much like a friend. I'm sitting down
with you to show you some of the essentials
such as how to get started. I will have the Canvas screen
in Adobe side by side. So that can really help you move from one app to the other. I'll explain some of the basics. We will talk about JNAI
features in both apps, but also helping you
transition into some of the specific AI features
inside Adobe Express. One area I did not
want to skip is, how do you recreate and transfer the projects you have from
Keva to Adobe Express. We'll also talk about
social media sharing, how to use a social
media calendar, how to publish directly
through both apps. Last but not least,
video editing. I know not all of you are using video editing features inside
a Canva or Adobe Express, but I think it's really
essential to cover and actually open up video editing
because it's so handy. So with that said, I hope
you enjoy the course. I love your feedback, and at the end of
each little module, I'm going to give you a
mini assignment that's going to put you to work and
start practicing right away. I will also include
link for you to access a free version
of Adobe Express. There's a lot you can
do with a free version. When you're ready to upgrade. Adobe Express's paid version
is only 999 a month. If you have any
questions, I'm all ears, please do share this course
with your friends and colleagues for them to have a smooth transition from Cava
to Adobe Express as well, and I'll see you at
the end of the course.
2. My Reflections in Choosing Canva vs Adobe Express: You know, this
course is all about transitioning from
Keda to Adobe Express. But I do want to say a
few things related to, should you ditch KEA altogether? What if you or someone you know, maybe a social media manager
that you have hired, a virtual assistant is
absolutely in love with Kanda, and they realize they cannot switch from all the features, all the tools that
they're familiar with from ama to Adobe Express. In this case, it is an option to keep a copy of Canva running. Nobody's stopping you from
subscribing to both software. In the past few years, I have been exploring both Keva and Adobe Express just because on my YouTube channel
in my community, it's important that I am
familiar with both tools. Now, if cost is an issue, knowing Canvas
price is increasing significantly for
a lot of you guys. Wiki R to keep one
license running with Canva while you're
moving the rest of your team into Adobe Express. I hope that makes sense.
I think especially for us as smaller creators
and a small business owner, it's important for
us to be flexible. And in the case that
you are running a medium sized company or
even an enterprise company, it's also important to
keep cost in check. So I'm going to see you
in the next lesson. Thank you for watching.
3. Adobe Express Basic Features and Tools: So right now, I have
Canva on the left side of the screen and Adobe Express
on the right hand side. What I want to do now is to give you guys a walk through
of some of the most, I guess, basic functionalities you want to jump right into. And there is quite a bit of a difference between
the two platforms. So I think this part is
really important because if you're familiar with Canva, you've been using it for years, the first frustration
you may notice is when you come in
and things just do not exist in the same places when you find them
in Adobe Express. So let's go through
some of the basics. The homepage, as you can see, on the left hand side,
there's some discrepancies. Canva refers to your projects, and Adobe calls it your stuff. And we have the
template here on Canva, and here in Adobe Express, it is the fourth item option. So these things are
pretty easy to identify, but they are more
subtle differences. So I will tell you a bit about my experience and how I was able to get started
with Adobe Express. Pretty much kind
of frictionless. First is you want to
start with a design. So here, when you try to
create a new design in Canva, you click on Create
a New Design. And here you greeted with
different documents. I mean, even this interface is relatively new for cama in 2024. And you have your logos, most frequently, you know, used items and types of designs. Now, same thing,
what you can do in Adobe Express is click on the plus sign and
to get started. Now, you can also
here, as you can see, you can just start
uploading media. Remember that inside
Adobe Express, you can actually connect
to all the tools inside the Adobe Cloud system. So things like Adobe
Photoshop, for example, as you can see here,
but let's just say we're trying to do something
social media related. So here inside Canva, I can just type in Instagram. And now I'm greeted with
all the Instagram assets. So how about over here? Pretty similar ideas, right? They're kind of
ordered differently. If I want to do something
really straightforward, like in the Instagram post, which is one by one or
1080 by 1080 to start. And here, I can do the
same thing, Instagram, and I can just do
Instagram post, or I can select from
whatever is here. You can hover over just to see the size of the imagery or
the assets you're creating. Default, KMVa is now
pulling in what's recently used and some
of the other results. So if I want to
create something, I can use an existing template. I can even use a few
words to describe the template using AI that they can actually just pull a template together for you based on
your description. And over here on the
right hand side, we see Adobe Express. Adobe actually has some really
sweet templates as well. And let's just say I want to do something that's
related to Halloween. So Halloween party,
event, flyer. So I just want to search
for Halloween in general. Let's see what happens
if we do it here. Same thing, Halloween.
