one particular thing. So if you are joining
me, you'll find a variety of classes
that I create. In this class, we
are going to create a beautiful gouache
scenery on a coaster. You can also paint the entire class project
on a watercolor paper. We are going to start
by understanding the class project in detail, followed by all the art supplies that you'll need for
the entire class. No need to worry at
all in case you're missing out on any
particular art supply, you'll find it very easily in
any nearby local art store. I'll be giving you the
details about the brushes and the colors that we are going to use to complete the
entire scenery. The first step is to create
a beautiful vibrant sky, having a nice gradient effect, and some beautiful
abstract clouds. Then we are going to
create a beautiful, dense landscape using
some green color and some beautiful yellow
flowers which creates a nice contrast and makes the
field look very attractive. We're going to add a
beautiful mountain, and we are going to complete
the entire scenery. There are going to be easy and simple brush techniques
that we are going to use, and I'm very sure that you are definitely going to
enjoy the entire class. You're free to explore and experiment and create
your own scenery as well. Just enjoy the
process of creating. By the end of the
class, you'll have a beautiful gouache scenery and some good knowledge
about the medium. It's a short class that will
not take a lot of your time and it will help you to
explore wash as a medium. Without any delay, grab your art supplies and join
me on this creative journey.
2. Details About the Class Project: Hey, everybody. Now let us understand the class
project in detail. I'll be giving you
the details about all the elements
that we are going to paint in the
entire class project. Observe them carefully and try to follow these
steps one by one. So I have placed my coaster in an aesthetic manner
so that I can show you all the
details carefully. So you can observe
we have created a beautiful scenery on this
beautiful Embry of coaster, but it is absolutely fine. If you want to paint it
on a watercolor paper, it is completely okay. So we are going to start by
creating this beautiful, vibrant sky, which is
in blue and dark blue, having a nice gradient effect, followed by these
beautiful abstract clouds, and the painting
technique is very easy. There is going to be this
beautiful sun that we are going to paint in contrast
with the background, a beautiful mountain having
some nice snow element. Then there are going to
be these black hills, which creates a nice
contrast in the background. Then we are going to paint this beautiful landscape
using green color, followed by these
little yellow flowers, creating a beautiful contrast, and you'll definitely enjoy painting these little flowers. Combining all the minimal
elements together, we are going to form
this beautiful scenery. No need to worry
about the output, enjoy the process of creating
and you're free to explore. I hope that you
got an exact idea about the class project that
we are going to create. Now let us move
towards the next part.
3. Art Supplies: Hey, everybody. Now let us talk about all the art supplies that you will need
for the entire class. No need to worry at all. In case you are missing out
on any particular art supply, you'll find it very easily in any nearby local art
store or you can go for any other good
alternative as well. So as you can observe,
I have placed all my art supplies in
a systematic manner. Let us talk about
them one by one. So the first art supply is a simple, transparent
color palette. You can already observe a lot of colors that I
have placed on it. You can use any
simple color palette, make sure that it is having
enough space to take out multiple colors in it and
having a good mixing space. Now, the next art supply is
a simple glass container. You can observe some colored
water in it already. So you'll need a nice container
to hold some water so that you can clean your brushes and use water wherever required. Then the next art supply is a simple tissue paper
that you will need to dab your brushes and remove excess amount of water
and color from it. It is always good to carry a tissue paper nearby
whenever you're painting. Now, let us talk
about the brushes that you will need
for the entire class. There are going to be
three basic brushes that you will need to
complete the entire scenery. The first one is a simple
round brush of size four. Then the second brush is a simple flat brush
of size four. Then we have the last brush, which is a detailing brush, basically, a round brush itself. It's a size zero brush. Using these three basic brushes, we are going to complete
the entire scenery. In case you have a little bit
of difference in the size, it is absolutely fine. You can still take up
the class project, and you can use a
good alternative for the brushes as well. Now let us talk about
the MDF coaster. It's a simple round coaster made of medium
density fiber board. You'll find it very easily in
any nearby local art store. It's having a six inch diameter. You can use any
good alternative. It is absolutely fine. In case you do not want to take the entire class
project on a coaster, you can still take
the entire class and make the entire scenery
on a watercolor paper. Let me give you the details about the watercolor
paper as well. So you can use a nice
watercolor paper, having a size of a five
or any good alternative. It is going to have 300
GSM in it so that it has a nice thickness and you can apply heavy water coats on it. These watercolor papers
are from Canson. You can use any
good alternative. Now let us talk about the main
art supply, gauche colors. The first one is titanium white. Then we have yellow, black, radian, sabgreen and blue. So these are six
basic guh colors that you will need for
the entire scenery. In case you have a
good alternative, it is absolutely fine. I hope that you got
an exact idea about all the art supplies that you will need for this
particular class. Now let us move
towards the next part.
