About This Class

Hello and welcome to the course about the Lumion Realistic Render.

Lumion is 3d software that gives you a chance to create beautiful renders within reach.

Probably many times after finishing any architecture project you start to wonder how to create the final render.

How many assets do you need to buy to create an environment
and what settings chose to make a stunning render?

Nowadays thanks to Act 3d company we have Lumion which in a few steps will make most of the work alone and finally will generate amazing renders.

So if you are still interested in how to become professional in Architectural visualization this course is especially for you.

I divided this training into a few categories to introduce step-by-step how the software works.

  • First 3D space. Here we will focus on basic movement in the program and how to use
    all necessary shortcuts.

Then I will show you all tabs like:

  • Weather

  • Landscape

  • Library object and Material

We will learn how to use them and connect them.

The next step will be the rendering part where I will discover all effects that can help you make renders like a pro.

At the end, there will be practices where together we will create some project from the beginning just to the end.

1. Lumion Class1 Trailer: Hello, welcome to the curse about Lumen advancing pretty software, which gives you a chance to create beautiful renders within reach. Probably many of you after finishing the architecture project start to wonder how to create the final visualization. There are always many questions about necessary assets, how to build the environment, and what settings used to make stunning renders. Thanks to Act D company, we get Lumen, which in a few steps, makes most of the work for us without requiring any special skills. If you are still interested in how to become a professional in architectural visualization, this course is for you. Training is divided into a few categories to introduce you step by step, what the software does and how to use it at your work. First, we'll start with freed space. At this part, we'll focus on fundamental movement in the program and how to use the interface. Then we will go through all the basic tabs like weather, landscape, library, objects or materials. The next step will be the rendering part. Here we will discover all effects that can make your renders looks like a pro during the curse. There will be many practice parts where we will create some interesting projects from scratch. The curse is dedicated to both beginners users who just start to use the software for the first time, and advanced users who already know aluminum and want to learn something new. Let's start to work. 2. Why Lumion : We will start raining. We find out what the lumum is and why it is worth to use it. Lumen is software created by the Act Fred Company. The company's main office is located in Vermont in the South Netherlands. Company officially exists since 2001. The number of employees are below 50% including many department like purchasing, logistic, and programming. Lumen is rendering engine, not a modeling software. Native extension is LS eight. If we talk about import formats, then we have D E full name of this extension is Digital Assets Exchange. This exchange was originally made for Colada software that was purchased by the well known company Autodesk. Then we have B X full name is film box, also belongs to the auto desk. Then KP Freed sketch up belong to company Timber, recently very popular architecture software. Then we have DXF data exchange format. This format was created to move files from auto into free. D Studio Freed Studio is the first name of Freed Studio Max software. Both programs also belongs again to Auto desk DW G extension, which means drawing also belongs to Autodsc. There is also max extension from Fred Studio Max. We also find free DS files owned by Autodsk Studios. Autodsk Studio Dos is the first initial version of Fred Studio Max. I don't recommend to use DS extension because it's quite old format and it can generate many errors during convert. One of the last forms supported by Lumu is BG format extension created by the wavefront technologies for the programs created by this company itself called Advanced Visualizer. The last extension, the KMZ extension, that belongs to Google Earth. That's why Lumin can work with Google Earth by importing maps. When we look at competition, then we must mention about V. Ray and also Atlantis and twin motion regarding Artlantis and twin motion. They are both very close to Lumen. Personally, I don't use Atlantis or twin motion. I can compare them directly with each other. But I saw a lot of movie and photo and I observe other forums. I can only draw conclusion that they don't have so many possibilities as Lumen when it comes to the final effects and rendering. They don't have any chance with Lumon which has better engine and give more realities. Lumen is sometimes compared to U four, maybe some of you heard that for the first time. So the full name is Unreal Engine Four. Unreal Engine Four is mainly created for design of gangs. If we compare it with Lumon, we observed that UE four has better rendering engine. But it also requires a lot of knowledge how to build the scene environment and material. Lumon is very often compared with one program, well known way from house group. I'm going to use U as a main alternative. I will start with all pros of Lumon. One of the biggest advantage is that all visualization take place in real time. You can notice wind effect, animation, wave water, and what is more important, rendering is still at high level. Lumen has huge library with high quality natural object that includes a lot of different kinds of plants, trees, flowers or grass. All of them are created by well known company called Spitrie. This company many years ago designed software dedicated to three modeling. Next we have Quality Object Library. Here we have many items like tables, chairs, cars which are prepared also by second well known company called Evermotion who specialized in Fred Database of Fred Model. For Fred Studio Macs, they regularly release new high quality models or seen Formacs Lumin also allow in a very easy way to build Teran and landscape. We have the option to turn on very realistic water during the turning. I will show you it with all details. The water has wells that are constantly moving around. It's look very realistic. Personally, I don't know any other program where this effect would be so good. The next huge advantage is very easy and inteitive interface. Most of these options are available on the mind screen. What is more software gives you ability to make many difference. Animation, how this all look compared to Via. Before that, I need to start with All advantage. Probably most of you know V from photo realistic image. This makes VA as a world best known software to create amazing realities. Some