1. Intro: Hello everyone, my name is Karen sand. On this course you will learn how to create some kinetic typography animation in After Effects. First, I will show you some fonts that can be used for this kind of style. And then we will move to After Effects to get started, we will start with some simple effects like stretching affects Eckbo and scale life. Then we will learn some distortion effects, 3D perspective, and create a great texts as a base for the other animations, we will explore some effects that will help you create more than 20 variations, soft kinetic topography animations. Finally, you will learn how to mask an object and create a gradient animation. Kinetic topography is really trendy and in this course I've tried to explain all the techniques that are used from other designers. So you're kinda understand how everything is done and be creative to create their own animations. For this course, you only need after he packs no extra plugins. So we'll make sure to enroll and see the whole class. 2. Finding Fonts: Okay, so first of all, I wanted to show you where you can get some funds. And I mean font styles that are usually used in this kinetic topography and emissions. And yeah, the first resource are the main resource is the font.com. And here you can download free funds. And together font-style that is typically used in these kind of animations. You just go to the categories and go to the basic. And here you have some really cool fonts that you can use for this purpose. The first one is this lemon meal that I like also this one bus knew. I don't know how to pronounce this, but yeah, you can you can see and download what you like. I also found this resource from doped motions, where he suggested some free fonts. And the first one and the third one are the one that I also liked. So I just searched for their name Sunday font and here I found them. Yeah, this one and also this one that can be stretched. And look really cool. So here are the letters. Okay, so let's just download one of these and install it. Okay, so I'll just go to Download, going to extract here. And here I just want to show you how you can install the fonts. So here are the font file. Right-click and install. And yeah, I already have it, but just click yes. And you'll find it on the list of the fonts on your Adobe After Effects are photoshopped. So yeah, that's about the fast. Now let's get started in After Effects. 3. Stretch Effect: Okay, so now we are in After Effects and the first effect that I'm going to teach you how to do it is the stretch effects. So first of all, let's create a new composition. Yeah, I'm just going to go with an HD resolution. Frame rate 30 and the duration, let's leave it six seconds. I'll just click OK. And now let's just add the text. So we go to the Type Tool right here. In case you don't see these, just go to Window and checked out tools. Yep. Okay. So I'll just type something here. I'm going to select it and actually I'm going to use a font. And I'm going to do all caps. Make it white. And yes, so you just need to go to character to change the settings of the text. Ok. Now I can increase the size a little bit. And let's go to the line and put it in the center. Again, if you don't see any of these, just go to Window and usually you just need to check something here. Yeah, is align. Okay, so now we have the text here is the layer of the text down if you want to stretch it. First of all, let's go to the selection tool. And yeah, you can drag it on this side then do something like that. But again, it stretches the whole thing. You cannot select just one letter and stretch it. So let's undo that. So to be able to do that, you just need to convert that into a shape. So go to the Lear, right-click and go to create great shapes from text. And what this does is divides the text in different shapes. So let's zoom in. And yeah, I can uncheck that layer below. Now we have just the shape and we go down on the contents. We will see that they are divided into different shapes. So now you can play around with these separately. But to do this stretch, we need to go to the path of each of these. So you can go to this arrow. And yeah, here's the path. Say this way. You can select the path now just select a part of the tax like that. And you can see that more points are created for the path and you can just drag. And you can see that the part that you selected can be stretched. So let's undo that. So yeah, that's how the stretch thing works. So we need to go to the path. Of each letter and animated by creating a keyframe. So to avoid going through each of these, we can just search for path. And yeah, we can select them by holding shift. Okay? And now we are going to animate these. Okay, so we start from 0 and we can go to second number two. Let's say, yeah, here you can see on the timeline. And now it's up to you to stretch it. But usually it looks good when you stretch the letter E because it has these horizontal straight lines. So about the stretching, you need to be careful about what you select. So now that you have selected the paths, you just need to select the area that you want to be stretched. So output this selection in the middle of the horizontal lines of the letter E, like that. And now just stretch it. If you want to have a straight stretch, just hold shift. And yet this is how it is done. And you can see that we have the keyframes created on the letters that are stretched, which is the letter E, a, and T. So let's undo that and I'm going to show you something else. I, when I was trying to learn this, I was having problems with selections. For example, out select, hit until the up, this vertical line of E. And I'll stretch it and it'll it'll look like this. So yeah, just wanted to say that so you can be careful about the selections that you do. So yeah, in this case, it needs to be in the middle of the three horizontal lines. Hand yeah, let's do this again. I'm holding Shift. Okay, now I can go to second number three and I can do another animation. I can bring this back to where it was. And I can make another selection. Okay. So let's select this again. And yeah, basically this is what you can do. You can stretch the letters however you like. I'm just showing you the technique. So let's go from the beginning and click play. Yeah, so if you don't like the speed of it, you can select these keyframes and move them. Say if you want the animation to be slower, speed, yeah, you can select them all and go to this graph editor. And now are the rhythm of the animation. For example, let's just