Journey

My grandfather encouraged us to paint Goddess Laxmi on the wall during Diwali; this is my oldest memory of my creative self. I never dreamt of being an artist, but as a kid, I was always inclined toward painting and even participated in various school-level competitions. I'm from Patna, India, and almost every child goes for engineering or medical. I was no different. I completed my engineering in Information technology in Indore and moved to Pune to work as a software engineer. I worked in top IT companies for a decade, and suddenly, the forgotten love for art came back, searching for me. I started my journey as an artist in early 2019 and eventually became a full-time artist in 2022.

1. Intro: It is one of those places where nature gets to paint its own verse on its own canvas. Words can never do justice to the beauty of this lake called as Pongg Lake situated in Ladak India. I couldn't resist painting this beauty. I thought of sharing with you guys as well. This is the painting which we will be doing. Hello, friends. My name is Mohen Sina, and I'm an crelic artist Based India. I mostly do landscape painting and animals and bird portrait painting. Many of you know me as Moheni Art Gallery from my Instagram account. First, we'll discuss about the materials, which will be required for the painting. Then we'll discuss about the colors. Then comes the blocking of the background, then cloud making, cloud detailing everything from scratch. Then comes the beautiful mountain detailing everything in detail, step by step, then the lake painting. Then comes the flag painting. So let's start with this beautiful painting. 2. Materials Needed: Let's discuss about the material. These are all the brands, which I mostly use inser Newton, amln and liquidx. All these brands I mostly use and the masking tape also we need for this. So let's discuss about the colors which we will be needing. First, the black color, blue color for the sky, titanium white, for the clouds, the cobalt teal, for the water part. Then comes the Rosanna. For the mountains, then fluorescent red for these flags, permanent green again for flax, cadmium yellow, and then cadmium orange for the mountains. All these colors which we'll be needing for the paintings. You can use any brand of colors, whichever you have. Now let's talk about the brushes. These are the brushes. One is the smaller size brush, bigger size brush, then the round brush, This is the round brush which I'm using here, then the rigger brush for detailing Bristol flat brush for giving the textures. Again, this felt brush for the clouds and this fan brush again, Bristol for all the detailings. Apart from that, we will be needing palette, then water container, washing your brushes, then tissue paper and pencil for drawing. 3. Blocking: Hello, all and welcome to our new class. This is my canvas, which I've already primed with Gesso, two, three times, and this is eight by eight inch size canvas. Let's first do some little drawing and then we'll start with the painting. This is three is two one wheel divide. One part we'll just create a straight line, and then we'll create the mountains. Little bit below from the center, we'll draw the line. Okay. I'm doing very light sketch. So when you are also drawing, try to do a very light sketch of it so that the dust of the pencil marks does not mix with the colors because when it mixes with the colors, it becomes Grace. Or we'll draw the mountains, some bigger and some small mountain mix. This is actually a place in India, called as a Dak, which I'm drawing over here. It's a very beautiful place, and this is full of mountains and rivers and lakes. That's what I'm painting over here. First, I'm just drawing the mountains, some high rise mountains, some backside mountains. Just above there are mountains, then the clouds and then there is a lake side, which has a pathway over there. So a little bit of sketching, not much, the clouds I'm not drawing because when we'll do the blocking, it will be removed, so there's no need of drawing the clouds because we'll paint this with blue, and when we'll do the blocking, this whole diagram will vanish. That's why I'm not drawing the clouds. First, I will paint it with blue and then we'll do the drawing. Simple sketch. It is of square size. You can take rectangle size also. It depends upon your choice, you can do it on paper, you can do it on anything. These are two colors which I'm using nzorblue and titanium white. Both are from Benzer and Newton. Brand. I'll just do the first blocking part, that is the background blocking of the sky first, and here is my flat brush. Before using the color, just try to dip the brush in water and then use the color. I'm just taking the colors mixing a little bit of white to make it a little more opaque the color because white is quite opaque color. I'm just trying to mix it is a dark color, but I'm just adding a bit of white to it. If you don't have nzor blue, you can use cerliu blue also. I cerliu blue, just add a little bit of prussian blue to make this color, and it will be fine. I'm just blocking it with my flat brush. The size of the brush depends upon the size of your canvas or the paper, whichever you are using. If your size of the canvas is too big, then use one or two inch brushes. If it is small, depending upon the size, here I'm using eight number brush. It all depends upon the size of your paper or canvas which you are using the size of the brush. Just doing the first layer of blocking in simple horizontal manner. First blocking will not give that smooth finish. We'll do at least one or two more blocking so that it gives a nice finish to the background. I currently now blocking the colors on the canvas. Take your own time and do it slowly and enjoy the process of this colorful painting, and the end result will be very beautiful, if you'll follow each and every process of mine. Just I'm slowly blocking the whole background with the same color. I haven't changed the color from dark to light. It's almost same color, which I have used over here. It's dark because it will give a nice contrast between dark and light color. Below is the lighter mountains. So that's why I've created darker clouds darker sky color and then we'll draw the clouds also. Try to cover each and every portion of the canvas so that nothing is left. You can also do at the sides of the canvas also because mine is the stretched canvas. So if you want, you can do it on the sides of the canvas as well. Now I've added a few more colors that is cobaltlethn rosena and red. These are the colors which I will be using here. First, let's block in the mountains. I'm here using my flat brush, but it is of smaller size so that I can cover the mountains. I'm just mixing this raciena with this white mix because these are lighter shade mountains. Just applying from the top. I can still see that this blue part is still wet. I'll stop doing that area because it will mix with blue and it will turn into completely different color, which I don't want it to be. I will stop doing first the mountains and then we'll start with the below part because it is still wet, it's not dry because if it'll go into that blue part, it will turn into greenish color. Now let's do this lake part, which is there. Now cobalt teal, which I'm using here is and I'll just apply to this part, which is the water part, and I'll just mix a little bit white to make it a little lighter color. Just blocking this whole part. It's a very beautiful color which comes up. If you don't have these colors, you can always make this