It's kind of cool to look at these
options side by side. You'll also notice the
moment you do that, there are additional kind of flavors, additional, you know, templates that you can choose
from right off the bat, you know, you can decide what you like and don't like as well. Now, what I have noticed with Adobe Carousel is that not only I'm getting
square assets, there's some vertical
versions as well. But let's just grab something so we can
start editing so I can show you how to manipulate,
you know, these assets. And we're going to basically go through some of the
common features you will use as you're designing
inside these applications. And let's just use
something pretty basic. So now, what is the difference
you're seeing here? I think this is one of
the bigger difference. By default, you know, Canva is kind of
hiding the layers. It's pretty clean, and
you can just grab, you know, the text
and move it around. You can see you
can bend the text. Whereas, you can see
every single layer here. You can find every
single element and manipulate and adjust
them as needed. So, for example, I was just hovering on this line over here, and boom, when I do that, you realize on the
left hand side, still inside the adobe
platform or window, you can now change it
to different lines, having different textures
and things like that. You can also change the borders thickness, change the colors. So here inside Canva, you're not looking at
things layer by layer, but you are assuming
that is the case. And if you're used to ama, I don't think there's
anything wrong with that. So now what I want
to do is show you some of the other things such
as introducing an image. So inside elements here, I can search for things such
as ghost for Halloween. Let's just say there's
a little cute dog here. Now there's an image. And same thing inside
Adobe Express, you can also search
for elements. So it's called media,
right, instead of elements. So inside media, now I
can search for things like Ghost for Halloween. Again, when you search
inside Adobe Express, it's actually pulling
in a lot of the assets directly from their stock
imagery, Adobe stock imagery. That's actually one
of the reasons that pulled me towards
The Express from the beginning because
I found generally their images and their videos
were quite high quality. However, over the years, with Canvas getting
a lot stronger, as well. But here we are. Let's pull in something
that we like. You know, how about let's see. Right here. You can see
it's on a white background. The most important features apparently everybody's using
is background removal. And this part I want to just
explain right off the bat. It's a little different
between the two applications. So, number one, inside Canva, there's a button right above it. By the way, this is
an advanced feature. So you do have to have a paint account or
subscription for this. So all I have to
do is click once, and now you have this
cute little dog, and it's floating around. You can, you know, resize a shrink People
love this feature. People use it a lot in Canva. And sometimes people don't
know how to do that. So for me, what I'm
trying to remove is this white background
for this little ghost. I'm going to click on that.
So I'm going to click away because a lot of
people don't know how I'm selecting
other elements. Again, the moment I
click on this image, now it's showing me all the
features related to imagery. So you can see the image
that is selected and boom. I have to do is
remove background. So from a verbiage and sort
of feature perspective, you'll notice that Adobe kind of tends to describe
these features more. Adobe Express is also
showing some of the AI features alongside with some
of the more basic features, for example, like insert object or arrays or remove objects. We're going to get
into the GNI or AI features separately.