click this. Easy, and this is what you get. So let's see the animation again. Yeah, so as you can see, it starts low and it builds. So what it means, it starts slow, then it moves faster, and then it moves slow again. You can see that the speed right here, units per seconds. And of course, if you want to change this more, you can just click on one of these outlines and play around with the graphs. But usually I just like to keep it simple. Let's do something else, less stretch it vertically. So I'm going to uncheck that. And let's do it again with a text, going to right-click create shapes from text. And again contents. Let's go to that path again. And I'm going to select them all by holding Shift. Yeah, I'm going to set a keyframe. And now I'll just go to second one. And actually I'm just going to stretch this letter E cell just selected like that and hold shift. Also below holding shift again. And now let's go to the second number two. Okay, now I'm just going to copy this first keyframe. So I'll just select it control C, control V. And I'm just going to drag it right here on the second number two. And now let's click play. Yes. So I just wanted to say that you can also stretch them vertically. Now let's do this on the graph fan. I'm going to select it and just do this. Ys, ys, and yeah, let's see the animation again. So, yeah, that's about this stretch effect. Now let's move on to the next effect. 4. Echo Effect: Okay, now I'm going to teach you how to create the echo effect. So let's create a new composition. And let's call this echo and the sizes the same also the duration. I'm just going to click OK. And now we have two compositions here. So let's just copy the text from here, control C, control V, and makes sure that it is in the center. And here now I'm going to show you the aircraft and basically you just go to your facts and search for ako. I'll just drag it and put it on the layer and here on the facts and controls. And we see the effect. And if we click play, nothing happens. Even when we change the settings of it. Yeah, we can decrease this are increased. This other one. Number of echoes. Nothing happens. So let's undo that. And the reason behind that is because the aircraft fact is created when it moves. So basically it creates a clone of the object that you are applying the echo effect too. So to get that effect, basically we need to create an animation. We just needed to animate the position. So I'll just type on the keyboard and go to the position, or you can just go to transform and position. So let's create a keyframe in the beginning. And let's just move fan. Yeah, I'll just hold this. And you're gonna see that it's already created a clone out of the text, but we will work more with it later. First of all, let's animate this. So I'm just moving on the timeline and changing the position. Yeah, in the end I think I'm just going to copy the first frame control C, control V, and drag it in the end so it creates a loop. Yeah, let's click plate and we can see the echo effect a little bit. Okay? Yeah, now we can go right here and first of all, we can see that they overlap to each other. So to fix that, we need to go to Character and we need to add a stroke. Let's make this 14 thing. It should be okay. Yeah, actually, it needs to be filled over stroke. And if we see it in transparency mode, yeah, you will see that the stroke, but it overlaps. And the reason behind that is the echo operator. It is an add and you can change these, but the one that I use are composite in back are composite in front. Yeah. And I like them bolts. Let's see the first one. Okay. Now we need to increase the number of echo. So yeah, we can see more of it. And that's up to you wherever you like. Let's start from the beginning. So you get the idea of how this works. Now you also have this starting intensity. And dk is about fading the, the echo. So I guess that's up to you. But personally, I don't change these edges, leave them as they are. I just changed the number of phaco and there's also the echo time. That is about the number of phaco in a certain path. And you can change that. Let's see what you get. But of course I'm trying to keep this simple so I don't want to complicate this and just leave it on the original echo time. Okay, so now I'm going to show you another way to animate this. So I'll just duplicate the texts unchecked tags below. I duplicated it by clicking control D. Or you can just go control c, control v, or had it copy and paste. Yeah, now I'm going to try something else. So I'm going to remove this key frame and the position. I'll just leave it as it is. And I'm going to click on this toggle switches and modes. And I'm going to make this a 3D layer. To make this, you just need to go on this 3D layer and click on it. So now besides x and y, we also have the third dimension. So yeah, let's go to transform. And yeah, you can see three options here. Position x, y, and here is the depth. So what I wanted to do is just animate the depth. For example, let's make this smaller. Ok, I'll just set a keyframe. And now let's go to the end somewhere right here. And I'm going to bring this in front. And just type 0 and increases more. Okay, let's see what we get and then decide about it. Since the quality to third, just so it loads faster or half. Okay? Although there is an echo, it is difficult to see because of the perspective. For example, if I check the transparency, you will see that it is like a 3D object, but it is difficult to see the echo. Maybe we can change the echo time like that. Yeah. Now, the ACA is more visible. And another way would be to just duplicate this. So we keep both versions. And now, besides the echo, I'm going to try and rotate the text. So I'll go to transform again. And I'm going to set a keyframe on all these options, the orientation and rotation options. So let's go to the end. And you can see what we can get. Ok, let's make this 0 and the x three. And actually in this case I think we need to change the position as it was right here. I'll select scale this down a little bit. Okay, so, yeah, what I'm trying to say is that you can change all these settings right here and get different results. And I'd like you have a formula or everything. So let's see what we can get. This really cool to think. Okay? So the possibilities are endless. I guess you can make a copy of this and change the orientation differently and get another result. But yeah, just wanted to show you that as an example of what you can do with the echo effect. And I guess we can change the position here to get this closer. How okay, let's play it once again. Okay, so, yeah, that's about the echo effect. 