1. Introduction : Have you ever wanted to draw buildings but gets GAD when you observe its complex architecture. Then there's that last you're looking for. Hi, my name is Menoeceus. I'm an artist and illustrator. I love to draw and paint flowers. I will come to my class. In this class, I'm going to break the complex architectural drawings into a very simple and easy to draw buildings. I have designed this class for beginners. So you'll be learning right from the basics like how to transfer the basic design or develop graph paper, draft papers that Julia magic tool when you are a beginner, they teach you to transfer the design onto a main sheet. Then we will learn how to add life to our drawing when making some DIY Dave's. You'll also learn how to draw a building off any desired size, how to make an bei Gold, how to make it smooth. And finally, we will go one step further and try drawing a mansion. The drawings that you see on the screen might look scary, but trust me, anyone can draw buildings. So the field thing this class is for you, Let's meet in the next lesson. Bye. 2. Requirements : Let us take a look on the requirements for the class. Does dot width, you'll need some graph papers that are so many advantages of using draft papers while you do the buildings, which we'll be discussing in the next lesson. These papers come in various sizes. However, in this class we'll be using a medium sized graph paper. You'll also need some drawing papers to do the main drawing. In this class, I've used ivory sheets or printing sheets for this. Since they are very, they can have a smooth texture. I'm comfortable using them, but the choice is completely up to you. It can also use a sketchbook or any drawing paper, whichever you feel comfortable regarding the drawing paints, I'll be using Pigma Micron of those sizes, 0, 5 and 0 4. You will need dopends, one for the details and one for the main work. You'll also need a pencil and an eraser to do the rough sketch. So that's only about the requirements. Grab your supplies and let's get started. 3. Anyone can draw Buildings: In this lesson, I'm going to teach you all the basics you need to get started with buildings. I'll be taking the simplest example for your better understanding of the church. We are going to start with a charge. You can find that reference photo below the video. Now Let's get started To do this. We will be using graph paper and we'll meet transferring this onto this. So grab your graph paper. Let us move on to the drawing pad. Your fourth step is to determine the length and the breadth of the subject. And we are going to let them mine the measurements in terms of walks is, how do I do this? Just by observing the reference. Let us now concentrate on the land of the church. If you take a closer look at Adobe, six windows, I assume one box Linde for each one of them. So there are six boxes. The first box is much smaller when come back to the rest, but that's okay. It's not lead to show much in the drawing. The boxes I mentioned are about the boxes on the graph. There are some pillows out there and as your one Basland for each one of them so that our code, we do pilus or do losses. And as your runbooks land on either side of the windows. So similarly on the last section is n1 volts land on either side of that window. So plus 2 on this gap, I assume one box or less one after that or either side of the windows, I assume toolboxes each, so that I don't need eight Rawls's do cross for aid. Finally, we got the DOTA lending domes of boxes. According to my calculations that DO the land is about 21 boxes. Now let us try to implement this in our graph paper. And my draft may bias of 0.5 centimeter boxes. First fix a starting point and gown to anyone boxes from that. According to our calculations, this will be the total length of the church. After you draw the beast line, it is concentrate on the last section. Isu malachite or five boxes. And this five boxes hide Louis the same for all the sections. So I'm counting five boxes from the starting point and enjoying a logical line. Similarly, I do another vertical line towards the end. I do is on the line which joins the previous vertical lines. I strongly suggest you have your reference photos side-by-side, so it is easy for you to follow. Leaving one box gap, I make another line for the rectangular section out there. Follow the black arrow marks you see on the screen. It will give you a better understanding. I'm filling all the elements one by one. By now we have almost completed all those main sections. Let us now draw the windows on the church. There are around six windows. I'm Mark horizontal lines to indicate the positions of the windows. And the assumptions we have already discussed few minutes back. So draw all the six windows leaving one or two boxes gap in between them. Assuming the height of the windows to be toolboxes and drawing a dome shape and completing the windows. Once you complete drawing the windows, let us move on to draw the rules. As you observe the picture that I do ruled sections. First a smaller group section, then a larger one. For the smallest section, I assume the height to be three boxes. And for the largest section, I assume the height to be five. Draw a slanting line and join the rules. Similarly on the other side, I know a slanting line on this bar does unwanted, but we will erase it off later. Then I want to draw the last section which bypasses the previous roof. I'm drawing us Guai shape of land, five boxes to complete the last section. Now the lines inside this glide is unwanted. You can get rid of it later. Finally, a DOD drying less shape or seven volts is height mod the center to help you draw the triangle. I'm made to slanting lines on either side to complete the triangle. I make a small slanting line on the bottom for the slope. And connected to the other sections. As you seen that effluence. I draw another slanting line to complete the drawing. Finally, I draw draws on the top. You can do with it at the height of toolboxes, your wish on getting rid of all those unwanted lines from the center. Then I finally made two windows