1. Introduction: Hi everyone. In this course I'll teach
you the sketching of a unicorn with pencil in three
simple steps and phases. You just need a pencil
and eraser and a paper. The first step, we have the primary sketch
of the unicorn. In the second step, we create a unicorn details. In the third step, we will teach you how to
shade or color the unicorn. I hope you will
enjoy this course.
2. Primary Sketch: Hello to all of my dear friends. We are back with another
tutorial session for you. Well, this session, we are going to create a
unicorn together. This is one of the most
famous characters. All right, I'll start
with a general shape of my unicorns
body is structure. Therefore, for my unicorns body, from my horse's body, I will create the body's
structure of a horse. And then I'll continue my work. Almost start our
work with a circle. Then I will add another circle for
the front part of my body, looking like this. Then from this lower part, the circles should
be on one level, the same level actually. And from the top circle, which is more in front, should be more above. Then I would also create another circle for
my horse's back. These two circles will also
go through each other. That's it. This is the ending
part of my horse's body. Unicorns body. From the beginning of my
first circle and I go up, I'll consider a
volume over here. And then I'll just do it
again from the lower part of the circle and I bring it up with curved lines, of course. Then in this area, I'm going to create another circle like this. Then for my horses
face and it's head. I'm going to create
another circularly shaped like this in front of the
face, looking like that. This is obviously
the primary shape and sketch for our unicorn. Later we will complete it more. And because we are
creating a unicorn, we should create horn
over here for our horse. Just a general shape
will be considered now. And then later I'll come and
completed more. Come back. Actually, I will determine the placement of
my unicorns ears. Then I will determine the placement of the
legs and detail. For our horses tail, for our unicorns tail. We will create a shape on the last circle
that we've created. I can also use a
line as a guideline. Then I can connect this shape
to this guideline later. The next step, I will do this. Now I would create
some guidelines for my unicorns legs and I would also determine their
direction line. I want all fours on the ground. Therefore, I will
create the line of my legs directions downward and then I can level
them together. I'll consider my line over here. And I'll do the same
for this leg back. But actually, I can give some more shapes to
this back leg a little. I would create it like this. As you can see. This is a general shape
from my back leg. And you should consider that you should create a ground line, actually guideline
as the ground. And you should level
your legs from legs and the back legs
should be on the same line. They won't be taller or
shorter than I am going to determine the placement of
the joints on the legs. Because this actually
will help us later to create the muscles
in the right placements. And also it can make a
better shape for us. This is a general
shape for our leg. Now for these parts, I'm going to determine
the shapes and volumes. I'm going to make
them more clear. When we get to these lines that we've created for the joins, lines will get wider and thicker and when we
pass through them, they would be thinner again, we should actually
consider that therefore, ours is leg are unicorns. Legs will be created correctly. All right. I'll just do exactly the same
for this back leg. I'll determine the placement
of the joints and then I'm going to complete the lake. For these parts. Again, I'm going to
create some volume, not completely with
so much detail, but I'm going to do it because this leg
is a little bit bent. We will create its volume
looking like this. We will finish it from this
front part and we move forward to create my lines for the legs which are on
the other side of the body. The front one would be
created from here down. And I'll consider its
guideline like this. Because this leg is on the
other side of the body. It would not come down as
much as the one we have here in front because it
goes into perspective. So we are going to create
it as much as we can keep the balance of our
horse or our unicorn. Again, I created a
line as the ground. My work. I would level the legs on the other side of the body
with each other as well. Just like I did before. I'm going to create
the joints and then create muscles around them as much as it's needed for
your primary sketch. And I'll do it exactly
for the back leg, which is on the other
side of the body. I'll create my guidelines, I'll create my direction lines and I'll create the joints, obviously muscles around them. I'm actually adding the volume around these parts
looking like that. It's not really important that which leg are you
going to create first? You should just be careful that all of your forelegs
should be created correctly and they
would actually show the volumes correctly. This was our first and primary
sketch for our unicorn. And then later in next step, I'm going to add the
details to my work. King like that. I've also shaped my horses tail. Let us consider it, depending on the guideline
that we've created for detail.
