2. Materials Required: way and welcome to part one off the Siris on how to make a cloth doll. In this part, you will learn how to make a body blank for your door. This requires very simple sewing techniques. You do not have to be a professional. Let's begin. Let's start with our materials that we need for this particular part of the course. We start with sewing machine. You only need a very basic sewing machine. You're only going to do a straight stitch and sew. Any simple sewing machine will do next. For your body parts, you need fabric in your color choice for skin material, it must be ST She, at least in one direction, does not have to be a two way stretch lining pin to draw art your pattern onto your fabric . A small, crushing needle, a pattern which you will be able to download. A. Pdf, a good pair of scissors, some pins and some good stuffing, as well as thread in the color off your skin material
3. Step 1: The Body Pattern: we're going to make a dole body blank. These are very simple body blanks. Notice we are not dealing with intricacies off tres and fingers that are making a very simple body blank. From there, it is up to your imagination to do what you want to make your dole as beautiful as possible . Full This Croft we need. It's a nice stretchy material, all right? It doesn't have to be double way stretch oniy One way stretch. We are going to end up with a body that we want to be able to hold and squeeze, and that the child can all adult, can hold in their hands. You need some pens, a line, a pen or pencil, whichever works for you. Nice pair of scissors, the pattern which will be attached in a pdf and some stuffing. You will also need a sewing machine. But you don't need anything to fancy. You could just use a straight simple lan on your sewing machine, right? Let's begin. First thing you need to do is a catastrophe patent, and you will end up with three simple pieces. This is your body, your leg and your arm. Make sure your material is a folded double. And now we are rich. Begin. The big circle on the pattern is the head. The smaller one is weirdly enough the money. Right, Let's move on. Material and such a piece is down. Now, obviously, you're going to do more than one leg. You'll do to off the arm and the leg, but only one cut out off the body. Simply hold your pattern down and trace around it. You don't have to be true specific about this. Nobody is going to actually see your line. His hand. Like I said, I don't have to be to specific. All right. And the leg. Let's put it this way. Not use up to material. Too much material. Quick and easy. Now we can eat. You do another leg and another hand, right? Couldn't be simpler. It is your pattern ready to be cut out. And so in together, put a pin through your material in each body pot just to hold in place while you So all right, now we're not going to cut around the lines at the stage. We're gonna actually cut around the pieces all together. This is actually going to make it so much easier to serve and trying to catch the edges when you are sowing. But now we already for the sewing machine.
4. Step 2: Sewing Machine: All right, now we're ready to. So, as I said, the large part off the body here is actually the head, so we're gonna start sowing at the head. What I want to do is not sure that line when we turn the body. So we are going to put the foot off the sewing machine with in the boundaries. We're gonna use the edge off the line with the outer edge off the foot, and we're gonna so around, it's just a straight line again. Nothing fancy, but quiet again. Notice, huh? The outside edge off the foot is along the line off the body. That is your guide. When you reach the top of the head, stop sewing. You do not want to close this. You need to be able to turn the body and to stuff it. So we're not actually going to sew along the top line of the head, right? Initial, and you are finished with being body. Right now, we're going to move on to the legs and the hands this time, instead of using the outside edge off the foot to follow the line of the pattern on the outside, you're going to take the inside off the foot and put it along that line. All right, let's do a leg as an example. Right inside. Edge against the line. That is your god inside edge against the line of the pattern. And but all right, again, we're not sewing the top edge closed because we're going to want to stuff the foot end, turn it as well. So we end off and we finished one foot already. Okay, The second foot again. Inside edge against the line. This is so that when we turn the material the wrong way around, we're not going to see a black mark on the outside of the foot way. Remember to leave the top edge open. You don't have to be panicky about being specific here. You know, if you pull, hold your two hands together. Neither two hands are like if you put your two feet together, they're not exactly like you do not have to get this absolutely specific, right? And finally into the most intricate part, the hands again. We're going to use that inside edge to do the hands. And we are not sewing the top edge closed. All right, let's good try and get that some shape in there because it does define the fingers. If you actually want to show fingers into the hand, that is easy enough. Once you have stuffed the door and I will show you how to do that right and one more part to go one lost hand and we're practically finished showing our body blank together. Remember, be careful with the some. You do just want that little bit of definition does give a bit of character to the hand, right? We're all sewn together, and it's time to cut out, tune and stuff my body.
5. Step 3: Cutting and Turning: Okay, so we're onto our next step. You've done probably the most difficult part, which is to actually get sewing. Done. Now it is Trimble far threads. I don't mean those. Just get in the way again. Don't be too fussy about it. I'm going to disappear anyway. All right, now we're going to take our scissors and trim along this serving. So dream quite close to the sewing. You don't have to follow the line that follow just outside the line off serving Onda. We all go into get that done as neatly in this trim Lee as possible. The stoppage of the head. We are going to follow around just inside the line. You need a little bit for when we are sewing that talking head together, right? Is our body blank section done now on to the limbs. It's no specific way to do this. Just whatever's comfortable fear. And as with the body, we just trim as close to sewing as possible without cutting through it right legs and arms . Once you have done this a few times, it won't be too worried about that. Macy Ages. They're all going to be turned inside, and they will not be seen. The main thing is just to get a nice slim edge close to the sewing, so that when you turn old body inside out, you're not left with too much bulk. All right? And there we all my body is ready to be turned and stuff, right. We're onto our next step, which is to turn and stuff the dolls for turning small pieces like this. People often use their own special tools. I simply use a very small crow Shea Hook, which is a 1.25 millimeter, that whatever suits you to tune the pieces. In truth, the body is fairly simple. Always start them. The rest of it's a little frustrating. Um, use the crow. She hook just to hook in and pull out the material and we turn it inside out. No, you will see that there are no black lines, and suddenly it all looks neat and clean as compared to these edges in that marvelous her hands and feet to another story altogether, Not quite as easy. And this is why I recommend stretching material as well, because just makes life a little easier. Notice hook in and just use it to pool the material out, Then use the back of the hook inside and we push our little hand out. See how tiny that little thing is? A little frustrating sometimes, but if you use the hook to get into the weave off the material, you can't eventually just pull things through and then pushed the balance. Not the end. Right, And we've turned up nobody Pots. Next step is going to be to stuff the door.