on the top section. One thing you have to keep in mind is that all the measurements and downs of boxes are based on assumptions. So don't be scattered about all those calculations. Just go for it. 4. Transferring the design : Latest stands for the design or do a main paper. To do this, I turn my grid paper upside down and scribbled other side of the paper using a pencil. A good graphite pencil would be working great for this. Scribble then DIA, drawing Bushman. Once you're done, done the paper, and grab your main backbone, do ritual on the sketch to be transferred. In my case, I would like to transfer this design on do an IPO size die with the sheet. Now, place the grid paper above the main paper and start to sketch the outline using a benzyl. Make sure you hold your graph paper very tightly so that he doesn't move. I just go over them died outline using a sharp pencil. Can you guess what is going to happen now? The shop and said Mark Luke, create an impression on the paper that just spend IQ is one of the most commonly used tracing method. Once you're done, remove the graph paper and you are left with this beautiful impression. Now it's time to sketch this drawing using ink bends. And for this, I'm using Pigma Micron size 04. You can either use a ruler or you can go with the hand. If you don't like using lunula, go with the hand. No problem. The only point is you're going to bend this case using old full Pigma Micron. It can do it in any way you want it to be. The next lesson we will bring the building even more alive by adding some D days to it. It's leading the next lesson. 5. Learn to add life to your sketch: Let us add some details to enhance the drawing. I'm using the same vein, 04 Pigma Micron that I used in the previous lesson. I start off by adding some depth to the windows. I go one side of the windows to indicate the shadows. It is all based on the perspective. I assume the subject is in the middle, so 1.5 will have the shadows on the right side and the other half would have the shadows on the left side. So starting from the car, go over the outline on 1.5. You just thickening the outline. Likewise, I enhance the dual windows on the top section. After you complete this, let this dry, adding more details to the Windows. I'm defining the windows even more by adding some boss, do what the gun lines and two horizontal lines. When it comes to the Dells igniters the coin with a reference photo, or you can be creative and move forward angle with the own design. Add the horizontal and vertical lines on all the windows. After that, let us move on to add the base on the roof of the church. And for this, I'll be using 05 of Pigma Micron. I suggested grab your smallest pen for this. Before I move on to add the details, I get rid off all the pencil marks on my paper. I just draw broken-hearted zone, the line solo or the rule for the highlights. I'm drawing the broken lines, alternate them lead to achieve a realistic look. Just using these broken lines. Once you complete this main section more to the side section of the roof and do the same thing. After that. Go for the top section. Now for the other side, turn your paper and draw along the same direction. As you move up, you can make it little bit darker to add some green. I'm making a delegative adapt on the corner also. You can also add some shading to make it even more realistic. And just few lines. On the top section over the corner, I'm adding some shading. I'm drawing field lines and this is called as had chink. And now I'm drawing few lines which bypasses the previously drawn lines. And this draws is God is cross hatching. I'm using the cross hatching method on the roof section, also drawing few bad lines which intersects the previously drawn lines. Cross hatching is a great method to add depth to your drawing. Finally, I draw the ground irregular horizontal line. I'm drawing some grid-like structures here in that derive a realistic look. To die. Here we go, That's all our charge is now ready. In the next lesson, I'll teach you how to resize this, how to make it smaller, and how to make it backup. So I'll see you there. Bye bye. 6. Resizing the Buildings : In this lesson, let us see how to resize are designed. To do this, we change the size of the graph paper. For a larger design, we can go with 0.75 centimeter, the one centimeter graph paper. And for the smaller design, you can go for 0.25 centimeter graph paper. And now let us try to draw the same charge on a smaller graph paper of size 0.25 centimeter. Does I use the same exact measurements that we did in the previous lessons in terms of boxes. If you have the previous graph sketch, you can have in side-by-side, so it is easy for you to follow. This lesson is not about how to draw a building, but it is all about how to resize or building. So I do not go in depth on the mission and side. If you have any doubts, you can therefore, the previous lesson, I have described each and every point clearly. And if you still have any doubts, you can ride on the description box below. And I'll get back to you as soon as possible. The basic idea behind this technique is bat as to book size with 0s. So the bling size also rabies. We use the same exact way Shamans on a smaller graph paper to get a smaller exact copy of the building. Continue drawing the building using those same missions. Now we've got the basic outline for the small devotion of the judge that has dried to transfer this design on the main BBVA. We already had a lead Cinnabon drones footing the designs. I escape to the other side of the graph paper using a graphite pencil. Now, placing the graph paper about the main paper on which you want the design to be transferred. I create an impression all over the design. This will create the trace onto the main paper. Now after you've drawn for the designer can bend new world using a big mom like normal size over for orienting or food choice. Go the pencil marks to create a beautiful outline. And then you add the highlights and other details to bring the building to life. That's all the smaller version of the charges all done. And now your project