3. Drawing Details: Hello again to all
of you, my friends. We're going to continue our
work on our unicorn here. In this step, I'm going to
add the details to my work. I'll start from the
head of my sketch. And I will create a
volume for to face. Because we are
creating a unicorn. We are going to create some hair for our
character. Over here. Just like that, I'm creating some hair on top of its head. It will make my work look
even more attractive. I'll do it like this
and then I will get some lines and twist them and turn them
inside each other. Then I'm going to work
on my horses horn. For this area. I will consider this
ending part of the horn. And then with some twists, I'll bring my horn upward. Actually, I'm going to show the twist in the
basis of my horn. As you can see, I went up corner race. Then again. I will
bring it to this side. As you can see, I'm creating twists over here. I go up until I get to the
ending point of the horn. Then I'm going to
create my horses ear. Actually I'm going to complete
my horse's ear like this. Then. For my horses mane, I'm going to create a
volume looking like this. I don't want to overdo it, but this will actually make your work a lot more
attractive and more cute. Then I'm going to create
several lines into direction of this main like this. Then I'm going to continue
that until I get to this part. And I will add several lines, several shifts
actually coming out. And some of them would
be shown like this. So we can show the texture
of the main, which is hair. I'm going to complete the
rest of my horse's face. I come toward the front
part of my horse's face. And then I'll create
a shape for it. And then I move toward
the inside of my face. And in this area, I'm going to create
my horse's nostrils. For my unicorns eyes. I will consider closed eyes. And just like that, I would also create some
eyelashes for my horse, for my unicorn, because
I want it to be cuter. Now I'm going to complete my horse's body and I
come down like this. I would actually complete
the volumes over here. I'm going to complete is
shapes that I've created here. And just like that they
would be more completed. Mostly go over the lines and
make them more prominent. I will complete the
legs all the way down. Okay. Now for this part, which is actually its chest and it's the bottom
part of the body. I'm going to complete it. And I will show the volume of my leg where it
connects to the body. And, and I'll create the
stomach with a shape like this. Then I'm going to complete
my volume over here, complete my shape over here. Then for behind the leg. I'll do exactly the same for the languages in this
side of the body. And it's more near to
our vision, to our site. And as I get to the
back of the leg, I'll actually move
toward the tail. Specific volume. Then I turn it. I go up and then I go on
to create my horse's back. My unicorns back,
actually unicorns are kind of forces,
fantasy ones. From behind the ear. I go down until I
reach my horse's back. I will complete my horses
mane. Just like that. Later, I'm going to add several details to
my horses tail. Just looking like this. I will consider
several lines for details just to make it more
realistic and more fun. Well, these are some of the details that I've
add to my horse. And now I'm actually going to erase these extra
lines with my eraser. I will erase this extra lines over here and
wherever it's needed, I'm going to add some more
volumes and shapes again. So don't worry, you
should just have to erase all the extra
lines and guidelines here. But when you are done, you might have got some of
your main lines accidentally, but don't worry
because we can always work on them again
and again. Alright. I am considering several
lines for my horse here, for being there on its body. Then we will also erase all these directional
lines as well. In order for our work
to be more attractive. We are going to complete
these lines completely. Sorry, we're going to erase
these lines completely. Just like that. I will erase all these
lines over here. Well, these lines
were only useful for us to get a general shape and a general direction and angle and position,
all that horse. And they should be completely erased when we want to
add details to our work and when we want to
actually develop our and get a great
outcome out of it. The most important
thing that gets us to this beautiful shape, or actually his
guidelines that we create in our prior sketch, but they should be
erased and eliminated. After we're done here. I will erase all these
lines like that easily. For the next part, I'm going to add some shading to this character just to make it
more interesting. And that's all. I have erased all the extra
lines and direction lines. This is it.
4. Coloring and Shading: Hello, My dearest friends. Alright, well, I came back and for the last part of my unicorn
working unicorn sketch, I'm going to shade it a little. I'll start with the
color number 348. And I'm going to give somewhat of a color to my unicorns body. I'm going to use only
one simple color, but if you want, you can use different
colors on your characters. Because I'm just going
to show you right now, I'm using a solo color
for the mane and tail and several lines
inside of the body. That's it. That totally depends
on your own taste. And if you didn't like that, if you like something else, you can actually apply different and more various
colors on your work. As you can see, as well as I'm shading, I'm adding this color. I mean, I'm adding the
color while shading and because I'm only
using a solo color, only one color, this would
actually be easier for me. I could also shade my unicorn is methylated and I can
use the scholar on it. Just like that. I will separate a volume and
a shape for it and color it. All right. I would also shade these
parts of my unicorn. I would also do this for detail. I will add my color. Some shadings. Here. From the top to the bottom. I'll bring my shadings
alongside with the colors. And I'm also going to
create several spots on my unicorns body just to show that it's not
in one plane color. And I'm just going to create
some or all circles or semi-circles to create
a pattern on its skin. One over here will be added. I will add several more of
them over here in these parts. Some of them would
be added here. You can actually add these circles wherever
that you need them. All right. Now that are spots has been
determined and in positioned. I'm also going to use the
same color on my legs, which are on the other side because they're on
the other side. They have been placed in the
shadows a little, therefore, I'm going to shape them to show that and also to
create a contrast. The front part of this body, which is on this side and
the other side of the body. Now I'm going to use the
color 396. This time. I will continue my
work and I will actually color inside of
these spots with this color. Then I would create some are more lines for my
urine, corns body. Don't worry about it. Now I've just colored all the spots Dad v have
created on our unicorns body. Again, I say if you want
to use different colors, you are totally free to do so. Then I'm going to add some more color to these
parts that we had before. Heron main. Alright, I'm going
to use my pencil. And this time I'm going to add some lines to my unicorns body. For example, here, I started
from my unicorns Nick. I will consider a
line for the neck and another one for beneath
my horse's face. It's actually worked ahead, connects to the neck. Then I will separate
the mouth area within line with more shadings. And then for this area, which is the front part of
my unicorn edits It's chest. I will create a shape like this. Therefore, I can show
that it has Misko and they're masculine body. I would also emphasize
on the lower lines, on the back lines more. I will bring another line
from dynamic toward the back and I turn it a little too
hard inside of the body. Then for my horse's tail, again, I'm going to create
several lines inside of it and shape them
a little bit more. And we will also emphasize on
the lines Aviv already hat. Therefore, they would come out of the shadings
that we've created. And this is actually
this contrast that makes our work brilliant. And I've emphasized on the
lines of the main as well. All right, that's it. This is our beautiful on cute unicorn which we've
created very easily.
