3. Motivation, Discipline & Quitting | Day 0: Hi and welcome to day 0 of the seven day blogging challenge. The reason why I decided to come up with the day 0 of this challenge is to give you an extra dose of motivation to continue blogging or starting a blog if you don't have one already. And here you're going to learn a couple of different reasons why you should start blogging and how you can do it successfully. And in this video, I've got three main points to share. The first is related with the why. So why should you start blogging? Like, why should you start writing and publishing your own pieces of content online? Like what is that going to bring you? The second I'm going to cover in today's video is all about to discipline. So why does discipline play such an important role in the process of blogging? And hopefully I'm going to give you some insights that can help you to maintain this practice for a long time. And finally, in the third, I'm going to teach you how to not give up. And I don't want to sound too negative here because I tried to be optimistic. But the reason is blogging is hard and a lot of people give up along the process because it's not immediate results. You don't need God, like you publish a blog post and you immediately get fuse or you immediately get Commons. It's not the way it works and it's a very tough journey. And hopefully I'm going to share with you some tips that have helped me to get up every time I felt okay. So let's start with the first. Why should you block from a personal perspective? Logging is just a way of sharing your ideas, your passions, your strategies online. It's not much different to when we talk with a friend about something we did or we learned, or what do we simply post an IG story? Blogging is just a way of communicating. And the difference is we do it online rather than doing it personally. Back in 2016, I started reading a lot of personal development books and books on the process of how to learn and how to study effectively. And I become, I became completely obsessed with this whole world. And so because I was seeing the results that these books were having on me, on my professional life, personal life, and so on. I had this necessity to share what I was learning with the world. And that's basically when my blog was born in 2016. And with just the main goal of sharing my insights in lessons with the worlds and debt was not for sure. The first time I started sharing stuff one line. Back in 2012, me and my best friend, we're learning how to do makeup. And we decided to create a YouTube channel. So we both started a YouTube channel teaching people how to do their own makeup. Now, I'm not saying we were good at it because we were not. But at least we're sharing our passion with the world because that's something that we humans have a deep necessity to do it. And if we don't do it online, we usually do it with friends, with our partners and so on. This is the reason I always say if there is something that you really loved to do, something like a passion of yours, a hobby, your job, whatever. You can always start a blog because log is a way of communicating and sharing your own experiences, lessons, strategies with the world. It's a fascinating journey. And not only will you be helping others, but two, you also help yourself into process of writing because you refine your ideas, you refine your strategies and you'll learn to think more in depth about the things you are teaching. Now from a professional perspective, having a blog can turn into a measurable opportunities that you can't even think about right now. So let's say you are an engineer and you have just finished your bachelor's degree and you're super-excited to get a job. But you know that to competition is very hard to beat and you're having trouble to get a job. But you are very passionate about a certain topic in the field of engineering. And you decide to start a blog sharing your own experiences, the things you have learned in str1. So when submitting your job application, you must refer your log because that will give you a competitive advantage over other candidates. And the reason is simple. A think about how many of your friends of the people you know, have a block. You probably have 123, or even none of those people that have a block. So you can see already from this how special that can make you, especially in a way that it will make you different and that will make you stand out from the crowd. Now, I can guarantee you that when I started blogging, I didn't even think about this possibility. I did not start a blog based on my professional aspirations. But A few years later to 35 years later, I can see the immense results that has had has on my life because I'm seeing a lot of opportunities coming through my block and because of my blog, I've also earned a scholarship that allowed me to pursue a master's degree. And that was just because I have different projects, including my block that differentiated me from other candidates. And finally, from a business perspective, having a blog can really make you stand out, especially if you are the face of your business. So let's say you are an independent consultant, a dentist, or a hairdresser. When you have a blog where you share your insights, tips with the public and stuff. People will recognize you as an expert in the field. And so you will have a much larger opportunity to get new clients and get people to know you, and don't think that sharing information for free will damage your revenue. In fact, it's basically the opposite because when people see you share content for free and you have no problem helping others, they will trust you and for sure they will prefer your services are over other people. And these are the three main reasons why you should start blogging from a personal perspective, a professional one, and from a business side. So I hope I gave you enough reasons to start. And if you already have a walk, I hope I refreshed your mind for the many possibilities that running of walk can have in your life. Now if you remembered, we have three main topics to cover on this first video. Now we're moving on to the second one, which is how to build discipline into the blogging process. Now, blogging is not much different from any other habit like meditating, journaling, exercising, and so on. The sooner you make it a habit, the easier it will be for you to publish blog posts consistently. So for you this can be writing every day 300 words, or maybe writing on Fridays for the whole afternoon. It does not matter as long as you