that I didn't Santo. And now I will paint or the black around the canvas. Give the leadership that you can see in the original one. Just be a bit careful over your way you're doing it. Just mark the outline really carefully and then fill it up with flat. We are not doing any other color right now, we're just using Black. Also. One small tip that might be helpful for you guys is use a bit of water. So even though I'm using three diacrylate, I'm still using bottled water to opinion down. So if you're using heavy body, make sure you are pinning it down quite a bit using a lot of water and then you are applying the thing. Do. Now what do you like to know? This board? Also, you will see three millimeter, four millimeter thickness of the canvas that you can see I generally electric oriented as well. That gives a really nice clean to the painting and makes it look really nice. But if you're bidding on a paper or something, you can ignore this tape. And if you've been doing on ostrich scandalous thing, you might want to fill it up as well. It looks really good when you in the borders. And with that, we have come to the end of step two.
5. Step 3: Add Leaves: Welcome to step three. This is very beautiful tape where we're going to end with the TIG body pains and create really amazing textured leaves on our PMT. So let's get started. So I have taken out sap green and dark green and some chrome yellow. And I'm using my same size nine round brush for creating this leaves. Ok, so now look at the technique of how I am creating the leaves. If you watch a couple of leaves, you will get an understanding of how I'm doing it and then you should be able to do it on your own. So I'm just mixing up all the colors, the sap green, yellow, and white because I'm starting on the top area. So since the background of the top is light, tried to keep their leaves on the lighter side. And as we come down we will use some dark greens and dark shades of the greens. Okay, so just one stroke, just one small stroke. Don't try to create the leaves in its proper shape. So just cleared one stroke with quite a bit of paint on your brush, have quite a good amount of thick body paint and that will create the texture for you automatically so you don't have to paint the texture. The paint will help you to create the texture. Now, well-being team feel free to go on top of the black area of the window that we have painted. Because whichever area you go onto up, we will comment, painted once again on top of the green leaves. So just believes I'm taking one or two strokes. In most of the leaves, I am taking just one stroke, so just one stroke will create a beautiful leaf. Okay? So keep trying this and don't do too much since the top is pretty light, we don't want to do too much over there. All I'm doing is switching between these three colors, sap green, dark green, and chrome yellow. Sometimes I'm taking a bit of white as well, just give it create a lighter shed. But pretty much these are the three colors that I'm switching between to create all the leaves. Now, this is really important to, you don't want to use just the same color to create all the leaves because the more variety of shades that you create in your leaves and the painting looks more gotchas. And as you have understood by now that the shapes are pretty much the same for all the lease. Some are small, some are bigger, so I don't do same size and also don't do same shades. So rather than mixing up all the pins, every time you are picking up, being tried to pick up a different shape, maybe sometimes just more of yellow, sometime yellow and subgrade mixed. Maybe sometimes Sap Green and Dahlgren makes. Maybe sometime just Dahlgren, maybe sometime dark green and white. So mix-and-match in your own way. I'm just giving you all the ideas that you can use to create these leaves so you can feel free to do it in your own way. Just another, another thing to keep in mind is as we are coming down, the color of the leaves are going to get a bit darker. And as it is on the top layer, it is more light off. That's it. You can see how much I am creating the textures using that tick bodies. So that is one of the benefits of using tic body pains in your, in text. You can create amazing textures. So have fun with this step. It's going to be a little Lindy state provided to. You will enjoy so much. So you can just keep watching mine and keep doing yours. Time to take out some more step green. So as you might have noticed, that I don't take out a lot of paint and keep it on my plate because as you know, take body bands dry really foster and even acrylic painting paints in general also drive pretty fast. So every time I use my bands, I just take out a little bit from the tube as much I needed. And once they are, or I take them out once again. So you can follow this technique to save on your colors and not waste too much. And the teacher. Okay. Yeah. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Now, before moving further on with their lives, I just want to create a little bit of bonds Sienna effect in the painting on the bottom left of it. So I just took out a little bit of buoyancy, Anna. And now all I'm doing is mixing up the white and bond Sienna to keep create a lighter tone and just adding one horizontal line just on top of the window line. Oops, I just got a bit on the black, but that's okay. I can paint it off with black. So just a couple of lines of horizontal strokes over there. That's it. Ok, back to creating leaves again. So make sure you do just a couple of leaves on top of this brown area that we did so that it gets blended in. Just adding a little bit of black to cover up that fluency and apart which got on the black. This part, this thing, what I am doing now is I'm going to do it a bit later on. All the vainly is all, all around the windows so you don't have to do it. All right now because we're going to add some flowers also. And after that we will add all the blacks. Okay, now I'm taking out just a bit of lemon yellow and just add a few strokes of lemon yellow along with chrome yellow. On the yellow areas of our lives that we have done. What happens is when you use a little bit of lemon yellow just gives a more vibrant C into the yellow area and just Gibbs more brightness to European things. So I'm not going to do much because we have a good amount of chrome yellow all around the painting. So I'm just taking the lemon yellow, just adding a feel. Chalks up leaves all around the painting. You can see it's not too much. Just a bit. Mm-hm. So I hope you elide that extruding off leaves body band and using a brush. And with that, we come to the end of step.