color by mixing blue and green. When you mix a cerium blue or brilliant blue with a little bit of green, this color will come up. This is the way blue part should be more and green part should be less. Now here this is a little bit grayish so that I'm adding little black to it to make it a little grayish color. You can see the different forms of color you can make with just one simple color. Here it is a little bit grayish and the upper part is a little bit more of a cobalt color. Color mixing is also very important thing when it comes to acrylic because if you know color mixing, you can do any painting. You should know which color to use where when you are looking at a scenery or something. It comes with practice, and if you'll practice it, you will do more of R&D then of course, you'll get it, what colors to use when. I'm just blocking the part, which is the lake part. This is the first blocking, which I'm doing here. And after that, we'll do the next blocking of the mountains and then of the area, the pathway, which is there. Okay. Do it slowly, take your own time and do the entire painting. Because everything takes time. If you'll do it in a hurry, it will not give that result which you want. Now let's do this part, which is the side part of the lake. I'm just making it a little grayish color and I'll just block in this part. Just blocking that pathway, which is there. A. Whichever brush is comfortable for you here I'm doing flat brush. You can take round brush also to block in this because we don't want smooth finish off this pathway because there will be texture, so it's fine if it is not smooth. You can use any brush, whichever you feel like, whiever you are comfortable with. Finally, our lower blocking is done, then we'll do with the mountains. Oh. 4. Blocking Of Mountains: So now let's do this mountains. Now here, I'm using my round brush and I'm just taking white because it has been finished, and then we'll start painting. Just white, this Rociana a little bit of very little amount of black you have to add. It is a little lighter color, so more white should be there. Let's start with first the blocking. I'll just take a little orange inside it. Just adding a bit of orange. This is cadmium orange, which I'm using here. Just blocking it with lighter color, then light it is between it is more and then light it is a version of like that. But first time just blocking it with one color. In order to make it dark, you have to add more of orange and more of this raciana. This is a color which is more like muted type. You can say it is like a tan color just coming up. Simply I'm just using my round brush and I'm just giving a nice blend to the colors. Again, I'm just taking this rosena and a little bit of orange white mix. It will give more like an earthy texture to it and a little bit of black to give a more darker shade. Above it is a little lighter than darker than more lighter shade. This is the thing which we'll be doing. Just blocking first the mountains, and then we'll do the detailings. Little lighter shade, I'm just adding white to it. On my brush, there are lots of colors, so I'm just taking white and I'm just blocking the rest of the area, which is below because the below area is a little lighter in shade. So here why I'm using the round brushes because with round brush, you can easily blend the colors when you have to move it like in a flow. It's not like straight painting. It's like directions, like a slanting movement of the brushes there so that it gives an effect of the mountains like the mountains are very slanting. I'm trying to give that effect also. That's why I've used here the round brush. Now, this area is quite lighter in color. So my color is still wet, so I'm just applying wide to it to make it more light. And this white will mix to this brown color and it will create some lighter effect of that color. Just need to keep in mind that whenever we are blending two colors, both the color has to be wet. Otherwise, it will not blend. If you're blending any two colors and it is not coming up perfectly, then again, apply that color and try to blend it because blending will not happen if one of the color has dried up. Now I'll do the other mountains as well. So I'm just adding a little bit of black and then I'm just putting it because the upper area is quite dark, which is the sider part of the area. Actually, it is quite bluish in shade. I will just add a little bit of black and a little blue also to it to make it a more darker shade. I'm just covering the upper part. This is the time when we can just give a shape to the mountains and whatever shape you want to give here, you can just give it because currently we are just doing the blocking part. The detailing is still left for it. I'm just trying to give a little darker shade on the top. You can see I've just added a little dark shade on the top, and there is more darker shade on the corners as well, which we'll apply it later. Let's first do the other mountains. Now these mountains are a little lighter in shade, the middle one, and the side one is it is more brownish in color. Just applying the color with the same round brush. Do it very carefully so that the color does not go inside that river part, river or lake, whatever you want to say it. It's actually a lake which is in a Dak, which is there and it's quite like this color. If you have visited it there, then you must have seen this type of view which is there in that place. I've just covered this part with the nice shade of colors. This is just one color which I have added. I haven't applied different shades of the colors. Blocking it, and then we'll do the middle part. The middle part is more whitish. That means it is more lighter in color. I'm adding more white and just applying first especially the lower part is more lighter in color. First, I'm trying to give it a little shape to the mountains by adding different colors to it, by adding more white somewhere black, more. Different shades I'm creating. I'm trying to create. This is a quite light color, and I'm adding more white to it. Down part is light and the above part is. This is a contrast which is there in between these two mountains. This is quite light color. Light, how you can prepare just by adding more of white to it. And the darker one, if you'll add more of black, then it will be a darker color. Like that, we have to distinguish between the colors. Lighter color means more white, and if we want darker color, that means we have to add more of black to it. Simply just blocking in first the lighter part and then we'll do the above the darker one. First, I'm just outlining with the darker color. And then I will block in above mountain and also I'll give the shape to it while painting. Just applying on top of it, Similarly, the other mountains also, I will do with the same technique. P blocking I'm doing over here above is dark and the below is light. This is it, which I'm trying to do over here. This is little grayish, I'm just adding a little black to it to make it a little dark, the behind one. Finally, the blocking is complete and then we'll do the second blocking and then the mountains, then the sky, the blots left. 5. Shaping the Clouds: Welcome back. Now my colors has almost dried up completely. You can touch your hand and can feel. Now let's do one more blocking with same color that is winds blue and white so that it gives a nice smooth finish to the background. I'm just adding one more layer of the same color. Whenever you have to do a finished painting, you should always try to do at least