make it a habit and you stick to it. You will have the discipline and you will have most importantly the content published. So in order to help you become more discipline in the practice of blogging, I'm going to share three main tips that have helped me to stay consistent on the habit of publishing blog posts. Now the first step is deciding which will be your content strategy plan. And basically this just means how often are you going to publish a blog post? It's very important that you commit beforehand to one specific goal. You can be posting one blog post every week or one blog post every day. It does not matter. Which matters is you have the goal and you stay consistent with it. And I can tell you that for a couple of years, I did not have this goal in mind. So some weeks I would publish three blog posts, and in the next two weeks I would publish none. And the reason was because I did not have a specific goal. But the soon I decided that I wanted to post one blog post every week. I just was able to be consistent because I knew exactly what I had to do every week. The second tip for becoming consistent in your discipline of publishing. A blog post is deciding when you will be publishing. Now, as important is, is to have a routine in which you know exactly how many posts you're going to publish. It's very important that you decide beforehand when those posts are going to be published. So in my case, I publish my blog posts on Sunday at 11 AM. And I always scheduled blog posts to that date. And it really helps to have a day to find because that creates some anticipation in your audience and it also helps you to stay consistent. And finally, the tip is deciding you're writing a goal. Now that you have a day of the week in which you will post and the number of posts you're going to polish on a weekly basis. You must decide when you are going to get those posts. Then that is when are you actually going to sit down and start writing? It's crucial to decide if you're going to write every day, every week, on a particular day, it does not matter, but this will help you to establish the consistency of writing. And that's, that's basically the secret to posting every week or every month or every day. Now, I could easily give you many more steps to help you on this journey, but these three are the most important ones. First, you must decide a publishing goal, say posting every week. Second, you must define your publishing schedule. Like you're going to publish one blog post on Saturday at 10:00 PM. And finally, you must decide you're writing goal in this basically means when you are going to write, is it every day, 300 words, or every Saturday for the whole afternoon? And finally, the third topic on this video is, how can you avoid quitting? And again, I do not want to sound pessimistic, but there's a high chance when you start something that you will give up on that something. Especially in the beginning when you're not used to the whole process into a whole discipline that it is required. And I can easily say that blogging is hard. It requires commitment, discipline, motivation in a lot of hard work. And I have certainly felt the need to give up many times. Thankfully, I did not give up and I've learned many lessons along the way that I hope will help you to stay with this habit that is blogging and this whole experience that is worth it for short, the first strategy for not giving up is remembering the reason why you started. We have previously talked about the reasons why you should block for personal reasons, professional ones, and if you have a business. So it might help you to continuously remember the reason why you started. Is it because you want to advance your business? Is it because you want to get a new job? Or is it simply because you love to share stuff into things you love with other people. So use this initial reasons to make you continue on this process. Even if you need write them down and keep them in your desk every time you go, right? And this can really help you to stick with the plan. The second tip to avoid quitting blogging is to use productive days to generate different pieces of content. Here's the thing. Most of the days when I felt like quitting were days when I was supposed to be writing, but I did not have time or I was sick or I was in those days when I just don't have the motivation. And because I knew that if I did not write, I was going to fail my schedule. I just felt terrible and I felt like giving up. But for some reason, I've been able for the past year to stick to the calendar and not fail any deadline. And the reason why this happened was because I learned to take advantage of very productive days to generate more than one blog posts to publish. And the reason why this is helpful is because in those days when you just can't even imagine writing, you had the least have another blog posts to publish that will help you to stay on track of the calendar. So the key is using those productive days when you feel energized and motivated to generate additional pieces of content to publish in those days when things are just not easy. The third tip for not giving up is taking breaks. Now I'll do, I love writing. I also benefit a lot from taking breaks from time to time. In fact, it happens that when I return from the break, actually feel which weren't inspired and motivated to continue riding into right different pieces of content. So what I highly recommend you is to take some times one week off or two weeks off, and just use that time to energize yourself to do the things. Are there other things that you like? And, you know, just don't worry that much about blogging for those two weeks. If you can schedule of blog posts for those weeks when you're not going to be actively working on them, it's even better because you're not going to fail the schedule. And finally, the fourth tip, and perhaps one of the most important ones is move on it. Seriously, it is completely normal. If you fail 12 or three times a blog post in a row, it's a journey and we learn to master the journey with time, with failures. You know, it's not a linear one and you should not expect perfectionism form yourself, because you will certainly fail. You will certainly do things that you regret. But the most crucial thing is accept the failure and move on. Continue you in your journey and don't give up just because you failed some time. And well, I really hope these tips will help you on your journey of being a blogger or continue being a blogger. And I see you tomorrow in the first day of the challenge.