photos look so amazing that it is hard to tell if they are really or made on PC. And this is what every designer expect from final render to get realistic seen. Vira works with a lot of popular software such as Fred Studio Max or Maya Sketch up R Head that was added recently. Revit has probably been cooperative cooperating with V since last year. Vi can also work as a standalone version, but it's not so popular. I don't know personally anybody who would work with it L on his blog and announced that software issues is of architecture top office. This is good news for people who still contemplate if it is worth to learn it. As I know from experience, many companies have a lot of byte software that are not used every day. However, when it comes to V, I'm pretty sure that it is used every day in every possible situation. V A allow you to use so called proxy for some as an advantage for some people as a disadvantage. The advantage of proxy is that we can insert our self, some high quality models to not overload our computer. We exchange high quality models for proxy, it's mean for some triangles that are displayed on our scene. In a simple way, then we can move around without any problems and lacks on our skin. Let's we talk about minus aluminum require high end computer worth more than $3,000 to work really smooth. Such a computer is rather called workstation instead of PC. Recommended workstation should be built with processor Intel seven or nine, with eight core as a minimum. Graphic cards below model 1080 will give us a lot of flux during work. You must remember about this before buying Lumium, you must verify if your computer will be able to work with this application. Even we have easy interface like this one in Lumium make rendering itself is quite hard and we need to learn program good enough to understand how each of settings work. It requires learning and spending a lot of amount of time when it comes to the final rendering. It's hard to get realities. In most cases, we'll have to try a lot of options to get good results. Post production will be also needed many times in Photoshop. Personally, I always try to get rendering and used post production as less as possible. During rendering, we have always two possibilities. We can render only mine object and all other elements such as three water people, the light. We can just add in Photoshop in post production. However, for me, if someone rendered the final scene and then he need to spend so much time in Photoshop to get final image, it's not a real modeling process. What we need to know more in aluminum, we have already predefined material database. However, personally I can say that they are not so useful. A lot of materials are very similar to each other. It means that we need to find and use our own materials to get good final effects. What is more, There is no photo match option. This is small problem. If you want to render some image and then paste it into other exist photo, it will be hard to compound our scene without such a tool. Lumin has a very large library when it comes to putting people into scene. Personally, I think that people in, um, the models of people are very poor quality and it is more useful to pay someone cut out PNG image in post production than we models from this program. Very often the final could look very realistic, but because of low quality models of people, it could become look more than fake. If we point minus for V, then I must warn you that ray is quite complicated. If you want to get realistic rendering, you need to practice a lot and make many projects before you will get good result. Unfortunately, don't have any predefined materials library, so you need to have your own material. You need to download them from the internet or create by yourself and spend a lot of time for. It has certainly difficult interface. It is not very intuitive, it has many taps. Very often you need to check Internet, what some of the options even mean at the beginning of your study. Rendering time of U is also problematic. In lumen, you can render final image very fast, but in a it can sometimes take many hours. In the newest release will include Cloud rendering, which help many people with Slower workstation. You send your scene to the cloud for render and after a few minutes you receive rendered image. This service is of course paid. Well, definitely could be a minus. Also. As I said before, many people like proxy and use them a lot. Personally, I don't like them because finally I don't see what, what and where you stand on the scene view doesn't has possibility to make animation himself. Animation is mainly depend from the software modeling. We are almost at the end of the presentation and now I will try to sum up everything and tell which software is best for you. Lumium versus V. Lumum will be mostly used in project with huge landscape and environment where exterior rendering is needed. We have a lot of trees in libraries, so it will be easy to build. Whole scene V will be rather used with interior rendering or exterior but with a narrow view. Lumon thanks to mass placement option will be used for urban design in very fast way. You can copy and place a lot of objects. You can place 1,000 of three in just a few steps. If we are specialized in interior design and we make rendering in different time of day, like night, sunny day, or winter will give us the best result. What I can tell you as a news that recently Corona render engine received a lot of positive feedback and became more and more popular because of quality and price. If you are a person responsible for landscape and environment and you don't like any proxyion project, the Ulumu will be your software. Without any dubbs, it is very easy to make or modify Anitarian or put additional rock or trees or grass with flowers. If we are directly working with clients and during meeting it is necessary to make some modification, then it will be quite easy to use aluminum instead of any other modeling software. Because here we have real time rendling. From the other hand, if we need high quality image for some portfolio or bocklet, then V with his Ali will be as a must in this process. If we need to speed up some process and our time is ending because of short contract, the lumin will be better solution. Thanks to his not complicated and very fast interface and rendering engine, we have already predefined components just to drag and drop to our project. Thanks to that possibility, whole design process will take much shorter than in any other software we. First, we need to find or buy good free objects and then convert them into proxy and see final result only after long time rendering. To sum up, choose Lumen. If you need speed time modeling by placing object into scene and you are involved in landscape with three plants, choose V ray if you want Modeling each object by yourself and you specialize in interior. Now we can start discover Lumen and his possibility, enjoy the curse. 