There is that. So now, these are
the basic features. I do want to talk
about text real quick. So let's first add a new page. So inside a Canva, all I have to do is
click on Add a page. And you'll notice
that it's basically grabbing the characteristics
in this case, it's another page for
Instagram. And it's a post. It's a square page, basically. And let's do that here. So in order for us
to add a new page, so sometimes like, if you don't
want to see those layers, sometimes I just minimize it. So here, when I click on
AD inside Adobe Express, I can choose same size, custom size or just
duplicate what this image is or what this
page before the new page. So I'm going to say same size, but this is a brand
new page to design on. There we go. Alright, so let's play with
text a little bit. I know a lot of you guys
are thinking about text. Again, it's called Text in Canva and also text inside
Adobe Express. Right off the bat, you can see that Canva really
is focusing on, first of all, branded kit, like brand kit here because I do a lot of
work for soundly art, and, you know, you can drop in these titles, subtitles, body. And there's default text style, but they're also like
prebuilt text a lot of people really like and
things like that, right? So I want to for now, I want to show you just based on the text that we
end up creating. And I want to show
you the difference. So here inside text
for Adobe Express, you don't really see a
ton of pre built text, and you don't see the
brankit right away. It's actually under brands. But let's just add
text in general. Once you click on that,
now you're taken to the next page where you see
a lot more functionality. So add your new text here. So I'm just going to
call it title just for consistency from the left screen to the right side of the screen. And you can tell right
away that over here, you know, you can curve. There's text layout. There's like, making
it into a circle. I have not used
text flow before, but most of us are using, like, default text, right? So there's also borders
so you can play with. Let's replicate that here on
the left hand side of Canva. One thing I use a lot for Canva, we're just going to do the demo a little bit differently, right? First Canva and then Adobe
Express to talk about the translation
between the two app because ultimately, that's
what we're doing here. So inside Canva, we
as content creators, YouTubers, and podcasters, we often use what's called effect. So let me expand this
a little bit more. You can see it's hidden
here called effects, and there's more underneath
that with the three dots. So let's play with effect. Here, we have none. You know, there's
shadow, there's lift. There's intensity
that you can adjust. You can also make it hollow. Um, splice. I mean, a lot of these will look really, really good, honestly, you know, inside or on
YouTube as a thumbnail. And this is the background,
creating a background. You can adjust the
different colors, which is really helpful. You can change the roundness, the spread, transparency,
even, and different shapes. Alright? So I'm going to try to play with that
over here as well. It is a little bit different. I'm going to be honest
given this version, which is during the fall 2024. And the Dobe Express has gone through a lot of
different changes. But when it comes to texts, For right now, I would say a Kevas a little
bit more dynamic. That's something that you
want to keep in mind. So here, different effects
I want to show you are. The first, as you scroll down, it's generate text effects. So under fonts, we have different fonts you
can choose from, right? And over in Kienva by
the way, real quick, the font choices are here right above the design.
It's very prominent. You can also use
generate text effects, try describing a texture. I'm not going to
play too much with Genei functionalities, but ins let's go into
the shadows real quick. We have, first of all,
none, classic smooth. These are all different shadows. Remember, the shadow inside
Canva was kind of unified and even though you could change the effect by
dialing up or down. But here, inside Adobe Express, you have a lot of these
effects pre built. You can also really
change the color of these backdrops or shadows. So now next we can do
an outline, right? I'm just building on top,
you know, all these, for example, let's do
something like really bold. So red outline. So from here, you
can even specify your hex code
number if you want. You can choose the
thickness of it. You can choose opacity
of the block of text. These are very frequently used. Some of the things
that I think is really interesting is here what's
called recommended, and you can see the
different effects, you know, it's generating
based on your approach. So if you're flexible
with your design, if you're not so
settled on, like, one font, one approach, this is the place
where you can really test things out quite easily. If you don't the set of, you know, designs effects that
it's presenting you with. You can click on this refresh
button and see new results. So I think that's
pretty cool to kind of inviting you to kind of
think with you as a partner. Now, next inside Adobe
Express, we have shapes. Frankly, I really haven't played with all of these things. I tend to stick to, like, I will configure some
of the things I like, and that will be it, you know. So we have the pills,
if you remember, you can also, like, have a smaller background
and outline. I just want to show you guys
what they look like, right? Decorative, as well. So that's kind of
