1. Intro: do you find yourself at my beautiful handmade journals and jump journals on Pinterest instagram birds? I'm quite ready yet to find your own journal from scratch. Or maybe you you that you don't have the patients or maybe the time to learn how to find a book. But possibly looking for something that is a little bit simpler on takes less time back, but still allowing you to create a journal. If that's the case, then you're definitely in the right place. Hi, my name is Nina. I'm an artist, Book lover, journal, maker, teacher and online content creator on with this class are basically created. Cheeks guide to book binding. I'm going to show you hard turn, vintage book. Or in fact, any hard cover book into a hut made journal without actually having to refine this. You're going to die. How to remove the existing pages off book and replace them with papers on pages that you have chosen on The whole process is going, Teoh, take about on afternoon or two. So this would be a perfect project for a weekend on would allow you to make a completely finished journal in that time in this class. You're going to find out how to choose a suitable book, how to remove the pages and also how Teoh cut the new page at every assemble the whole journal. This class is suitable for beginners to brick finding. I'm going to take you step by step through the whole process. But if you are a season paper crafter on have already brown here, Brooksie might still like to have a look and get an idea, uh, other ways to create a hand made journal without actually having to find it on. I feel that these also make really beautiful presents for friends and family members, or maybe for yourself. So if you like the idea off, she's dying to put finding on expire. 2. Tools & Materials: So let's very quickly go through a lot. The tools and materials you're going to need for this class. Um, most obviously, I would think you would be needing a vintage book that you want to turn into a journal. I have created a separate video. What I'm talking through the kind of book on the page quality that I personally would choose, um, for a handmade journal. I find that it's really easy to get hold off vintage books in charity shops or second hand bookshops. It doesn't have to be anything special, but if you feel you don't really want to use a vintage book, you can actually use a hard cover book. And he could maybe just use something that is maybe a book you wouldn't read anyway. Or very often. Libraries will have a library book sales on it could be, you know, it could be books that are out of date or books that may get textbooks or something, but then you would have a heart cover on. You could always at something to the cover, like an image, or you could glue some fabric around the spine. You can do yourself the sorts of things too old. But the outside of the book, even if this is not part of this class. But you could just go with whatever you have at hand. So if you haven't got a vintage book or don't want to use a vintage book, you can use a modern hard cover book. Andi, even some of those have just really nice nice covers, another that you could just maybe add a picture on the friend or just kind of you. Maybe you might be able to find something where the the text on this poin would make quite fun. And as a journal, with regards to the tools, we are going to replace some off the pages there in the book with new pages because you want to create a journal so you will be needing paper that will then go into the journal. I using printer paper. Um, line paper also got some graph paper, and I have them all Coffee died because I personally like my journals to look already used on vintage Andi. I really like that kind of look, but you could just use ordinary printer paper or line paper. So the paper choice is completely up to you. Then, in order to cut the people, I prefer to use a cutting mat, a metal ruler on a knife. But you could obviously use a pair of scissors. Or, if you've got a beauty mean or a paper cutter that would work as well. Just choose have any method that you feel most comfortable with. Then I was a guard, a pencil to make marks on the paper, so you know where you need to cut it. Onda. Then there is also an option of adding colored paper pattern paper to your book. If you would like to do that, I'm going to do that in this journal so you could find a scrap of paper or wrapping paper that isn't too thin. You could go through magazines or specific magazines that have pattern paper in them, and they're quite a few out there, so that would be a nice way of for you using those pattern papers. And then we're also going to need some washi tape or again, some pattern paper, which we can use instead of the washi tape on. That's all to do with securing the new pages. In other journal order to add it is an extra to the book. Okay, so this is all they're going to need. I've also created a list off all the tools and materials that you are going to use in this class on that is available Other down floatable pdf file. You'll find that in the class resources.
