Unlock Your Creative Potential: Designing Patterns with AI Image Generator

Are you ready to create your own pattern designs? Introducing my new class that combines your creativity with the power of AI image generation. In this learning experience, you'll discover some possibilities of designing patterns with AI as your trusted collaborator. I have named my AI assistant Artie and the robot near me to symbolize A.I. image generation that we hire.

Throughout the class, you'll explore four exciting scenarios where you and AI join forces to create stunning patterns that captivate and inspire. Let's dive into what awaits you:

  1. Collaboration in Four Scenarios:
You'll harness your creative vision, manage the project, and make crucial decisions. Meanwhile, the A.I. image generator, Leonardo.ai, becomes your invaluable assistant, helping you bring your ideas to life by generating a unique and captivating element, either based on your text demands, or based on your visual demands.

  2. Learning How to Edit Images:
Creating patterns involves a keen understanding of technical aspects. We'll guide you through essential tips and tricks, such as how to work with layers, remove background, check the pattern,  working with CMYK color mode to ensure accurate color representation. You'll also learn about DPI (dots per inch) and how it affects the quality of your patterns. You'll learn how to make  larger pattern files using another A.I. assistant to maintain their integrity and quality. I also tell you about finding different color palettes for your design.

  3. Productizing Your Design:
After the class, you know how to turn your design into a paper covered with that. You will also know to start your online shop, make different products using your pattern design, how to scale pattern and how to set different backgrounds for them.

This class does not need any prerequisite knowledge, and I have explained all from basic. You only need Internet, and browser, we use online sites to create and edit our designs.

Join our class and embark on an exhilarating journey that combines human creativity and A.I. Ask your questions in the discussion board, share your projects in the project gallery and if start your own online shop, share its web address in the discussion board too.

1. Intro: This is to my robot. This is my pillow. This is my notebook. Can you relate these two together? 321. I like to read few sentences in this class. I will do that too. Some day I made a design for a T shirt. That was a good experience. One day I started designing pattern for a larger, a curtain shower. As I started working on that, my computer became slower and it was like steam coming out of my ears. Then I found that life can be more much easier. Look at my pillow, look at my, look at my scarf, Look at my wallpaper. Instead, look at shallow homes, room wallpaper coming. What makes life easier? Instead of designing a large surface, we can design a tie in a way that by repeating that all the surface can be covered. Yes, that is repeatable pattern. Now look around yourself and find patterns we want. Design tires, that is called seamless pattern, but life can be even more easier at Smart because here we have art. Art is my AI, image generator assistant and soon will be your assistant too. I manage and decide about the design motives, arrangements, colors, and Art is my assistant and art collaborating four different scenarios to make repeatable patterns in four workflows. And art have tried many ways. We went through many lens and I have picked up only the best flowers for you. That means we show you the easiest, straightforward way to get results fast among many platforms. I have chosen Leonardo for you. That is powerful, very easy to work because of its visual user interface, and it is free to work. The good point is that you don't need any fancy computer or any subscription to a software or application. Just an internet browser is enough because for editing the user powerful and free online editor called photo P. This is the key for entering this clad. I give this only to those who are to either design and print a paper covered with their design as a wrapping paper or they are determined to start their own online shop of products with their beautiful design. No worry. I tell you the easy, easy way to make your products. And start your online shop with no budget, if you promise. Then here this is your key and welcome to the class. 2. Scenario 1: Warmup: Welcome to this lesson. In this scenario, I just let art to create, play, and dance, then I edit it, creations, and character mistakes. This scenario is for teaching you how to interact with art. Choosing an AI image generator platform and working with that. By AI, I mean artificial intelligence. There are several free and paid AI art generators. I have tried and work with them, but as I told you and RT bring you the easiest and fastest way to start. Among all. I have chosen Leonardo for you because I know my students might feel more comfortable with the visual user interface rather than just typing all the things you want. Leonardo provides some buttons, slide bars, and other visual options which provides us control over our creations. Like size of image, number of image we want to produce, the model we want to use, and so on. Another reason that I have chosen Leonardo is that every day it gives you 150 free coins. That does not end as a trial. It charges every day. This is a good way to start without any subscription to any platform or any software. First, you should join Leonardo. Go to website and create an account. An e mail will be sent to you. Then choose, I want immediate access and another email will be sent to you. You can set your password and start using the website at app pponardoiow. I want to make a pattern for nursery niche. Now we have a place to type what we want. We call this prompt. There are other items to choose, like model. I will explain it later. Here I type a nursery pattern for Nursery Deco. I choose the size of image, width, and height. I set the number of images I want to generate. Producing more images. Use more coins, less number. Use less coins. I suggest if you are on show about a prompt, use less number of images to expense less coins in that day. Because every day as I told you, coins are charged. Well now let's tap on the image and watch it in the sale. How cute. But with