6. Step 4: Add Flowers: He will come to step four. So in this step we're going to add some pretty flowers in between the leaves. And so for that I'm taking off cadmium red and chrome yellow. Mix up both the pins and we're going to create the flowers exactly the same technique though baby added the leaves in the previous step. So it's absolutely the same technique tried to create other shapes to the shapes can be different. I am again, I'm not to particular on giving it the right shape, but I'll try to create some textures out of the peak body bins. Here also in this tape also your rules are pretty much the same as they're doing on the top side, try to use some lighter tones as you're doing on the dark side. Downside, you can use a ba daka, daka dorms. And pretty much that's it to skip adding what the colors in your brush and keep adding to the canvas. Now, don't do too much because we don't want to overcrowd the India. As we have added lots of leaves already know it's time to adjust to. That's all. My previous spike is pretty dry. Mixing up a bit with the red or to make it a little lighter, drawn into setting some later dorms here and there. Once again, feel free to go on double of the black window that we have been told because we will cover it up later. So don't be worried too that you're getting on top of the black. It's nothing to worry. Okay. So as I'm arguing on the job site to paint that I am using a bit more of white with a red just to give that beautiful, nice, soothing color so that it's not too bright. I hope you guys are enjoying doing this part. But there's so many critique with all the flowers being added. Okay? Okay. I think most of us don't want to watch your brush. And now since I have a little bit of yellow left on my plate and I don't want to waste it. So what I'm gonna do is I'm gonna use that yellow along with green. And I'm just going to add a few more leaves to the to the banners. That said it's not a very nice city-state with just that. I didn't want to waste all the yellow line on the fleet, so I'm just adding a couple of strokes here on there. So you understand my process of painting business, but I do, if I having sustained a create a few more leaves. I hope you enjoyed this tape and we'll put some beautiful flowers.
7. Step 5: Add Branches: Welcome to stay in this state. They just plain black and discovered out all the edges of the window that we have been dead. But maybe some of the greens are, the flowers have come on job. So it's just going along the border and all the whole canvas to the edges of the window and painted black just to give it a clean Bordeaux. Okay. No. And after that, I'm going to add a couple of more lines in between to create the window look of it. So I'm just going to create a horizontal line in-between and wanted the line again, if you'll feel uncomfortable doing it freehand, Vilfredo, take use of ruler or whatever you will have at all. And just a basic. And it doesn't have to be exact. Now I'll take some more of my brush already has black. And that was just going to mix it up a bit with some of the branches from the window. It's gotta be more fresh and coming inside the same branch that you're using. Or you can even find a brush to create the benches. But to automate this tape is P90 branches from all around the window. I am actually makes things a little bit of buoyancy and then black. It might look like just black to you guys, but in some places I'm keeping modals burnt sienna as well. And one of the tape of creating really nice branches is to have a good amount of water. That way you can now create the branch is really smoothly the brush we move smoothly and you will be able to create the final lines. Okay. Right. Yeah. Okay. Okay. Okay. Yeah. What we do, make it full screen and feel feel the branches are too small for you to watch it. Individual Mike excludes screen, you will get a really good idea of how small lines I am creating, the final lines of the branches. Some of the lines I'm even taking from behind the leaves. I'm not picking all of them from the front. So what should a little bit and you'll get a perfect idea. You don't have to watch this whole thing. You can paint along with me. So by the time I finish, you should be able to finish as well. Okay. Well, that's a little bit I'm sure you got a good idea. I'll call to create all the branches that Gulf states.
