1. Introduction: Hello, everyone. I'm Swami Mahesh Kulkarni, and welcome to my class. I'm an artist, singer, an art educator, and a graphic designer. Than Skillshare, I have uploaded many classes related to Mandala art. And today I'm here again with a new class. In this class, you will learn how to create mandala designs using color pens. First, we'll create a circular mandala. Then we'll create some Mandala border design using two color combinations. After that, we'll create a freehand mandala. Then we will create multicolor mandala, and at the last, we'll create full page freehand mandala artwork using color pen. So that's it for the introduction. See you in my first lesson. 2. Materials Required: Hello, everyone. In many of my previous classes, I have explained in detail what is Mandala art. So you can definitely check out my previous classes as well. But before starting this class, we'll see what is Mandala art. Mandala is an ancient meditative art form in which we draw repetitive patterns inside concentric circles, often termed to as secret geometry. To create mandala designs using color pens, you will need a white plain pepper, a rounder, scale, pencil eraser, protractor. And some color pens. 3. Circular Mandala using Red Colour Pen: Hello, everyone, and welcome to the first lesson of Mandala designs using color pens. So first, we are going to create circular mandala using red color. You can take any measurements you want. After taking measurements, I'm going to divide the circle using protractor. Now I'm going to use red color pen. So in this mandala, we are going to use only one shade. This color scheme is called monochromatic color scheme, because we are using only one color which is red color. First, I'm going to create rounded petals, as you can see in the video. After that, in between each petal, I'm going to create small circle and fill out the remaining white space. Now, in these rounded petals, I'm going to draw one line and one dot and create an outline from outside to each small circle. Next, I'm going to create pointed petals. I'm also going to create these pointed petals from inside. Now after that, I'm going to create pointed petals in bigger size. Creating boundary from inside. After that, again, creating pointed petals. And now between each pointed petal, I'm going to create semicircles. I'm going to create boundary inside each semicircle. So the basic structure of our mandala design is complete. Now we are going to feel these shapes using mandala designs. For the first pointed petals, I'm going to create slanting lines. First, I'm going to divide the pointed petals in between and then creating slanting lines from right side of each petal. The thing. And on the remaining side, I'm creating one line and one dot. For the next design, again, I'm dividing the pointed petal in between. And on the left side of each petal, I'm going to create two rounded petals, one swirl shape, and small circles. And after that, I'm going to fill up the white space using red colour. On the remaining side, again, I'm creating one line and one dot. Now for the last pointed petal, I'm going to create rounded petals in between, creating boundary. And from the sides, I'm going to create swirl patterns, again, creating boundary from outside. And after that, I'm going to create three rounded petals. And in between, I'm going to create small circles and again, filling the white space. This design looks really beautiful. And for all the semicircles, I'm going to create swirl pattern in between and rounded petals, as shown in the video and filling up the white space using red colour and one line and one.in each rounded petal. So this is a floral pattern which looks really good. And that's how we have created our first Mandala design using red color pen. See you in the next lesson. 4. Mandala Border Designs: Hello, everyone, and welcome to the second lesson of Mandala designs using color pens. In this class, we are going to create some border designs using orange and blue color pens. First, I'm creating pointed petal, creating boundary inside, now in the middle creating small semicircle, and on top of that, creating three rounded petals. As shown in the video, in between, I'm creating small circles and filling the white space using orange color. Now from outside two rounded petals, I'm creating one boundary line and below that, creating swirl pattern and again in the remaining white space, creating small circles and filling up the white space using orange color. That's the design we are going to create for our first border design. Repeating the same process as you can see in the video. Here we have chosen two to three patterns which are rounded petals, semicircle, and swirl patterns, and small circles and filling up the white space is common in every design. By doing this, design looks more beautiful and elegant. Now for the second boulder design, I'm going to use blue color pen. First, I have created three pointed petals in medium shape, and on top of that, I have created small semicircles. I have created boundary inside each pattern. Now, for semicircle design, I have created one rounded petal in the middle, created boundary from outside, and on top of that, I have created, again, one rounded petal. And from both the side, only creating slanting lines. For pointed petal, I have used swirl pattern from left side, created boundary outside that swirl pattern, and again, creating slanting lines from right side. So that's our second border design. Now for third border design, you can see in the video and just follow the steps. I have created one more pointed petal using one vertical line in the middle. And for design, I have used two swirl patterns, one rounded petal, slanting lines, some small dots, and filled up the white space using orange color. Now in this pattern only, I'm going to use blue color pen. Now for this border design, we are going to use alternate color combination. I'm going to create same design, but with blue pen, and the lines which I have created between two pointed petals are of alternate color combination. So for blue pointed petal, lines are used of orange color, and for orange pointed petals, I have used blue color pen for the lines. So that's how we have created our third border design. Now, for last border design, I'm creating semicircle pattern in medium size using orange color pen, and on top of that, I'm creating pointed petals. So this design also looks very simple yet beautiful. But to add some mandala patterns, I have created some boundary from inside and outside, as you can see in the video. For pointed petals, I have just divided the pointed petal from the middle and creating slanting lines from both the sides. We have to just follow the pattern to all pointed petals as shown in the video. And for semicircle pattern, I have used very