3. Choosing a Book: before we get started on the class, I would like to talk a little bit about the book or a book that would be suitable. Pull this class. I've got a lot of secondhand books here. You can pick up books really cheaply in either second town bookshops or charity shops. Andi, you don't have to go for anything that is really valuable and very often confined books that are already a little bit damaged. Like the cover on this book. This book has some damage to the cover some books have writing in them, especially Children's books, and you don't have to go for anything very precious because that might stop you from wanting to take pages out, which we will be doing later on. Then we're thinking about the page quality. Go for something that has slightly thicker paper as the pages. That's one of the reasons why I quite like using Children's books because they've got these really nice thick pages on. But this is the kind of thickness that would really work well, Teoh, add paper to them. This is another option on this is a romantic novel. The paper isn't quite as thick, but you would still work. Onda. Also, I feel that with this order book, I don't really mind taking any pages out at all because while XP honest, maybe the the content of the book might not be that appealing to me anyway. And it's every lovely way of reusing a book of giving it and you lease of life. What you probably Venetian go for is pages that are really skins kind of. I like this one, even though this for Mattis is really cute. Some, even some older books, you know, older groups will come with really some three thick paper and some with quite thin paper. Re depends on when they were printed and where they were printed, so this is quite thin on also, even though it's really beautiful, the quality of the paper might be a bit, you know, already a bit too brittle for what we've got in mind. I think that's yeah, that's another one with pages that are a little bit too thing you can see. If you compare these two, there's a lot more texture to this on. A lot of pictures probably would have to put three pages together. Teoh kind of get the same amount of thickness that I've got here. However, um, I have been thinking of one way of being able to use a book that has pages that aren't quite as thick as the pages you can find in here, but on quite a flimsy as in some of the other books. So, as you can see, this is the kind of quality where you don't feel the pages falling apart just when you're touching it. Ondas about to say. But two pages make up the same thickness as one page in here on. I have thought of a way of how our journal creating can still work with pages like this, because it will. I had a little bit extra work to it, but it doesn't make things really more complicated, and it also gives you the chance to use a bigger variety of books because even I found when I was looking, I've got a huge stash of books, but not all that many at the moment that have these really thick pages. So if I was to make mawr, I would have to look for a way of working with pages that are kind of slightly thinner, but I've worked something out, so that should work as well. And don't maybe for your first book don't go for anything you feel too precious about, because then you might be too worried of making mistakes. I would really go for something that you like, but isn't kind of like your favorite pig. So that you can use this journal to all this book and turn it into a journal without feeling the pressure of making something really perfect. But just use it as your first creation of working with with a book on turning it into a journal and just enjoying the process. Okay, so I'll be quickly talking about any tools Andi materials were going to use in this class on. Then we can get started.
4. Removing the Book Pages: I've made at my mind about the book I'm going to use for this class on. It's going to be this one. I've been trying to find a book that has not too many pages, just the only reason being so that I can finish it in this class on then, um, show you the whole book and be able to do the whole book in this class. So I really all I need to start with is the book Onda a ruler. I quite like to work with a metal ruler, but I'm sure there any other ruler would would work quite a swell because now the first thing we're going to do is we're going to take most of the pages out of the book. I personally quite like to leave the first you page is still in the book, kind of as a reminder of what the book Waas barreled. And then I quite like to play around with those first few pages. And if I don't like them, I can always take them out. So I might actually just go up to here, Andi or so I think I would like to leave the pages that have chapters or some pages that kind of stand up for some reason or another. So let's fold this over. And now I'm getting started, and basically, I don't want to tear the whole page out. I'm just going to tear it out to about where the text, Um, block starts. So I would just line up my ruler along the line where the text is shine. Hold it down on, then take the page and tear it out. So I'm left with this match off paper. You can make it wider if you like. I quite like to work with this. I think I might, uh, leave a little bit more paper for the next page. Just go bid over the text, and then I've got chapter two. I'm going to leave that in here. Then on this page are quite like that Little start down here. Where does explain what a word means? I'm going to leave this one here. And also the this bit about the rules sets the rules of the after school, so that might be quite fun to leave it in, then immediately afterwards. We've got chapter three, but I feel I'm going to take this point out for In the end, I'll be left with too many pages of the original, but inside no, again. We've got here this little bit with a letter. We've got the chapter here, so I leave thes two pages on. As I said before, I can always take more pages out. In the end, we've got another letter here. I might leave that and take this out. Another tractor will probably taking at more pages in the end again, A little bit with explanation. So I leave this page so you can see I sometimes think about up to three pages out before I move the ruler. I can see here. I need to make sure that I leave a little bit more of the original page in. So I have to be a bit careful. Another two in we're getting towards the end of the book. I'm just checking how many pages I've got left and receive this. Anything I would like to even I'm going to leave the last page and probably the second page thes two That will come out now. Let's have a look. We will come. You can see from here you can see that less, Uh, quite a bit of space there. I feel I will have to, uh, take a few more pages out. But I can do that while I'm working with the book. Um, but now for the next stage, I'm going to start cutting paper that will then replace the pages that have come out.
