1. Introduction: Whether you are looking for some new graphic design skills for professional reasons or even just as a hobby. And I'm sure this class will certainly help you understand all there is to Canva and get you going by the end of this class. This class will serve as a great introduction into the world of graphic design. And especially for those of you who want to use Canva to start picking up some basic design skills which can then be applied to starting an online business or perhaps even going on your resume to impress a new employer, help with creating designs to assist in your blogs or your videos, even social media pages. Really the list goes on for how helpful Campbell can be in the world of graphic design. All this class war require of you is to show a little bit of creativity and patients while you gradually start to develop your own design style. And of course, the main purpose of this class is to have fun and enjoy the process of learning a new skill. So don't feel like you need to become a professional overnight. A really looking forward to beginning this journey with you. And I'm even more excited to see all the results and elephant that you're going to achieve from designing on Canva. 2. How & Why I Personally Use Canva: Welcome again to the class, and I just want to quickly thank you for joining me here and for taking that very first step on your journey to understanding the basics on Canva. Firstly, let me explain to you a little bit about Canva and why I personally use it. So Canva is a free online editing platform that allows anyone just to go ahead and start creating a whole variety of different graphic designs for free. It also provides an opportunity for everyone in the world to not only begin creating designs, be able to actually publish them from anywhere that lists the things that you can do on Canva really is endless. And just a few examples of the many things that you can do are things such as logos, Anna's presentations, business card, invitations, flyers and videos and read the list just goes on. And what was once a time-consuming task will now actually only take me a few minutes with what actually personally love Canva. And despite the fact that I still use Photoshop to perform a lot of my graphic design work. I still find myself actually using Canva for a good portion of that professional work, just because of the simplicity and the efficiency that it provides to me. A few things that I actually use Canva for are things such as my YouTube thumbnails, logos, or store banners that I need to create when I go ahead and start a new online store business and also then use it for my social media graphics. So if I'm going supposed to places like Instagram, Pinterest, or Facebook, then I'll definitely goes Canva to do that. Just as a quick example of how easy and convenient camera actually makes my life is go ahead and actually take a freeze-frame of this video right now and then put it inside of Canva and actually go ahead and remove the background. That way I can go ahead and create a new thumbnail. The fact that I can go ahead and remove the background from a still of a video or even a photo within a few clicks of a button is literally game-changing for my workflow. Because as compared to trying to do this in Photoshop, this would literally take me about 20 min to do another need that creating the thumbnail inside of Canva means that I never actually have to go ahead and leave the platform. And I can still go ahead and sheep all the results I want because everything that I need to give it a professional look is there for me wherever I need a cool looking background to go on my thumbnail or perhaps a graphic symbol or some form of element. I will never actually have to leave Canvas to look for it. Which means I don't have to go on Google and spend hours that you're trying to find the perfect thing and then worry about it potentially being copyrighted or even having some form of watermark on it. So it's definitely safe to say that Canva has given me far more of my time back and actually improve my workflow whilst improving the quality of my designs and making them look far more professional. 3. Getting Started With Canva: Okay, so for the first part of this class, we're going to quickly go over the sign-up process in case you haven't done so already. And then we'll be looking at how we can get started using Canva by understanding the dashboard and just generally knowing how to navigate our way around. So first things first, you're obviously going to want to go ahead and get yourself on the Canvas website. And if you haven't already, you can do so by clicking the link down in the resources section. Then once you've gone ahead and got yourself on the website, we can actually start to look at these subscription options. And of course, you can immediately go ahead and sign up with the free option and that is completely fine. But I would actually personally recommend that you go ahead and actually try out the Canva pro because they do offer a trial for 30 days where you can actually cancel well before and you won't have to pay anything at all and a more than certain that the first two days will be more than enough time for you to basically just go ahead and experiment with the platform and should make sure it's the right fit for you and your requirements and the designs that you want to make. So for the purpose of this class, I'm gonna go ahead and sign up with the Canva pro trial. And the sign-up process for this is literally as easy as providing them with your email, setting a password, and then they'll send you a verification code. He then type that in and you'll be good to go. So I'm gonna go ahead and do that now. Now I've just gone ahead and done that and done all these sign-up process. We now greeted by the Canvas dashboard, which is essentially the starting point for anytime that you want to go ahead and start creating new designs. And just to give you guys a quick tour around the Canvas dashboard and how you can actually begin to navigate around it. So first off, we will look to the top, which is essentially where you actually find a lot of the support and assistance directly from Canva. So under here we can see a lot of blogs or articles as to how you can directly make, say, a new logo. So if we click on the logo maker, it will actually give us a step-by-step guide as to how we can begin making some new logos and then heading back to the Canvas dashboard. The