1. Intro: Hi, everyone, money is still in the face. I'm a self taught artists and fashion illustrator behind the block to see in style that come. I consider myself a very lucky person because I draw scare chant pain for leaving. And today I'm very excited to welcome you in my little studio and share my skills with you . I post a lot of my work to instagram, and sometimes I see comments for people say that they're not talented enough what they can draw on. I'm here to tell you it's not true. Everyone can draw. You just need to learn the basics and practice. If you practice at least 30 minutes a day for one month, you will be amazed with the results in this class, even learned the basics of fresh In illustration, I will show you step by step, how to draw a fashion figure and create dynamic and interesting poses together. By the end of the class, you will have a finished fashion illustration created with watercolor and and if you have any questions or concerns, don't hesitate to get in touch. I would love to help you. I'm so happy that you're joining Click Enroll and we'll get started 2. Fashion Figure Proportions: I have a very good news for you guys. There is no the right way or the only way to draw a fashion figure. Well, artists have a very unique style, so don't be intimidated by the variety of tutorials and different techniques that you find online. Start with the basics and then chose the technique that works for you. There is a big difference between real human body proportions and fashion illustration proportions. If you never heard the phrase eight or nine heads figure, I'm hyper to explain. So if you measure a figure in heads, an average female figure will be from 7 to 8 heads. Toll in fashion illustration. We change the proportions to make the figure look very tall, and it can be from 8 to 10 heads. Some artists exaggerate proportions to make the sketches stand up and be more recognizable . For example, they can draw very long neck or huge head, or maybe only one eye, so it depends on the style. And now I will show you step by step. How I usually create my illustrations for this lesson will need paper, pencil and ruler. At the beginning, you can use a ruler and a razor. But after some practice, you will feel very confident and I wouldn't need it anymore. So let's go ahead and create Our nine had told Figure We start with nine inches vertical line, nine inches, so it's very easy to divide the land into nine equal parts. After I divided the line into nine parts, I'm gonna draw the lines from each section and label them with numbers. Each part will be the size off the head. This is the balance line. No, I have the land with nine parts, and I labeled each part numbers. The top of the lung draw ahead. It have been oval or upset down X shape. Now let's find the lines for other parts of the body. Divide the second part in three equal parts, and the third will be the line for the neck and shoulders. Number three is the line for elbows and waste. Number four is the line for hips. Number six is the line for knees. Number eight are the ankles and number nine for the feet. Most off the fashion figures were high heels, but if you want to draw a girl wearing sandals, you can just divide This last part into shoulders will be about two heads wide so you can feed them side by side. Like this waste will be a little bit longer than the length off the head and heaps. I like Joni Hibs not as wide as the shoulders, so maybe 1.5 head. So now we have all the lines we need, and we're going to start drawing a figure using very simple geometric shapes. Let's divide this part in four equal parts, and the first section will be the crotch line, connected the heaps with knees and draw the legs to make your legs look very elegant. You should draw ankles very, very thin now . Literal arms. Don't forget that elbows will be on the same level as the waste and the hand that starts right where the heaps are, and it will be the size of the head. At the beginning. Some people draw very tiny hands, and it never looks good. When my draft sketch is ready, I start adjusting a little bit. So I moved the waste a little bit higher and add more curvy lines. And in my next video, I will show you how I usually draw a face in the class downloads. You can find the fashion figure very similar to this one, and you can use it as a reference. 3. Creating Dynamic Poses: If you want to create interesting poses, you need to understand how human body moves on in this from exercise. I will show you how. So we need car, paper, pencil and scissors to make the post look more interesting. We need to get rid off the symmetry. For example, In this Poles, you can see that each side is the same and the polls looks very boring. And on this picture the girl looks very relaxed. But at the same time, the Post is not boring to me. I think it's more engaging and fun, and he can easily transform a simple polls by tooting your shoulders and hips. He just need to remember that when the change of the angle off the heaps of the position off the legs of will change as well. So let's move on to our exercise. I'm going to use this craft paper if you don't help on No, Boris, Um, plain papers. Fine. I'm using very bright color so you can see the better on the screen. We need to draw a figure on this craft paper, but I don't want to do it from scratch. And to save some time, I'm going to use the template that we created before I'm gonna put them side by side and mark the most important clients that we need for the figure. Let's create a figure using very simple geometric shapes. It doesn't have to be pretty. Just make sure the proportions are very close to the template created before. Let's cut this figure out, and then we'll put it back together like a little puzzle way. If you tilt the shoulders, this way to the hips will be the opposite way, and it will also affect the position off the legs because one heap will be higher than another one. So let's play with this figure a little bit. For example, in this post, you can see it doesn't look balanced, and there isn't why the legs are on the same level. When you change it, you will see that the bulls will much better. The leg off the higher heap will be the supporting leg, and most of the time it will be on the balanced line or very close to this line. When the torso and supporting that position established, you can manipulate the figure and change the position off the head and arms. And this way you can find more. Each of thing poses. The legs should be bells around the land. They can be evenly split warm, one leg supporting the entire body in some poses. You can see that figure is going to fall over, and just a little correction can completely change it. So what will Their command is to play around with this figure, find very awkward poses and interesting poses. And also, when you find very good poses, you can copy them and sketch on the paper. It will be a very good exercise. 