5. Cutting new Pages: The next thing I'm going to do is cart the pages for the book because basically what we're going to do now is replaced the pages that we've cut out with new pages. I've got a selection off papers I want to use in the journal, as most of you have done, any of my other classes will know. I really like coffee died or G died papers because they just half the three lovely vintage feel to them. And that was to feel that they would work really well with the pages of this book because they've got. They know they have yellowed with age. But please don't feel that you would have to go with coffee diet pages. You can absolutely use white pages or colored pages. It's totally up to you. The other thing I would like to do is add some, uh, pattern pages to the Journal as well on. I just took my idea of what sort of pages I wanted to add or what colors. I wanted her out from the cover on the general design. I think this book was published. Was it in the late sixties? Yes, 1967 So I was thinking of going with something that has a little bit of a retro feel on. Also, because we've got away the blues on the cub on the cover. I thought it would be nice to go for have let blue slightly retro pattern. So these are the few pages collected, Andi. I might be using them in the book. They come from some of them a scrapbook paper that come in this big block that you can buy on. These two came from a magazines of a craft, a magazine, paper craft magazine. A friend of mine sent me from Franz. So obviously I need to know I'm how big I need to cut the pages so they're varies ways of doing it. You could kind of use one of the pages that you have cut out. We're told out off the book, Uh, and use that. However, we are going to need a page that is actually the same size as original, um, sized page that is in the book because we are going to get that piece of paper and they're going to glue it onto the remaining bet off the page that we've torn out. Um so because one of the pages that we've torn out is slightly narrower. We would have to kind of make up for it and add a little bit extra. Or you could just make if you want to. You could maybe cut one page to size and you start as a template on, then carry on to make things easier for you. What I usually tend to do if I just can't be bothered to create a template. I just stick the page into the book, make sure that it's all straight on, lined up with the kind of the edge of the book on. Then I'll just take pencil and see where the other pace there were these page ends and then I'll just make a little mark. So I know what I need to cut it, and then I'll do the same thing down here on. Then I can start cutting it. It might be easier that said to do your template, but this is how I work, and I find that this helps me with my work flow. But it might make it a lot easier if you just got yourself a temper and you could even use a temporary just do something make from, like, thin cardboard because that would make it easier to drool around. And then I'm using my cutting match on the craft knife to duel the cutting. But you know you can If you've got a nice line on your page, then you could use a pet scissors. Of course, you can use a guillotine. Uh, was a critic, You teen? Where you can do is just measure the size of the page on. I would have to write it down so I wouldn't forget and then use the measurements on your beauty nor paper cutter Teoh cut all your pages. So it really depends on what you you know how you work and what you work best with. I could just show you how I work best, but it really is best to find a method that works for you. So I got my first page here. Look, was that I don't necessary start at the beginning. Sometimes I just start somewhere in the middle of the book and work my way from the middle to the friend. It'll then go to the friend on the back. I don't really depends Yes, that looks really nice on then. I usually go on and cut a few pages before I glue them in, because again, that helped to help with the workflow. So you don't have to like Carter Page. Put it in, Andi. I find you can do it like that, but it would probably take longer then maybe just cutting That's a 10 or 20 pages on, then doing all the gluing at the same time. So I'm going to cut a few more pages, and then I'm going to show you how I glue the men. So that is always that way. How you can just use the first page that you've cut then is the templates. Andi, I just make contracted Mark, See? And then I know what I need to cut the next page. You can also, depending on what you're using to cut no, cut a few pages at the same time I've got to here. So I'm going to cut two at the same time and then also holding onto the off cuts because I quite like to have shorter pages in, as we're kind of like layered pages. But I'm going to show you what? I mean, once I start cutting once I start gluing them in. So let's still and catch one of these really like this patterns that I would like to have this in the book. I meant, of course, once you've got all the pages cut, he can start gluing them in on. That's what I'm going to show you in the next video. How I blew in the new pages.