remaining drop-down boxes are typically support articles or blogs that Canva have directly written. Or you can go down to the Learn tab, which allows you to actually go to the help center. And here you can actually contact Canvas directly if you need direct assistance, they're moving along to the right. We can actually then go look at these symbols. So the first one that allows you to download the app to your Mac or your Microsoft computer, or there's even an app for your phone. So that's pretty cool as well. And then you also have the help center. So it's very similar to the loan drop-down box that we looked at. And then here we have the account settings or anything involved with your account. So you have your personal details, your email address, your password, any plans or subscripts since you have that, you can go ahead and find it there. And then obviously moving along, we have the big created designed button and we'll get onto that later on in the class. And then moving along to the side over here, this is where we actually have a lot more organization of our projects and the designs that we create. And we also have a lot of tools that can help us in our projects. So if you are going to be someone who is going to be dealing with a lot of different brands and projects. This tool here will actually save your life. So if we click here where it says Brown, this is a Brian and kits. So we can do is you can actually upload a brand's logos. You can even do that color palette if they have a stroke color palette, you can also add all the fonts that they may use it on their websites or their social media posts. And obviously you can apply this for every project or brand that you work on. And then moving on, we have the content planner, which is actually pretty cool. So here you can go ahead and add an event, whether that be your deadline for our projects, or you can actually go ahead and schedule a piece of contents that go up on a social media account. So you can actually go ahead and schedule an Instagram post. So let's say you make a social media graphic. You can directly post it from Canva and schedule it for like say next week at 05:00 P.M. you won't have to physically go on your phone to post it, which is actually pretty cool. Then we're gonna go ahead and look at the Discovered Apps section, which is where you get a lot of integrations from third-party sources. So a good example of this would be, let's say you're working on a project where brand is giving you load the content inside of a Google Drive folder. You can now just immediately upload that content at Canva for a Google Drive integration here, instead of manually having to download them onto your computer and then upload them. Then lastly, we have these smart mockups section, which is essentially where you can go ahead and take your design and place it onto a mock-up of say, a t-shirt or an advert, or a poster or a phone. And this will then be ready for your advert, your promotion, or the sale of that product. Then heading back to the homepage of our dashboard. So usually this is where you will see all of the collections of your designs. So if you ever need to revisit them or make a copy of them, this is where you can find them. And then along the top here, this is where we can go ahead and find a bunch of different design templates to get started on our designs. So let's say that you wanna go ahead and make a post on Facebook for a social media graphic, this, this template will literally have the correct size dimensions for you. So that's one thing you don't have to worry about. It, it saves you time and you know that you'll be ready to go once you've finished your design and it can go straight onto Facebook, then hidden back to the sidebar. Over here, we're going to click on the templates button. And what this is going to do is open up a huge dashboard of loads of different design templates for all kinds of things. So let's say you want to go ahead and click one. You want to go and click on this resume one. You can do that and once it opens up, you can then adjust the colors. You can adjust the fonts. And essentially you just change up the design template instead of all is essentially your content and it fits your brand and it's your own and make it much easier to find what it is that you're actually looking forward. There's actually a search bar along the top. So up here I'm gonna go ahead and type in YouTube because I might want say Newt YouTube thumbnails. I'm going to do that. Click Enter. Then it's gonna give me hundreds, if not thousands of different options that I can go ahead and choose from. And with my image from earlier where I went ahead and had the background removed from the freeze-frame. I can easily go ahead and then take this and put it on top of any of these different design templates and then go ahead and make a few adjustments over that'd be text or some of these symbols. And this will literally take me a matter of five-minutes and it will still look highly professional, whereas this would probably take me here around an hour or two to try and do inside of Photoshop. And this really is only a small portion of what can look can allow us to do. 4. What Are We Trying To Design? (Class Project): So what are we trying to design? Well, that's the main question, and it's always best to know before just jumping straight into the Canvas editing page, where you can go ahead and make sure you pick the correct template or the Craig size dimensions. And this is where I want to go ahead and introduce the class project, which will actually make the process throughout this class a lot easier for you to follow along. That way, you can actually begin applying each steps to your very own unique design. So I'm gonna go ahead and give you four different design choices. And I want you to pick one that fits your requirements and your needs that you expect from Canva. And the four choices are going to be either a social media post or advert, a sticker design, presentation slide, or a wallpaper for your phone. And the reason I went ahead and pick these four different design choices, because they can be done and presented in any way that you want. You have complete creative control. And I definitely think these options allow you to do that as there's no typical design format or style that it's usually expected of these choices. And of course, you can go ahead and create your own project or select another different template if you wish. Because