two of the background so that gives a nice smooth finish to the painting. Use thick colors so that the colors don't dry too fast. Okay. And I'm just applying the same same layer of color and you will see how smooth this second coat will come up when you'll apply it. Always try to apply two coats of it when you are doing such type of painting, especially on the canvas. This is the final coat which I'm applying, so I'll apply it very carefully so that it doesn't go inside the mountain part, and then we'll start creating the clouds. Finally, almost the blocking is done, just a few more corners are left and we are good to go with the second layer of blocking of the sky. You can see I have almost done the blocking part. Just a few corners are left, which I'll try to block in nicely. There are no corners left. Do it slowly and take your time. And the second blocking is done. Now what I will do is I'll wait for it to dry before I start drawing the clouds because we cannot paint it on the wet canvas. I'll wait for it to dry. Once it has dried up, then we'll start doing the cloud part. I'm just fixing all the corners before starting with the clouds so that there are no corners left anywhere. You can see how nicely the background has come up. Now we'll wait for it to dry and then we'll start with the cloud part. We'll wait. Now my clouds are ready to be drawn over here. It's completely dry now, and now we can start with the drawing part. First, for the drawing, I'll use my liner brush to draw it, and then we'll fill in the colors. I'll first draw I'll take my rigger brush, and I'll just draw the clouds. So you can draw it with pencil, but I prefer it drawing with the same color, which I will be using later. So because white you can easily remove by applying the same base color. So I'm just using this white color for drawing the the shape of the clouds. First, I will draw the shapes and then I will block in these clouds with the lighter blue color. Just creating the shapes, random shapes, actually this sky is filled with beautiful clouds and you will see magical clouds above these mountains. I'm just trying to give a shape to it and then we'll start with the blocking of clouds. Just with a nice thin color, you can just outline this whole thing. Even if there's a mistake in cloud formation, it's fine because clouds are of different shapes. It doesn't matter if the shape changes, but yes, a little bit of shape changing is fine. You can see I've just drawn the clouds here and there. It's filled with clouds. Now we'll do the blocking of the clouds, which is of lighter color of blue. It will be more of white and less of blue. Here I will be using my filbert brush of size two. This is a very good brush for creating the clouds. You can see there's a roundness on the top of this. It gives a nice round texture to the clouds. But before that, I'll just add a little bit of blue and white mix and I'll start blocking it first. Just with moving the brush in a circular motion, I'm just filling the entire shape, and I'm also covering that line which I have drawn because I don't want to show the lines which I have drawn for the cloud. So I'm just covering it with the same color. Just simple blocking, and this is the time when you can just create shapes also, different shapes you want, different changes in shapes you want, you can add just over here by just filling this color up. I'm just filling the color and giving a more detailed shape to it. Here more white is there and very little amount of blue is there. This is the first layer of color which I'm adding to the clouds, then we'll create the details of the clouds. Very simple process, very simple technique, blocking it up slowly. Just enjoy the process of blocking. Whenever your brush becomes a little sticky, just wash off your brush and then again add the colors. Sometimes it happens that the brushes become sticky when you do it for a longer period of time. Just wash off your brush and do it again. This is whole blocking of the clouds which we have done, and now we will be doing the cloud detailing. This will also dry up and then we'll start with the cloud detailing. M. 6. Clouds Detailing: Now, let's start with the clouds detailing. Here we'll only use white and this filbert brush for the cloud detailings. Try to use smaller size filber brush, either size one or size two. This is size two which I'm using over here. I'm just taking a little bit of this color. I've just wet my brush, remove xs of water, and I'm just directly using this white color. Take very little amount of color. Then just wipe it off with your brush with your cloth and then try to smudge that color without touching that edge. The edge should be in the shape. And should not be removed. Then again, take small amount of color and then again give a shape of a semicircle or something like a quantor without disturbing the shape, remove excess of color and just smudge the entire color, which is below. This is how the process is, which we'll be doing the more quantors you will create, the more beautiful these clouds will look. You can see I'm just creating small quantors and I'm just smudging it in a circular motion. This will give a very realistic look to the clouds actually. Just smudge it. First give the shape accordingly and then remove excess of color on your brush and then again, smudge the colors. This is how the whole process will go. Small small small shapes that is half circular shapes. I'm creating some big, some are small, and I'm just smudging the extra color which is below so that you can see that there are few onters in between also. When you smudge it, you can see the glazing effect that is the bluish effect is also coming from below. It is not getting covered entirely, and the edge is also there properly. This is how we create clouds like fluffy clouds. It's a little tricky process, but it needs practice. So I have tried my best to show you how you can create a particular cloud, but I hope you will get it. And if you want some extra special video for this for special class for this, this, then do let me know. I will try to create a special class for just the cloud effect. Slowly, slowly, you have to progress, take your time. In this process, the brush becomes sticky because we have to use a dry brush, dry brush in this sense. I have dipped the brush in water, remove excess of water by wiping it with the cloth, and then I'm using the brush. So there's no water on my brush. Is my brush is wet, but it is not completely wet. This is how you have to use your brush. Now I'm starting the other cloud which is just giving a little shape to this cloud. Again, I'm smudging it. This is take very small amount of color just on the edge of your brush. Don't take too much color. Otherwise, this cloud formation will not take place. Take very small amount of color, create small contras and first try to give the shape and then remove exes of color and then start blending it Blending or smudging it. The right quantity of color is very important, especially in the case of clouds. You have to take very less amount of color on your brush without and remove s of color and then smudge and don't disturb the edge of the shape which you have given. Otherwise, that shape will not come up. Just giving a little shape to this and then removing xes of white and just smudging it, the lower portion. This is how we create beautiful clouds and we'll do for all of them. Take your own time and do it slowly. I've just make it zoomed in a little so that you can see it clearly how these shapes are being formed. You