4. Turn one blog post into many | Day 1: Hi and welcome to day one of the seven day blogging challenge. I hope you are motivated and continue to make progress on this journey. In today's challenge, I'm going to share once.
5. Use Existing Content on the Web | Day 2: Hi and welcome to day two of the seven day blogging challenge. I'm really excited to continue on this journey with you. And today will be the first day in which the challenge will be for you to create a blog post that you can later publish. Now, you have probably experienced the pressure of creating something unique every time you decide to publish a blog post. And I've certainly felt that same pressure many, many times. But the thing is, we don't have to be so different after all, at least every time because that's very tough and that's very challenging to challenge ourselves to create something completely different every week. Fortunately, you don't need to be the single creator of your blog posts. Actually your leaders appreciate too, when you grab an idea that someone else invented and you teach them that idea because some of them will never have heard about it. And because you are an expert in your field, you can share different ideas, different strategies, different methodologies that you have learned with all their authors and creators, and you share those same ideas with your readers. So I have written about the Pomodoro technique, which is a technique that can help you to stay focused and productive for a period of 25 minutes. And I am for short and not the creator of that technique that's been talked about for many, many years and people spreading across the web. And even though there are many multiple blog posts about it, that did not prevent me from creating a blog post about the Pomodoro Technique. And I don't claim that that was my idea or my strategy. I simply state exactly what it is, who invented it, and then I add my own twist, the things I'm doing it to implement the lessons I've learned with that implementation and so on. So I bring an idea that is not mine, but I edit my own insights, my own taste, and I basically help my readers implement this strategy in their own lives. And I can totally guarantee you that your readers will appreciate that you bring other ideas and strategies from other people, but you add your own taste, they will certainly love it. Now, here's another example. Let's say you write about investments, but you have had some trouble coming up with different insights every week. What you can do is using existing content on the web, like some Warren's Buffett comments or some of the latest investment news. And you can simply grab that information quoted in your website and then make some comments. Add your own taste at your own tips and so on. And from that, you will have a single blog post created from an initial type of content that was not your own. And of course, this is not about stealing other people's ideas. This is just grabbing their insights, using them in your block and then adding your own taste. And so I really hope I have convinced you that this strategy is incredibly powerful to generate multiple blog posts from initial ideas that are not your own. And to be consistent with this practice, I highly recommend you to be constantly on the lookout for different ideas and strategies on the topic you are writing about. I use a Google Chrome extension called Pocket, which basically allows me to save blog, posts, articles, books, and so on into, into this extension. And then from there, I can have different insights and ideas to create blog posts. Now for today's challenge, I challenge you to do one thing. So choose one article when strategy you would quote Anything that was created by another person and then create a blog post just about that main idea. And in the end, add your own taste at your own tips, your own strategies. And from there, you will have a single blog post created, ready to be published with your audience. And if you end up publishing it online, make sure you share the link in the discussion below because I really want to read it. Thank you very much for watching and I'll see you in tomorrow's challenge.