I know everyone's requirements from Canva and what they want to go with it will be completely different. And again, the reason for this is so you can begin learning all the tools of Canvas while progressing through the steps in this class, but whilst actually applying them to your project. This way, we can actually go ahead and experiment and learn through trial and error through our own creative projects of me telling you about the sudden tool in this video, there's a very good chance that you'll probably end up forgetting in a few minutes or a few hours once we've reached the end and you finally finish your design, please do make sure to go ahead and actually upload it to the create your project button inside of the project and resources tab. That way we can go ahead and share all of our first designs with one another. And also we can just generally be proud of our first designs that we've created by the end of this class. So for me personally and for the purpose of this class, I'm actually going to go ahead and start creating a social media post or advert. As an example, this type of design will allow me to show you all the different tools that camera has to offer. So we'll get right into that in the next section. 5. Templates & Layouts: To get started with my new social media post or advert, I would generally go ahead and look at different templates and then pick one based on where I just like and I believe it looks good. Then I would also then check to see if it would fit the brand style or the project that I'm working on. So if there's a style of the Instagram page, or then make sure it fits with that, or even the color styles and the choice of the templates that you go ahead and use for your projects. So your designs really can dictate or decide the overall look and the style of those designs. Unless you go ahead and just give them a complete overhaul by changing the fonts, the styles that colors everything, and just go ahead and essentially make them your own, which is what I hope we can eventually achieve by the end of this class. And of course, you can go ahead and start from scratch, which is also a really good option if you want to ensure that a design is unique to you and is pretty much your own. But just as an example for this class, I will start off by using a template. So first things first from the homepage, I'm gonna go ahead and hit the template section. Then from there, once we reach the search bar, I'm going to type in social media. Let's hope then once we've done that, I'm actually going to go ahead and use these filters and then just filter out the template that I once I might want a minimalist assembly and perhaps modern, and we'll try and create it as well. Then once I've done that, I'm gonna go ahead and pick one, which I think looks pretty good. So I'm actually going to go ahead and use this one. And what this will do is then actually open up our new canvas editing page. Now we can finally begin creating and working on a new graphic design. And if it turns out you're not 100% happy with the template that you've just gone and selected. They actually have a dedicated section for templates. So over here you can easily again type in, say, social media. And what this will do is pull up the same results as before. You can go ahead and right-click any one of these silage, click on this one. And then that would completely change the template for me. But I did actually really liked that one before. So I'm gonna go ahead and change that back. Again. This section will be very similar to the section that we just came from on the homepage, which gives you that easy convenience of reaching a new design template if you need it. And it will also ensure that you're using the exact same design size as well. So I'm gonna go ahead and give you guys a very quick tour of the canvas editing page just before we go ahead and get stuck in with the design process. So firstly, we obviously have the home button up in the corner, which will take you back to the Canvas dashboard. We then have the File button, which will allow you to save your design. You can download it, you can make a copy so you can duplicate it and then edit the second one. Or we also have rulers and guides and margins. If you're working to some sort of format or template there next to the right of this we have the resize button, which way you can actually go ahead and change the pixel count of your design. Or we can just Gemini change the dimensions if you want it to be portrait, square, or landscape. Then next we have the undo and redo button, which is quite handy. So let's go ahead and say that I made a mistake by deleting the main title. I can then just go ahead and click the Undo button. Next to the right. This, we have this cloud which has a tick in it, which just essentially means that your design has been saved there next to the far right of this. Over here we have the option to rename the file. So here I'm just going to type in social media post hashtag one. I've just gone ahead and renamed my new design. And generally just by doing this, it helps with your organization, so it makes it easier for you to come back to that design. Then lastly, we have the Share button in the top right corner, which essentially allows you to post the design directly. So a social media account. So here we can easily post it to Instagram, personal. Or you can actually go ahead and embed a team member or someone to start editing or view the design as well, which should do so by sharing this design that will cover everything that we need to know before we can finally start using the wonderful tools of Canva. 