3. 3D space movement: Our training will start to move in Freed space. Lumen is very specific software and has pretty unique configuration. To move camera forward or backward, you have to press on the keyboard, following buttons for forward for backward, A for left, or D for right. If we want to move up, we need to press on keyboard for down click. If we want to change the direction in which we move, then we need to hold the right mouse button, Turning the mouse in specific direction to speed up our movement. Hold the left shift button on your keyboard, then this movement will be much faster. If we press the right mouse button, we see on the right side of the screen information with keyboard shortcut while holding the Space button and moving the camera. At the same time, we have some slowing move. If we again click shift, our movement became much faster. Try these steps again by yourself before you go to the next training. 4. Weather: Let me start from describe each of these icon on the left separately. What do they do and how do they work? Interface in aluminum is one of the easiest and very well designed. Lumine options are located on left side. You can access them by clicking one of these four button. First one is responsible for the weather and we start from here. We can set the sun and choose place where it be on the sky. You can also choose from which direction it will start to shine, North, south, East or west. You have also possibility to set up time of day. You can set up night or sunny day. We have also the ability to set the amount of clouds. As you can see, if I move the slider left or right, value will change very fast. But when you hold the shift button on, keyboard values will change much slower. Shift button can be also used in all option. In the aluminum where we have such a sliding bar here I increase the amount of cloud. The sliding bar reduce or increase the value from this icon. I increase intensity of the sun. I have also possibility to choose different type of clos together with their animation. We will be back to the weather during design, some seen later. 5. Grass: When you design landscape sooner or later, you will need extra tool to put grass on your ground. When you start lumum, you will get flat. Teran. I have option to include grass in this place. If I zoom in, I can see that there is some grass already imported by myself. I can make the grass look taller or shorter. I can also change size of the single blade of grass. There is also wildness. By changing it, you will notice that split of grass on selected area will be also changed. Of course, I can change the type here. Additionally, I can add flowers size or type random size. Now I will add another type of stones. As you can see, we have stone in some place. This is a problem that the grass is quite high. We will change it a little down. There are many elements that you can add to get variety type of your final grass and make it as natural as possible. This is everything connected with the landscape. In the next lesson, will jump to the next category. 6. Height: Another option which you will use very often is landscape. I will move little camera to get better view. Landscape is used to build our territory. If we need to build any hill, we choose rice with hold the mouse button. Our ground will go up in any place. I click mouse on it, of course, I can also reduce it. I can make this heel flat at the top. This will allow me to put something on it. I can do so called ginger. This is very sharp heels or I can change sharp into smooth. There is also possibility to change size of the brush. It will allow you to draw on the bigger area, which is very useful. You have also brush speed to speed up your work. The more speed we set, the faster any modification will be done. With the smallest value, we need to click mouse button very long. With the maximum value, we get the modification in just a few seconds. Value depends from how much we need to deform our ground. If we found that final deformation is not satisfied enough, we can make it last as it was at the beginning. We can always save our land or we can lower at any land from other project. Luminu allowed to load any map downloaded from Internet, but it needs special extension, and it must be in black and white color only where white points mean higher position and black is responsible for lower point. There are a lot of programs to generate such a map. You can still use Photoshop or even Google Map. So in the next movie we'll learn other options located on the left side belong to landscape. 7. Ocean: Another powerful icon allow you to create realistic ocean. Honestly, Ocean in Lumen is one of the best I've ever seen. Water and wave quality is very good rendered. Personally, I never meet so good water in any Fredy software unless in Fred Studio Max. But as you know, it takes a lot of extra time and probably needs some additional plugins to create good shape and texture of water. After that, you have to work a lot with final rendering. When it comes to make wave animation, it will probably take a lot of time during rendering to get just a few seconds of final stage. The lumen animation take place for all the time. We have also options to change saturation of water. What is more lumen allows to change type of water, their intensive and turbulence. There is also option to change turbo deity. Water can be more dirty or more transparent. It depends what we need. There is also wind direction which change waves direction too. We can also set up wind speed and height of the ocean depending of your landscape, hate you can adjust how deep ocean will be. There could be a situation where we have a lot of hole in our ground and we want to put ocean below our ground plan. With preset color, we can change more color of our ocean. Second color option is connected with bottom of the sea. To sum up, building of the ocean in um, it is very easy. It saves our time together with good finite results. 8. Paint: Lumen also offer tool to speed up our landscape design by using brush. Painting is very flexible and in a very short way we can make any changes. We have different types of color and many materials. For example, as my basic color, I will choose some European grass. I will set it as my default color. In a result, my whole landscape will change. As a second element, I have selected grave. They simulate some stones. With my mouse and selected brush, I can put grave material, whatever I want. As you can see, I can change brush size to speed up painting. It is very useful use it as you only can. There is also tile size. This size determine the size of my texture, how would be visible on the final render. Depending on how the camera is set up, texture can be very large or very small. You must know that the size of texture depend of resolution of the image texture. With smaller resolution below two K will look not so natural as F K, but take less space on your disc, We can make a combination of many texture together to get interesting effect. You have also possibility to choose already predefined landscape with their own color, which are already placed in lumen. When we have a hills with flat top, we have possibility to change texture of cliffs. Very useful when we create a lot of mountains or peaks. As you can see, you have a lot of type of cliffs. You can choose this one depending on your landscape. We have also ability to change the tile size of our side rocks if you want. You can also turn it off or turn it on again with this arrow back. You can always undo your last action. 