5. Scale Wipe: Okay, now I'm going to show you another effect that is really simple, but I like it. So let's go to composition, new composition. And let's call this y because that's the name how the effect, I will just click OK. And now let's get the text again. Control C, control V, CEQ hit. And let's go to effects and presets and search for CSI scale wipe. I'm just going to drag it into the text. And here is the effect. We can see that it is. And the center here is that shape right here. Here's the x, here is the Y in case you want to change that. And I'm going to show you why you may need to change it. Here is the direction of the stretch. So let's try the stretch from 0. We can increase it. And let's put the direction to how Zero site is vertical. And you can notice this problem that the stretch ends right here. So to fix that, first of all, let's delete the fact and 20 to go to the text, right-click, recompose. And just, okay, so now the composition has the size of this document that we have here. So let's undo that then. You will see that these red points represent the area of the texts. So one we click, decompose. It matches the size of the documents. So yeah, lets try the CC scale wipe again and let's put the direction to 0 and we can stretch it. Yeah, you can see now how it looks like. And of course, you contains the center, as I said, here is the x, here is the Y. Yeah. Based on how you change the center, it defines some where the stretch will start. Okay, so let's just animate this. First of all, I'm going to right-click composition settings. And I'm going to make this three seconds duration. So I need to animate the stretch and maybe the center. I'll just go in the end. Yeah, let's try the center too. Or maybe what we can do about this center is goes somewhere right here on second number two. And yeah, let's help them the effects. And I'm just going to click this shape to make it stay as it is. So from this point to this point that the center doesn't change. Now I will just go to the end and change the y so we can have the transition. Okay, so let's see now how it looks like. Yeah. So yeah, that's how you can use the scale-like. 6. Distorted Text: Okay, now I'm going to show you two effects that are about distorting the texts. So that's created new composition. That's called this distortion. And let's make the duration five seconds. I'll just click OK. And let's get the text control c, control v. Let's take hit. And the first effect is called turbulent displays. I'll just drag it. And yeah, you can see the distortion. It is done from the amount and the size. So here is the effect. You have different kind of displacements from turbulent to all these other options, the twist. Yeah, you can go through each of these, but basically they just distort the texts. Usually I just leave it as it says, and play around with the amount and the size. So these are the two main options that we are going to play around with also the evolution. So first of all, let me show you what each of them does. First of all, we have the amount, so it is the amount of the displacement, and then we have the size. If we decrease it, we get smaller. Wavy. Let's put this on full. And if we increase it, we get bigger wavy shapes. Then we have the offset. Yeah. So it is this center right here. It is the center of the distortion. If you change it, you can see what you get and you can also animate this. Now we have the complexity. So the more we increase it, the more complex it gets, obviously. And here's the evolution which just animates the distortion. And yeah, so basically these are the three main effects, the amount, the size, and the evolution. I'll just put them as they were so we can start from scratch. And yeah, we can put this on 0. And now let's change the amount, the size, and the evolution. Yeah, let's go to the second one. I can increase the size. The amount decreased size. Think. Yeah, let's go to another point and I can decrease the amount, increase the size. Say I, you just play around with the amount and size and he will get distorted text. Okay, to make this a loop, let's go to the end, and I'll just make the size 0. Okay, now let's go to the beginning and I'm going to change the evolution. So from the beginning it is 0. And now let's go somewhere in the middle. Let's make this one. Now go to the end and make this 0 again. Now let's click play. And yeah, that's the distortion that we have. So now I will show you another distortion effect. I'll just duplicate this and uncheck the layer below, delete the effect. And yeah, now we have just the text. I'm going to use the mercury effect, CC, Mr. mercury, I'm going to drag it in the text and you can see that the tags disappears. If I click Play, you can see how it appears. Again, we have this rectangular shape and that is because we need to decompose the tax like we did with the scale wipe. So let's delete the mercury fact and recompose. Click OK, and let's drag this. Okay? So, yeah, if I make it transparent, it is difficult to see, but it is x that looks like a liquid. So here we have the settings of the effect and we need to play around with these so the text is more visible. So, yeah, let's just start from the beginning. The first one is radius x and radius y. The more we increase it. If we increase the radius x, it will be separated horizontally. And if we increase the radius y, it will be separated vertically. Okay? So to make this more visible, usually I just play around with these and see what effect I get on the text and decide about what value I put on each of these. So the tax is visible. Now we have the producer, it is basically just the position of the liquid. I just need to put it in the center because this is where the text is in the center. Now we have the duration which is just rotating the liquid. I just we don't need to change that. And the velocity, it is about the speed of the liquid. Let's see how it plays now. So if I increase it, yeah, you can see that it plays faster and is separated. So I'll undo that. Now we have the birth rate. If I increase it, you can see that the liquid are blended together in a way. So that's the main effect that makes the text more visible. Yes, I just increase the birth rate and immediately you can see the text and you can decide about the level of visibility by playing around with the birth rate. Yeah. I think it is still visible, so I'll just leave it like that. Now you have the other options on gravity. Yeah, when