4. Painting the Sky: Hey, everybody. Now let us
start with the class project. So the first step is to
paint a beautiful sky. You can observe
that I have placed my coaster on the desk surface. The first color is serleine blue that we are going to take in
the color palette. You can observe I have placed all my art supplies
nearby so that we can access them in a proper manner and
in a comfortable way. So I'll take a little bit of serleine blue in
the color palette. We're going to use our
flat brush of size four, add a little bit of
water in the color, and start applying it on the topmost portion of
the circular coaster. No need to hurry at
all, try to apply an even coat and try to have less amount of water
and more color. You can observe
the way I'm moving my brush in a horizontal manner. We are not going to apply the serlein blue completely
towards the horizon line. Now let us mix a little bit of titanium white in serlein blue. So this is the particular
color that I'm going to use, and we are going to create a
beautiful gradient effect. So I'll take a little bit of titanium white in
the color palette, mix it well with serlee blue, and apply this color on the
bottom of the first coat. No need to hurry at
all. Take your time and try to apply an even coat. Make sure that you have more amount of color
and less water. Slowly start moving towards the above portion where we applied a nice
serleine blue coat. Now completely clean your brush in water and dab it
onto the tissue paper, make it a little bit dry, and then apply it in
between both the colors. You'll observe a nice
blend of colors together. The more horizontal strokes you'll apply, the
better blend you'll. Now you can observe that we have achieved a beautiful
gradient effect, having a nice, dark, serleine blue color on
the topmost portion and a little bit less
saturated color on the bottom portion by just adding a little bit
of titanium white. Now, let it dry for a while. Now I'll be using my
round brush of size four. In case you do not have a
round brush of size four, you can use a size
two brush as well. Now, we are going to
take a little bit of titanium white from
the color palette, but you have to make sure
that you dab your brush onto the tissue paper
so that you do not have excess amount of
water in your brush. So it is very important to have a nice composition of
water and color together. Now, we are just going to
start in the sky area, creating these little
horizontal strokes in a very random way. So clouds generally have a very natural and
organic shape, so there is no specific
way of painting them. So I'm simply going to create these little horizontal
strokes using titanium white, which are going to
combine in each other to create a nice
abstract form of clouds. No need to hurry at all.
Try to paint it with a lot of patience and in
a slow and steady manner. You can clearly observe
my brush movement. Also, you'll definitely enjoy the entire process of painting
these beautiful clouds. No need to worry about painting
it in the exact same way. You can create your
own composition of the cluster of
clouds as well. Guash colors is having a
beautiful property of getting regenerated when we apply a little bit of water on
the dried surface as well. So when you are going to apply your round brush
painting the clouds, you'll observe a beautiful blend of the background color as well, and your titanium white will get a little
bit less saturated. It gives a beautiful subtle
effect to the clouds as well. I'll form a little bit of clouds on the bottom portion near
the horizon line as well. I hope that you've
got an exact idea about painting the clouds. It's a very simple
and easy technique. Try to keep your hand
very much loose and free. Just apply these little horizontal strokes
combining together. Now let us paint few clouds on the left hand side as well. I'll again, create these
little horizontal strokes very much near to
the horizon line, and it is not going to be
a huge cluster of clouds, just some little
horizontal strokes. I hope that you got an
exact idea of how to paint a beautiful vibrant gradient sky and some abstract clouds in it. Now let us move
towards the next part.
5. Painting the Landscape: Everybody, so we are
done with the sky. Now let us paint the landscape. So you can observe a
beautiful brown portion just below the horizon line. The first color is
going to be viridian. So I'm going to take
this particular color in the color palette. Now, there is going
to be, again, a beautiful gradient effect
that we are going to create. We are also going to use some sap green to create the
beautiful gradient effect. So Viridian is very
near to dark green. Now again, I'll be taking
my flat brush of size four. Add a little bit of water, mix both the colors well. Now just apply a beautiful
horizontal stroke just below the horizon line.