6. Elements: So now let's move on to the variety of different tools and functions inside of Canva, starting with the elements section. And this is where we can go ahead and access thousands of different shapes, graphics, charts or symbols. And the reason I personally love this section so much is because of the convenience that I actually brings to me. So I now no longer have to go on Google and search around for hours to find the professional symbols or graphics that I'm actually looking for, for my design and even with the charts. So let's say that you need to go ahead and create an infographic or a presentation slide. The charts that you can actually get inside of Canva or far easier to adjust them. They would be in say, Excel or spreadsheets. So just to give some examples of this one I'm going to do is I'm going to head over to the search bar and type in charts. And you can go ahead and pick any one of these graphics. And then what it's gonna do is bring up a new window which allows you to adjust all of the values at literary or a slide of the button. And then we can go ahead and do a similar thing for shapes. So what I'm gonna do is go up to the search bar again, and I'm going to type in square. So we'll click on the first one that pops up. Also remove our previous charts. And then here we can actually go ahead and change the color. We can also then click on this button, change the border weights. We can also then change the corner rounding as well. And then if you do want to go ahead and change this shape without having to search it up. We can go up here and click on the Shape button. And then you'll be greeted with a variety of different shapes that you can go ahead and click. And then just older from now as for symbols and graphics, you won't have as much customization as you would for say, charts or shapes. I wouldn't let that worry you because there's literally thousands that you can choose from. So let's say that I want to go ahead and use a new symbol here for my social media graphic. Well, I can do is go up to the search bar and then just type in whatever it is they want. So for me, I'm going to want a email symbols so I can put my address along the bottom of the design. And what that's gonna do is bring up hundreds of different options. And then personally for me here, I'm gonna go ahead and pick this one because I genuinely like the line weight and I feel like it suits the rest of the design. Then once you've done that, you can actually go ahead and change the color if you wish, by clicking this button in the top left corner. So I'm gonna go ahead and change that to white. The next you actually have the option to go ahead and crop down the design. So let's say there's any features or parts of that symbol or the graphic that you don't want, you can go ahead and actually crop it down. Then once you're done copying it down and you're happy with very often. We also have the option here to go ahead and flip it horizontally and vertically if that's something you want to do. Then lastly, we also have the option over here to actually change the transparency or opacity, some people might say, and you can all see them bring that down if that's something you need to use for your design as well. And lastly, I just want to go ahead and show you guys how you can actually layer any elements or texts or photos that you have on your editing page. So let's say that I want to put a square or rectangle behind my element here, what we can do is I'll drag out a rectangle, just shave ice for an example, and we'll go ahead and change the color to a black, e.g. if I want to put this element on top, we can drag it there, but as you can see, is currently beneath it. So if we want it to come up above, we got to go to position and we can bring it right to the front. But you can also do so by clicking forward a couple of times. And then same thing again here. If you want your title to sit in front of something, you can just click on it, click position, and then just click forward, and then there you have it. So I hope this section was able to help you with everything in relation to the elements, tools. 7. Uploads: Now moving along to uploads, this is essentially where you can go ahead and add any photos, videos, audio, or any content that you want from outside of Canvas. So a good example of this could be a brand that goes ahead and gives you their logo to begin working on a project of theirs. So here you can go ahead and actually upload their logo file and you can begin working on it inside of the editing page. And another great thing Canva offers is the ability to actually go ahead and edit any images that you upload. So a good example of this would be a portrait photo. So what I've done is I've gone ahead and actually uploaded my Skillshare profile photo. And we're going to go ahead and drag and drop it into the edits and page. Then once you've gone ahead and adjusted the image to the editing page to make sure everything fits and it looks good. We can then go to the top-left corner up here where it says Edit image. So I'm gonna go ahead and click that button. And then we're greeted with loads of different options as to how we can edit our photo or image. So first that we actually have this background removal, which is the same thing as what I used earlier on in the video with that freeze-frame. And then we also have the choice of autofocus, which is quite cool. So we're gonna go ahead and try this out. So we use which give that a moment to do as sharp. And then once it's finished doing its job, we can then adjust these sliders up here to change the intensity. So as you can see at the moment, there is a line around my body. So we might want to bring the intensity down to maybe a save 14 or 12. And as you can see, that looks a lot better. So once you have done adjusting your Eva background removal or your autofocus or any of these other filters. You can go ahead and just click apply. And again, these are just a few examples are the tools and functions that Canva offers that actually improve the quality of my designs and my workflow. Because trying to do any of these things inside of Photoshop would definitely take a lot longer than just a click of a button and wait and five to 10 s. 8. Text: Now for the text section, which should be quite an easy one to understand, but more than just different fonts, Canva actually allows you to use different styles, templates in different styles of fonts already pre-made. And this is especially handy in times when you can't quite put together your own style of fonts where you can't quiet adjusted so the way you want it to be. But if you are just simply looking for a way to add some texts into your designs, we can do so by clicking this, add a text box up the top here. If you do have an idea as to whether it's going to be a heading or subheading. You can also use these boxes below as well. So once you have gone ahead and added in a textbox since your Eddington page. We can then go ahead and actually start to adjust it and move around the size of the text box by dragging these corner points. So this is especially handy if you are working too quiet, it's high area or requirements or dimensions of a design. And then once you've adjusted the size of the text box, you can then also then change the font. So if the font is