you increase it, it distorts the image more. So I'm going to undo that. The gravity is about making it fall. Obviously. Yeah, it falls faster. So thing I can put the gravity on 0, so it kinda floats in the middle. As you can see. And I think I can decrease the birth rate to make it less visible in a way. Okay, so now the other main option is the animation. Right now it is an explosive. You can put it on fractal explosive for example, and get something different. Or put it on and get this kind of rotation. So you can decide about what you'd like more basically, there are just different ways of moving the liquid. Yeah. I'll just leave it as it is. Here is the block size and that size. This is again about the size of the liquid and you can decide about the value of it. So something else that you can do is actually duplicate this side, just click Control D. And now actually I'm going to delete this so I can go from the beginning. Okay. I can put it below or on top. It doesn't make any difference. I'm going to increase the radius, radius wide just to have some some liquids on the sides. And I think let's click Play. You can see that it looks more playful with these small liquids. On the sides. You can see the difference. So yeah, that's what you can do with mercury and turbulent displays. And now let's move on to the next affects. 7. Displacement Effect: Okay, now I'm going to show you how to distort the tax by using an animated texture. So first of all, as always, let's create a new composition. Okay, and to do the fact that I'm going to show you, basically you need an animated text and animated texture. So about the animated text, let's use this stretch effect that we did before. So I'm just going to grab this one. Yeah, control C. And let's go to the new composition that we created, control V. And yeah, now I want to fill the whole space with this kind of texts. So what I can do is just copy and paste it in different positions. So I'll click on the layer and click Control D. So maybe I can also go to time and time reverse layer so I can reverse the animation. Yeah, let's see. Now I am going to duplicate this again, and I just want to fill the whole space with this text. So Control D again. And I'm holding Shift to put it below. Let's copy it once again, Control D. And I can also resize it by going on the edges. And I can hold shift to keep the proportions. And the, and now I'm just going to duplicate these and put them in different positions to fill the whole space. Okay, now I'm going to click play and see what I've created. Okay, I think I'm going to rotate this. So I'm going to click on the keyboard or you can go to transform under rotation. And I'm going to put that on 90 degrees. The, I'm just going to put it like that. And I will see. Okay, I think I can also reposition this. And yeah, you can add your own text. Maybe you can copy this and animated differently like we did on the stretch effect. But I just wanted to show you the technique and then you can do different variations. Ok. So now that we have the animation, we need to export this because to be able to distort this text, you need to have it as a video file. Notice an animation that you created in after effects. So we need to render this and then we are going to use that render as there. To distort. So let's go to File Export and had to render queue or you can just click Control M. Now we have the Render Settings. So first we go to the output and the I'm just going to save it. And output module. We need to put it as a QuickTime file or AVI. The whole point is that it should be with a transparent background. So to do that, we need to go to channels and go to RGB plus alpha and depth millions of colors. This means that we have a transparent background. So I'll click OK. And yeah, we can see right here that transparency. Let's go again to the render queue. And under Render Settings, we don't need to change anything, so I'll just click OK and click Render. Okay, now that surrender is done, I'll go to the project section, double-click and open the file. Okay, now I can uncheck everything. And I just need to put this time displacement. And I just need to put this in the composition. And yet we have now this animated texts as a video file. So now comes the process where we can distort the animation. So as I said, we need an animated text and an animated texture. We have the animated text. So now we have the so now we need the animated text her to do that. We can just go to this section. Right-click, new solid. Click OK. And let's just put it below the text. And now on the effects and presets, we need to search for a fractal Noise and drag it on this solid color. This way, we are starting to create a texture. And here on the left side we have the facts and control so we can change the texture and animate it. So now if I click Play, the texture is static. So under fractal Noise, First of all, we have is a fractal type and noise type based on what we like, we can decide about which option we choose. But basically we need a way, the animated texture. So let's go with this turbulence. Now on the noise type, we can go with spline. You can also see if you like anything else, but I'm going to show you the settings that I usually go with. Okay, now we need to simplify this more just in black and white and gray colors. We don't need to have these small white shapes. So on the complexity, we can decrease it. And it will make things more blurry. Ok? Now, you can see that it is too dark, so. What we can do is go to the brightness and contrast. Salary increase the brightness or the contrast. And I think it is okay for now. So we just need to animate it because if we click play and nothing happens, solid texture. So to animate it, we just need to go to this evolution. Just make sure you are on the starting point and set a keyframe. Now go to the end. And yet you can rotate this and you can see the animation. So yeah, just made three full rotations and effectively plate. You will see that the texture is animated. And we will see the effect that this kind of texts will create on the text. And if we don't like it, of course we can go back to the texts are and change it. For example, we can increase the brightness or decrease it, or increase contrast complexity and basically every setting. So now that we have the text sir and text, we need to decompose them both. So let's go to the texture. Right-click, decompose. Check this second option. Click okay. Same thing for the text above. Pre compose. Click OK. And now we need to apply an effect called