6. Adding the new Pages: So this is the moment where we are going to start gluing the pages in. Maybe that's to start in the beginning. I'm going to get the piece of scrap paper, and I'm putting it right behind. Ah, this piece of paper kind the remaining piece of the page from getting the do steak and then applying glue to the length off this page remnant. I'm going to grab one of the pages I've prepared. I'm going to line up the edge off the paper with the kind of right reading increase in the middle on, then just press down. And so this way we are using the, uh, remaining bits of the page that we've torn out to hold on to a new page. I'm also going to do something to strengthen this connection between kind of like the old page on the new page at the back. But I'm going to ruin alot the pages first and then come back. And, um, I do this now, I can do this kind of think about what next page I want Tiu have in here because I've got different kinds of paper. I've got lying paper. I've got some graph paper here. I'm I'm kind of always trying to make them look nice in the order. They come in kind of like a pleasing effect on the I if you like. If you just have the same kind of paper, you could just go ahead, include all in or you might not be so fussy about the order of pages. I am very fussy about the order of the pages, but that is just something I tend to do. And after steak makes life a lot easier if you're not. So I think I might quite like to have a lined piece of paper and a thing. I might go with this one. And as you can see, this one is actually longer. Then this page and I didn't forget to cut off some of the paper. Well, I'm going to do is I'm going to show you in a minute. That's just listen, always make sure that press down on both sides. Yes, uh, what I'm going to do with this ISS, then fold it in on. So, Bayliss, I created what is called a fold out. So I have then page that it's bigger and I can write on it and fold it back in. I mean, it will just carry on blue in the next pages. This is where the next pages are going to be glued in. But because I've just had a line piece of paper, I for some reason I don't want to start with a line piece of paper again. So I'm just moving on a little bit on. I'll do it. Let's I'll do it here. And I've got one that is shorter. And I really like thes tourney. Little that, you know, this told edge of this paper and this is what I'm going to go for. Something. There's a bit more layered. So in this case, I've decided I wanted to have something that is a bit like Brown. It is actually brand packaging paper, but a bit of a quality. Just do this on here. Well, as you can see can sometimes happen that you brewed it on your turning it over on the page kind of comes off again, You know, they just put it back home, turn it carefully to press a little bit, Kim or on the side to make sure it's really attached. We go And as I said, I'm going to show you something else I do because I feel that this will secure the page even more on the back. Once we've glued on, want to exclude in all the other pages? So you can see I've got now something like a layered kind of effect with ease pages, and that's something I personally, really like. But as I said before, you could just very easily just go with one kind of paper and have, like, all the pages you've taken our just replaced with just ordinary white printer paper. Or you could go for watercolor paper. If you wanted to use this as a kind of sketchbook Andi, then, yeah, just replace those that would work really well, most are going to show you something else. You can dio. Let's do that here. I think that's only one little paper page stub on that is kind of adding two pages at the same time. So I've cut this, uh, paper is a different kind of packaging paper to a size that it's twice the size of the original paper. Um, on. So if I'm fold it in half, and if I glue this in. I have no only got one page, but I thought too. So let's do that quickly. You can see here. I'm being really careful with turning the pages because I'm obviously still waiting for the glue to dry. But we've got two pages here. So that's something else you can do then. Next. I think I would really like to use some off the graph paper because I felt was a blue that would compliment the book cover. Maybe I'm always checking if I've got kind of, like one stub or two. But how about I'm using Could just use this as the next page and have it here. Okay? No thinking about the quite nice to add one off the patterns, a piece of