6. Step 4: Stuffing: all right, next is stuffing. I like to use this particular stuffing because it's nice and stuffed the little balls I find to be difficult to handle. But some people do use them, and they actually do feel quite nice in the hand when you have the doleful Lee stuffed. But this is my choice, and all you have to do is push the stuffing in us and for me again with your crush a hook if you want to, just to get it down into the body. Now remember again this bottom section here is actually the body. I know that seems a bit strange, but you see how it all works out perfectly and you keep going until your body is full. Now, when you get to the next section off the dole, this nice, narrow section coming into the head, you do want to keep that nice sensitive. The reason. While we do that, it's that that you don't have your head flopping backwards and forwards don't be scared to push. You're stuffing in. You see how it's nicely filling out your body here, that flatter and your neck nice and firm, and our into the head Now I like my little dolls to have a nice round face. So I do around that out quite nicely. Maybe a little bit more. You want to? You want to have a decent amount to surge to the top off the head together that you can figure out how big you want that had to be at the end of the day. All right, no more. Do you like that body to be nice and firm, so I do tend to fill it court Solidly. All right, there we go. There's our whole body into the dole head. I'm not gonna sew together. Kouachi it. I'm gonna carry on and do the feet in the hands in the same manner. Just pushing down. You're filling until you're satisfied that you have the correct fullness of each land again . This crochet hook is an absolute Boone. I think it works an absolute treat. Notice. I'm using the back of the Croshere hook, not the front, and push right down into the toe. Immediately. The turf falls out. - You can see as we are filling Legace pushing out beautifully now compared to that, and you can just keep pressing the filling around until you're happy with how it is pushing going to foot. Because I like to be able to put boots on to my dolls and they need a phone for toe, hold it in place, and then we've got just enough at the top. Push it down firmly, and that will be turned in and ready to be certain closed. But continue with the rest of the levels way almost done. What I'm doing here is just comparing the hands. I want them generally the same ish size, and so you must try and keep your stuffing level on the hands as close together as possible . You want to keep the length and the sickness as close to each other as possible again. They don't have to be perfect simply to make them look as normal and natural as possible. Right, there we go. We've got two hands, two feet and don't body were ready to show it together and close everything up
7. Step 5: Sewing Closed: we were on to our final step here, which is to so the body parts closed and assert them all together. You need a normal serving needle and thread and we'll start with the head and a turn in just a Ted on the upper section here and just do a double stitch to begin with. Make sure it's not since, um, now, remember that this is going to be under the hair and again, you don't have to be incredibly persnickety about it, right? And we're going to go around the age pulling it closed like a bag remembering to turn in the top edge as you go Fold it down. This gives it a bit of strength and finishes things off properly. You can see we are already gathering in him. Make small stitches Nothing too big and be firm. But don't break its trade right to almost round beginning again. Join up with the first stitch. No, just gather everything close together. Hold it in place and double stitched to hold. Now this it'll send to peace. You're gonna collect from each side over the top just a smidge to close the top Ege finish off with a double stitch in place and we are done with our dole body. You go now. You can see how this pattern I've cut a bit longer. This one of cut a bit drowned it. This is again, your choice and your vision off. What you want your dole to look like at the end of the day, says a long, skinny girl and this is a short round one onto the limbs. Gonna take a top of me foot and just push inside these two top folds. Nice and firmly pushed them in. Right? You can see we put an ass clean age. They and we just over so right it will do the same. Both feet and the same four first hands end up with your top stitches looking just like that hands, Same principle applies. Push in the top edges firmly and so closed. Right? Once you have done that, we're going to get onto placing the hands and the feet onto the body to finish things off.
8. Step 6: Attaching the Parts: how final step is to put our feet in our hands onto body we're gonna end up with is a full dull template with which we can make our own dream doles. First things first is the arms. Right now we're going to take our hands and at them a tour bundles. We start with the arms. I put them quite high up the neck because I like them to have a bit of a shoulder going on there and again. Just start with a double sewing thread in there nice and firm, and we're gonna catch into the body and out onto the arm. Remember that your thumb will be facing the throne front, so thumbs up. All right, make sure that when you put your second arm on that same thing applies sums up and I have put the arm sort of halfway across the neck line here on the side of the body. Sewing it firmly just was a hook in to the body and hook into the arm itself. Here's your thumb to hold things in place and finish off with a double loop of straight again was your double stitch. Make sure that you you're happy that the army is on firmly enough, right? And you will do the same for the second arm. Now we come to the legs. I tend to put them slightly up into the waste again. We are now working with hips, and it makes their legs look nice and short like a little child, right? Makes it very cute when they are finished. Same thing applies as with the arm. Start with a double stitch and keep going across the foot. Obviously the toes pointing forwards finishing off with a double stitch. Make sure your leg is on firmly and that you're happy without been stitched right. And then you would simply add on the second arm and the second leg to your body and end up with your door blank, ready for it. Face some here and some clothing.