then looking a little bit too big, you can then adjust it like so by using this box or the plus and minus toggles. So I'm gonna go ahead and click 40, and then that will adjust the size and the font. So then once you are happy with the size of the font, you may then want to actually go ahead and change the font itself and the style. And you can do so by clicking on this box in the top left-hand corner. And what that's gonna do is bring up hundreds of different choices. And you will definitely find yourself scrolling through here for a good five, 10 min whenever you need to change up because I know that I definitely do. And then another good feature about this is the fact that we have a search bar pair. So let's say we wanna go ahead and use a neon glow font. We can then type Neon. And this will give us a bunch of different fonts that may relate to that search term. And another great thing about this font section is the brand fonts. So let's say that you're working on loads of different projects from lots of different brands. And they each have their own sets of requirements for the fonts that you use. You can then actually go ahead and set up different brand kits for each one of those projects, which is quite handy because then you don't get muddled up in-between the different fonts and it's just easier to get back to. But then moving on to the adjustments that we can actually make to our texts. So let's say we want to change the color of our text. We can do so by clicking this button, I'm going to quickly change it to white. If you want it to be bold, italic, or underline, you can do so by clicking these buttons. We also have the option here to change the alignment of our texts and then same again here we have lists. We can either bullet points or number point is well, we then also have the option to do Let's spacing, serving and spread out the letters. We could also do line spacing. So if you do have paragraph, so you can then use this slider here to adjust the spacing between those paragraph lines. And then lastly, we do have another effects panel which is quite cool and there's loads of different effects that we can use. So if you want to shadow your texts, so it actually separates from eBay background or an element that you have placed behind it. This can work quite well. You can also change the color of that shadow. As you can see there. That can become quite handy. And then along here you also have the option to change the shape so we can obviously curve it to sort of wrap around a certain element or feature of the design. Then lastly, we do actually have the Animate button, which is going to be especially useful for people who are doing videos, federal and presentations or some sort of motion graphic. Because it actually allows you to then choose how this feature or taste or element actually enters the design. So as you can see here, we can have it pan into it. We can have it shift. And there's loads of different ways that you can adjust this and there's loads of customization to it as well. So I hope that section was able to cover everything they needed to know in relation to the text section. 9. Photos: So here we now have the photos section, which is great for all graphic designers and content creators because it allows us access to thousands of different photos and images about the worry of them being watermarked or copyrighted. To do this, usually you'd have to go ahead and use a royalty-free website like Unsplash or Pexels, and then actually search around on there to find the image that you want. Once you've done that, you'd have to then download it and then bring it over to Canvas and upload it here before you can then go ahead and use it. But instead camera, I've just made that ten times easier by giving you access to all of these images. The click of a button through their own editing page. So let's just say as an example, I need a photo in the niche of finance. So hungry, go ahead here and type in finance. And what that's gonna do is pull up hundreds, if not thousands of different images that I can directly just click on and boom, it's now in my editing page ready for me to use on my new design. And if it does turn out that you can't find the one that you are looking for, then of course you can actually just use the method that I mentioned where you go ahead and use some of these royalty free websites and you can then just obviously download them and upload them. And it should only take you an extra couple of minutes. So to ensure that you are creating the most professional and high-quality design, canva hasn't limited you here. So you're not just restricted to what they have to offer you. You can obviously upload anything in as well. That way you can make sure that your design is looking as good as it can possibly be. And while we're on this section of photos, I do also want to make sure that you guys are aware that you can't actually save any of these photos, videos, or audio files directly our Canva, and then begin selling them for a profit. So when you are using these pieces of content, you need to ensure that you're only using them for promotional purposes or presentations. And you can just go and last this photo on a post or a phone case somewhere in stance and not for profit, because then that would be copyright and infringing. So I hope that has covered everything that you needed to know in these section of photos. 10. Styles: Now moving on to the Styles Tool section, which is especially a handful when you wanna go ahead and make sure you have a nice color combination style for your presentation, a branding design, or an infographic. He also able to set up a style kit. So very similar to the way you could approach your fonts for different brand kits. You can also do this here with your colors as well. So if you are working with loads of different brands and projects that I have set requirements are the colors that you use. You can obviously then go ahead and create a different color palette for each one of those brands and projects that you're working on. And just as an example as to how you guys can go ahead and use some of these styles sets. Firstly, you're going to want to make sure that you actually have some accent colors on your design. And if you don't, it probably won't work as well. So for me, I'm going to have to go ahead and quickly changed my template to something like this, which has quite bold colors. Then head back to your styles tab. Once you've done that, you