paper cut out because I've got these two stuffs here. I'm not thinking of what I would like to go with it or it could do again. It's half something like a layered effect, which I think would look quite nice. So if I had this at the back, have a look. I could have something. My lots. Well, let's just have a look at all the shorter pieces of paper I have I could just go with it. He died. Page. Oh, I could go with another one of these. But even though I quite like this, I think I wouldn't like to do something slightly different. That's my girl full. I think I do quite like the lines paper. Yeah, with the patterns. At the same time, I don't want to create exactly the same effect I had with this page. I won't have something it slightly different just to have more for variety in my books. So I'll just go through all my papers on Just see what I can do it. I've got one that looks a bit different. Let's have a look. And I have to say, you know, I really I really like that, Um, you know, marriage lined on the other one. This line, it's still a little bit different. So let's have another look. What do you rethink? We had this one on. That looks quite well. I mean, with this combination, the focus is maybe more on the pattern. I was with this one. You kind of It's really nice, but you might have both patterns competing. So maybe just to do something slightly different and not half a line paper. Let's go for this one. The stuff checking her many pages I could viewing, you know. And it's just the tooth. I start with Page. So always, always make sure that I pressed down on both sides to make sure that the group really sticks to both pieces of paper, whatever you like about adding from color or some patterns to thes books ISS that you can use thes as a background to put in photographs if you wanted to. I quite like to have a variety of papers in my journals and notebooks. Bigger to me, it just makes it more interesting, but I'm a very visual person, and I suppose it also depends on what you want to use your journal for every like this pattern as well, so both sides every night. So there we go. So we've got this one, and I quite like this as well. And then I also like that we've got a Miss Light. You know, the rules of hall for school. And if you just see that page is a pattern where the where the text is broken up by this kind of insert for me that also works as a as a pattern on every You like how these to work together? If you've got a book that's a Children's book with illustrations you condemn, definitely kind of leave the illustrations in and make them work with everything else you are putting in. Let's just go here. I've got quite a few taken out here, so let's have a couple Dio is he might be able to see some off My pages that have cut out aren't exactly the same height as the original page I've taken out. Um, but I Troy, do not get too worked up about this because, you know, this is being to happen. And I think the whole beauty about creating these books is that they are perfect because they're not perfect. So I can see aka do all sorts of really is Yes, I could do, but this one here layer, I quite like this. So sometimes if I'm putting in multiple sheets of paper, I quite like to kind of only put a few in on, then go to different place so that these get a chance to dry and kind of, um during start sticking together before I add more that only one more to add, but somehow feel I should leave this as it is for now. Go somewhere else and I also find it in a way more interesting to hop a little bit rounds in the book. Let's have more of the graph paper I've got. I've got to here so I could do over something that is layered or not, but definitely want to do something. Why? I feel it looks good in succession. I think I could definitely do with cutting someone off the brown. A pack in favor. Those two would look good. No need to cut a little bit. Oh, I fault him on this one. So, Herbert, just these two because they're ready. And carts, as you can see, when I'm using lined a paper that came out of a notebook every you like to leave thes thes details because for me, my notebooks, they have some character to it. But, you know, you could obviously cut those off that I've still got a few more pages that need to be glued into the book on. Then in the next video, I'm going to show you her I'm going to add this extra bit off security on the back off the pages because I feel that AID helps to have the more securely in the book on. It also adds a little extra detail to your book.