can see I'm just creating shapes and then smudging the lower portion of white. I'm not taking extra colors. Take a very small amount of color, remove excess of white, wiping out your brushes and just smudge it below. So this is how we have to do. In different directions, you can create the Qantas. You can see have create one in light, left, top, back. It's different directions and different sizes of quants, you have to create, don't create just one pattern. Otherwise, it will look like one pattern cloud. Create different some are big, some are small, some are tall. Different sizes of quants you have to create to make this cloud formation. I know it's not easy, but it's nothing is possible if you dry and practice it. Everything is possible, if you'll practice it. Just taking again, white color and just blocking the above small clouds moving in the circle of motion, take very less amount of color. Brush should be dry in the sense that you have to wipe the entire water from your brush, and then you have to use your brush. This is the dry technique which I'm telling to use over here. Very little cloud, you have to do it like that only. This part of cloud I have already done, my brush has become sticky, I'll just wash it off completely, remove exes of water, and then again, I will use the same brush. So this is a very good brush, and if you don't have to bruh, you can use it with the round brush also. First, you have to create the shape with the round brush and then you can smudge it. But with this brush, it is quite easy to create the shape because it is already in the half circular shape above. So it's quite easy to create the shapes of the clouds. So it's better to use this type of brush rather than the round brush for creating especially the clouds. If you're still struggling with the cloud formations, do let me know, I'll create a separate class for this so that you can fully understand how we can create some beautiful clouds of different patterns. This is one of them. This is the fluffy clouds which I'm creating. There are different types of clouds which are there, which you can create a realistic cloud. I really enjoy drawing clouds very much. I love drawing clouds, especially painting these fluffy clouds, I really enjoy a lot. Okay. So I hope you guys will also enjoy once you are into it. You can see how fluffy these clouds look when you add so many layers of quantos to this, and it gives a really shape to this like clouds. It takes time, but it is worth time giving because you cannot do it in one go. It takes time to create clouds. If it's not coming in one go, it's perfectly fine because it needs practice when you are especially doing the cloud parts. So a few more clouds are there, and we almost done with it. I think one more cloud is left and we'll be done with the cloud part. You can see how small shapes I'm creating so that it gives a nice shape to it and very less amount of color I'm adding over here so that the bluish color is also visible. Now, just the upper part of the cloud is left. This, I will turn it around and then I will do it because it's a little difficult to do it in a upper part. I'll just turn it around. I'll first apply the colors that is white color, and I'll turn it around and then I'll give a little shape to that cloud as well because that shape is not coming. So I'll just turn it around and then I'll start giving the shape to the upper clouds. You can also cover the sides of your canvas if it is a stretched canvas and can cover the sides with these clouds as well, or you can just leave it like that and paint the sides with black. I'm just giving the shape, removing little shape to the upper section of clouds and just blending the colors, and this is it, a little bit more lighter clouds here and there. And this is it? 7. Mountain Detailing Part 1: So now let's start with the mountains. First, I'll just do the outline. These are the colors, black, white, Rosiana orange and blue. These are the colors which I have taken. I'll just first do the outlining with my rigger brush, and with my black color. I'll first outline it so that I can give a little shape to these mountains and then I'll start with the detailing. I just wet my brush, made a little fluid, this plaque. Because whenever we are drawing any lines, try to make the color little fluid. Otherwise, you will end up creating thick lines. Make a color little fluid, especially when you're doing the outlining part and then do the outlining. And try to do it with your rigger brush, either size two by zero or three by zero. Just outlining very thin outlines, it should be there. Make the color flowid and then start with the outlining. Very thin outline as much thin as possible, you can draw it. Just try to draw thin lines. Now, if you are having difficulty in drawing thin lines just give a little practice to it, especially use the tip of your brush for drawing the thin lines. Don't use the entire brush, don't bend the brush, very lightly press without any pressing your brush, use the tip of the brush and draw the lines. This will create a very nice fine line when you will only use the tip of your brush. Oh. You can see I'm just giving a little shape to the mountains, and then we'll start with the detailing the texture detailing of the mountains. We have already blocking it first with one just outlining it with this rigger brush, and then I'll start with the detailing of the mountains. For the detailing of the mountains, we will be needing different types of brushes. First, let's use this round brush only for giving a little more shape to it. First, Let's take this rosenairt and we'll start applying it adding a little water from my brush to this color and mixing a little orange to it to make a similar color which we have used earlier for first blocking and simply blocking it, just repeating the same process. It should not be a very smooth finish because these are mountains. We don't want very smooth finish of the color should be there. Adding a little more white because the lower side is more whitish. You can see I want the brush marks to be there so that it gives a nice shape to these mountains. All these things I'm doing with this brush. But first, I will just take this masking tape in this center line, which is horizontal line so that the color doesn't go inside this bluish part. Just the center line, I'm putting the tape over there and then we'll do the entire painting. Okay. So slowly, I'm just giving a nice shade with my brush, the lighter shade at the bottom part, and it's okay if there are brush marks because I need those brush marks so that it looks like mountain. So it's fine if there are brush marks. Because mountains are never smooth finish. So there are always some or the other stones or something there. The below part is actually very lighter in shade. I'm just trying to add more of white to it and I'm trying to blend it with my lighter color. Now here again, blending will only be possible if other color is wet. If the other color is not wet, it will not blend. Make sure that the other color which you have applied, the base color is wet. Now I'm just taking blue color. And a little bit of black mix in this and applying it on the top because the top color is also a bit dark. So I'm just applying it and a little white also to mute the color and just applying it on the top of it. We are just shaping the mountain actually without the detailing. We are just blocking the colors and shaping the mountains, and then we'll start with further adding more textures to these mountains because texture is very