8. Step 6: Define The WIndow: Welcome to step six. In this step we're going to do is the black borders that we've done around the window. Now we're just going to define it little bit. We could add some textures on it. Not idiotic body paint, but I'm reduce mostly my fluid acrylics to do this. So now let me tell you how I'm going to proceed this whole steps are willing to use more of white and born Sienna mix to give that wouldn't affect on the window sill. And I am going to use a beautiful just glean white also in-between. But one thing you will notice that I will not wash my brush, brush, but starting off with now, I am not going to watch my brushes. I'm just going to switch from one color to another. And one thing, another thing, make sure that you don't pick up tons of paint. Have really lesbian Tony, your brush and no water so that you can, when you are just brushing it onto your canvas, it just creates a very thin texture on the canvas. And we don't want to cover up the entire Black also that we have at the background. So we are going to go really, really fader, which kind of floating on top of your canvas without much pressure so that it creates a very light line on top of the black and create some texture. So keep following the step. You can watch it little bit what I'm doing because there is no defined step over here. All I'm doing is one Sienna white mix. That's what I am just rushing around all around the black. And in some places I'll just add a mortified. Okay. Okay. Notice one thing. Sometimes I'm just blame couple of dense more, but it's better to do more times than adding tons of paint because you don't want that black background to go off the black, but that we have done on the window, you don't want that black to vanish red. You just want to add slight amount of texture on top of it. So every time you're using your brushstrokes on it, this do absolutely feather touch. Very gentle strokes so that it creates the strokes very defined in a very nice way and it does not create, make sure you don't paint entire brown, white, and black. I hope I'm making sense. I hope you are getting it. So you can just watch how I'm doing it a bit. Even see when I'm adding this white, I am not adding too much of white. My brushes gliding on top of my canvas very, very smoothly so that I don't create a lot of color on it. Okay. Right. Yeah. In some sense out of this step because it's just random stroking all around the black and creating some defined awake lines. Even the wetlands are not really very defined. They are also pretty extreme remains. But by the end of this tape, you'll see that the plain black border of the window that you hired has converted to such a nice texture 2D when don't look. So this is also very important part of the spin thing to give some nice realistic look to the leaves that we have created. And with that, we come to the end of step six.
9. Step 7: Sunrays + Closing words: All right, so finally we are at the last step of this painting. Thank you for sticking around for such a long time. I know it's been a little complicated and a little Lindy painting. But we are the most beautiful stage of this painting. The very last step where we're going to paint the sunlight through this beautiful window. So you need two colors. One is white and one is lemon yellow. Okay, and I will use a little bit of green and the mix of yellow, red. It was the end, but that'll be very light. So forcing you to do is just with your brush a bit. Absolutely. List. That's why I'm showing you don't need the entire Brussel inside your water. Just touch it little bit so that it just get a tiny bit of wet. And then mix up your lemony yellow and white. Wipe it off if there is any excess water or excess paint, just wipe it off oil, just take little bit of a bit of kind of diluted white and yellow because you do want to add too much of the pinned. That's the reason we are diluting it. If you don't dilute, it would be like a prominent white and yellow. Now, you have to do it right in one shot. What I mean by that is, don't worry. What you can do is just watch this, but it's a very small video. It's not going to be a daily in the process. So just watch it. See I am using the flat rash so that I can, I can make a few lines together in just one stroke. See, I just took one stroke but I kind of do a formed 34 lines, 5-6 lines already just by 23 strokes. And I am doing brushing it a very light. Your MAC address absolutely likely, as you can see, a bullying my brush very loose and does dragging it. And this is only happening. This is possible only if you have kind of diluted paint on your branch. So that is very important step and that's why I'm repeating it so many times. Make sure you have kind of diluted, faint and not the peak bent. And all you're doing is very gently brushing it through in that diagonal direction. Now do very less solace that as if it is not visible. So if it is not visible, you can go ahead again and go what's more time on top of it. But don't make a really dark line. Okay, that's the most important part. So just keep dragging, keep dragging. So what I'm doing is using the pigs side of the brush. At some point I am using the genocide of the brushes fell to create some of the defined lines. So I'm trying to pick up a bit of the chrome, yellow, and red mix, but it's pretty much dried, so I'm not really picking up a lot. It's all drive this been surveyed dry. So just a bit of chrome yellow to give that warmth of the sun. Because lemony yellow is pretty cool, right? So that's why I'm mixing a bit of chrome yellow just to get that warmth of the sun. And we're continuing the process, same process, just the color is different. You can see how lists paint I have in my brush. Very crucial point for creating those sundries. Okay, go very, very slow, very slowly. And what I'm doing here is you see that black line of the window going through throughout the painting, the horizontal line, the center. So I just added a bit more color over there because it's kind of black. So if you don't add what they're a little bit more color, it could be very light. So I'm not adding that raise in anywhere else, but just on that black line just a bit more. That's it. I'm adding just a little bit of white Morrow. And that's pretty much it guys. It's done. Just follow along and you'll be able to finish this painting. So I hope you, you did a fantastic job by the end of it and you created your masterpiece that you are very proud to hang on your wall. And do let me know if you have any feedback. If you want, if you have any question, put it in the discussion below. And I look forward to seeing the beautiful paintings that he lays create. So please take a picture once you finish it and posted under the projects below, because I love to see what you guys create and thank you so much for joining me in this class. I know it's been a bit limbic class. But it's worth the effort provided the kind of painting that you would get at the end of this class. So thank you so much for joining in and I'll see you in the next class. Bye.