time displacement. I'm going to drag it and put it on the text. Beyond the layer above. And here you can see this kind of glitch that happened. So if I click Play again, there is a delay on the texts. So we need that texture below to affect the texts. So, so we need to change this time displacement layer. Right now. The displacement is being created by this layer right here, the layer on top of the one that we have checked. We want the displacement to be created by the texture that is below. In this case, it is this dark gray solid. So I'll just check it. And now let's uncheck the layer because it doesn't matter. And if I click Play, you can see how it is affecting the the text. You can see the distortions that are happening because of the of the text, sir. Okay, so if I am taking it, you will see the animation without the distortions. And if I check the time displacement, you will see this kind of animation. So, yeah, as I said, if you don't like this kind of animation, you can always double-click on the and he made it texture and click on the layer gold to the facts. And we can go to Transform, go to scale and increase the scale. That's just one setting that you can change. So let's go back and see how it affects the animation. Yeah, now you can see a different kind of animation. So what I'm trying to say is that you can always change the texts are and get different kind of distortions. So I think I'll decrease the scale a little bit. And I'll just leave it like that. So, yeah, that's hit about this time. Displacement effects. 8. Grid Text: Okay, now that we learned all these kind of distortions, I'm going to show you how to create some kind of backgrounds using typography. So as always, let's create a new composition. Lets call this background. I'm going to click OK. And basically we need to add a text in the middle. And we are going to repeat that. So we fill the whole space with that text. So let's go to the Type Tool. As always, if you don't see it, you can go to Windows and select tools. So let's use for 12 font. And I'm just going to type experiment. I'm going to make this white click OK and put it in the center by going to a line. And now that I have this text, I need to use the rep tile CC reptile. I'm going to drag it. And now we have this expand, write, expand Left, expect down, expand down and expand up. So if I increase it, you will see that it expands on all sides. So that's one way to do it. But I don't like the fact that the words are too close to each other. So because of that, i use another way to fill the whole space with texts, but just wanted to show you the way of doing it. So I'm going to delete that now. And I'm going to create a new composition with a width 600 and height 100. I'm going to click OK. And right here I'm just going to add a text. Again. Let's try it with experiment. I'm going to try and fill the space. So I'm going to increase the size of the text and I'll make sure that I leave some space on both sides. Ok. I'll put it in the center. And yeah, now I'll go back to the main composition, the background. And now I'll go to the project and get this composition which contains the text. I'll just drag it and put it in the center. So now we have the same thing, but as a composition, not as a text. So now let's try the same thing, the reptile effect. And now when we expand, you will see that there is some space in between. And also I'll go to scale and decrease it. Yeah. So now I just need to expand on all sides. Okay, so now that we have this text, there's also this tiling which has different options, the repetition, but I'll just go with a repeat option. So now we are going to use that as a base for all the animations, but we also need to add another effect called offset, so we can estimate this. There are different ways of animating the tags, but I think that's the easiest way. So I'll just put this Sander, the effects. And you hear it. Here we have the center, and here is the x, here is the y. We just need to move it from the left side to the right side. So we need to change the X. So I'm going to undo that and make an animation. So I'll just click on it. Go on the end and yeah, just change it. Okay. This should be fine. I'm going to click plate. Okay, I think it is. Okay. Yeah, we can try to create a loop right here. So I'll just change this a little bit more. Yeah, I'm going to the first frame and then to the last frame to see the difference. Okay, I think it is. Okay. So, yeah, we're going to use that now as a base to apply different effects. So see you on the next video. 9. Animations In Grid Text: Okay, so now that we have this animation as a base, so I'm going to show you ten different effects that you can apply to it. So I'm just going to duplicate this. Now. Copies of the first composition. And yeah, let's uncheck them. I'll keep the first one as the original one, so I'll go to the second one now. And basically the effects that I am going to apply our on the distortions section. So you can go to the effects distort and you can try these all and see what they do. But I'm going to show you ten of them that I like the most. So first of all, we start with this second one. I don't know how to pronounce them, but yeah, this is one. And here's the effect, here, its options. And usually what I do is just play around with these and see what I get. It's not like I have a formula for it. So let's just try it. You can see the kind of effect that it does. So I'm increasing the horizontal radius now, the vertical radius. And of course to have regular circled the horizontal and vertical radius should be the same. Let's make them 700. So both of them. Now we have this center is the axiom, is the y. And of course you can also animate this if you like. And the height. You can see what it does. If you want to distort it, you can increase it more or if you want to add something irregular, you can yeah, you can keep it somewhere right here. And also the radius. I'm going to keep it on 0. And yeah, that's the basic effect. If we click play, you can see the animation. Yeah, I think maybe I can just increase the radius a little bit, make it 900. And yeah, I wanted to keep it simple. I don't want to change the center too much or the height. So yeah, I'll just keep it simple and leave it like that. So let's click play. And this is what we get. Now, I can move onto the second effect. I'm going to check this other composition. And again, I'll go to the effects distort. And now I'm going to try this fear thing like sphere eyes. Yeah, you can see that it is really simple. It just