important when we are doing these types of mountains. So Now again, adding a little color to the above part. Now let's block in this part. This part is like rosiana and white mix. I'm just painting it again with one more coat and then I'll start with the detailing of this. Just adding more of this color and extending it to the bottom. Just adding one more code so that it becomes quite opaque because when we add one more code, it becomes quite opaque and it's quite thick colors. Yes, we are just applying one more code of it. Simply little white pillow. Same color, same technique we are using, which we have used earlier for the first blocking of the mountains, the same technique, and then we'll do the detailing. Because whenever we do any blocking or painting on the canvas, it's required that you should at least do two codes of the blocking and then start with the detailing. Sometimes it is not required on the paper, but yes, it is required on the canvas. Now, this blocking is done. Now we'll create the details. For detailing, we'll use Bristol brush. This is Bristol flat brush, which I will use over here. Because these are quite hard brushes, and it gives a very nice texture to the mountains. So I'm just taking this rociana and black mix and it's a completely dry brush, and there's no water in it. Just a dry brush, and I've applied the color on the tip, and with very fine without pressuring my brush, without any pressure on the brush, just light tapping on the surface. Don't press your brush. Otherwise, it will create thick patterns. It's better to not press the brush and very lightly just use the tip of your brush to create these textures. This textures gives a very nice realistic look to these mountains. I'm just applying these textures to especially to the borders of the mountains so that it gives a nice area, and I'll apply all over, especially to the sides of the mountains. Very little little I'm taking the colors and completely dry brush without any water. I haven't wet the brush this time. Because early in the clouds, I did wet the brush, but in this, I haven't wet the brush. I'm using completely dry brush, and with the brush tip, I'm just creating these textures without pressing the brush, just applying to the area, which is the side area of the mountain. This is a technique which we use for many texture detailing, especially dry brush technique we use for most of the painting when it comes to realistic. But if you will press it, it will create a thick pattern. Means, if you will press it, it will create a thick pattern. It should be a very light press of your brush. Don't press it too much. 8. Mountain Detailing Part 2: So again, I'm just applying some more lighter textures. So same brush I'm using here, and I'll apply a little more of this first brown and a little bit of white to it. A little lighter texture I want. So I'm just applying to the bottom area. Just the very little amount of color and the pressure should be on your tip of your brush. Your brush should not bend. Okay. Just very light pressure of your brush and here and there, some white textures so that it looks like there are snow covered in between, very light textures. It's just taking more of white and a little more of white textures to it here and there. You can see how realistic it is looking when we are applying so many layers of textures to it. First, we applied a darker one, then little light and the little more light. Little orange texture I'm adding here because there are lots of white over there just to cover it up. Now we will do the other mountains which are beside this mountain. Same but before that, there's one more texture here. That is the darkest texture, that is the lines. I'm just adding black and this orange and this fan brush. Again, simple dry brush. This is the cristal fan brush which I'm using over here, and I'm giving nice textures of lines to this to the edges especially. Very light pressure again and completely dry brush. It is a very good brush from Rosemary. Just now the other mountains, we'll do. The same technique we'll be using for the other mountains. Also, a little bit texture here and there, there will be there. Again, the same brush. That is the Bristol flat brush I'm using here and this black and rosen mix and a little bit of white. Again, I will add the textures to the mountains. Again, same texture pattern, very light pressure of the brush. Covering this whole entire area, especially the above part because the above part is darker and the lower part is light. I'm not applying too much to the lower part, very little amount, but the upper part is quite dark. Just applying it. Similarly the other mountains as well. So I'm going bit by bit to the mountains. First, I've completed one side, then I'll complete the other side. Likewise, I'm trying to do the mountains so that we can easily follow the techniques. Now I'm using my rigger brush over here to create more details. Now here, there is a shadow. That is a dark shadow which is there. I'm adding just blue and black combination and little bit of white, and I'll create a nice dark shadow on the mountains, which is behind the very little shadow is there, the shadow of the you can say the clouds. Just a little shadow over there with my rigger brush and a little bit more shadow below. Then just using the same brush, and I'll create more details. Just outlining it further with the same color and giving a little sharp edges to it, not like clean edges. I don't want clean edges. Simple simple things which are there when we do such type of paintings. Now there are lines which are there, which are snow lines which are falling, like glaciers, like lines are there. So I'm creating that. Some shapes of the line, especially on the top of it and below, there is a snowy area. The above, there are lines like the snow falling in one line or some glaciers or something. I'm just taking a little bit more of white because my white has finished. So again, using the same technique with my rigger brush, I'm adding more of white to this. Just simple thin lines, some are thick, some are thin, and it's like a tributary, you can say of water, it's like that, like a river, how the tributaries are coming and the below part is quite white. All the snowy part is just accumulating at the bottom. That we'll also try to create. First, the upper part, let's do that. Just adding the lines. You can see just small lines like river tributaries and the lower part, I'm just filling up with the lines of white, small small lines. Every snow area is just covered with all the tributaries which are falling on this area and they are getting accumulated like that. Everything is snowy. M. Very vertical lines I'm drawing over here. Also few lines on the other mountains in the similar manner. Very small lines and just covering the lower part. So more lines in the area as well, are few snows which are bottom of this mountain as well, just creating again the same lines and patterns over there as well. 9. Mountain Detailing Part 3: Let's start with the other mountain detailings. Same color we'll be using and same brush, that is the Bristol brush. I'm just taking black and rosiana mix to make create a dark brownish shade, and then I'll start using the same technique which I have used earlier for the other mountains. Very slow The pressure is very low, and you don't have to apply too much pressure on your brush. It should be only touching the tip of your brush. As you can see, then only that texture will come up, and the brush should be completely dry in this case, as we did for other