some serial animals that I prefer to delete them. No worries. I can correct and change them in an editing online environment, Photop. Let's look at the other image now. Let's try some other patterns by adding in weed colors to the put. Make sure tiling is still on and well, how nice. Let's look in detail. We can edit the unwanted things easily. For example, this foot. Now let's learn how to check our pattern and see if we cover a surface with that, how it would be appear. Search for seamless pattern test. We have many results. I click on the first one. Upload the pattern that you want to test using slide bar, I change how large or small I want it to be. Let's try another. You see there is no element half cut or cropped. The pattern is okay. It's repeatable. By clicking on this button, I download the pattern, you can then print that and use it as a wrapping paper. Take a nice photo of that and add that photo to your project. To the project gallery of this class. Also, add that to your portfolio or share that on your social media. Okay, let's learn editing in the next lesson. But by far, just do the warm up. Start working with Leonardo. Make prompts, make sure the tiling is on. Also get familiar and comfortable with the environment. If you don't do the warm up now and leave it for other times, and just start watching lessons, the many informations accumulate in your mind unconsciously. You might stop from working. Okay, just now, start making a little bit working with Leonardo. Try typing some prompt and then come to the next lesson. See you in the next lesson. 3. Scenario 1: Edit and Save: In this lesson we want to edit the image we had from the previous lesson and remove the weed things in them, like those surreal animals. Search for photop, then go to website photo P.com It's a web based photo and graphic editor. If you click on this new project, you can start your own new project and set the properties of that weight and height. But here we use open, open the image that Art gave us in there previous lesson. Choose and open the file that you want. Now we have our design. I want to cover these creatures and also maybe duplicate clouds. I select brush to cover the creatures, we need to change the color to the same color background. In order to that, I select this square and then click on any point on the background. Now the color will be set the same color as background. Now as the brush tool is selected, I cover the creatures by painting over them. Now let me show a useful and wonderful feature from View Menu select View Pattern. Wow, you can have a preview of your design as if it is repeated on a surface. To zoom in or zoom out, you can click on this magnifier icon, and then by right click, choose Zoom in, or zoom out. But I personally use keyboard shortcuts, control and plus for zooming in and control and minus for zooming out. Try now I want to fill this empty area. Let's copy this balloon and paste it in the unfilled area. Let me show you how using this selection tool, I select a balloon by clicking and dragging around it. Then I press control C to copy and press control V to paste. It asks me for clipboard axis and I accept. You see we have another layer with the balloon. I press control again, and now we have one more balloon. Now as the first two is selected, I click and drag the balloon and put it in a place that it looks good to my eyes. I now want to have more clouds. First, select the image layer, then I select the area around the club, the same as we did for the balloon. I copy and paste the cloud. Put time and repeat the process as much as you find your pattern pleasing, not dance, and not sparse in some areas. Here I clone more clouds and flowers. Let me show you two other tips as you say, instead of control C and control V, you can use menus to copy and paste two, Select edit menu, then select Copy again, select Edit, and select Paste. Also, if you want to duplicate a layer, you can write, click on the layer and press Duplicate Layer, or you can simply press Control. Then the whole layer is duplicated as a new layer. You can find it in the layer section. Now I want to teach you how to save your file. You can turn a pattern view to check your tile to make sure everything is okay. For saving the file, select File Menu. Here we have three options. We'll save your file in the cloud. I don't need that now. Save us. Psd will give me a file that has all layers and that that is a good one. But here I just want a simple image. I choose ports, I select JPG file, also known as JP files, then I download JPG file on my computer. Now I can make a wrapping paper using this design, or I can upload that to products on my online shop. Come to the next lesson and I teach you how to do that. 4. Scenario 1: Online Shop: Okay, now let's see how would be my online shop if I had my design on my products, if it was all times. For example, I want to have an online shop with mug. I should make my pattern for a mug. Then I go and print the pattern on the mugs. Then I took photos of the mugs and other products with my patterns. Then I edit the photos and uploaded them to my online shop. But nowadays, using some platforms it's so easy and fast. Let's see search for POD platforms and choose one of them based on your interest and the conditions of them. Pod means print on demand. The products are produced after a customer demand to buy one of them. I choose Red bubble, for example. Here I go to add new work and then upload new work. I select my file, I choose a name that helps the product to be visible among search results. For example, nursery cute for new baby. Now I add text to make it more visible as website suggestions. Infant baby pregnancy balloons, cloud, dreamy fairy. Then I add a description. The description can be the story you have behind your creation or the meaning of the design. Anything that if the customers know that they might be more interested to buy your product. Now scroll down, we see products. If we set the product as disabled, it won't be appear in our shop, but if we set it as enabled, that would be available in our online shop. Now look at here, our design is not repeated. Let's make it cover on the surface by repeating itself like tiles. First, I enable it, then I press Edit, and then I select choose Pattern. After that, I press over regular grid. By scrolling this on scale pattern, you can choose how large