has the radius and the center of the sphere. So let's increase the radius. And you can see that it is similar to the previous one. That is why I wanted to show you. You can change the center of the sphere. So yeah, these ones are similar. You can see the previous one. So maybe to make them different, right here, we can change the height. Yes, so this one is more distorted. And yeah, that's it about the sphere effect. It just has two options. So now let's move onto the third one. I'm checking the third one. And again I'll go to Effect distort. And now we will use this one. Blobby lines. As you can see, what it does is it gets the basic text and makes it bigger and inside it puts the grid animation that we have created. So if I click plate, you can see what happens. Maybe I can decrease this quality site loads faster. But yeah, you'll get the idea here. It has three basic options. You can increase the softness. To make this more blobby out. Say, let's check to see the difference and I'll put this on full. Okay. Yeah, the more we increase it, the more the letters blend with each other. Now, let's try this cut away. Yeah, this is the opposite. The tax gets smaller. So we don't want that. I think I can just increase the softness a little bit. Yeah. Now we have the light, which is about the brightness of the text. Say phi, decrease it. Yeah, you will see that the tags get kinda great. Same thing for the light height. So I think these are effects that we can just leave them as they are. And if you like, you can just go to scale and decrease it to make it smaller. So it looks better on h1 negative space. So, yeah, let's move on to the next one. I'll check this. And I'll go to the effects, the stored, and i'll try this CC lens. As you can see, it converts the grade into a sphere. And the more we increased said the sphere gets bigger until a certain point. And I think it looks good if I just leave it like that. You also have the center if you want to animate it, but I like to add them in the center. And this convergence. It makes the text more regular. So I think I like it like that. We can still see the fund are the texts, but at the same time it is distorted. So let's click plate. And the, I think it looks really nice. So let's try something else. Let's check this other composition. Again, fact distort. Now I'll go to the split effect. And you can see that there are these points in the middle. This is where the split happens. So we have B. This is point a, this is point B. And if we increase this split, you can see that there is this split a fact. And if we want to make this wider, we can change the options on the B. Say I'd like that. I'm doing it tells on the other side. Okay. I'll try to add this in the center. And what you can do with this is make it look like an eye so we can create a circle. So let's go to this ellipse tool and I'm going to hold shift to create a regular circle. Now let's go to the fill and make it white. And on the stroke. Yeah, I'm just going to make it None and click OK. Now I'll put this in the centers. How go to the align and yep, but this in the center. Now, first of all, let's put it right here. And what I will try to do is scale it down based on the split effect. So first of all, we need to animate the split effect and then animate the sphere. So first of all, let's put this split to 0. Now, I am going to set a keyframe and let's go to the second to maybe or one. Yeah. Yeah, let's go somewhere right here in the middle. And I'm going to open the eye. Now. I'll move some frames and leave it like that. And to leave it as it is, I need to go to the effects on the split effect and just click on this shape right here. So from this point to this point, it doesn't change. And now I'm going to close it. So let's put it back to 0. Now if I click Play, you can see the animation. So I just need to adjust the circle now. I'm just going to animate the scale. So let's type on the keyboard. And on this scale I'm going to make this. 0 after I clicked on this icon to animate it. And now I'll just move to this frame where it is fully open. And I'm going to increase the scale. Again. I'll put it in the center. Okay. Let's see how it looks like. Yeah, right here. I need to also put it in the center. Okay. Oh, I need to also fix the anchor point. This is why it is not positioned in the center. So the anchor point is in this hand her, but the anchor point itself is not in the center of the circle, so we need to fix that. So I just go to this pen behind anchor point tool and just trying to put it in the center here. Yeah. Now it is fixed. So let's try it again. Okay. You can see that it matches the movement of the split effect. Now, I'll just leave like that until this point. So I'll just click on this icon. And now let's go to the last frame and put this back to 0. Let's see what we have created. Yeah. Okay, I think it looks nice. So, yeah, that's hit about the split effect. I just thought about this idea because it looked like an I. So let's move on to the next effect. Again. I'll go to the effects distort and we go to this optics compensation. And in this case we just need to change the field of view. If we increase it, we get this sphere effect. And of course, if you want to make the sphere bigger, you can go to transform and scale it like that. Now let's click play. And yet this we get. And there is also another way to use this uptake compensation. So I'm just going to copy the effect and paste it on this other composition. So what I need to do is just go to this reverse lens distortion. I'll just take it then. You can see that it is reversed. Yeah. And you can change the field of view if you like. Usually I use that also as a transition. So for example, the texts can be like that. And you click on it and you increase it to the maximum. So from this point, you can add something else. So you can see the kind of transition that you can do. Ok, now I'm doing everything so I can just have a nice effect for the text. Yeah, I think that's nice. So you can also leave it like that. And you can see that the edges are black. So to fix that, you can just go to scale and increase it. Okay, now it is fixed. So yeah, that's it about the optics compensation. Now let's move on to the next effect. So I'll go to the effects distort than Now we will try the polar coordinates. And again, these are really simple effects. You just need to increase the interpolation. In this case. What you get. If I click Play, you'll see the animation just needs some time to load. Okay, so that's one way of using it. And the