will be to create a larger version of the same church using points 75 sending me does graph paper. Draft papers of different sizes are easily available on the internet. You can go check out and take a copy of a graph paper and start drawing the same church. This will be the first project for this class. In the next lesson, let us go one step further then try creating some advanced buildings. The bye. 7. Sketching a mansion : I believe you will not have the basic idea to sketch a building. Let us now try to sketch a mansion. You can find the reference for dual below the video. As always, I start by defining the length and breadth of the building, assuming the land to be 24 boxes, I'm drawing the horizontal line. This line covers in total of 20 football says, I'm assuming the breadth of the building, excluding the dog bushing to be dwelled boxes. Same for the other side. Then I joined the two lines to complete the rectangle. Let us move forward with the roofs. I assume the length of the dog bushing to be ten boxes. So I draw a line with ten boxes and I join them on either side. Make sure this line thoughts on the Santa. After that, I move on with the windows. I assume each windows to be four cross three boxes. That is full boxes land and three boxes bread. Use the same machine when Phuc draws three the complete all the windows. All the measurements that I see now are purely based on assumptions, have managed to collect this picture from internet. And I have never seen this building before. I do the measurements just observing the bloodshot and coming with the conclusion. And JS, sometimes your measurements might be wrong, but it doesn't affect your drawing in any way. Even though the measurements can vary a little bit, you'll still have a beautiful building. After you complete joy, the outline for all the eight windows, let us move on to draw the nose. I'm assuming that those to be five cross four boxes, which means five boxes of land and four boxes of bread. For the door, door, I'm assuming it to be four cross four boxes. So full boxes of land and four boxes of bread. Then the dismal want to try and lead Dowell, which is on top. I assume the length of the divot to be ten boxes. And this ten boxes should we measured on the center. So this Davar falls right on the middle. Then I make a small rectangular portion in between the two sections, say of length one box and width ten boxes. On top of the rectangular portion I make four pillars, dopa laws on the corners and two on the middle. But it is still the details later. I'm just drawing the main sections after make the pillars. I'm just observing if I had to make that a little bit more wider to make it attractive. After I'm convinced with the size and moving on to draw formal pillows on the bottom. And these four pillars are going to be exactly below the pillars that we have drawn before. After that and make a horizontal line for the designs on the pillars. Now some of you might have some doubt regarding how much ball should I leave before I draw this line? And the answer is quite simple. It's all based on assumptions. You draw it and you will know it. I'm not going to go much into the details because I want to keep this drawing simple since it is designed for beginners. So instead of giving some more detail the architecture on these areas, I'm just giving some squiggles to keep it simple. And now I move on to the designs which are present or the top section of the doors. I draw a line and I make a bunch of Squires. Then for the Windows Store, do lines on either side to indicate that the windows are open. Then I make a rectangle inside. And they also make three horizontal lines, one on the center and due on either sides. Then two vertical lines. And that's how we will draw a window, follow the same steps and complete all the other windows. Start by drawing two vertical lines for open windows. And the rectangle on the center, three horizontal lines and two vertical lines. I'm making the dog trying load double much more defined, adding some more layers. And finally I do this depths. And for this depth, first start by drawing two vertical lines on either side. And a bunch of horizontal lines that I draw some rough sketch of the bushes on either side of the mansion. And that is due the main sketch layer. I'm just indicating that that awesome bushes out there. I'm just dribbling to indicate the bushes. Complete the windows. And with that, we're done. Follow the same steps as we have discussed and complete all the other windows. I want to draw some fine details on the doors. I draw a center line and the doors and I give some shading. All of these rough, nothing is finalized. Our understanding of how our main drawing will look like, undoing some highlights on the tower. And I also make the small design which you find on the center. Start by drawing the semicircle and divide it into six sections. And then draw an outline outside it. Finally finish off by drawing two rectangles for the chimneys on either side. And with this, we have completed drawing a match. In the next lesson, we will transfer it into the main page and add some details and bring this welding to live. 8. Mansion- Pen Work : Having done the basic sketch like this dance for this design on your main paper. And for this ice cube with the other side of the draft paper, I use a dot graphite pencil for this. Then you tell him the graph paper and place it over the main paper in which you were to transport the design. Please it in the right position and use a paper tape to secure its position. Of dataset PR or the folk or nose trace out the design is no graphite pencil. Make sure your pencil is sharp enough to create an impression. Just go over the entire design and trace out the whole building. We have already discussed in the previous lessons how to transfer the design. So I'm not going much into the details. After you complete tasks putting the design, remove all the paper dates. Here you go. We have the design Now. Let us now bend this. And for this I'll be using 04 of Pigma Micron. We are just going oh, without line using figma like road. Nothing