or small the pattern should be on the design. Of course, for having it on large size products, for example, shower tin, you should have prepare a larger image. No worries. There is a way that if your image isn't medium size, you can change that to a large size. There is a trick I will tell you in the following. Okay. Then I do the enabling and disabling and editing process for other products. Then at the bottom of the page, you choose the default product that mean the product that will be shown on the first page of your shop. Here I chose duffel bag. I make it available to public. I confirm it's not adult created content. I check the check box and press save work. It takes time for processing. Now I see the products and they will appear on my shop after 15 minutes to let's check their products. As you see, we have a bug. It seems I have forgotten to apply chose pattern to phone cases. I press Edit Pattern and I start correcting it. Let's check it again, and yes, it's lovely. Yes, in the next lesson, we go for an other scenario. I want to use this flower. Come to the next lesson. O. 5. Scenario 2: Flowers: Welcome to the second scenario. This scenario I give art a photo of a real object or a photo of one of my illustrations art, then get that image and based on that, produced some images and gave them to me. Then I edit the images, remove background, correct them, edit them, then align those elements to form a pattern. For example, in this scenario, I give Art a photo of this flower. Art gave me some flowers. Then I align those flowers after cleaning them to form a floral pattern. Let's see, When being scroll down the left side bar, there is an option called image to image. I select that, then I upload the photo I have taken from this flower. Now in the prompt section, I enter the prompt. A yellow flower and pastel color. In Leonardo, we have a section called model. You can use the model from Leonardo itself. You can use the model from the community, even. You can make your own model. Yes, you can. You can choose from the drop menu or you can choose Select Custom Model. Then here you can see other models and search for one. I like a model called illustration two, but it has one L. Let me search for that now let's try that. These are the models made by the community. Pm section has a part called negative Pm. That means what you don't want to be in the image, I enable it and type stem to have a flower without a stem. I'm not happy with the result. I start making changes and see what happens. For example, I add inked lines to the prompt. I change the negative prong to blery lines. Let's hit Generate. This time I add vector style clipart style to the Pmt. I change the negative prom to photo realistic. That means I don't want to be photorealistic. I want it to be more like illustration, waiting. Grasp the breath. I want this. Let's add white background to the prom and add background to negative prom. It has a still background but no problem. We can remove it easily with photop. I will tell you O. 6. Scenario 2: Arrangement: Four. Okay, now that Arti has prepared several flowers for me, I want to make a pattern by aligning them together. I go to Photop and then go to File open and select all the files of flowers. Now I have all four images open. My image resolution is 1,500 by 700. I make a new 3,000 by 3,000 image. To make my design a repeatable pattern, I set a name for it and click on Create. Here we have a blank file. I select the rectangle shape around each flower. Select Edit menu, and then Copy. Then I go to the blank design. I select Edit menu and select Paste. I repeat this for all the four flowers. As you know, you can use keyboard cuts to control C, control V for copying and pasting. Now we want to remove background. For removing the background. There are three ways I will tell you now, but be patient and wait for the one because it gets easier. As I tell you the first, second, and third way. First way, a very basic way is using eraser, a tool that you can find it in the tool bar on the left side, but it's time taking and I advise it for delicate areas the second way. The other option is using magic wand tool that is on the left side bar. Using this option, if you click on a color, all the area around that point with that color will be suddenly selected. If you uncheck the continuous checkbox that is on top bar, then all the areas with that color will be selected regardless whether they are connected to that part or no. They are far on O point. Just having the same color is enough. Now that with just a blink of an eye, you have selected all the points with the same color, hit delete on the keyboard, and then all will be erased in case you find a section of the image is selected, but you don't want that to be selected. Here is the solution. Just click on Free lesser tool on the left tool bar while holding Alt key on the keyboard. Drag mouse around that part that you want to exclude. Holding Alt and selecting means exclusion from the selection. Then you hit the lead and the area is cleared. After that clean the remain part eraser. Now time for the third way, the easiest way. The good news is that I recommend those previous ways for very delicate part that this way does not answer because this way is the most easiest one. Now time for this easiest way. The tool is called Quick selection. Click and hold on. This tiny arrow icon near magic one to other tools will be shown to you. Now select Quick Selection to select the layer that you want to remove background from that quick selection. To start brushing over the flower, it detects the object and select that wow reminder in case something unwanted was selected at Alton keyboard, then click and drag moss over it to exclude that area. Now flower is selected, it control X to cut it and then control V to paste it. Now we have the flower and its background in two separate layers. To delete the background layer selected and delete icon or delete it on the keyboard. This is the easiest and fastest way, as I told you, leave the two previous ways for when this method does not give you the result you want. Let's do it again. There is another tool like quick selection and that is object selection tool. Instead of brushing over the area, you just draw a rectangle around the area by dragging and dropping the mouse or pen or finger, depending on your device. Okay, I select Floware, detects