3. The Supplies you will Need: here are the out supplies that you will need to create your painted denim clothes, a choke pen or pencil, a range of different colors of acrylic paint. It doesn't matter what brand I have lots of different brands, and they will work fine fabric medium to use to mix in with the acrylic paint. This is the most important thing. A terror of pallets. You can use a normal palette if you want. I just refer to use this. Lots of different paintbrushes, different sizes, anything that you will want to use. And then you also want to have a paint burst that you don't mind ruining when you mix equal it pain on fabric medium on. Then you need some water as well to clean your brushes. I use this denim clothing that you want to paint for your class project. I'm going to talk you through later on in this car's how you can find these pieces. Cardboard to protect the inside of your clothing on the surface is you're going to paint on ahead. Try to speed up the drying time off your paint. Old clothes to wear that you don't mind ruining with fabric paint in case you get any on you and then an eye into secure your masterpieces at the end of this class.
4. Where to find Denim Clothing: see, of course, this class, because you want to learn how you can paint on denim clothing, however, you are going to need to find some denim clothing that you can paint on. There are many different places that you can find denim pieces of clothing you may have not even thought off, so I'm going to give you my tips off where you can find the best pieces of denim clothing. Most of these places, I will mention you're going to find some amazing denim pieces for a really, really cheap bargain, and they don't even have to be second hand. You can get denim jackets brought new justus cheap. A second hand jackets. I have found some jackets with under £3 of for which were brand new, so you can definitely do it if you know where to look, you can find a brand new, never worn before denim jackets on eBay as deep hope. They are probably my favorite places to look for them. You can get them without tags or with tag. I always find that piece of clothing that have attacked tags removed are always a little bit cheaper than the world that still have the tags. But that doesn't necessarily mean that. Then, no, you. So make sure you search for a condition new without tax on eBay and then on deep pop, you need to search for new without tags on. You can grab a bargain that way, but you can also find jackets that aren't still new with tags. It just tends to be the jackets without the tags are that little bit cheaper if you wanted to. You can also go set for second hand jackets on these places as well, and you'll be to get them for even less. But as I personally sound my jackets to other people, I prefer to buy new jackets just a little bit cheaper than what you'd want to shop, because I want to keep my costs down as low as possible to work and then go and sell my jackets to customers at a cheaper price or the least the cheapest price I possibly can. So I think it's important to consider that as well. If you're selling to other people, would be happy given second hand jackets for for our new jackets. I prefer selling brand new jackets. However, sometimes that I have bought secondhand pieces that I have kept for myself on. If you want to sell second hand jackets that these fine as well, I just personally don't like to do that. Other want to make sure that my customers getting a broadening product that no one's ever worn before. If you don't mind your denim pieces being second hand, that you can also track places like thrift shops of entirely shops, and you can try and grab a bug in there, though I think they tend to be a little bit more expensive than eBay and deep pop. So just keep that in mind. But it might be worth having a look anyway. In charity shops, you can find pieces that still have tags on and have never been one as well. So that is it also a good place to look if you want to find something new. But that is a lot harder to come across then on eBay, where you can instantly, such all the millions of sellers on their where is your little bit more restricted when it comes to what charity shops have on offer. If there are any pieces that you have at home that you just don't wear that much because you don't like them or you just have too many items that kind of similar. So they kind of get forgotten about Why don't you paint on them? That would be a really cool thing to do. You can make a piece batter and give it another life. I'm create something new that you will wear out of it. So now you know where you could buy your debt and clothing. It is now time to get designing on trying it to plan out. What you going to paint on your denim clothing?
5. Coming up with Designs: Now we've got our Denham canvas. It is time to start planning out our design. You need to consider that different things that such as the placement off the jacket, your skill level of what you can and can't paint, where you actually want to paint on the jacket, the style and the shape off the jacket on the colors that you want to use. I've painted on pattern denim jacket before, and he kind of needed a more simpler design or something that will match with the colors. The jackets. Already our placement is very important. I tend to paint on the back off my dad and jackets and then at the front. I might also do a little bit of a design to if I feel like a reasonable space. However, if you're painting on something like a damn dress or some jeans or any other kind of item, you need to think about where would work best, especially when you're wearing it. How well it fits on your body. Andi, how will it look? Once it's on you just get shot? My designs for my dad and pieces I use a chalk pen or pencil to sketch it out. This is a great way to mark out where you want your designed to be. It doesn't need marks behind because it's just talk it will eventually just brush off on is a great way to plan everything out. I usually do a sketch first before we go into painting to make sure that everything looks OK. And I'm happy with the placement. No, you've got your sketch, Don. It is time to go on, get painting.