mountains. So if the brush will be wet, that pattern, that detailing will not come up. So make sure that your brush is completely dry and it is a bristol brush. It is not a synthetic brush. Okay. Whenever we do any details, it is a little time consuming process, but the end results are always beautiful. So I mostly do realistic one. And Just adding a few more details to the other mountains as well. It should be very close to each other so that the texture appears in the entire section. I haven't applied in the lower portion because that is a little whitish in color. Now again, I'm using my rigger brush to create these lines of the glaciers, which are falling with my rigger brush. I'm just taking this white color, and I'm trying to create the tributaries which are in the river. Like that pattern, I'm trying to create These are very small details which we need to add, especially using this rigger brush. I'm here using my rigger brush to create these lines which are like tributaries. Creating the lines as we did in the previous mountains, completely with white color. Tie to create with different sizes, some are small, some are, some are th, so this will create a variations in these lines. M. This brush actually plays a very important role in each and every painting, whichever you do it, trigger brush is very important brush because for any lining for any details, we use these brushes. These are really, very important brushes. Now I'm using my fan brush. This is also Bristol fan brush to give a nice details to this. Just adding orange and white mix and a little bit more white because the lower part is more white than the upper part. Just adding these details with my tip of the brush. Again, the dry brush. Just taking more of white because that color is similar to the one which we have applied to as a base and a little lighter than that and just giving some details. Very small details are these, which we need to take care. Now I'm applying again on these pass just the dots here and there on the back side of the mountain. Adding a little bit of darker values as well. The more you add these small details, the more realistic your mountains will look. These details add a lot of beauty to the mountains when you are doing some realistic painting. Just adding a few more white lines and to the backside of the mountains, also I'll add a bit of darker version of the colors. Just a little bit of highlight of dark side of the colors. Okay. So now, these small mountains are almost done. We'll add a little more details to the middle one. Okay. Just trying to give a final shape to it. Now let's start with this one. Now again, here I'm using my bristol brush, taking the same similar colors and I'm wearing a little orange to it also. And just making first the dry brush effect on this area. It is like a slanting mountain. I'm just giving the effect also in a slanting way. Just dry effect of these brush strokes. You can see I'm mixing very little little colors. I'm not mixing too much color in this. Whenever you are also doing don't mix too much colors, mix little colors and then do all these small detailings. Again, completely dry brush technique over here as well, without any water. I'm just using this bristol flat brush and giving these textures on the mountains, as you can see, I will try to completely fill all these areas just by giving these textures. Similar textures we apply to the other mountains as well, suppose if you're doing any other mountain details, similar textures you have to apply. You just have to see what all textures, water lines are there, and then you can do any mountain. This is one of the example, how you can do the mountains. Now here, this is a lighter version. I'm adding just lighter colors, that is white, and a little bit of brown mix, not too much. It's just adding this lighter version of color. All these effects adds actually the beauty to the paintings. Now these lower portion is very lighter in color. That's why I've added more of white and less of this brown color. That is Rosanna. Now I will add a little bit more details to this bigger mountain, which is sliding because there are some details which are there, which I will do with my brush the liner brush. Just I'm adding a little bit more of white to the below portion because they are quite snowy at the below area, and especially over here as well. I'm just adding a bit more of white to this lower portion. Now, I'll start doing this part, the main mountain, the bigger one. I'm just creating lines with my liner brush, but I think this will take a lot of time. Let's use different brush. This is the flat brush which I'm using here. To create these lines, small size flat brush I'm using here and I'm moving the brush in texture format. This, you have to wet your brush, remove excess of water, and then take the color. Then only that effect will come up. Take a very little amount of color on your brush and then you have to move it in a diagonal form. This will give a nice texture to the mountains, especially the lower part. I'm just adding a little bit of orange and white mix a little bit more of white and a little bit of burn Riana. I'll add more details to this. Simply curve lines in between to give more curve effect to these mountains. You can see how bright and nice these mountains are looking when you apply such small, small details. Very small details are these which we need to take care when we are doing such type of paintings. Now let's take a little darker version that is rosiena and this brown and giving just a highlight to the ones, which is the lighter shade, the lighter diagonal lines on the blow of that I'm just adding this darker color so that this will give a to lines. Okay. Almost done with this mountain painting, and we'll start with further more detailing of the water part and the pathways. 10. Final Mountain Detailing: Now, let's start with a few more details of this main mountain. Just adding white and all these colors, more of white, I'll add a little bit white texture to this because it is not completely brown with my fan brush, I'm just using the dry brush and giving these textures. Putting my brush straight like 90 or 75 degrees and just use the tip of your brush to create these textures. These textures I'm putting especially in the center of the lines where there are more browns are there. And don't press your brush. Just use it with very light pressure and just the tip off your brush and take completely raw color without any water to give these nice textures. Now, let's add a few more of these details now black and this blue Windsor blue, which I've used for the background. I'm just mixing it and making a darker color, and I'll start blocking the ones which are very dark. Just with my brush, that is the flat brush. I'm just filling up all these darker areas. Okay. Every time the size of the brushes has to be dependent on the size of the image or the paper. This is a small area, so I have used a small size flat brush. Everything depends upon your size, what size you are using. Everyone asked me what size brushes we should use, but I always recommend that whatever is the size of your paper use that size of brushes, like if the bigger canvases, then use one or two inch brushes. Now, here I will create effect that is the cloud shadow effect here. I'm just taking first black and brown to give a little more details, darker details at these areas. After that, we'll create a shadow of the cloud. Just small dots and lines I'm creating. So let's add a little bit more of these darker details with my Bristol