it. I hit Control X or Edit, menu select Cut, I make a new layer, hit control V, then delete the background layer. While the pattern is active, I change the position of floware by dragging and dropping them to get the final design that I like. Look my student, there are some defined and common alignment of motives and a pattern. For example, half drop, full drop, diamond Ogi, also pronounced ogi. But I don't tell you, I intentionally don't tell you now in this class. Why? Because I want you to create. Just play with them. Just create, move, try and then move it again to let your creativity flourish. Maybe later when you start searching and learning for them, you tell yourself, oh, I have made this just myself. Have created this design just spontaneously by myself. That time you enjoy a lot. Now, I don't tell you about those common patterns. I just want you to create and let your creativity flourish and gather all what you create. Always train your eyes to see the patterns around yourself and try to analyze them. Back to computer. I am now happy with this. Here, beneath all the layers, I have put a layer filled with black color. Just using paint bucket tool, choosing black color, and then coloring the layer beneath. Try several colors, play with them. You and your device also. Try pink, light blue, lemon green, light gray, dark blue. Yes, I'm happy with this. Let's try some more to save the pattern. Choose five exports, and then choose JPG. Then we have that as a Jpg file. Time for a new thing to learn. I hear turn off, I mean tackle off the year background layer so it gets invisible. These white and gray squares means that there is no color on those areas. Even white color, those areas are transparent. Now I go to File Menu Exports. I hit G. This time I hit PNG instead of JPG. It gives me a file that has transparent areas. Wow, if it is printed on any color of paper or clove, then the background would be the same color as that clove or paper. 7. Scenario 2: Make it Larger: Why do you remember that? In the previous lessons I told you that for printing on large surface, for example, curtain showers, we should have large files. Okay, then we made patterns to cover all the curtain with just one type. But if we want to have the pattern in large size, then again we should have rather large files. But the files that Art gave us was not very large. They were medium size. Is there any way that we can have our files, for example, that floral pattern in a bit larger file, We can have our pattern on a larger product in larger scale. Here again, we want to ask Art to do this magic for us. Just search for vectorizer I and go to visit vectorizer. Look in computer science, image files are two types. First files, files are saved in a way that if you zoom on them, then they get L from a point. The second type are vector files. Vector files are saved based on mathematical formulas. You can zoom on them as much as you want. Now, we want to ask RT to give us a vector file. Look at here. I zoom on one of the previous files. You see here. It gets Larry here, I ask RT, get my pattern, which is in medium size and in pixel format, then produce that in vector file format. Pick image and select your design file. I hit, okay. Rt starts processing. Well, it gave me a vector file. I hit Download among different formats. I choose G, I hit download. Now I have a vector file that I can easily zoom in. Now I want to make a large repeatable pattern using this SVG file. Next step, open Photo. Create a new file with large, high resolution. For example, 6,560, 500. Don't worry if your computer is slow, don't worry because everything is processed on photo piece server side. I want to open that SVG file and stretch it because as I told you, the vector files such as SVG files are stretchable. Now I click on File, then I select Open end Place. The difference between open, open end place is that open opens the file in a new tab. But open place, open it just in this tab and place it as a new layer. Which makes it easier for me for the next step. Now I can select the SVG file. As you see, it's now added as a new layer. I move the layer upward to be visible. To stretch it, select the layer, go to Edit menu, and then select Free Transform. You see the keyboard shortcut for it is old, plus control, plus you see a blue border with handles appear. I drag and drop one of the corners to stretch it, or better to say scale it. If you hold out on keyboard while scaling the center would remain fixed. That is very easy to do the scaling. Try it on your site. Now I turn on the pattern view to check if it is good. Yes, I am happy with it. Now it's time to save the large file. You know you already know how it is. Go to file, then exports. I turn off the background and save it as a PNG file with transparent background. Notice the dimensions, I set a name. Just as a review, let's make a JP file two. I add a new layer by clicking on this icon on the layer tab. Then using paint packet two, I fill the background with a color that looks good. Then we go to file export as JPG. And well, we have it now. Let's go to our online shop and make products by having our large size floral pattern. And then this time I select and upload my PNG file. As you see, yes, it is accepted. Then start adding name tags and description. Yellow floral pattern, vintage cottage core, I add these tags. Vintage cottage cottage core, aesthetics, flowers, floral pattern, yellow flower, common mile, and a description. I write, I received a beautiful buck of flowers. I decided to make one of them last forever by turning it into a lovely floral pattern, giving G lively vibe. I disable items that are not accepting repeatable patterns. And for the items I enable, I active choose patterns and then regular grid look at here. Since our pattern is PNG and it has transparent points, I can set the background here. That is the advantage of working with PNG files. For example, I choose this color and look here for stickers, It gives us the possibility to have sticker pack. Sticker pack are more economic to buy, so they are selling more. Look at this shower curtain. This explains, well, why I make the pattern large. If my pattern was small, I could not have this product with these big flowers on that. I set other products and play with background color and scale of the pattern. If you want to make the pattern to fit in