can go scroll through and see which colors set you like. So I'm gonna go ahead and click this one. Well, that's gonna do is then begin changing the accents, are making adjustments to your design with these new colors. And then from there you can just go ahead and start making your own adjustments if you're not happy with how it changed some of the colors on your design. So as an example, I could go to this one here. Go ahead and change that to a brighter color. And all the document colors will be here along the top. And I'm gonna go ahead and click the orange. And I think that looks a lot better. Then there's also the option to use different fonts sets. So if you can't quite find a combination of fonts yourself that you are happy with. You can come here and use their pre-made font set. So the same again, you just click any one you're happy with and it will automatically do the changes for you. And they also have a mix of both. So the colors and the fonts down here and the combinations section. So here again, you can just go ahead and click any of them. It will change the colors and the fonts for you within a couple of seconds. So I hope that will cover everything for these styles section. 11. Audio & Video: Now swiftly moving on down to audio and video, which is very much similar to the photo section in the sense that you have access to a hundreds, if not thousands of different audio and video files. And of course, again, these are all going to be copyright-free as long as you don't try and sell them directly for profit. So as for the audio and video sections, you are going to find this to be far more useful for things such as motion graphics, presentation slides, social media content, adverts, and obviously videos as well. And with these sections, you do of course get a lot of selection as well. So using the audio section as example, you will actually find a lot of different genres in there that you can use. So you obviously here you can see they have happy, they have popped their epic of piano, instrumental. And there's even a search bar along the top as well. So if there's a certain song or beat that you want, you can try and search for it there. And I mean, even along the bottom here you can see they have a genre for Halloween, which is pretty cool. If you are doing, say, an advert for a Halloween ad, you can obviously then try and use some of these songs or type Halloween into the search bar as well. Then same again for the videos section, though actually have loads of different categories or genres are videos that you may want. So they have nature, business, beach, rain, and I'm sure the list really does go on. And then of course you up here, you will have the search bar, which will make it a lot easier for you to find the videos that you want. And just as an example to show you guys how you can actually go ahead and use some of these audio and video files in your editing page. We'll first start off with the audio section. So let's say they've gone ahead and found that song or a beat that you're happy with and you want to use, we have to do is go ahead and click on it. That will do is then bring it up into the editing page and you'll see it because it's in the bottom left here. And then along the top you actually have these timeline of the song. And this little bar here will actually show you the selection or the era of the song That's going to be played. So obviously you guys can drag that out to the section of the song that you want to be blade and novice. See here you have the play and pause button as well. Then heading over to the video section, this will be very much similar to how we treated the audio file. So we have to do is go ahead and click on the video that you want to go on your design or that will do is actually show you the timeline along the bottom of the video as well. But if you do want to go ahead and trim that back, you can go ahead and click the scissors. And then that will allow you to trim the video down to a point that you're happy with it, you can go ahead and click done. You also have the option to go ahead and edit the video. This is quite cool because you can actually go ahead and use a background removed, but as we would with our photo, but you can also go ahead and do it with a video as well. And here we can actually go ahead and animate this video as well. So similar to how we can animate our fonts or our elements. So we have to go ahead and click on this Animate button. And then here, or actually allow you to create loads of different transitions to give it that motion graphic effect. So that should cover everything for the video section. 12. Folders & Integrations: Lastly, we have the folders and integration section. We're just going to be crucial for your organization when it comes to your designs and your projects. So the folded section is just going to be a great way for you to organize your whole Canvas profile. So whether that be all your designs and your projects, but also all the elements and the files that you use within Canvas or wherever that the videos, audio files, photos, like I said, whether that'd be charts or certain graphics, you can go ahead and actually start them, which then puts them under a folder for you. This is opposite in great for you to return to. So you don't have to go and try and search around from them again, as for your designs and your projects, you can actually go ahead and create a new folder if you wish, which will also appear on your home dashboard. If you are working with loads of different projects and brands, you can obviously create a whole folder for each one, which are just help you to separate them and obviously navigate back to them when you need to return to them. Now for the More section, which is what I actually like to call the integration section. This section essentially allows you to work inside an hour of Canva and it's a great way for you to actually integrate third-party sources. And it just generally helps and improve your workflow. If you are working on a project that a client is giving you, say a Google Drive folder. You can actually then go ahead and connect that Google Drive folder it writes into Canva to save you, manually downloading them, and then having to upload them into Canva. And of course you have a lot of main apps on here that you can actually import from. So you have box, you have Dropbox, shop dash, Facebook, have Google photos, you have Instagram. And I'm sure the list just continues. If