9. Water: Another icon when it comes to the Teran is water design. After choose water icon, then we set water area. We can also move it up and down if you want to remove it first, choose Remove icon, then we mark again area which we want to remove. We can also expand area of our existing water or move it into another place. Now the most interesting option when it comes to water, we can choose what type of water we would like to get. There is mountain water or with ice, or even tropical. Depending on what landscape we build. Then we choose correct type of sea. 10. Object: We will skip material right now, and we will jump into object tap. We will focus on one of the biggest advantage of Lumum, which will speed up our work on project. Lumum itself is a rendering engine and not allowed to design, building, or any other parts like in normal modeling software. But he has very large predefined library with different types of elements, especially nature. This is what makes lumum above the competition. If we want to insert a lot of elements at the same time, we have special tool called mass placement. As I mentioned before, library with trees is really impressive. Let's start to present it. As you can see, we have a lot of categories like natural transport. We can also insert some sound effect, very useful if we have any mating in our scene. Indoor or exterior elements. People free elements for outside, many different types of light and some special element. Of course, we can also import our own models. We are going to start with nature First we go into correct natural category. I choose the natural object. As you can see, there is a huge list of elements. We have many different types of trees or even many size of them. There is also grass or various kind of plants like flowers, cactus and also stones. Each category has individual tabs. As you can see, it is very large library. There is a lot of possibility to build many different scene. Each visualization has small men drone. To better illustrate how big component is, we choose and insert this one by second click. We insert it again. We can do it again and again. To stop inserting elements, we need to disselect all. Next advantage of lumen is the view of all elements. After we move camera away, these elements lose their quality. And thanks to that, our processor is not overloaded so much. However, if I zoom in again, elements will get a better quality again. Additionally, we have the option to move our elements into another place. First, we need to click on move object. You have also some short cut on the keyboard is for move. You will notice that each element has some point and after clicking on it by moving the mouse, it also moved the selected object. There is also displace distance how far we move three from starting point. Moreover, we can also make some adjustment of our three. It can have individual color saturation of leaves. There is option to increase the size of my tree. I can do it by moving the mouse here or by using slider. In luminus fault, all elements are placing on ground. It is very help because everything is automatically snapped to it. In many other software, you have to do it manually, which takes a lot of extra time. Even lumium do it by himself. There is still option to move all elements above or below ground. You can do it by changed value in changed had. It is useful if you want to better exposure some elements and it is not important to snap it into ground. There is standard function for rotate any items, each element has context, many. After that we get access among to transformation. We can reset the position or lock it. We can rotate object in the same direction as other selected parts. You can set the same height or choose place on ground align to align elements to each other space x, Y. To choose place using coordinate or set a randomized. I also have something like advanced selection. I can choose all identical elements. I can replace them with some new one. Or I can delay each elements individually or delay or similar. If I want to delay any object. Normally you need to choose delay. Unfortunately, in Lumi you need to choose option called trash object. That is simply removing the object from the scene. Now I'm stealing the trash object option. No matter what I choose it will be deleted. Now I can under only last action you need to remember about this because it is very easy to remove some important model with option without a possibility to under you need to exit from trash object to work as before. You can also set transparency on the tree and decide how much it would be visible. To enable or disable transparency, you need to choose this icon. When you design larger area of landscape, you would probably like to place many types of tree just in one click. Then you would like to use mass placement. When I click on mass placement, I get icon with such a pointer. Holding the left mouth button and choosing the direction I set some path On this path, all my trees will appear inside. Now I will show you how to put many different types of trees by type control on the keyboard. I can also add such a point which allow me to modify this path a bit. For example, I would like to make this path band by clicking later on particular point, I can set the corners smoothness. This will change my sharp edge into more curvature. Okay, I have my trees on path. Now the first thing I must do is set number of items. It means how much I would like to have this tree for example. I would like this path to be very dense, it will be filled in this way. I can set many different directions for my element. Randomize is something normal when you look at the real environment. I can also set a different distance on my path and randomize offset from guideline. I expand my path to get my plant in different place. I got a little space here I can add new items. Now if I click on Place Mode, I can move each tree individually. I can also modify them. There is also such an option as selecting. The selection is very handful. If I need to mark a few elements at once, I do not have to move or increase each individual. It is especially useful to copy elements or to set up different dimensions during selection. You can also set some filters which help you to