the product shape, you can choose center horizontally and center vertically, or just drag and drop the pattern. You see for back, it shows the cut lines and sewing lines to produce the product. It's the same for duffel bag and legging. Again, here I set the default product and fill other options. Now let's see their products. Wow, look at this, how lovely these are. I want to buy them all. Imagine I come back home with this backpack after changing. Then I go and lie down on this bed cover. I look at this lovely clock. I open this lovely notebook and start journaling as a common male guest. In the next lesson, me and Artie collaborate for another interesting scenario. Come to the next lesson. See you. 8. Scenario 3: Nursery Theme Elements: To make a pattern for nursery niche, I want to create elements and then put them together. Let's gather some ideas about the elements and items that are popular in nursery, search for nursery decor. Look at the photos. I can see sunflower clouds, balls, airplane again, graf minimal three design. I search for nursery cloth to see the patterns on cloth. No, this is not what I wanted. Let's search nursing cloth or no. I now search infant cloth. I'll show you this to you to tell you there is nothing wrong with trying, getting feedback and then correcting everything should not be perfect in the first try. The same as the writer might write some lines then correct them, erase them, or a painter might even cover some of the things that they have painted with new items. Don't expect everything to be perfect in the first try. Now let's try nursery pattern. Yes, cloud y flowers, foods, rainbow, moon, sun. Some are in bit colors and some have pastel colors. If you are looking for an item that you don't know, it's equivalent in English for example. English is not your first language. You can write prompts in your language, but you can also use online translator for example. Now I want to see what is the word for those bottles containing milk for babies. Here I search for Shisha Shire pace and it gives me baby bottle and nursery bottle. Okay, I will keep this for later. Now I want to make clouds. I'll start with this prompt. Stylized sky with cute baby cloud having cartoony smile. Thanks Artie. Let's try another model. I selected illustrated two with one. Yes. Yes. More flat. I like it. I changed the prompt to a simple one, stylized cute baby cloud. No, it looked like a sheep. The cute baby cloud, no, let me omit the word baby. Not always, you get a perfect result in the first try. Just be patient. I change Promp and still use illustrated two stylized sky with five cute baby cloud. Having smile. Yes, yes. Let's download it. Look at this, I can correct it if I want. This one is also a cute. Now let's make a rainbow element. You see, I have done some tries before. I type a rainbow clip part on white background. I like this, I download, now let's make another. But I add in pastel color to the prompt. Yes, this is good. I download it. 9. Scenario 3: Image Prompt: Ladies and gentlemen at attention now, me and Artie want to make a rainbow in a different way. Look carefully now, instead of just writing a rainbow, I want to draw a rainbow. Give it to Artie and ask it to make your rainbow like that first. In just draw a rough sketch of a rainbow. No need to be clean. Just a rough sketch by four. We have learned image to image in Leonardo. Yes, this is not what we use now let's see why if I use image to image and then type this prompt, a rainbow clip part in pastel color. I ask to generate only two images, and it keeps the lines of my sketch. But I don't want RT to just alter my sketch. I want RT to consider it as a prompt about the curve size and place of the rainbow. Now this is the new thing to learn here. Instead I choose image from the left bar. If this is disabled, turn off prompt magic option first, and then generate waiting look awesome. Yes, now I add full height to prompt to have it in the frame and hit Generate it. Do you like it now? Time to make a sun. Remove the images from image prompt and image to image. I use this prompt. A minimal sun clepart on white background. Now a minimal smiling sun. What's your opinion? Let's down load an idea. Let's try this prompt for a cloud again. A smiling cloud clipart, White background. Yes, download and this one is also good for downloading. What's the next element? A nurse smiling giraffe and white background. Let's delete the word, smiling like it. Let's download it now. I try making it more cartoony. A minimal cartoony girafm, white background. Yes, I like this downloaded. Now let's make a baby bottle, a minimal nursery bottle clipart on white background. I use model illustration two like before attention, I don't change style and mode because I want all the elements look similar to each other. That's why I don't change the model when I am in this scenario. What I understand you were a robot since you were born. As you see my tries for nursery baby bottle and pacifier Burnett sex. I can generate them by image to image prompt. But I prefer to leave them because I already have generated many other elements in nurse pattern. Let's make a lollipop and then go for aligning the elements into a pattern. A minimal lollipop vector art on white background. Nice, loaded. Generate two others I download. You can also define colors in the prompt. A minimal pink and blue lollipop vector art. White background. Now I make birds a minimal bird on white background. This is black, I want a red one. Well, I can edit that and change the color. But now I directly ask Art to make a red one. I add red to the prompt. A minimal red bird and white background color. Now I want a bird in the same color as your color. Blue. A minimal blue bird and white background. The last element I make is a balloon. A balloon vivid colors, minimal style cartoon style to the flat a full length. Now, head over to photo to make the pattern O. 10. Scenario 3: Community Feed and Color Harmony: Before we go to use our elements to make a pattern, let me tell you a way to empower your ability to write prompts. If you click on community feed, you can scroll or search for a specified keyboard. Here I search for Ira among results, I chose one of them. Here I can see the pump that created this image by this prompt. As a whole, we always try to look around in the community feed and see other people's creation. Not