6. Get Infinite Ideas | Day 3: Hi everyone, welcome to day 3 of the seven day blogging challenge. I really hope you're making progress and are really learning with this experience. If there is one thing that has helped me to publish blog posts every week is having a very large document with multiple ideas of blog posts to write about. Because let's face it, it's really easy to procrastinate on the writing phase when you don't have any idea of what to write about. So by having this document with multiple ideas to write about, you avoid procrastination. You also guarantee that you have all of your ideas into one place and that you never forget them. Finally, it just makes your whole blogging life much more productive, organized, and consistent, which is basically the whole goal of the blogging challenge. Although this sounds very good in theory, you might be asking, okay, But how can I come up with a huge document with all those ideas to blog about? And I've certainly made that question to myself multiple times in the last years because I did not know where I could get multiple blog posts, ideas. Fortunately, I have found a tool that will really help you to generate, I can say thousands of blogposts, ideas to create for the future. The tool is completely free and you can use it whenever you want to generate blog posts in many different topics. With tool is called Keyword Tool. And I'm going to show you how I can come up with multiple blog posts, ideas. So once you get into the homepage, you type a keyword, enter the main language, and simply write like the topics, so productivity tips. And so then you can have two options. You can select keywords, suggestions, or questions. I usually check both because they have very interesting insights. So as you can see, I already have very different ideas for future blog posts just by making this quick search, productivity tips for procrastinators, productivity tips for working from home, for students, for people with ADHD, for entrepreneurs, and so on. And these are actually very interesting topics and ideas to write about. I only have the free version, but of course you can always upgrade to the pro version and you will have access to search volume CPC and competition, which is particularly useful for SEO or if you're thinking of creating ads. But you can also obtain this information by using Google Keyword Planner, which is also a free tool. And that's basically it. This tool is incredibly powerful and will help you to generate dozens, thousands of blog posts that you can create. And so the challenge for today is this. Choose one keyword that is related with the topic you want to blog about. And come up with five different future blog posts, ideas, and add them on a document. And this document will become the main source of all of your ideas. I really hope that this tool will help you to generate more blog posts and so you will never have to struggle again with that mind that says, you don't have any good ideas. Thank you very much and I see you tomorrow.
7. Feature your Readers in a Post | Day 4: Hi and welcome to day four of the seven day blogging challenge. I'm really thrilled to continue on this journey, especially because today will be one of those days in which you will create another piece of content to publish this time, rather than creating our blog post by your own, you will help the help of your readers. Yeah, that's right. So today's challenge might be a little bit more specific to those who already have a block and an audience. But even if you don't have, I will give you a few extra ideas to still make this happen. Regardless of the topic you teach, you might have received from your audience, emails about their own experience, their story, and they're inspiring numbers that they were able to achieve just by following your advice. So let's say you create blog posts about the recruitment process and you have received the story and inspiring story about someone who got a job just by using your tips. Or let's say you have an investment blog post and you have received an email about the results that person had just by following your tips. So you might have all of these successful stories from your readers that you can feature in your block. So the key thing is finding these stories and then turning them into a blog post that adds value and also show some credibility from yourself. And if you have never received these type of emails, you can simply email directly your readers or ask them on social media to share a specific story that has been particularly helpful for them. Or a blog post that they read from you that help them in a specific outcome. And from that, you can generate a blog post featuring that same story. So this is not only a great way to generate a new blog post, but also a way to interact with your audience, to share their insights, to share their stories, and to create a community that is engaged in the things you publish. But what can you do if you do not have an established audience yet, but you still want to feature other people in our block. What you can do is simply to schedule interviews with experts in your field and then feature those same interviews in your block. So rather than having inspiring stories from your readers, you simply go and ask, are there people in the fields to have an interview with them and then you share all those insights in your block. I have personally have interviewed some people right in the beginning of my blog, and I've learned a lot of lessons with them. And honestly it was just a very interesting experience that you can have. So the challenge for today is to email your readers, ask them to share an inspiring story that they had just by reading a certain piece of content that you published. And if you don't have an audience yet, simply brainstorm five people that are experts in your field and send them an email asking for an interview. I am confident that this is a great way to generate new blog posts without having to come up with all those ideas by yourself. So grab your computer and make these connections right now, and then create a blog post and share in the discussion below because I'm really curious to see what you had come up. Thank you so much for sticking with this challenge. I see you tomorrow.