6. Painting on Denim: So now we are ready to paint in all denim clothes to start off with you on your denim jackets to be clean and freshly washed. Even if they aren't you, you want to get that leftover die out of them that might still be stocked with him. Once you've cleaned your clothes, gather your art supplies together. I prefer painting on the floor as it gives me a big space to work. So I put Kabul down to protect the floor. You're saying to put cardboard in between your close to retake the pain from going through to the other side. This could happen and you don't want to ruin the front of your clothes. Then you want to get your child pencil on. Draw out your design onto your clothes. I am drawing some skulls with different shapes around them on because I thought they had worked really well with this striped jacket and then you want to get your fabric medium and your paint. You want to get 50 50 off each, and you want to mix them together really well. The fabric medium turns your paint into fabric paint so it will stay on. Won't be washed off. As you can see here, I'm putting down a first layer off white paint with white paint. You do have to do several layers of it, but if you want something to be really bright and stand out, you want to make sure that you do use white paint first. Because otherwise the painting will kind of disappear into the background of your Daniel clothing piece. Eso here. As I am doing white skulls, I have to put on a few coats of white. So I had the white base and then white paint on top of that, and then I wanted the roses to be read. So I put a white base down and then on top, I will eventually go over the top on and paint them red. I had a lot of fun painting this jacket. I really like how it came out. I wanted to do something that was kind of cool and a little bit off there. I didn't want it. Just toe have one ministrations in the middle of it, so this jacket is shaped like a leather jacket, so I want to have a really cool, grungy kind of design on the back of it. As you can see here I am painting the red paint directly onto the black jacket. This is because I want the red to be a little bit faded on. Blend in with the background, and I don't want it to be bright and stand out head drives a super. You sought to get your design dried quickly. I find that the fabric media makes the acrylic paint take a long time to dry. So ahead, right really speeds up that process, especially when you want to add on a second layer of paint. So for the butterfly wings, I am painting them in white again. This is because I want to paint them in gold, and I wanted the gold to really stand out against the red. I am so happy with how this came out, and I definitely think is one of my favorite denim designs I have done before. So for this one, I am drawing on Cem Momma jeans. You can see that this time I have just used a normal piece of red chalk to do this. This is because when I was using my wife short pencil, it just wasn't showing up as the trousers were a little bit too light. So in the end, I had to use a standard chalk piece of chalk. But that doesn't really have a problem. And it does come off just not quite as easy as the chalk pencil does. So for these, I am during skulls that much like I did for the original jacket with some flowers behind it . And this is what they look like when they're finished. I don't know. Just really cool fun. Um, para jeans. They're a little bit different. In the next lesson, I will show you how to make sure the fabric paint is super super secure to the denim clothes.
7. Securing the Paint/Design: now we finished painting on your down in pieces. It is time to finish them off and secure your final designs. To secure the pain to the denim, you need to use heat and pressure. So what you need to do is each has hired your piece of clothing inside out on. Do you want to iron over the top of the item that has the paint on? But before you do this, you need to make sure that the denim jacket is 100% dry. Sometimes ik of the paint can feel a little bit sticky even a few days after you finish painting. This means that it's not fully dried yet, so you need to wait until that stickiness is gone. This depends on how much paint you applied to your piece. If you put it on quite thickly, it may take a little bit longer, but usually I recommend waiting 3 to 5 days on. Usually it takes about three days, but you might wanna just leave it a little bit longer if it's still not quite there yet. You don't want to end up ruining your hard work. So for after care, if you want to wash your jackets. For whatever reason, I recommend washing your down on pieces on a low temperature. If you want to wash in the washing machine, it's absolutely fine to wash in the washing machine. Your design won't fade. A what? Peel off. It won't come off. The pain is on that now.