choose correct elements on the scene. When I mark all filters on it, I will not be able to choose anything when I have both trees and cars. And I want to choose only cars, then I unmark this icon. Now I can select only cars, but maybe I want to select both cars and trees with mark both icon, I can select them together. At this time, my trees don't have a particular circle. All circles are blue. If I will do anything on one, it will also effect on others. Because I have all these trees selected at once. By pressing move, I can change place of whole growth. I can change size, all of them at once scale or reduce size the same with height. I can of course rotate them, but when you click rotate, as you can see, they only rotate around their own axis. What in case if I would like to turn it around one axis? In this situation, I need to create grope first. I chose my grope. Now I can rotate them. Normally, I will return to Default Settings if I'm satisfied from place where I put object, then I click for the Select All. I can also add any new item to my existing rope. I can edit my group. All the group is treat as one object. Now I have to come to play mode here. If I have already opened up my rope to move it. Now I need to check the categorical special object. Because I have filter right now, so I can't select anything. You must remember about choose correct filters. I can remove all entire Growp. We have next categories such as transport. I have ships to choose, some kind of Carter, which I can modify in the same way as previous with trees. I have here various effects. I set the effect in selected place for the volume effect. I need to set the minimum and maximum distance during animation. If we are zoomed into this place, the sound effect will be louder. It is an interesting option when it comes to creating this animation right here. Regarding the effects, we have some of fountains, fire smokes, some mist, or some falling leaves. I have various types of indoor elements, people and animation. We can set a woman who is always moving around when creating the animation. We will be able to set in which direction it should go. We also have outdoor items. We have lights which we can place in lamps models and set up direction of shine. We can set many different options for them, for instance, height, lighting power, or con angle, which determines when this light is supposed to break down where this light source is supposed to be shown. Well, if we have light bulb, then we should place the source there. We can set that, it will only be turned on, useful for night. We can set how the shadows should be calculated. We can also import here various types of elements. At the next part, we will learn something about the materials. 11. Material Introduction: I have loaded some samples. It is located in course folder. Now we will focus on material and texture. After selecting material icon and by choosing interesting texture, we can now paint with some material. Before we start, I need to inform how to prepare model for aluminum. For example, I found this model on sketch up warehouse. However, when modeling, no matter what you must remember to add solid or basic texture in program that you use for modeling, it could be any texture. It is need to separate objects from each other because we do not give any texture or even any color. Whole model in Lumen will be treated as one surface. To remind you, Lumen is only render grid, not modeling software. He's only able to replace some existing texture. We can't choose any edge or simple surface. This is what you need to remember before import any element after uploading a model into aluminum. There is also possible to update it during texturing process by clicking importing model icon. For example, if we low at our model in aluminum. And then we need to make some changes in our modeling software to add some walls or modify some detail. Or we will find that the same texture should go on an additional surface. We need to edit it in modeling software and save it in the same localization as before because he's already loaded in aluminum. To make this update, we need to click Import Model. Then the model will be updated without texturing it again. In Lumum, all changes will be automated. Recognized by Lumum, all our texture will be set automatically. This is very big advantage and make work nice, especially when we have a lot to update. After choose element again, we have five taps when it comes to the materials. The first one are natural materials like glass, soil, or rock. Second one is the type of indoor, outdoor custom. And my favorite here, we have quick access to mostly used texture. I will start from custom tap. In this type we have special material which I will show you how they work. The first one is billboard type. This one used after import photo with person or some text after a plate. Billboard material. This object will be always set perpendicular to the camera, something like auto rotate by aluminum. The second material is just simple solid color. We can exchange it for glass or advanced glass where we can change transparency. Here, we can also make element invisible very often. After import some detail, we find out that some details are not necessary. In aluminum, we can delay them, but we can set them invisible. Another texture is landscape. After typed, our model will take color the same as our landscape from here. In the landscape option. Here we have something like light map. It gives us possibility of setting our current texture when it comes to color, ambient saturation or offset. Here we can use standard material. If we use standard material, with standard material, we are able to add our own texture into aluminum. We need to add diffuse texture. It's mean our base color, normal, normal map, change our two D texture into three D, but only during rendering. There is also water material, it will allow you to change any parts into the water. The last material type is waterfall. It will change any wall into water fall. On the next topic, I will focus on standard material and on texturing our model. 