8. Turn questions into a Post | Day 5: Hi and welcome to day five of the seven day blogging challenge. In today's video, I'm going to share something with you that I believe to be really helpful for your readers while making your work a little bit easier in the content generation, if you have been building an audience for a while, you have probably received some emails with questions that your readers have. And if you're something like me, you have spent many, many time answering that questions in trying to make them as complete and ask particularly as possible because you really want to help your audience. Recently, I've been thinking about another way of doing it. So basically you have the question that your reader asked you and you can turn it into a general block post in which you grab your answer and put it into a blog post too ready to publish. And this is a great way to create value for more than one reader. And if you're just starting out and you don't have any questions, what you can do is head over to Quora and see which questions are there regarding the topics you are writing about. Basically, Quora is a website in which people make questions and other people go there and answer them so you can grab a question and then use that same question in generate a blog post in which you answer the question. So literally you simply go to Quora, write a couple of key words, and you will find a ton of questions that you can answer in this specific blog posts. In fact, I've used this strategy a couple of times. So I generated a blog post, stays cold, productive tips to work from home. Just because I saw in Quora a very interesting question that someone was asking about, how can I be productive and focused when I'm working at home? So I created a whole blog post about that question that no longer just answers that readers question, but also shares that we've all my audience, which can add a much more value for today's challenge. I challenge you to go over to your email and find some questions that your readers have asked you. If you had already answered those questions, you can simply turn them into a full blog post and hit Publish. Or you can simply create the answer into a blog post and then use that link to share with your reader. And if you don't have an audience and you have never received any question, what you can do is go to Quora and find some questions that you can turn into a blog post just by answering them specifically. So you will have another content, another piece of content ready to publish in your block. And I'm really curious to see what you have come up with. So make sure you share it in the discussion of the class. And I see you in tomorrow's challenge.
9. Share something different | Day 6: Hi and welcome to day six of the seven day blogging challenge. I hope you're taking advantage of all of these lessons, tips and strategies and it challenges by themselves to create more blog posts. And remember, the key thing about this is not creating the perfect blog post or creating the perfect blog or the perfect content strategy. The most crucial thing is becoming consistent in the act of publishing a blog post every week, every two weeks or three days a week. It does not matter. The key thing is not letting perfectionism or fear run your block. You are in charge of it. And I really hope that this challenge is helping you to make progress in honestly just make progress because that's the most crucial thing in the long run. Until now, we've been focusing on creating blog posts based on your niche, that is, on the main topic that you're constantly sharing stuff about. But if there's one thing I've learned is that sometimes your readers appreciate you sharing your particular insights about a very different topic. This can be another passion of yours or simply something you are struggling with. There's nothing to do with the main topic of your block. And the reason why it's interesting to share this other side of you. It's because you are able to create a more authentic relationship with your readers. And this is very meaningful to build a sustainable audience for the future. And of course, the 99 percent of people who say stick to your niche is super crucial. I also think that, that 1% of, you know, sometimes going a bit off topic and sharing something different. It's also a great way to create a much more interesting blog than just writing about the same things over and over again. So sometimes sharing something that is completely out of the box also differentiate your blog in that blogging sphere. Because if you always write about the curation, if you just shared something about your past, about what makes you a good decorator or any of that. That would also bring a different perspective to your blog into your readers. And if you have never tried it, I highly recommend you to do so. And I know it's a bit scary. I've personally shared a couple of blog posts about struggles. I have min, mental health, anxiety, and some much darker phases of my life. And of course, it's not comfortable and it's difficult to share that. But at the same time, those posts, you know why? I've got a couple of emails that went from that people sharing their own struggles and telling me that that was an important piece of content, a read because it helped them to process their emotions too. So I'm not saying you should only share darker things or whatever. What I'm trying to say is that this helps to build a meaningful connection with your readers because they got to see a different side of you. And if you're not yet convinced about this, think of all those people you really admire. So when I think about the productivity and blogging sphere, I can think about Tim Ferriss. And Tim Ferriss is an incredible human being that has so many stuff to teach. But he also shared a lot about his struggle with mental health, depression, and even suicide. So it's not that he shows his perfect or he's completely incredible. Know he shares and neither side of him. And that's exactly what makes me enjoy him and he's content so much. So believe me when I say that your readers will also enjoys senior neither side of you. And so for today's challenge, I challenge you to create a blog post can be super small about another site of you. You can share a personal story. You can talk about something that you also enjoyed doing besides your niche or any other thing. And of course, you don't need to cross boundaries or anything. You just need to share another side of you. And I'm almost sure that your readers will highly appreciate that. Thank you so much and I see you tomorrow.