other way I'm going to copy this and paste it on the next composition. And on the type of conversion, we go to react to polar. And we get this kind of circle with text around it. If I click Play, this is what we get, the rotation of the circle. Ok, so again, a really simple effects. Now let's try the last one. So I'll go to the distort and apply this turbulent displays. So immediately you can see the effect. We already tried this before in a tax, but now we are trying it in grid. Again. You can change the amount and the size. You can also animate it. So in this case, we just want to create something simple. So I guess we can just animated the evolution. I'll go to second number three. Make this one. Now go to the end and make this a 0. Again. Let's click play. And yeah, you can see the distortion effects. So that's hit about these ten effects. Again, I didn't spend too much time on them because I wanted to just show you the effects. And they are just kinda drag and drop effects, but you can create really cool animated background with them. So now I will show you some other effects. So see you in the next video. 10. Liquify Text Animation: Okay, software, I showed you these ten FX. Now I'm going to show you two other effects that you can apply it by decomposing the composition that we already have. So let's make a copy of this composition and I'll go through the facts and control. Send, delete to blend, displaced. Let's check it. So now we have just the base animation, the reptile and the offset. And now I want to apply the CC bender effects, so I'm going to drag it. And if I increase the amount, you can see that kind of effect that we have. I can also change this from band to sharp. But you can see that we are limited in the kind of distortion that we can do. Although I can change the top and the base. So yeah, this is released small distortion. So to fix that, we need to first of all, let's delete this. We need to recompose this. Click OK. And now I can apply the CC bender again. And I can increase the amount. And said this tile to sharp. And now we have a bigger radius square. We can apply this kind of distortion. So at this point, we just need to change the values of the top and the base. Yeah, again, I'm just putting random numbers and I'm going to duplicate this vendor. So we can also distort these other parts. Yeah, maybe I can decrease the amount. And I can also decrease it on the second one. And now I'm going to work with the top and the base so I can distorted more. Okay, so now that we have this, I can scale this up. And the, I think it is nice effect where we can see the texts in different perspectives. So if I click plate, you can see how it looks. So yeah, I think it is a nice animation as a background. Okay, so now I'm going to show you the other effects. So I'm going to duplicate this. And I'm going to delete the effects. Again. This is decompose that I did of the previous compositions where we had these SCC reptile and offset effects. So now the next effect is the liquefy effect. First of all, let's make this a 100. And it's a composition. Okay. Liquefy, i'm going to distort it applied to this layer. And you can see that nothing happens if I click play. Basically on the liquefy tool, we have two options that we can use. The first one and the third one. This one is called work forward work tool. And this one, and this one is called the twill clockwise tool or something like that, but it doesn't matter. First, I'm going to show you what each of them does, and then we're going to animate it. So let's click on the first one. And you can see that this is the radius of the brush. We can increase it so we can increase the brush size and also the brush pressure. And we can just click and drag and we can see the distortion that it does. You can increase the breast pressure more and get something more distorted. Yeah, let's undo that. Okay, now we can also use the third liquefied tool. And this is the kind of effect that it does, basically puts the tax dinner around distortion. Let's undo that again. And to make this as an animation, we can set a keyframe on three of these options. The distortion, Masha, distortion mesh offset and distortion percentage. And now let's try it with first liquefied tool. We can start from the beginning, go to this second number two, and I'm just going to apply this randomly. Okay, now I will go on the end and again to some other distortions. Okay, now I can click play and see what I have created. It takes some time to load, but we will wait. We can see the final result. You can see how the liquefy a factors animated. So yeah, you can also make this longer and this is how it works. Now, let's try it with the next liquefied tool. So let's duplicate this. I'm going to uncheck the layer below. And I'm also going to delete this actually because I need to apply it again to use this third tool. So now that you know the process, you can tag these three distortion effects. Increase the brush size, increases the brush pressure. And yeah, now let's use the third tool. And I'm going to start here to some distortions. Guy. I'm just going to make something simple so it doesn't take too long to load. Okay, now I will go to the end and distorted again. Okay, now I'll click play and wait for it to load. Okay, let's see the final animation. So you can see that this is kind of different from the previous liquefy. We can see these surround shaves, but basically it is a distortion effect. So yeah, that's it about the distortion effects. Now let's move on to something else. 11. Cylinder Text animation: Okay, now I'm going to show you one last step. Again. We will use this grid as a base to create the animation. So I will just make a copy of this. So Control C or we can go to Edit and Copy. And I will create a new composition with an HD resolution. Click OK. Now edit, paste. I will check this. And now the effect that we are going to use is CC cylinder. I'll just drag it. And immediately we will have a cylinder that is created. First of all, we should scale this up a little bit. Yeah, like that. And now on the cylinder we have the radius, Position, Rotation, light and shading. We can change the radius, but for now, just leave it like that then work more with the position. On the position we have x, y, and z. Yeah, I'm going to make it smaller. Saw, I'm increasing the Z. We don't need to change the x or the y. So now on the rotation, we have the rotation x, y, and z. Yeah, again, you can choose whatever rotation or position that you like. But I think I'm going to change this like