12. Material Mapping: In this, I will just put material in my scene here. I would like to be dot, well, you always have to choose your own material, the best. With high resolution, with four K as a minimum, they are definitely the best in rendering results. Here are some root, this element I would like to be as a water. On this modern there is no bottom. You can see that vegetation is inside. This is why I put the bottom little lower. Thanks to this, you will not see these plants anymore. Will give a glass here and some reflection opacity for transparent. And the second side of glass glossiness to make this element frostiness, to hide elements inside relief. And of course scale, let's be darker, the element will be plastic. One, well we've got all the material, Remember to click safe. Otherwise, all our materials will be removed. Now we are going to take a rendering, but we'll talk about it in next part. 13. Material options: I will put some wood texture. To add some additionality option, I need to double click on my material. Here I can change diffuse map or add some normal maps. I can also improve the color gloss is for glow. Reflective is responsible for reflection. More we put, the more is reflected by texture relief. For material roughness, scale for reciz, texture position to move texture in different axis orientation. For horizontal and vertical position. Bank for rotating transparency. If I want to make them more visible or invisible emissive for light saturation, color specular here is the flicker reduction very useful because often happens that I have a surface that includes some other smaller surface inside with different texture. As we can see with the camera rotating, this material just overlap. This is why we need to use flicker reduction. Flicker make that one of this material will be visible and second will disappear. We have two more material type I will low ad a black and white map. In most software, if we use special texture, black color is treat as invisible and white is four visible area. We can set this black and white texture as a standard or as an alpha clip object. With this option, all black will become transparent. All white will be only visible. Very useful to make. For example, grid with lip reduction, we can make invisible bottom or on the top. Or we can use color of map alpha emissive, where white will be as emissive and black will be treated as a blank. We always have the option to copy any material and paste them into existing on. Here is also options which make our texture look like damage by nature and we decide how it can change. For example, it can be more gold or wood or stone. Depending on what kind of material we have, we choose correct interaction. Now we have very interesting option called edges. As you know in everyday life, all elements that surround us, in fact, they do not have sharp edge, but it's somewhere always rounded. From the technical point of view, everything has rounded edge, not sharp. When modeling, often we forgot about it or we bypass it. If we design something, mostly we put onto the drawing that all sharp edge must be rounded on the machine. But finally, Freedom Moonder has sharp edge which is visible on final render and make our sin more fake lumin can help us with that by making our sharp edge more rounded. Then in the rendering, you can see that they have some small radius. I recommend always use this function for each element even if radius will be very small. Here we can add some leaves on wall, caved Iv. Very interesting function. With good result. I will show you how it's work. I will take one of outdoor material. Here I would like to make some V. On the wall, you can see effects appear very quickly. 14. Rendering Effect: This part I'm going to tell you about rendering. In rendering tap, we have three options to choose. Make a photo, rendering a movie, and make panorama. Let's start from taking a photo. First we need to set up camera. We set up camera with keyboard in the same way as we move in free. Displace left, right, top down. Here we can click for length. It is some of our perspective. When we set correct position, we click Store Camera. This is our render scene. If we want to go back to design again, we just need to click back on Build. Now we can modify again our scene. I want to go back to the photo by double clicking on this camera. And I'm going back to my settings. The first thing to do is choose the right style of our rendering. We have to choose custom style. Then we need to set up everything by ourselves or type one of preset made by Lumen. Realistic interior down daytime with full brightness, night and overcast with some mist color sketch which is more colorful. And there is also some water color, something like the mosaic. I will choose daytime. The next element is choosing some addition effect. This is place where we need to make a lot of tests to get good result. Because there are a lot of type of effects, depending on how we set all of them together, we will get more realism or not. The first step is light and shadow. We have here the shadow reflection, Skylight for natural light, hyper light for some back light. Global illumination for light on whole scene sun and volumetric sunline. How should the race go in scene Moon if we plan to do scene at night? When it comes to the camera, here are some typical effect like exposure for brightness here to make it more perspective of the view. Motion, blur to blur elements in motion. Deep field lens flow for reflection to view through some glass fish. I like in Gopro and tilt shift. Next we have some animation like mass movement. There are many for animation here. Sky and cloud mainly options related to cloud on the sky, fog and raining. Volume cloud, how far the cloud will be look like here effect for airplane on the sky. Snow, wind clouds on the horizon, or autumn colors. There are all elements similar to filters that will make our scene look like drawn on paper effect used for color adjustment. Here we can also choose, in addition, different types of sound when it comes to lighting materials and water. Here are some effects how it would be without materials. Here we have rays of light, image overlay or settings for color correction. As you can see, there is a lot of filters and settings. You need to spend some time and try all of them in work. I will show you how I use them for our work. We will see how it's final render. 15. Rendering: For my rendering, I have used daytime as a main setting. I make this with full light. So the first effect is fog. To hide everything far away, I set up dropping and brightness. For mist, I always use two point perspective. It will change. Angle of camera models are always vertically positioned. Sun, he said, paramets like sky and clouds. Just in my case, I don't have many clouds at all sharpen for better view edges exposure at 0.5 If you put too much here, you will get over exposure. So be careful, color correction and temperature is supposed to be more blue or more brighter. Tint for more green color, vibrance, brightness and contrast saturation, gamma wave limit low. And had reflection I mostly set up for hate. Now I will set up place where reflection should appear. In my case, I would definitely like it to be here on the windows, this element would be reflect all objects, hyper light. I sat for 11.2 Skylight. There is also a second tab where we can adjust shadows. Mostly I use sharp types, chromatic aberration for some view effect and depot field. If object is far away, then it will be more blurry. Now it is a good time to render our work. You have to choose current shot quality as a print. In addition, we have photo St if we want, for example, all our photos can be printed. We are trying to render depending on what kind of quality we choose. Time render will be different, that's how it looked like. Finally, what we can improve for the next rendering. Reflect here as well. Trees on the water and fix reflect in Windows. Texture for Windows mostly depends if we want to hide or show what is behind them. Well, that's it when it comes to renderings here, again, render seen with some improvements. I have changed water in the pool, I changed the window texture and I removed the tree here which was too far and brought it too much. I move little camera and I have rendered scene with highest resolution, 7,608 to 4,320 This is what renderings look like, made in Lumon and here eventually post production in Photoshop. As you can see, the effect can be very interesting. And very quickly we have more elements to learn. Next one, we will be making of animation in Lumia. At the end, I will show you how to make one more scene, but mainly we will focus on creating landscape. 