4. Drawing Stick Figures: drawing stick figures is another great way to practice. I start with the balance line, find the points for shoulders and hips, and you don't need to have too many details here. Just very simple straight lines. The 1st 1 will be very simple and symmetrical. Before I started working on illustration, I always spend a few minutes on this stick figures, because it helps you to remark the hand and find the right gesture for the illustration. In my second post, I'm going to tell the shoulders this way and the hips the opposite way. The supporting work will be right on the balance line, and this lack it can be pushed aside or bent over. When you draw stick figures. Don't think about it too much. Just let it go and make very lose lines. And for this pose, same steps. I'm just gonna change the position of the legs. And here's an example how it's gonna look with the leg pushed aside in this sketch of the bones line will be right in the middle. And for the last one, I'm gonna do the supporting lack on the balanced line and another leg pushed behind. So hope this tutorial helped you guys let me know if you have any questions 5. How to Draw a Face: I start with an oval shape or you can call it an egg shape and then cut it into and right in the middle. I drove very thin line. Find the center on this line and draw another line. The ice. It will be right on the center line. Now let's divide the stop part in three equal parts and the top line will be the hairline. I'm going to remove this little mark, because are we gonna have so many lines? And it can be confusing. Now I'm going to divide this line into three equal parts. You can use the pencil for the measurements. This mark will be the tip off the nose and this mark are the line for the brows, the distance from the tip off the nose to the chin. I'm going to divide in three equal parts again, and this line will be the line for the lips. Now that's your the ice. The distance between the eyes will be the size off one eye, and then you can feed half often I from both sides. When you draw ice, you can use very simple football shape than at cheer that I crease and curve Alliance polishes the pupils touch it that are poor island. And there is also the shadow at the top off. The pupils don't draw the pupils in the middle because in this case, the face will look scared or were surprised. So always make sure that pupils touch this upper island. - And I'm going to go the same steps with this. I sketching is all about the just months until the face looks right. So don't be afraid to use a razor and make any changes you want. Now I'm going to erase this lines because we don't need them anymore. Find the cheekbones and make the face look soft and feminine. The ears will be between the brows and the tip off the nose. The neck is on the same level as the upper corner off the I. But sometimes I draw it thinner and longer. It makes associational more beautiful. Now I'm going to draw the hair and add some volume. We almost done with the face. I'm just gonna add some final changes and polish the lines. How you draw the face depends on the character future, because they all have different facial features. So this is a very basic guide, but it will help you to understand the proportions 6. Inspiration Board: I love creating inspiration boards. You can create a collage off your favorite details that inspire you. For example, I found this gorgeous dress, which are a little beautiful as an illustration. Inspiration is everywhere. He can find beautiful images in your favorite magazines, newspaper, old books and, of course, online. I think you can agree that the best source of inspiration is Pinterest. So in the class description, I had a feeling to my Pinterest board, where you can find beautiful poses, dresses, shoes, everything that will inspire you to create beautiful our sketch. So if you're afraid the check it out. 7. Painting Skintone: in my pain, said, I have some colors that are perfect for light skin tones, for example, of this red brown by Majella Mission, and I'm gonna show you how it looks on paper. I use a lot of Fort ER. If you feel that skin tone is too dark, just add more water when they work on skin tone and watercolor illustration. In general, I always test my colors on a separate sheet of paper because you don't want to make mass on your what color paper, especially. But you work in a very expensive, costing project, so it's ah, batter to test colors. First, don't worry. If you don't have this are color in your pain set because it's very easy to mix different skin shades using four colors. And this collars are ultra marine yellow okra, burnt amber and red. Mix it with this. Four colors in different proportions are perfect for any skin tone, so let's make some colors and see how it looks on the paper. I'm gonna take just a little bit off burnt amber and mix it with yellow ocher at some water . Let's see, it looks too orange it to me so I'm gonna end a little bit off red, and I can say it looks much better already to make the color brighter. Just add more paint and if you're going to make it lighter, just add more water for very dark shadows. You can add just a little bit off ultramarine and it will look beautiful. And on the sketch, I will show you how I usually applies skin tone. I'm using a bet on where technique I would the surface first, make sure that your war is clean and then add some color. If you feel that he added, too much color, you can and the paper is still wet. You can fix it with a paper towel or just Margit with your finger while the paint is still . But I'm gonna add some shadows, and this way I will get very soft edges. 8. Watercolor Fashion Illustration: So now you know how to create fashion figure, interesting polls and place. And I think it's time to start a watercolor illustration on the reference image. We see that shoulders and hips at tip tilted the opposite directions, and that's what I'm going to do is my illustration. Now I'm going to start working on my fashion illustration and I start the sketch very, very light. I can barely touch the paper with a pencil when I'm sure about the pose. And I know I like how it looks. I can go over with dark a pencil and make lines more visible. I'm not gonna add too many details to this illustration, but you will get an idea off my work in progress. And if you watched previous failures, I think you are ready to create your own illustration. So go ahead and create something beautiful today. Yeah, - way . - Okay . As I mentioned before, I'm going to use the test page to find the perfect colors for my skin tone when he worked with watercolors. You always start very light, and then you can add more shades and different colors. But if you start dark, unfortunately you can't make it lighter when they work on the face. I used the smallest brush I have for the dress. I'm gonna use that on that technique. Just make sure your worries queen, and then apply one layer off four on the chest. And while the paper is still bad, add some paint to I discovered this being a paintbrush a while ago, and I just wanted to show you that using just one brush, you can create different lines from very thin, like hairline to very thick and rich lines. The illustration is almost done. I'm gonna leave it for a few minutes and wait till the paper is totally dry. And when it's try, I'm gonna add some outline Er and we'll add more details to the chest here and face. - I'm going to create some floral patterns on the dress and I will use the reference that I showed you before. - Uh , - when you're illustration is ready at some colorful splashes as a background and send your artwork 9. Wrap Up: I hope you enjoy this glass and had find creating your illustration. And now I would love to see your work. So please don't be shy and posted here. I know it can be intimidating to show you work, especially the beginning, but that's why it's so important to hear feedback suggestions. And don't be afraid to ask for help.