brush. Just a little bit of the darker shades. We almost done with this mountain part, and now you can see how nice it is looking of textures and details with just dots and lines we have created. Now we will be creating some shadow of the clouds which are falling on these mountains. But before that, let's add some more details of darker version, the outline and the tip. Just outlining it nicely. Outline is very important after all the paintings and detailings has been over. Very fine line very fine line details I'm doing over here. And our mountain will be over and then we'll be creating the shadow effect. Let's start creating the shadow effect first. For this, I will be using again my smaller brushes that I used for First, I'm just taking white color and wetting my brush because my brush has been dried. Same filbert brush I will take a little bit of black because I want a little grayish texture to this. Mixing it make a color transparent by adding water because we don't want very thick color. Just take the color and start creating the effect. Your color has to be very thin so that the back portion of your mountain should be reflected. It should not be very thick colors. Otherwise, that effect will not come up. This is also called as glazing effect in which you can see the upper color also and the below color also. The color has to be that thin. Just adding first layer, then again, second layer, a little bit more of this circular motion effect. I will add a little bit of a more white black. Again, I'm just trying to create the round shapes. Just similar round textures. Now you can see it is coming up like a shadow over there. I'm just adding a little blue also to this. Don't take too much blue. Otherwise, everything will turn out to be blue. Adding more of white to this blue. Again, adding some more layers to this. Now, you can see a perfect cloudy shadow which is falling on this mountain. And you can see some back paintings also of this mountain, but I also add a little bit of the detailing with my brush so that you can see it very light detailing. Now it's perfectly fine. We are done with the cloud effect, the mountains, and then we'll start with this whole bunch of pathway that is foreground, that is the pathway and the water part after completing this. 11. Lake Detailing: Now, let's start with the foreground. First, we will draw a line which divides the background and the foreground with this flat brush. So I'm just taking white on my brush, and I'll first draw the line. From the above masking tape, I'll just draw a straight white line with my flat brush. And then after that, I will just take off that masking tape and we'll start with the below water detailing. And take it off very slowly, can see how nicely that line has come up when we apply masking tape. Now we will add details to the water. Now for this, we'll be using our flat brush for creating the details and the colors are same, which we have done earlier. This is the flat brush. I will just dip it in water and make it straight with my hand, with my fingers, I will just make it straight pointed. And then I'll try to mix the colors that is cobalt teal, and this is windsor blue. Then with the tip of the brush, I'll start creating the details. I'm just using the tip of my brush and just creating these small lines. When we have pressed the brush with the finger, it has become pointed and when it becomes pointed, it gives these patterns of lines. We have to fill it up entirely to this whole area, and these lines should has to be very close to each other. It should not be too far, very close to each other. This is a very simple way of painting, especially the water effect. Take very small amount of color on your brush. Don't take too much color on your brush. Otherwise, these lines effect will not come up. And when you're doing this process, your color will become a little sticky or brushes, that your color will stick on your brush. Every time just wash it off and then start doing it because it happens that when we are doing such technique, after a point, the brush becomes sticky and it will not form these textures. When that happens, first wash off your brush, then again, make it pointed and then start using the colors. You can see how closely I am creating these lines. It should be that close. There will be two shades of water, one is blue and one is little grayish. First I'm adding the bluish one, and then I'll add the grayish one. Just take the color on the tip of your brush. Don't take too much color on your brush. Just you can see how much color I'm taking. Very little at of color I'm mixing and I'm taking it. This part, I have left a little so that I can add a little bit of grayish color towards this side. First I'm filling this side with the bluish color. The more close these textures will be the more nicer and more real the water will look. Try to make it as close as possible. We'll also repeat the same technique with the grayish color as well. Just adding a few water details. Simple straight lines, horizontal lines I'm putting these lines are very close to each other. Similarly, we will add more of this grayish color as well. I hope you guys are now enjoying this painting because we have already done the upper part. Now, I'm just mixing the grayish color black and white. I'll just mix a little bit of cobalt also. Then I'll start applying the colors to the other portion, which is adjoining the pathway. I'm just trying to mix it with this blue also. Again, the same process we have to mix very little amount of color, don't mix it too much and a little bit of cobalt teal and the same technique we have to use as we did for this blue part. I hope you guys are enjoying it because I am enjoying it. I really enjoy doing these types of landscapes, and I hope you guys also doing it and I try to teach each and every techniques which I learn and which I experimented so that people who are willing to learn acrylic painting can do it easily. That's why I try to come up with different landscapes so that you can learn it and you can add more details to it on your own. I have done many of the classes. Some are very big level paintings, which you can see, there are many classes, which I have already done, and you can see in the list. In fact, the floral ones are also there and the fur painting is also there, so you can watch them as well. Just try it out. If you love acrylic medium, or you can try with gas as well or oil paints. Everything has same technique, just the difference of the medium. So just adding more of white line on the top. Now I'll add a little bit more white line because it has to be quite sharp. Now, let's add more of lighter color in between, just by adding more white to the scubalt teal and just adding a few lighter values to this mix that layering is done. Here what we are doing is the layering of textures we are doing. Some are color, some are light color, some are light gra The mix of all will create a very nice look of the water. Okay. So just here and there, I'm applying this lighter color not everywhere. You can see already that water effect is coming up very well. So the color like from bluish and grayish color you can see it clearly. Now, I will add a little grayish texture also to the other side light grayish one. Very simple and easy technique of painting water, especially the silent water with this technique, you can always do any water, any river same technique is used. This water painting is almost done. Now we will do the pathway, and then the last part will be our. This is done. 12. Path Detailing: So let's start with the pathway now. Here again, I'm using my rigger brush. First, I will outline the pathway, and then we'll start with the detailing. Just fine lines. First, Whenever you are drawing some lines or anything, just make sure that your color is fluid so that you can easily draw the lines. A little thicker lines than the usual one, which we draw. So that gives a depth to this area. And now we will add some details to this. So more lighter lines along with this black line to give a little depth to this. Very small details which I'm adding over here. Now we will start with the detailing. Again, I'm using this brush, and some areas which are a little lighter in color. I'm just adding those areas because I feel like it should be filled more. Same color I'm just adding it with my same flat brush. Now let's start with this sting again, dry brush technique I'm using here. First, a darker texture that is I'm just using black and just giving textures to this area. Okay. So whenever you create any texture details, just have to keep in mind that your brush has to be dry completely dry without any water. So just adding a few details to the entire path section. Try not to press your brush. It should be a very light technique, very light brush pressure, should not be very hard. Just the tip of the brush has to touch the canvas, that's it, and very light textures on top of it. Now let's add some lighter texture that is wide. Just taking white and creating some nice very light texture dots on top of it. Just overlapping that black textures. I'll try to repeat the same technique everywhere. But just the tip of the brush you have to add when you are doing these texture techniques. This is the simplest and easiest way to create a path with the textures. When you look from far, it will look like real stones, which are there on that pathway. So it looks very nice when you create textures. I've almost filled the entire area. Now, let's add a little bit more on the bottom part. Now, there are some stones and pebbles which are there. That also I'll try to create. First I'll create one bigger stone, which is, that is a rock. Actually that is not a stone, bigger smoke with just gray color. The small stones there where the stick is holding the flax what we have to create. I'm creating the bigger rock, and then I'll create two to 3 stones. Also just outlining it and adding a few textures to it, and that's it. I'm not creating too much details to this. Now adding smaller rocks, two three rocks, where I will be putting the stick, which will be holding the flags. Just random shapes. Now we will give a little texture to this and just outline again this area, this pathway area, so that it becomes more steep and clear. Adding a more textures to especially the corner areas of the pathway. Just the dots random dots. Okay. So now, we'll start with creating the flag and the stick which is holding the flag. 13. Flags Painting: Now, let's start with the main part of a painting, that is the Holy flag painting. All these colors I have taken. These are vibrant colors, that is green, red, yellow, blue, white. All these colors I will be using for the flag painting. First, let's draw the stick which will be holding the flag. The stick will come through these rocks which we have drawn earlier. Simple I'm just taking a red so that becomes reddish brownish color. Drawing the line first and then we'll draw the string where the flax will be hanging and then we'll draw the flax. Simple slanting stick, which is holding too many loads of flag there. I'm trying to create that. Just adding a little bit of white highlight to it. Now, let's start with the flag part, but first let's draw the line where we will be holding the flag, a little bit taller stick. Just fine curvy lines and make sure that your color is fluid. Otherwise, you'll not be able to draw such thin lines. Just making the color more fluid and then use your rigger brush to create the lines, simple fine lines, and there we will create the flags, giving the outline where the flags will be to the other side as well. Now, the simple technique of drawing the flags easy and fast technique is that you use your flat brush and create it. I'm using my small size flat brush to create the flag. First I'm using red and first I will apply red color. This is fluorescent red wing. I'm giving a little gap in between so that I can add all the different colors as well. So Just adding a little bit of white because it is quite thin color to make it a little opaque. You can see at a distance, I'm just putting this red color. Then I'll put a different color. You can see the four colors four to five colors actually. In the flag, there is, so I'll just add all those colors as well. Now, this is the simplest technique of drawing the flags. You can also draw the flag like first draw rectangle and then fill the color. That option also you can do, but this is the easiest way of drawing it. Take your flat brush, small size, and then just draw, take your color and just draw a line. That's it. Now I will use different color that is the blue color. Is the same blue color which I have used for the sky. Just simple blue color. I'm adding next to the red color. We'll also create same details to the other side also. Just adding blue then we'll add a different color to it. Alternate colors we have to add. We have five colors, different different colors, I'll start adding up. Now this is the cadmium yellow. I'm just mixing a little white to it to make it a little thick because cadmium yellows are mostly transparent colors. I've just added a white to it. I'm just adding again next to the blues. Okay. You can see how beautiful it is looking when you put these flags in between this. So it's actually a real picture where you can see in the Himalas very beautiful place. You must visit if you get a chance to visit it. Just adding white also. Now it's almost filled with different colors. We'll also do the same thing on the other side where we have created the lines and we'll create one more lines in between because they are overlapping one another. We'll try to create such type of view. Now, just enjoy the process, how it's coming up. Now let's add to the other side. Now, first here I'm adding blue. Then I'll add different colors. Now, here a little smaller size because the space is a little less. So I'm just creating it a smaller one. So similar technique I'm repeating over here. Just enjoy it and fill in with your own colors. Now I will add a few more lines which are overlapping the others. Just one here and one in between the two and one more I will draw below. So these are just overlapping one another. I'll try to create one more on the other side as well. Now, let's add few more flags which are overlapping the other flags. I hope you guys are enjoying doing this painting because I really enjoyed while doing this. And the end result, it's really very beautiful when you put it on your table or you frame it, whatever you feel like you can do it. So it's a really beautiful and vibrant painting. Oh. If you'll use fluorescent red, it will create more effect to this paintings. Red adds magic, especially these flags add magic to these paintings. Simply, I'm just overlapping one or the other flags on top of each other. Now, this painting is almost done. We are just left with a few flags and we are good to go with this painting. So do share your reviews if you like this painting. It gives me a lot of motivations and do try it out and share with me. You can also share me on my Instagram. That is Moin Art Gallery.