that. I'm going to make it horizontal. Yeah, I just wanted to create something simple. So if I click Play, you can see that the text is animate it because of the offset. And yeah, you can also change the x or the y. And the, I think I can estimate themselves, select them all. And actually, I'll go to the effects on C cylinder. And on the rotation. I'll just go to the end and select these icons to just have the first frame and the last frame the same. And now I can change it somewhere right here in the middle. For example, change the acts a little bit. Change the y. Yeah, actually the y doesn't matter because we already have the text. Animate it so I wouldn't change it. I'll just change the Z that. I can also change the position of the keyframes. Ok. Now I'll change the X again. Ok, let's click play and see what we get. Okay, so this is what we have. And one last change that I would like to do is change this render setting right here, right now it is on pool. But we have also the outside than the inside option. On the outside, we can see that the visible part is just the outside part basically. And we also have the inside part. And in this case I'll choose the outside part because in this case, the text is more visible, so let's quickly. So, yeah, that's how this effect works. And now on the last video, I am going to show you another essential tip that you may use some your animations. So see you on the next video. 12. Mask and Gradient Animation: Okay, so in this lesson I'm going to teach you about masking. So again, let's use this composition as a base. So I'm going to copy it and I will create a new composition. Click OK, control V. And I'm going to delete the cylinder effects so we can apply it again in a few. And I'm going to scale this down. Okay? And now I don't need too many rows, so I'm going to decrease the expand down and up. Basically I want to create a cylinder with a small height. This is why I'm decreasing the roles. Okay, so now that we have this grid, we can apply the cylinder, but it will work properly because the great doesn't fill the whole space. So if i applied, we can go to rotation and let's say we rotate the z and the eye. We can see that it is cut on both sides. So I'm going to delete that. And first of all, we need to recompose this click. Okay? And now let's apply it. Okay, so let's try and change the rotation. Yeah, you can see that it works I now okay, so this is the kind of effect that I'm trying to do, this kind of rotation. And I want to add a gradient shape in the middle. And I want to create the illusion like the cylinder is rotating with a gradient inside of it. So let's go to this shape tool. But first of all, we need to click on free space right here. So I'll click to get a rectangle two. And I put the stroke to num and the fill. White doesn't matter because we are going to apply a gradient to it. And the, I'll just create this rectangular shape. Let's put it in the middle. And now I will go through the effects and apply the gradient. I will just go to this Gradient Ramp and apply it on the Shape Layer. And now we can pick two colors. I think we can go with a safe. And here I get a blue color and the pink color, I think. Yeah. Okay, so now we have the gradient on top and the cylinder below. So we want this area right here of the cylinder to be above the rectangular shape. So we need to decide about which part to delete. We can delete this part of the rectangular so we can see the cylinder shape. But in this case, we need to be very precise to create around the shape. So we don't need to go with that option, I think. And the other way would be to put this on top for the cylinder on top, and just mask this part right here. I'll just delete this part right here of the cylinder. Now that we know which part we are going to delete, I need to show you one more thing. I'm trying to explain this in a simple way, but basically we need to recompose this once again so we don't have this cylinder effect. So to understand it better, let's try it. Let's try the mask. Make sure you check this layer where you have the cylinder and go to the pen tool. And let's select an area that we want to delete. Let's close the path. And you can see that it didn't delete the part that we want it. But basically what it did is deleted the whole area of the grid besides this one and the cylinder is created based on this shape. So when I check the cylinder, this is the effect that we get. So this is why it is difficult to remove the selected area by having the cylinder effect applied to this grid. So to simplify it, I'm going to undo everything. And I'm just going to decompose this click OK. Now I don't have any effects applied to this composition, so it is like a video. So let's try the mask again. Make sure you select this layer where you have the cylinder. And I'll try to be precise. I am going to hold Shift. Let's close the path. And now we can see just this part visible. We need the opposite of that. So let's go to the mask and we just need to go to this invert. And now we have the part that we want visible. So let's click plate. And this gives the illusion of the cylinder rotating around the gradient shape. Something else that we can do to remove these gray areas. To double-click on this composition where we have the cylinder effect and we go to the light. And we can increase the light intensity. Also go to shading and just increase this first setting. And now we have it all white in case this, what you like. And I think it looks better like that. So something else that we can do to finalize this is to apply a color balance adjustment. You let the sense iteration. I am going to apply it on the gradient shape. And I'm just going to animate the Whew. Let's go to the end and I'm going to make a full rotation. I'll click play. And the, I think we get a really nice effect. Always the gradient look nice with these kinetic topography effects. So yeah, this is how it works. 13. Final Thoughts: Okay, so we reached the end of this course and I hope you found this helpful. I know that this kinetic topography is trendy right now. So what I tried to do is just show you all the techniques that you can use to create all these animations. And of course, you can blend different effects together and get unique results. But I just wanted to keep this straightforward and just show you the effects, show you what you can deal with them. And of course, you can come up with more unique animations. Say again, thank you for watching and I hope you found this helpful and I'll see you on the next courses by.