7. Adding new Pages Alternative: in this video. I want to show you a different way of gluing in the pages into your book. Just in case. If God a book has got, then our pages. I mean, not the really flimsy, thin pages that look more like the pages from a telephone directory. No, this really thin ones. Bird pages that are come kind of like, more like normal pages in a book. Andi, Um, I feel they could work. But depending on what you're planning on doing with your journal, I guess if you would only be writing into your journal, then doing it the way I did show you in the other video would probably be OK. But if you were planning on, uh, maybe adding some more pictures and images, I would maybe be It'd be concerned if, uh, you know, if the paper would or the page would stay in the book or if the connection would be strong enough. So this is just a NY idea. You could experiment with both and just see how it goes. But anyway, this is three idea. So, as you can see, I have, uh, removed two pages. I have already carts a new page for this book, so just do exactly the same thing by adding glue on. Then I'm sticking it in here. And as you can see, where our plan is really to sandwich it between the two remaining bits of the original pages, so I won't have clued in one side. I find it so easy to just turn the book rounds. Um, maybe because I'm right handed if you're left handed, you would probably be doing it the other way around, I guess. Um, so I can then put glue on to the other, uh, remaining part of the second page ggo and then basically what I've done theme sandwich the new page in between the two remaining parts off the old page. And I feel I could just I could leave it like this. Obviously, I would have to wait for the glue to dry. But if use really stable Attn. This point with this, um, version of gluing pages in, I don't think I would add the washi tape. Really. I mean, he could do it anyway, but you don't have Teoh on this way. You can work with books that have been on pages, but still make sure that your new pages are attached in a secure way, and I really like the way this looks now like the way it feels. So this is definitely a way of adding new book pages or new pages journal pages to you book .
8. Adding some Washi Tape: in this video, I'm going to show you how I I'm going to strengthen the backs off the pages where grew them . And just to make kind of the connection between the paper on the, uh, little remaining strip off the original page a bit more kind of a bit more stronger. And I also find that it adds something else to the whole journal, and I quite like that. So there two options you can go for option number one is to just use some washi tape. Andi, basically, all I'm doing is that I'm gluing a strip of washi tape kind of exactly over this'll part where the two pages meat on their side. Onda we go back to the title of this book. I've bean trying to choose washi tape that I feel would work with the whole theme on bond with the colors are probably not used. All of them again. I wanted to go with the blue, and I found that the dots worked quite well with the retro feed and also the colors. Then I thought it might be quite nice to pick up on another color, so I thought I might go for the pink. I could have gone for, you know, like a brownie yellowy tone. But I don't seem to have any washing tape in that color. So I thought I could either pick up on the pain on or something floral. I've got this with this kind of these little flowers here, or go for another slightly boulder color because I fear this is quite a nice kind of like a retro few to it. Unused this. So I would then probably go for a mix of these four or possibly something like that. But at the moment, I'm quite tempted to go for something like this. Then, if you haven't got any washing tape or if you would like Teoh, just find out a different option. You've got what you can do. Really? Because I find also some washi tape iss that depending on the make, I guess sometimes I find that washi tape doesn't really want to keep sticking to the pages . I've got some journals, refused washi tape to just stick in photographs, and they after why they just start coming out eso that it's almost like they're more like a temporary a solution. But then obviously with your journal. You wouldn't run the washing tape to come out if you someone's where do additional use a glue stick, which seems a bit counterproductive because washi tape is sticky. But I do it anyway, or what you can do is to say, if I need to use and blue anyway, I'm going to make my own strips of paper. Andi, you could use a for example, if you've got any, um, papers, floral or pattern papers that if used for the pages, like where? Like this one. If you've got any left, you could use it. You could also, but only obviously. Only if you're not planning on, you know, on selling the book or anything. If it just is it. If it's just for, um, if you're just going to make it for your own, then you could possibly, you know, take a photo copier or printer copy off a pattern paper that you've got home. But, you know, uh, it's a tricky one, and, you know, obviously you can. You can only use it in your own journal on bond because you know otherwise. You