only enjoy them, but also write down any words, tricks, or expression that get your attention in the pumps. You can write them in a paper notebook or open a digital file for notes about prompts. This self study improves your ability to write prompts. Now we want to use the elements we made and align them to form a pattern. I create a blank file in photop. As you remember for opening many images as separate layers. We choose file and then open place. I move them around and tackle off the icon near the items that I don't want them to be reversible. Okay, now I have said all the elements that I want. Then I start removing the background. You know how to remove background as we talked about it in the previous scenarios. Just an important tip. Notice that you cannot delete any selection from the layers. Just do these steps before that. First, right click on the layer, then select Rasterize. Now you can easily raise or select and hit Delete Key to remove the unwanted parts or background. Then I turn down Pattern View from menu and start moving elements over the surface of the tie. Well, now my pattern is ready. Look it here carefully. Your elements might not look alike regarding their color. Here, I teach you a way to make them look like each other. First, on the right side in the layer panel. Select the layer that is visible and is on top of all other layers. Then go to Window Menu and select Adjustment. Now a panel appears on the right side, the adjustment panel. Each item and adjustment. Do something. You can play them and learn them. But now I want to teach you photo filter by clicking on this icon that looks like a camera lens. Now click on the orange color and see how all layers below changing look as you change the color. Scrolling the density slide bar gives you more control. Use this photo fielder and other adjustment layer options to make the elements look harmonious and similar to each other. Same in the next lesson. 11. Scenario 3: Color Mode: Okay, now I am happy and I want to save it first. I save it as a PSD file. As I told you, it gives me the ability to change the layers later. Now I export it as a JPG file. Now I turn off the visibility of background and export it as a transparent PNG file to make it larger. You already know I had over vector that AI website, choose and convert it to a SVG file. Downloaded. I make a large blank file in photop. I have a new point for you now, new lesson attention. There is an option called PI, which means that per inch for web users 72 is okay. But for printing, larger DPIs gives better quality for printing, for example, 150 or 300. These are good PI for printing, okay. I then open and place the vector SG file, scale it, check it in the pattern and save it. We talked about printing about DPI to have better printing. Now about colors in printing, let me teach you something new. We see images on phone and tablet, or on computer in RGB mode. You might have noticed when you print a design on your computer, then what you have seen in your printed paper is a little bit darker. What we can do to find out how will our design be seen on a printed material? This is how if you select image Men and then mode, then CMYK, you see the images in the color that they will look when printed. You can choose this option before making your patterns. But if you are making patterns for digital work, for example, you are making patterns for a web application, for a phone, wallpaper, for social media, for advertisements. Then keep working in RGB mode. Cmyk is for printing word, same as previous scenario. I export the file as JPG or if you'd like to have transparent areas, PNG five is a good file. Now head over my online shop, I upload the pattern, add name tags, and add description. Here I have a suggestion. I want to have good ideas about tags. Is there any tool? Yes, Search for red bubble tag generator. There are many results, even a browser extension. Cool, I choose this one top bubble index. Here I enter some keyboard like nursery and hit search tags. Then it gives me some tags. I don't want to use all of them. For example, nurse life is not related but no problem. I can't delete them. I copy them all. Paste them in my design tag section and start deleting the unwanted ones. After that, I enter the description, Happiness as came to your house with a newborn baby. Let me celebrate this with my happy nursery design. With my best wishes. If you like, you can ask artist chat bar to help you writing in the description. For example, some AI chat, for example, chat GBT board being chat. They can help you to write some description and you can copy and paste them. I suggest that you use them just for inspiration to have your own words and your own soul in your design and writings. Now I prefer just to write my words, Now I go for editing the items. These products does not allow repeated patterns. I disable them. And I edit all other products by choosing regular grid, changing scale, and set the background color that I prefer. You do that for the colors as you prefer. Look at the curtain shower. Our pattern was small, we couldn't have that in this scale. But using vectorizer, thanks to art, we make our pattern larger. I enable items that are proper for this pattern. For example, a notebook might also be nice. For example, a mother using this notebook for writing notes about their newborn baby. They choose this notebook to be in the same design of the duffel bag for babies clot. Okay, now I choose the default product, set it as public and choose, it's not a mature content. Check the agreement and save the work. Let's go take a look at products. Wow, lovely. Look at these stickers, the duffle bag, the Mark. Look at this Lipper part, this hardcover journal. I'm not happy with them. The head of giraffe is cut in a way that the if is not in a good place. Let's edit and correct them by scaling or dragging the pattern. Do this checking process for your items in your online shop. Have the best products in your shop. Again, look at this duffo bag, it's really lovely. Are you ready for another scenario of collaboration between me and RT? Come to the next lesson. Let's learn. See you in the next lesson. O. 12. Break Time: Color Party: Okay, time for a break before we go for another scenario. Let me tell you something about colors. Years ago when I made animation, I knew something was wrong. I asked my professors, my