10. Tips for Blogging | Day 7: Hi and welcome to day 7 of the seven day vlogging challenge. That is the last day. And in today's challenge, I really hope to provide you some extra value that can really make you thrive in your journey. As a blogger, I'm going to share with you my best tips for improving your journey as a blogger, both in the preparation phase, the writing phase, and also the post publishing phase. Although most people associate blogging with writing and publishing, there is much more than that. And for sure, this will help you to improve the overall process of writing and publishing a post. Okay, so starting with the preparation phase, the first thing is I always start a blog post with a couple of ideas written down. So sometimes these are bullet points, extensive paragraphs, pages of a book. It does not matter, but I always try to not start with a blank page. It's super painful to start with a blank page, especially in those days when you don't feel inspired and you end up looking blank to the blank page for quite a while. So this is my first tip. Make sure you come up with a couple of ideas. You want to refer to your blog posts before starting to write. And this is easily done by writing a couple of bullet points beforehand that contains some of the top ideas you want to mention during the, the second tip for the preparation phase is our recommend you to keep track of all your ideas for future blog posts in the same place. This will keep you organized and help you to not lose any idea along the way. Better than that, if you don't write those ideas, you will hardly real remembered them after a few hours. So having a place to track down all your ideas is a great strategy. And I use Notion for this purpose. Finally, in the preparation phase, there is a last step I like to follow, which is to have established routine for writing. In my case, I write mostly in the mornings with the same music playlist. I try never to start with a blank page and I writing 40 to 60 minute bursts. The reason why I follow the same steps when writing is that it helps me to get into the zone faster. You can take some inspiration from my routine to build your own. What matters is having a predefined routine that helps you with the process of writing. And after the preparation phase comes to writing face. And I also have some tips to give you regarding that one. Now the first step is this. If there is one crucial insight regards writing, which is I have seen recommended by many writers, is that you should separate the writing and the editing phase. That is, when you sit down to write, don't try to edit at the same time. Instead, write, write, write without worrying about structure and grammar or logical stuff, just right. And later, you can dedicate time to the editing phase. And I can tell you that when I'm able to separate these phases, and that's not every time I must admit. I am much more efficient in both phases and I truly feel happier with the overall process. Otherwise, I feel frustrated because I judge my work immediately after writing it in that doesn't feel eyes. The second tip regarding the writing face is facing it with a professional attitude. And I know this is easier said than done and I cannot lie because I have surely written in my pajamas. But the truth is I get more work done and better done when I'm able to have a professional attitude, both in terms of my appearance and away. I manage my time and priorities. And even if your blog is just a side gig, you can still block your schedule to writing, which will help you to make progress consistently rather than randomly. And finally, and this is really, really optional, but I need to recommend the book, Bird by Bird, which details the author journey with the process of writing. It is not only inspiring, but also insightful in terms of writing. And it's written by an incredible author with incredible writing. So if you'd like to read, I highly recommend it. And after rewriting phase comes the post publishing phase. And I've got some tips to share. We do two. After publishing a blog post comes the marketing phase. And I'll do, I don't actually have a complex marketing plan. I make sure I shared the blog post. We'd my Redis mostly through an email newsletter. And this can also be done using social media or any other platform you use to communicate with your readers. And if you struggle with sharing your own work, I have something to share. We do. Don't be selfish. Yes, you have created value within a blog post. And so you're being selfish when you're not sharing it with the world. So please get out there in shared incredible work you have created. And finally, the last step is repeat. Yes, repeat all of these phases over and over again and enjoy the process. Blogging is not only helpful for the ones who read what you write, but it's also helpful for yourself. It is a way of expressing yourself in improving your skills along the way. And the challenge for the last day of the challenge is simply this. Create your own writing routine. Perhaps it will be every day at ADM with a cup of coffee. And you will write for 40 minutes straight without any interruption when listening to your favorite playlist. With this routine in mind, you can be sure that you will be able to be much more consistent and ready to publish. And again, make sure you take some notes on watch we have covered throughout the class because I think it will help you along the journey to thank you so much. And I see you in the next video.