much. If you observe the pencil sketch that is one-to-one line on the bottom of the dog to make it more defined and making some layers approximately, I made around three layers on the bottom of the roof. Then just go with the rest of the design. Again, I define the center rule fault. So by adding some more layers, I'm drawing another triangle inside out. One. We have not drawn all these details on the basic sketch, but as we move along the main sketch, we're just making it more defined by adding all these details so that the budding constant life. Then moving on to the design which is on the same day, I first DOD withdrawing or semicircle. Draw another semicircle inside it. Find the center divider design into five to seven potions as by your genes. I move on to the rectangular structure which divides the win-loss again and made few layers to bring the building to live. You're not just going more with the design and also adding some details to bring the building to life. And it is not that you have to just follow what I do. Again, go with your own design and do your own details. It is up to you. Then I draw the pillars and gives him designs on top of it to make it more attractive. I just draw a small rectangle on top of the bill loss. This will give a ring-like appearance to it. Complete the other pillows following the same steps. Then I move on to draw the designs which connect the laws. I start by drawing a couple of sleeping lines between the, the loss by door will fall on the center. So I omit the sleeping lines on the center. Then I draw some squiggles to make it more attractive. I just pulled the space with these curves. Then I move on to draw the doors. The door is going to get a small design on top of it. I'm drawing a bunch of boxes on top of the door. Do the same thing on the other door, also. The placenta line. Then I move on to draw view lands on either side of the door that I sketched the chimneys up there. After that is dotted draw the windows. Regarding the windows, I just go with a little bit of layers to make it more attractive. And Riyadh SDK. Just go with the benzene mocks. Did I make the stems which reaches to the house? I make a box and fill it with lines. I begin the two corners of this DAG case to represent the handle. We have almost completed the building. We will do the bushes and the shading the next lesson, Bye bye. 9. Mansion- Details and Shading : Let us do the bushes now. I'm using the same bin, Pigma Micron or four. I've made or broken lines or without line. I draw an irregular line near the top end of the Bush. I fill the lower part and dilute with these broken lines. I'm trying to portray the lower pod to have shadows and also dens. So I'm making a lot of mock makings on the lower end and on the top bar and made the bad Don's less bans by just giving its presence here in that I make some lovemaking. Following the same steps, do the bush on the other part. Then I take a look on my drawing to observe what more to be added and completing the doors behind the pillows. Like so. Then grab the smallest Ben you have for the shading part, I'm using 05 of Pigma Micron for the shading. I just make some slanting parallel lines or lower the door. This draws is called as hatching. Now I draw some lines perpendicular to the lines drawn before and this process is called as crosshatching. This will create depth and dimension to our project. Similarly, I shade the other door, also, follow the same steps and complete the shading part. Once you finish shading, the noisy can move on and she moved Windows also. I add them to the windows by folding the same hatching and crosshatching techniques we discussed before. Shade all the windows like how I do it, no. And then I move forward and add some details to the chimneys, adding some ring-like structures or the dog doing the shading part. Then I use the same hatching metadata shade the pillows also. I draw this landing lines over one side of the laws. This is to indicate the shadows. Once you finish shading the bid laws, let us move more to add some details on the roof. Just like how we did the roof of the church and doing the roof of this match. And also I draw some closely bad panel horizontal lines. Starting from one end, I move towards the center. As they moved was a center. Slowly take my pen off the paper. So you'll get a beautiful transition. And once he completed, you can do the cross hatching on the roof part also. I'm going to finish the drawing with some palette horizontal lines over the building. Starting from one corner of the building, I'm drawing a line which connects the entire building. Likewise, I draw a few more lines to make it attractive and organized. That's how we convert a basic sketch into an architectural drawing. Building a small, attractive and more lively. Now, please stay on with me a few more minutes to discuss the class project. See you in the next lesson. Bye. 10. Class Project: We have now come to the end of the class. Thanks for taking my class and they hold my class was super helpful for you in creating these architecture doodles. Let us now discuss about the class project. Your project will be to practice all the techniques we discussed in the class. Once you're familiar with all the methods we discussed, then you try drawing a monument. You can use the Internet to grab a nice reference for DOE and try drawing the building using the techniques we discussed in the class. I know it might look scary, but trust me, once you are familiar with the basics, you can draw any building of your choice. So what are you waiting for? Grab your penance titled draw your own building. It's okay if you first try doesn't turn out great, Just try practicing it again and again. And finally you'll get it. If you have any doubt in any part of the class, feel free to contact me. You can just put a message below the video in the description box and I will get back to you as soon as possible. Also shy of feedback, it would help me create better at losses in the future. Last but not the least shy of projects, I would love to see them by Thanks for taking my class again, Have a nice day.