you would search for them in the camera apps, then we have the discover content section, which can be a great help if you can't quite find what it is that you're looking for inside of Canva, whether that'd be an audio file or a video file. You can then actually go to places such as Pexels or Pixabay or YouTube, and then actually pick out some content from there and immediately just import it directly into Canva. And of course this is going to save you a lot of time trying to do it manually. Then next we have a bunch of apps that can actually aid or help us in the design process. So a good example would be this QR code already. So let's say you are actually creating a design as an adverb or a flyer, or a billboard. This would be quite cool because you can actually then generate a QR code using a URL and then you can go and put it on your design. Then same again, we can go ahead and use this drawer app, which will actually allow us to draw in a neon glow styles. So this go and try this out. So you might not be able to quite achieved this in any of the other tools within Canva, this just allows you to do so. Then once you have gone ahead and used any of these integrations or apps, you will need to bear in mind that they will pop up along your sidebar and to simply remove them usually is click the X once you hover over them, or if you click on them. And then again, if you want to put them back, you can click on More. Go ahead and click on any of them and they were appear in your sidebar. So that will cover every frame for the folders and integration section. 13. Project Demonstration: Okay, so lastly, I now want to put everything together and run through the process of creating a design with you guys. And essentially just show all the different tools and functions that I would use to create a design. So seeing as I did mention earlier on in the class that I was going to be doing a social media design. I'm going to do that, but it's going to be for a business or most finance niche. And it's going to be for a budgeting post and showing people how they should budget their money from their salary. And I think this design will be really good for demonstration purposes. Just so I can show you guys loads of different functions because it's going to include fonts, it's going to include colors, is going to include graphics. It's going to include charts as well. So I think it'd be quite well-rounded. So first things first, we're gonna go ahead and delete this whole page or remove all the elements in the background because I'm actually going to show you the process for me starting from scratch. And the first thing we would do is set some form of foundation with our background color. And I'm gonna go ahead and select a light gray. So once that's done, we can then actually start working on some of the titles. So I'm going to add a title because there's going to be for a budgeting, we can type that in as well. Okay, so now I've got my title written up. First thing I'm gonna do is probably changed the font style because I'm not all too happy with how that looks. I'm going to go ahead and scroll through and find a font that I think suits the design and the way I want it to look. Okay, So after spending a minute or so, just looking through fonts, I think often our family found a font I'm actually happy with. So that's gonna be the foundational fun for the rest of its sign. So now what I'm gonna do is go and add in some charts. So what we'll do is click More than charts. And I think we're going to use, then we're gonna go with this one. Why I want to do is I'm gonna go ahead and duplicate them. So I can do this by copying pasting, so I can press command C and then V. Well that's gonna do is just copy and paste them and I can do that, I can, and we'll do that again. But the problem is, obviously we now need to change the color. So I might change it to a darker gray and then the other color can be a darker black perhaps. Can change that one down slightly. I think that works. Okay, so then I'll go ahead and apply this to the rest of them as well. So now that I've gone ahead and got them all colored the way that I want them, you can actually drag them around. And what that's gonna do is create these guides our way. You can ensure that they're all in straight to each other. So we can just that one, move that one closer if we want, and then boom, they shouldn't all now be in a square to each other. So there we go. And if you want, you can actually go ahead and select them all, which will group them. And then you can obviously then send to them and you'll see this middle center line and that will show you that they've now been censored. Now I'm going to do is actually go ahead and find some sort of graphic elements ago in the middle to show what this chart actually means. Okay, so now that I've gone ahead and found some symbols that I can use for this budgeting plan. And obviously I'm not all too short what this plan, this plan was supposed to be. So these are just some random symbols that could represent what our budget would look like. So here we've got a house which could represent a mortgage costs that they have. This one is supposed to represent the bills that are outgoings. Here we have the car, which could be their car payments perhaps. And all we're doing now is just gradually adjusting them. So make sure they fit inside of these charts and they look relatively in scale to each other. Okay, So I think that now it looks pretty good. And what we're gonna do now is before we go ahead and just start labeling everything, we're obviously going to want I go ahead and adjust these charts to actually show a certain percentage. So what we're gonna do is we're going to say, and obviously these are completely random. I don't actually know what a budgeting plan would look like for any certain person. So this is obviously very independent, so everyone's own needs, but let's say, so bills, I'm going to say bills is quite high, let's say, but bills will take up about 25%. I'm sure people's mortgages, they would probably take up, say, 40, 40%, maybe we'll say 40%. A car payment will say that it probably takes up about 10% of someone's income. And then we'll say the savings. So what have we got? We've got 25, we've got 40, 65, we've got 1075. And we'll say that their savings rate should be around about 25. Okay, So it go I think that looks good. There. We've obviously been able to show you guys how you can use your charts. You