classmates and they were not hitting on the nail. They said something about composition about Anim, but I knew something was not working. This was mystery until I started learning about colors. I remember I borrowed an art book from library. Artbook is something that many animations have. Art book. I borrowed art book and I found they have color keys. They define the colors in the story. When I started learning about colors and color palettes, I found colors are hidden storytellers. Colors are parcels that deliver emotions. If you apply a very good color palette on your design, that's a good success. Not only that, but also you don't generate a pattern only in one color. If you have made a pattern, for example, that floral pattern in yellow, you can also produce that pattern in red color, in pink color, in blue color, and produce many different combinations and variations of colors. But where to find color palettes? There are sites that help you now just search for color palette generator. Here I go to coolers code. I click on Start the Generator. Every time I hit a space keyon keyboard, it gives me a new palette. By clicking on this lock icon, you can make that color consistent after locking a color. If you hit space, only unlocked colors will change, suggest different palettes. You can use these colors on your design by entering their color code. Pinterest is also another place to collect palettes and inspiration palettes from nature movies and so on. Just go to Pinterest website and search for color palette. You can use photop adjustment layer. There are tools for manipulating colors. Start playing and learning them. If you have any questions, come to the discussion board. Ask your questions in the discussion board. And also try to answer your fellow students questions to I read your questions there and answer the thank thing. Okay, The break time is over. Now, head over to trying our next scenario, which is the last scenario that me and RT AI generator try to make pattern. See you in the next scenario. 13. Scenario 4: Travel Lovers: Welcome to this scenario, the last scenario. Thank you for being with me. By far, you already know what you should know about how to make patterns and make an online shop. Why another scenario? The reason for another scenario is just to motivate you to think out of the box to be creative and not only recreate what you have seen. For example, as I told you, look around and always get inspiration. For example, this is what I got when I bought a flower book. It was designed with this. It has a look like newspaper. You have seen handbags, shopping bags and other items that have text on them. For example, writing Paris travel, love you, thank you. Thanks for shopping. We can have and get an inspiration that we can add text to our design. This is only an example. That's why I told you to make a notebook and always write expression. Okay, let's head over to Leonardo AI. I use this prompt. I want to make a pattern in travels that has both image and text. I use this prompt. A large ship, vintage line art style, inc style black and white. Scratch style for negative lines, colors, colorful shadow gradient. I hit Generate button using same model core, but I want to change it. I add minimal to the prompt, Nice T. I add line to the prompt. And high contrast, I try adding full length an idea. Let's have it like a stamp. I add in a circular shape to the prompt. Wow, yes, this is cool. Yes, really, it's cool. I want this. After generating some more, I download them all, and let's start working on designing the pattern In Photop, I have opened Photop, make a new blank file, and I have its background set to transparent. Now, a blank file without any background opens. Therefore, as you see, it's also possible to either start a pattern without a background or like previous scenarios, you can just tackle of the icon. I mean the visibility of the background layer. There are always many ways to do one thing now by selecting five open and place, I insert two of those ships. The image is small for my design. I want to make my document larger. But without starting from the beginning, just here, I make my image larger. I go to Image menu then, and I enter larger resolution. For example, 4,500 x 4,500 Now I want to remove the gray area. I right click on the layer and choose Size. Now I can select and delete those gray areas. As magic wand tool is selected from the left bar and continuous checkbox is checked on top bar. I click on gray part, it is selected and hit the lays on keyboard. While now I turn on Pattern View by going to Menu and then selecting Pattern View. Then I move the ship circles, okay. Here from the left menu, I select Text. Click on where you want and start typing from top bar, you can change the color, the style, the size, and the front of the text. Now I want to rotate it. First I right click on the text layer and select Rasterize. Then I go to Edit menu and select Free Transform. The blue border with handles appear. Move the mouse around the handles until the cursor look like a curved arrow. Now I can easily rotate the text. I move it, I duplicate the layer and move it to another corner and make it a little bit larger. I want to fill it with some other texts. I want to add name of Great Travelers to this design. My first candidate great Travelers is epnepatute Macrobi traveler. On a period of 30 years, epnepatute traveled more than any other explorer in pre modern history. Following along 117,000 kilometers equal to 73,000 miles. Wow, my second candidate is Foch Marco Polo, an Italian merchant explorer and writer from Venice who traveled Asia along the Silk Road. Yes, Silk Road and Marco Polo are tied together in my mind. My other candidates are Omid War brothers, two Iranian brothers, known as the other of the world's first travel documentary in 1954. They started their journey and there is a museum of what they brought from around the world, the photos and vehicles. Now I select type tool and write Pepa, change font size and style. I add another text, Marco Polo, and another text, Omid War Brothers. I move the text. Yes, I am happy with this. Now let's try different backgrounds. In the previous scenarios, we use paint bucket to make a colored background. Now I want to teach you a new way. First, select a layer that is beneath all other layers on the right, just down below. Select this icon