don't want to be copying somebody else's work and use it, so that's a bit That's a bit tricky. But, you know, I'm just saying that that is a possibility. However, if you've got a magazine back this way took this out. Just use the remaining A bit of paper. I just He died. This, as you can tell, um, and then use use this. Oh, you could use wrapping paper, but make sure that the gift wrapping paper isn't too thin or it might take a while. You're cutting it on. This is where the cutting Mac comes and really handy, because I can just line it up with the lines or the grid on here. Um, let's just see how wide after type is because it's definitely more than a centimeter is probably is it, I guess, like an INGE. I'm not very good working and injures bozo about, like 1.5 centimeters, which I think is about an inch. But I think that is a really nice with so what I have to do because my cutting mat is pick one centimeter wide. So I have to go on and, um, kind of like, slightly workout with my 1.5 centimeters would be like roughly here and then I'll just CalFed strip. And then I can use this strip in in my journal and actually quite like this. I'll definitely be cutting MAWR. So I might be rethinking which ones I'm using and maybe leave out this one. I go for this selection, but I might change my mind while I'm making the journal while I'm gluing the strips in. But anyway, so I'll be cutting all thes right now just to quickly show you how I put the washi tape in this excursion on the first page. And let's Muskoka. It's nice on blue washing with the dots, and that's just hope that one of their washing tapes that is going to stick. So I'm just going, um, if I wants to cover, like, half of the remaining piece of paper from the original page on, then half of the new page so trying kind of like eyeball the middle try make sure that it's straight family and I just press it down, conceives over not praying. There's an over, you know, is overhanging at the top, but that I could just cut it so I just do that here. Just cut at the bottom and then do the same at the top. I've got the 1st 1 done. I have to say I really like the way it looks, What I can do with the Washington kind of leave it on if I see that it afterward, kind of the glue that is attached to the washer tape starts to come off. I can always glued back with a glue stick, so that's another option I have. Yes, and then I'll just go through the whole book. Andi Um, yes, use the different washing tapes. You could just stick toe one. I quite like to have a variety that kind of Michael work together, because I feel that gives another kind of like a visual extra to my journal. But it's yet it's completely up to you what colors you want to use. If you want to use washi tape or just cut strips, we can do that one very quickly. Let's do the next one. So the way I would do this is just I got the strip here on, then just apply some glue to its it's you know, it's a little bit more work intensive, but it's doable on in a way. You've kind of creditor in washi tape doing the same thing. One thing that are definitely recommend is don't go for any people. That is very thick because I feel that would be just too bulky. It would kind of want to come off more easily. So anything that is, um I'd say a bit like printer paper quality should work. Well, I'll just do the same thing. I just cut off anything guys hanging over. And then I'm obviously going to hang on to all those little bits and pieces because I might actually use them somewhere else in the booklet or use it for a different project on. Basically, you just carry on adding your washi tape to the back off the book pages until you've secured all your pages on with that, your journal is basically finished, so I'll finish. Although the pages in this journal on then we're going to have a quick look through this journal. I have some ideas of adding some extras to the journal like a little envelopes, but all of those are optional. Andi, I might just publish the class. Um, with the finish journal on show you what it looks like on. Then add the extra spit later. So it's kind of like a boners and an extra for the class to give you some ideas of how you can add things to the journal or you could just leave it there. Andi, just use it.

Makes journal. So for your project, I would encourage you to take a photograph. Either off you'll finished journal. Or you can take photographs off the different stages. A book. You've chosen pages and papers that you want to put into your journal. You can take photographs. One. You're cutting the pages, growing them in. It's completely up to you all you can. Just as I said, take a photograph off. You'll finish gentle. Also, any ideas or thoughts you had while you were creating your John? Please share them with us because I feel as a community we can learn so much from each other. And I find that whenever I run workshops where I live, I see how each student does her own thing. But then you get inspired and get ideas by just seeing people create around you, and I find that exchange of ideas on creativity. It's just really beautiful. So please, for your free Teoh to share your process and share your ideas on inspirations and thoughts with this class.