16. Animation: Now we are going to learn how to do animationing in lumen. It is not so intuitive and don't scir, if it will not work at the beginning, it takes some time and practice to do it well. We will start with import our sample model. As you can see, manipulation point is far away. This happened when compass or center access in modeling software. It is also in wrong position or place. The best way is to modify and move this point in modeling software before we import it into alum. As I mentioned many times before, Lumion is not a modelic software. It doesn't have any option to move this point regarding animation in the Lumion, they can be divided in few types. Three of them are mostly used in many presentation. To start animation, we need to jump. Here. We chose recording tab and it works the same way as taking a photo. We start from the first scene. Second one, I said time for whole animation, for example, 5 seconds. I accept it. This is our first basic animation. Here we can see typically move with camera. I can edit this clip, render it, or delayed by double pressing on it if I would like to edit it. This is what I need to do here is the first photo, then it is the second one I would like to have also the third one. Unfortunately, I can't undo it. This one will be my second photo and then third one, as usually I accept and now my animation look like this. 17. AnimationEffect: Now I will show you how all the others effect works. We are clicking again, take a photo. Let's start from advance. It's the same as standard, but additionally you can add frame key to better control your timeline. For better adjust move of any elements near click plane. We can use it in the following situation. I have a tree here at the moment it became an issue, My camera exactly in this view, but it's useful from either one. I don't want to remove it, but I would like to show a whole house and temporarily hide the tree. To do that I need to click animation and choose near clear plan. I'm moving him. After a few seconds, the tree just disappear, but only for this animation. Unfortunately, you have to be careful because it's also cuts through our house and all other objects. You have to move it into correct place. I can create a keyframe depending on the particular second, I will move this clip plane. The next one is Variation Control. Regarding variation control, I will show you how it work with some example. I have a house here and there are some options called at variation. I can upload here some other model or the same but with different configuration. Later by changing to 123 or four, my present model will be automatically replaced by other specified before. During creating the animation, I click Edit and I choose my house here again, also here I choose which variation I want. I can also a key frame. After each key frame, my house will be replaced with different variation. Next one is time warp. It will put animals into the scene. It will be birds, I will take it a little higher. Birds will fly over and over again. Birds are flying around at the same point. There could be a situation where you need to move camera, for example. There will be a second photo here in this place. It might turn out that the birds will not be visible at all because they are a cycle of movement begin in some other side. Then I have the possibility here that I can determinate myself in which minute or in which second of my animation birds should be located. Time warp give you more control over each animation. The slider is only for object from Lumen library, but this one is dedicated for all imported object. Lumen has possibility to import animation that were made in modelic software like for example three D Studio Max. Next one is effect call visibility. We have standard layer like in many other software, we can add something to the layer. For example, we can select everything that is in a given layer. Or we can add elements to the new layer. Let's do it. We can mark which element should be visible. We will make such an example. Let's simple a couple of trees into first layer, then I would like to move them to the next layer. I can select them and click on second layer and choose Move Selection to layer two. At this point, each time I remove the layer one, my trees will be removed. Also, I can also make some animation for my layers and decide when them will be visible on my animation. I do such animation in which for example here in the first second my second layer just disappear. This how it's work. The sky drop effect is for move object down during belt and animate light controls. To use animate light controls option Here we will add some light to the scene. I have already some lighting. We will make a new record. There is light effect animation. Light control. I choose my light, I can modify here its color. I will create key frame, I change to such a color. Now with the animation, the color of my light will change. I will describe one more effect called shift, which is quite hard to understand. We are now making new animation. We'll do a photo and take a photo also here. Very often there is such a til shift effect that all components besides such above and below are blurred. It will help to focus our eye on specific place or object without amount value. You can decide where blurred will start. You can move them up and down or make it more sharp or more gentle. Now my animation look like this. 18. Drop: Now I will show you second type of animation which is also very popular in this effect. Each element of our model will drop down from the sky and will simulate building process. The effect is quite interesting, but it takes some time to make it in a proper way. As you can see, my model is to treat by lumen as a one part. I cannot choose individual elements, which is problematic right now. I need back to my modeling software again and explode my house for many different parts. Then I need to save it as a separately file on my PC. After that, I