that looks like a half eclipse moon. Then select color field. And choose the color you want to set as background. Feel free to draw anything you like. For example here using brush tool, I want to add a little star like those on maps. You see here, I draw a straight lines. If you want to learn the trick, come to the discussion part of this class. Ask and I will tell you the trick. Cool, love it. Yes, that is cool. By clicking on gray square here and the layer panel, I change the background color to another color. Here, I want to give a sepia look to all of the layers. We need adjustment layer. It is already visible, but you already know if it is not visible, you go to Window menu and select Adjustment. Now from the adjustment panel, I choose photo filter to it gives a Pia look to all the layers below this adjustment. Now I changed the background color to one that matched the whole design. Cool, It's marvelous. It's really marvelous. I like this design. What about you? Wow, I save by choosing file Export as JP set a name and it. Okay, cool. I really enjoy. Let's zoom out now. Let's, Wow. I want to save a PSD file too, to be able to change it later and have access to layers. Now I have assigned the pattern on products. Wow, I think travel lovers will like this. Also a good one for wrapping papers and vintage lovers will like it too. High five students. High five RT. Thanks for being with me through all the scenarios. Come to the next lesson that we want to wrap up everything and give a sum up. See you in the next lesson. 14. Project: In this past, me and RT go through four scenarios step by step and make patterns. During each scenario, you ask RT to do what you want. After you edit and make decisions about alignment colors, you will have some design that you upload them in a section of this class called Project Gallery. Your project will be added to your profile on Skillshare and also other fellow students can see them. You also please check the project and them and support each other. Let's form a community. But this is not all I want from this cast. What I want as a final project is to either make a pattern repeat on a surface and printed on a paper, so you will have a nice wrapping paper. Then take a photo of that and add that photo to project. And the project gallery or the other option is that based on the easy way that I showed you in this cat, you start your online shop. This shop should be a print on demand shop. You don't need any budget to print items and put them for sale. You just upload your design and then the platform automatically create photo of the design on products. That's so cool. For example, a backpack with your design on that. Then whenever someone order to buy that, they print and deliver the product to them. You as the designer, as the creator, receive some percentage of the product price after creating your online shop. Then add your shop web address to your project Onr share and put it on discussion board. Discussion Board is another section and skillshare platform. I want you to check your fellow students online shop and the discussion board to follow their shop. Or if they have a social media four day shop, follow them and support each other form a community of pattern designers. I hope maybe years later, one day you will remember this day and say Hedis motivated me to start my online shop. That day was the beginning of my journey to start learning many other new things. About market research, about product design, about marketing, about see campaigns and so on. Okay, now ready to hands on projects. Come to the next lesson. 15. Final Thoughts: Now, stretch your body. This was a long and complete class. Not anybody reached to this lesson. Congratulations. Because it shows that you are serious about the decisions that you make. Thank you for being with me and with RT in this class. By far you have the knowledge and skills too. Make pattern tiles, make a printable surface that is covered with pattern, and make online shop having products that they are covered with your design. Let's review what we've done together. You now know Leonardo an AI platform that can help you in creating images. It has visual features and it supports models and community fit. We made our first pattern in Nitin by Leonardo using a text called Prompt. We edited the image and an online image editor called Photop. Then we learned how to work with images tools, layers, panels, and saving files in different formats. Then we tested the pattern on a surface and made a printable file covered with that pattern. In second scenario, I gave Art a photo or an image as a Pmt. Art produced several images based on my photo and my Pmt. Then I removed the background of the image and by aligning them made a pattern type. We learned about how to scale our pattern for larger products by knowing about vector files. We also learned how to save our patterns in transparent PNG files. The other scenario was that I asked Art to produce several items in one niche, like fashion or nursery. Then I edited them and made repeatable patterns. This scenario, we learned about CMYK mode and its use for printing. We also learned about adding a harmony using adjustment panel. Then we learned where to get inspirational color palettes. And the last scenario was the special design being made with text in travel. We learned to think out of the box and be creative and always try to analyze patterns we see in our daily life. As I mentioned before, discussion board is a wonderful place to form a community together. Ask your questions there. Share your tips or what you have discovered. Share your online shop address and your business social media. And support your fellow students by answering each other's questions like and follow each other's work. There is only one le thing that is review section. Whenever you like, come back to this class and write some sentences about the takeaway you had from this class about the result, either as a project or work, or as any changes in your creativity or inspiration and learning process. I read them carefully and for sure I share those that are inspiring for other students. I wish you success in all aspects of your life. I wish you moments filled with joy, patience, and confidence. I hope I have made a cast that inspires you and even your family, to create and have made a good memory for you. Thank you. Say goodbye to you.