simple design here. I'm creating only swirl in the middle and one line and one dot. And that's how we have created two color combination Mandala border design using orange and blue color pens. Save in the next lesson, 5. Freehand Mandala: Hello, everyone, and welcome to the third lesson of Mandala designs using color pens. In this class, we are going to create free hand mandala using only one color pen. I'm going to use pink color pen. As we are going to create free hand mandala, obviously, we are not going to use rounder, scale or protractor. We have to just start creating mandala designs from the center of the page, as shown in the video. First, I have created pointed petals. Then I have added some rounded petals again some alternate combination of pointed petals and swirl patterns. To all these patterns, I'm adding boundary from outside. Now to fill up these patterns, I'm using one line and one dot. For pointed petal design, I'm dividing the pointed petal in between creating slanting line from one side and on the other side, only adding one line and one dot. So these are very simple patterns which you can create in free hand designs like these. For bigger pointed petals, I'm only using straight lines and slanting lines from both the sides. Again, adding some swirl patterns. So you have to keep in mind that when you try to create free hand mandala designs, you can use more patterns like swirl patterns or only line patterns, pointed petals, rounded petals. And one more important thing is repeton. Now, to give this design a floral shape, I'm adding curve lines, as you can see in the video. And between those curve lines, I'm adding some small lines in between. And that's how we have created our free hand Mandala design using pink color pen. See you in the next lesson. 6. Multicolour Mandala: Hello, everyone, and welcome to the fourth lesson of Mandala designs using color pens. In this lesson, we are going to create multicolor mandala. This is a circular mandala, so I have taken six centimeter radius. First I taking a red color pen, and I have started creating design from the bottom of the circle. As we are creating multicolor mandala, we are going to merge all the colors together after the specific pattern of design. So first, I have started by creating floral mandala patterns. Then I have added some swirl patterns, some pointed petals, some lines, some boundary designs, also some rounded petals. Some alternate combination of rounded petals and pointed petals. I'm grating all these shapes in different sizes. Mostly here I'm creating floral patterns as it will look more beautiful. Now I have taken second color, which is orange. So again, I'm creating some swirl patterns, some floral designs, some pointed petals. I'm also using only circles and filling up the white space, repeating the pattern again and again. I'm also completing the outline of that particular part of the circle. As I said before, that when we are creating these kind of mandalas, you have to repeat the pattern in this specific way so the design looks more beautiful. I also complements and balance the remaining shapes that we have created before. After that, I'm giving yellow color. So always keep in mind that whenever you are creating these kind of mandala patterns, always use more floral design because here we are creating free hand mandala. We are not creating these mandala patterns in any symmetrical shape. So here I'm using green colour. I have used more leaf pattern. I've also used some swirl patterns and pointed petals in all sizes. Again, using some rounded petals, some floral patterns. Then I have used blue colour. Here again, I'm creating some rounded petal floral design. Creating boundaries, using swirl patterns, some small circles D. Then I have used some pointed petals and created boundary from outside each petal. Then again, pounded petal flour. And after that, I'm creating design using purple shade. Here I have used more swirl patterns and rounded petals. I. Created some alternate combination of these two patterns. And at the last, I have used pink color pen. And that's how we have created circular multicolor mandala. Save in the next lesson. But the dt. 7. Full Page Mandala: Hello, everyone, and welcome to the fifth lesson of Mandala Designs using color pens. In this class, we are going to create full page free hand mandala. First I going to mark the border using black color pen. And here I'm going to use only one color, which is pink color pen. And you can start creating Mandala designs from any corner of the page. So basically, here we are creating full page mandala. So you just have to start creating mandala designs one by one. I have started this design with the swirl pattern. Then I have used some rounded petals, some floral patterns. I'm also going to use more pointed petals. Creating boundaries for every pattern. So in this class, we have learned how to create mandala designs using color pens, and we have also explored lots of color combinations of these pens. In this class, we are creating full page mandala. You can also create these kind of mandalas using multicolor option. Or you can also use two color combination or three color combination as well. M. If you want to do a monochrome color scheme like this, you can also use red colour, purple color. These are some dark color shades and these dark color shades looks really beautiful in full page mandala pattern. Now I'm creating design around this pointed petal. As you can see, I have created swirl patterns, and between each swirl pattern, I'm creating one small circle. And on top of that, I'm creating these pointed petals. I've also created boundary outside each pointed petal, and inside each pointed petal, I'm creating vertical lines. These are some floral patterns which are mostly used in full page mandala. Between each pointed petal, I have created swirl patterns. And now I'm creating rounded petals from both the sides. And in between, I'm creating one pointed petal and two rounded petals. So this pattern is looking really beautiful. In this full page mandala, you just have to keep repeating this pattern and create lots of alternate combinations, as you can see in the video. Now I'm going to show you a time lapse process of the remaining full page mandala. I want you guys to create your own mandala designs for this freehand Mandala artwork. You can definitely take the reference from the artwork that is shown in the video, but try to create your own mandala patterns and your own mandala designs. And that's how we have created full page freehand mandala using pink color pen. 8. Class project: For class project, you have to create full page free hand Mandala with me and submit your results in the project section below. I will be personally reviewing them and share my honest reviews with you. See you in the next class.