No need to hurry at all. Try to have less amount of water and more color
so that you get a beautiful matte finish and
a nice thick colour coat. We are going to apply
this particular color initially on the entire
surface on the bottom portion. You can observe
the way I'm moving my brush in this
horizontal direction. In case you find
that your color is getting finished from
the color palette, take some more color
and mix it well. Try to have a nice composition of water and color together. Try to have less amount
of water and more color so that you get a nice even
patch of the entire colour. You have to be a little bit careful near the horizon line. I'll take a little bit of black, not in a very huge quantity, but in a very less amount, and just apply it on
the bottom portion. Now slowly move towards
the above area. You'll find a nice,
dense gradient effect. You're not going to apply
it on the entire surface, just on the bottom part. So it gives a nice depth
to the entire landscape. Now, let the background
dry for a while and let us paint some beautiful
yellow flowers. So I'll take some amount of yellow color in
the color palette. I'll be using my round
brush of size four. Now, on the horizon line, you just have to dab your brush. You can observe that I'm just randomly touching my brush using the tip of my round brush, basically, creating
this rough texture of little yellow flowers. You can also observe
that it creates a beautiful contrast with the green colour
in the background. It is not at all compulsory
for you to paint the flowers in the exact same
way I'm painting right now. You're free to compose and paint it according
to your convenience. Right now, we are adding the flowers near
the horizon line. That's why we are not
creating a huge patch. So I'm going to add
a little bit of yellow patches on
the left hand side as well on the horizon line. We are not taking
any amount of water. I'm just directly picking up some yellow color from
the color palette and just using the tip of my brush to create
these little patches. You just have to dab your brush. You can observe the way I'm
moving my hand as well. Now, in order to
create a little bit of variation and to make the flowers look a
little bit bigger, we are creating these bigger patches on the bottom portion. You can take some more amount
of yellow colour and make sure that you do not take
a lot of water in it. Actually, there is no
requirement of water over here since we want a nice
opaque yellow color, so it will give a
beautiful vibrancy, as well. You can observe it. We have a beautiful
green background, and the yellow color
looks really amazing. Again, you'll definitely enjoy this particular process of painting these beautiful
yellow flowers. Let me tell you the
same thing again. No need to worry about painting
it in the exact same way. You're free to explore
and experiment. You are free to create your own composition of
the flowers as well. So I'm just adding
final details and adding these little yellow
flowers in the middle portion. And we are almost done. Now, let us add some depth and details in the flowers
that we have painted. So I'll be using my round
brush of size zero, which is going to
have a very thin tip, and I'm going to take
some solid black color. Using some solid black color, we are going to paint
the stem and add a little bit of shadow effect just below the yellow flowers. You can observe the
movement of my round brush. While you add these
little details, make sure that you keep your hand very much
loose and free. No need to make it stiff and try to paint in a very slow
and steady manner. When you'll be adding
these details, you'll definitely enjoy
the entire process. So we are almost done adding these minute details using
a solid black color. In case you find
that your colour is getting finished
from the brush, take some more color
from the color palette and try to create these
little shadow effect. I hope that you got an
exact idea of how to paint the entire landscape
area just below the sky. Now let us move
towards the next part.