can use different symbols of elements, how you can resize them, or you can change the colors. And now we're going to go ahead and do some more texts are what we're going to do is skip these guys some subtitles so we can go ahead and use subheading, or we can go ahead and type in, let's say bills. And again, what we can do it if we want this font to match up to our heading, we can go ahead and click this drop down box mode at the top here, and there you go. Then that will match up with our title as well. So I'm gonna do is individually through these for each of these charts. Just as a quick little note, if you do ever find yourself with a textbox like this and it won't let you right to the side or you have to do is just go ahead and adjust the size of the text box like so. And then they'll stretch it out for you. And then all we're gonna do here now is just adjust these to make sure that all in line. And as you can see, I think they're all quite well centered that these are perhaps a bit too close to the bottom. So what we're gonna do is just bring those up a little bit. And I might even bring those in closer. Shall not bring those arms up a little bit as well. So we can do this by grouping them. Psi we got, and then I'm going to group them all and make sure that they're all centered to the page. So I'm just going to wait for that. And if you do ever want to move any of them in groups, you can obviously just group them and you can also use your arrow key as well to move them up and down. You don't always have to drag them. So now I mean, I'm pretty fairly happy with how this is looking. We could change up the colorway, I think for now I might do is just add a percentage font here or text just to show it more visually. Because from these charts you might not be able to tell how much that percentage might be. So I'm gonna go ahead and do that now. Okay, so there we have it. I've just added the values to each one of these charts. And what I did is I've added it in a text and also went through the effects panel and I added in a background as well. So what I might do is actually bring that in slightly so it's bit closer. So we go for 20 and we'll adjust the roundness to maybe 40, 45, maybe 35. Looks pretty good. And we can also then change the transparency as well, which I think looks quite nice. So we'll change that to a t as well. And I'm also going to decrease the font size as well because it doesn't need to be that big in relation to the page. So I'm going to go ahead and apply that to each one of these as well. Okay, so now lastly, I'm Germany happy with how that design looks like. And I mean, it's literally taken before only a matter of five, 10 min to get to this point. And lastly, what I might do is go ahead and look at the styles, and we'll go and change the colors. And we'll see if we can get any different color patterns that look kind of cool or that one looks quite cool. I like that due to try it out on nursing, sometimes you will find that I won't pick up on all the elements. So you might have to go individually, change them. So we'll try and get that to look the same as the others. And there you go. That looks pretty cool. And I'm pretty sure I'm pretty happy with that. So yeah, that to me about 05:10 minutes. And we did manage to use some of the elements, use texts, and we use different styles as well. So I think this has given us a very general overview on the different tools and functions that we can use inside of Canva to create some of our designs. 14. Exporting Your Designs: Now once you finally finished up with your design and you are now 100% happy with it. We're now going to want to go ahead and download it and obviously take it away from us outside of Canva. So to do this, we can either go ahead and click on the Share button in the top right-hand corner. And then from there you can go ahead and click on the download button. Or you can either go to the File button in the top left hand corner. And again you can click download from there. Once you do that, Angular bring up a new window that's going to give us loads of different options for the file formats and the ways that we want to actually download our file. And of course, the file type that you choose will be completely down to your own requirements and the requirements of your projects and your design. So if you are doing a video that's obviously going to be like an mp4. But just for designs alone, most times you will be downloading in JPEG or PNG. Jpeg will be used for most flat images. But if you do have an image where you want a transparent background, That's where you will then obviously click on the File type of PNG. And then if you do find yourself working on, say like a resume or some form of document, you're probably going to want to head to PDF and download those and that sort of format. And another great thing about Canva is when you do go ahead and click on this drop-down box, each files hope where I actually have a little description what is best used for. So if you are confused as to what you should save your design for, then obviously you can go ahead and look here and it will show you and give you a good description as to what you should choose. Then lastly, once you've gone ahead and select the right file format for your design, you will then be left with two options so you can adjust the size of the design or you can adjust the quality. So for me personally, this might be going up to Instagram. So the 1080 by 1080 pixels would be perfectly fine. But if I did want to, I could obviously then bump that up. And then lastly we have the equality. So I could actually bump this up to 100 and it should be fine. The only time you may want to consider dropping this down is when, if there's some requirements or limits through the file size when you upload something, this one then obviously make the file size much larger if you increase the quality. And then lastly, before we go ahead and hit the Download button, you can of course, go ahead and save the downloads settings for next time. So if you know this is going to be a common file type and setting, then obviously you just go ahead and take that. But for now I'm gonna go ahead and click Download. And then that's going to generate a pop-up button along here. And we're going to click allow. And then there we have it now popped up and there's my design all saved and ready to go to Instagram. So I hope that's covered everything in this section for exporting your designs. 15.