need to import all file into my lumen sin part by part. I already made it so you can also import them into aluminum. All parts are located in curse folder. Let's start with importing them all. As you can see, I also need to modify Compass in Sketch Up to have this point closer. It's easier for me to manipulate with him. I have now all my individual elements loaded. Now there is other problem because we need to mount them altogether. Normally, we have two options to do this incorrect way. We can just manually try to fit them all. Probably this method will be very time consumpting and we'll finish with failure because made it manually will not be accurate. I will show you second method that everyone used. As you can see, I did a small cube here before. On each part in my modeling software, each element has its own cube. What is more compass is also in the same position for all of them. As you can see, if I move any item I need to grab, my cube cube must be done in our modelic software as I mentioned before, to mount all of them together, I will just join them all with right context money. I select all my parts, I click the context money for additional tools. Then I select my house because it will be my base transformation align and it's done. Then I click the select All. At this moment, all my parts have been mounted as I expect. All cubes are at the same place. Cubes are small enough and they will not be visible on rendering. I can also mark them with blank material. We are ready to begin our drop effect process. We are going into movie and then record. Take a photo, Another, take a photo, my animation looks like this. As you can see, animation is not smooth enough. Unfortunately, I can see here that there is probably missing one photo here. We need to insert new photo. We will make a house from this side. My animation goes here around this house, which is also not so smooth. It looks like someone was moving camera up and down with hand to fix it, we can add some more effect. I will add one effect. Well here we have the scene and animation tab. And we choose camera. I set effect called handheld camera. The effect make transition of the camera more smooth. There are also different options when it comes to the camera itself. Now I chose look at fixed point. I will switch to one, I will choose Centerpoint, and let we taste our animation. Now as you can see, this movement is now much smoother. This is because camera is watching for all the time at one point. Now I will add another effect when it comes to the animation, and it's going to be sky drop. At this point, I have to choose which element I want to drop as a first. But how to choose correct part if all of them are at the same place, That's what I need to use. Arrow up or down on keyboard. Choose those elements which you want to be the first to help us. Lumion illuminate some parts. The first one will be ground, then let it be bottom of the pool. Then the water next. Outside furniture, lamps for the pool, then my interior furniture at the end walls. My animation takes exactly 19 seconds. So we can change it in option now, depending on the setting of duration and offset animation will be spread in time in different ways. My movie takes 15 seconds, however, the whole animation takes only 10 seconds. I will make some modification and change here into 1.5 second offset, of course, which mean distance from each other, parts that are supposed to fall down. Everything falls a bit too fast. We extend it to 4 seconds with greater distance between them. And duration of whole will take, for example, 13 seconds. I have an even greater distance when you input wrong value in settings, your animation will finish before any element drop down. Now it should be correct. This is how my animation look like. 19. Move: Now the third type of animation is used to move individual object. I will put this man here. I will try to make him move from left side to the right. Go into animation. I'm start recording, take a photo, go back. Well, here I go into the type of animation scene and I have to option called move. I have to choose how I want to move my object. I can rotate it or increase its size. I can rotate it vertically or horizontally. But now I will choose move. I'm moving him by exactly 742 millimeters. I click back. Now this is my whole animation. It takes only 2 seconds. I can increase them up to 10 seconds. Then this man will go much longer. Now at the end he will be turning back. Additionally, we have also option to mass move effect that will help us to move more enments. At the same time we'll put cars as an example. Now I'm going to create new animation. I'm going to Efi. Now I have the same option as mass placement. I click on my path. Of course I can add different points to bend my path, as well as in mass placement that my path will be. With such a wave. I can set here also speed of cars here. I can set different directions, for example, together in the same or different for each one. Let's see how our animation works. Our cars has been automatically rotated. One of car doesn't move. This is because he's not placed on my path. I need to resize my path to include all cars inside. Now we have final effects. This is very interesting and des effect usually it is used to create for example round about city visualization or motorway. 20. Special options: The last step to discuss our special effects, they are located in utility tab next to light. The first one is area light, which is used to make larger area of light in some place if needed. Sometimes it can also work as portal light. That is very often used if we want to render some interior and we need to put more light into buildings, then we put portal light behind. Window. Omnilight is a point light area, mini put in bulbs. In utilities, we can add text to our scene. Here we add some words. Depending how far I move camera, the text will be smaller or larger. Text is located in the middle of the circle. We can set that. He will also appear from this place. The closer I move to him, he becomes just bigger. I can set up some frames. Orientation, how it should be directed and height of the text. The next effect is reflection control, which gives you ability to adjust reflection on any object. We put this ball into scene. This ball is something like reflection and meter. It depends where you put the ball. Then reflection will be different on any object measure effect, so we can make some measure of our object or distance grid. It's good to move some elements from point to point. In project units are set to 1 meter. The distance between this point will be exactly 1 meter. Plane is for making section of building. I will show you how to make animation with section first take a photo. Now we add some effect. We will move section plane, we have an effect with section. We can see all of the room and all objects that are inside. That's all when it comes to the rest of the effects.