6. Painting the Mountain: Hey, everybody. Now let
us paint the mountains. We are done with the
sky and the landscape. Now comes the mountains that is going to enhance
the entire scenery. So I'll be taking a little
bit of Cerlene blue, mix it with a little
bit of titanium white, and try to create a
good composition. Add a little bit of water if required to lose
in the colour. Now we are going to add a
beautiful snowy mountain just above the horizon line, and it is going to be a
very satisfying process. I'll be using my round brush off size four to do this
particular step. In case you want to
add a little bit of black to make the color
look a little bit dense, it is absolutely fine. Now, above the horizon line, you can decide the position of the mountain according
to your convenience. I'm taking it a little bit shifted towards the
left hand side, and I'm going to create
the outline first. So using these irregular line, you can create the
outline of the mountain. Now, fill in the entire
color in the entire portion. You can observe
the way I'm moving my brush and creating a
nice solid color patch. So this is the base color that we have created for
the entire mountain. Now, we are going to
add some depth and details to make it look a
little bit more attractive. So I'll take a little
bit of titanium white and create a
less saturated color. Now on the right hand side, you just have to use the tip of your round brush and create
these little strokes. This will create some nice depth and details in the
entire mountain. You can observe the way I'm using the tip of my round brush. While you add these details, try to keep your hand
very much loose and free. In case you find that your
color is very much dry, you can add a little
bit of water. Now you can observe the way the white color is creating a contrast with the base color. By adding these little strokes, you can create these
minor details, and the mountain will
look as if it is having a lot of snow
on the entire surface. The best part about
gouache colors is that it is having a beautiful
regenerating property, even if it is dry. So if you apply a
wet brush on it, the color will get
regenerated and it mixes well with the current
color that you're applying. So it gives you a
beautiful blend of the colors altogether. You'll get a better
idea when you work practically with
the entire medium. You can observe that
I'm trying to create a nice texture on
the entire mountain, which basically gives me a nice snowy effect. No
need to hurry at all. Try to do this particular step in a slow and steady manner and enjoy the entire process of adding these little details. So we are done painting
the entire mountain. Now, let us paint
some beautiful hills that are going to be
in the foreground. So I'm going to use
some solid black color, and the brush is same
round brush of size four. And we are going to paint these little hills just
above the horizon line. You can consider it a part of the entire mountains that
we are painting right now. You just have to create
these little irregular line and create an outline for the entire mountain or hill and then fill in solid black
color in the entire portion. No need to hurry at all, use
the tip of your round brush. Try to make a good composition of water and color together. Try to have less amount of water and more color
in your brush. I have created these little mountains on the
right hand side. Similarly, we are going to
add another mountain on the left hand side to make a nice composition of all
the mountains together. You can also observe
that the black color creates a beautiful contrast
in the entire scenery. Initially, I've created a
nice irregular outline, I'll fill in solid black
color in the inner portion. So we are done with
almost all the elements in the entire scenery. Now comes the last element, which is going to be
a beautiful sun in the sky area to complete
the entire scenery. So I'll just take
a little bit of titanium white in
my color palette, add a little bit of water and try to have less amount
of water and more color. Use your round brush of
size zero and create a little circular shape in the sky area just above
the horizon line. You're free to
decide the position of the sun according
to your convenience. It is absolutely fine. Make sure that you paint in a very slow and steady manner and try to use the
tip of your brush. Now, similarly, I'll add a
little bit of titanium white, just above the yellow flowers
that we painted to create a nice contrast and make the flowers look a little
bit more in detail. You can observe the way
I'm using the tip of my round brush and
simply dabbing my brush on the topmost
portion of the yellow flowers. You just have to do it randomly. There is no specific
perfect manner to do this. Try to keep your hand
very much loose and free, and in case you find that the color is getting
finished from the brush, feel free to take some more
color from the color palette. In case you find that there is excess amount of
water in your brush, simply dab it onto
the tissue paper so that excess amount of
water will be removed, and you'll get a
beautiful opaque color. So we are done with
the entire scenery. Let me take you a
little bit closer so that you can observe all
the details carefully. Using minimal elements together, we have painted the
entire gouache scenery. I hope that you enjoyed the entire process of creating
this entire class project. You can take up
the entire project on a watercolor paper as well. No need to worry
about the output, enjoy the process of creating. You're free to explode and experiment with the
entire scenery. Now let us move towards
the class conclusion.
7. Class Conclusion: Hey, everybody. You're most welcome to the class conclusion. I hope that you enjoyed the entire class and got to learn something
new and creative. Wash is a really nice medium to explore and you'll definitely
enjoy the entire process. While I was creating
this particular class, I made a lot of mistakes, and that is something
that I always tell my students never to be
afraid of making mistakes. It would be really great if you add your projects into
the project gallery. I would be really excited to see all of your class projects. It would be really great if you leave a review
for the entire class, as it encourages me a lot and my class can reach many
more students like you. At the end, I would like to say, keep learning, keep practicing. Thank you so much for joining the class and no need to
worry about the output. Just enjoy the
process of creating.