really cool, I think. Those are really
easy to play with. So those are the
shapes. Last but not least is the animation. So when it comes to animation, first of all, inside Canva. We're going to explore
that in just a moment. Because it's already here
inside Adobe Express, I want to show you some
of the things visibility. So there are different types of animations that are built in. Now that I know they're here, I'm going to just play
with them even more. So flicker, typewriter,
Bungee, drift, drop. And then I like these icons. Adobe is kind of
pretty good with that. Is that you can actually build. You can see what's about
to happen, like rise, slide in, spin, as well as
tumble. That's pretty cute. Scale, pop, shrink,
you get the idea. Let's take a look at how
to animate text here. All right, so it's under
the three dots here, and then you're
going to do animate. Pretty similar, honestly. So we have the rise, and you can change the speed. Anytime you see this
little crown icon, it's actually a paid feature. So direction, up, down. And then let's just start
from the beginning. So the general, the most
frequently used are rise, pan, and fade and writing styles. Word. Okay, we also
have pop, wipe, blur. I don't think you need to
go crazy with animations, but just to know that there's plenty to choose
from whether you are using Canva
or Adobe Express. So if you switch from one
platform to the other, I don't think you
will be lacking animation options
and font effects. Alright, so there is that, and I'm going to do a different and separate
video when it comes to, I would say video editing. That's where they differ quite kind of a big deal,
to be honest. So that's it. And I'm going
to see you in the next video. Please let me know once you
played around what you like, dislike about the platforms and how you find the
transition to be. So your assignment for today is to simply sign up for
Adobe Express for free. And, yes, it's free. And when you upgrade,
it is $9.99 per month. Or if you opt in for the annual
subscription that is $99, definitely have fun and try
to create something without thinking about replicating
your existing work, or creating something
super complex, but just kind of
get familiar with the features that are inside
Adobe Express. Good luck. I'm going to see you
in the next lesson.
4. Transferring Files from Canva to Adobe Express: Hey, guys. So in this lesson, I want to talk to
you guys about how to transfer data or how to recreate really
your original files from Canva to Adobe Express. So this lesson is
very important. On the right hand
side, I'm showing you this documentation
really is about how to import files
from other apps. In this case, as of late 2024, so the files that are
being supported in this importing process
is as the following. Oh, Microsoft
PowerPoint Files, PDF, PSD, which is Photoshop, and INDD in design, which I do not use,
but there's the in design and in design
documents are an AI file formats
for converting into layered editable
Adobe Express files. So that is very helpful. Again, anytime you look
at a file, in this case, I am not creating a
PowerPoint presentation or file inside Canva, but I just want to show you
what the export options are. So here you can click
Download and Inside Canva. If you are downloading, let's say, you know, a PDF, a Power Point, you
can certainly do that. In fact, I'm kind of curious. So best for printing. Alright, let's just do
that and see what happens. Including notes, and we have these files.
Right, download. So this design right behind
it, it's not complex, but imagine if you have
20 of these files, you probably don't want to create all of them from scratch. But in this video, we're
not just talking about how to import files
into Adobe Express, because, again, the
file formats are limited for what Adobe
Express currently accepts. Reasonably so. So beyond this, I also want to show
you how you can quickly recreate
the designs from, you know, some of these, like, lightly designed documents and recreate them inside
Adobe Express. But first, we just downloaded
the PDF using Canva, and now I'm going to bounce
right back to Adobe Express. And in this case, I also, just create a document
of the same size. By the way, in case
you don't know how look at the size
of this document. You're going to click on
the file menu inside Canva. And at the top,
in smaller fonts, it says four inch by six inch. And I just created this file. Actually, it's kind
of the wrong size. Let me just I
remember creating it. That's six by nine.
So it's four by six. Let's create a new file, and let's click on custom
size here and move over, change the unit into inch, and that should be four by six. Create New File. And
now what I want to do is I'm going to try
to import the file. So I'm going to go
to Upload here, and I will upload this PDF. So it looks like
you're importing PDF. This file will be imported
as a new express document. Alright, we have, you can see, converted and save this as new Adobe Express
file in your stuff. Now, open to add
text edit image, make new pages from
templates, and more. What we got? Yes,
guys, it's working. It makes me so happy. Here's what we imported, right? It's literally this entire file, and it's really guessing the fonts quite
accurately. It is Monsat. Okay. So now, I can be quite
confident not only look, not only the Texas
being imported, but even these visual elements, like these dots behind it. Now, they know
that it's a group. I can unlock it by
clicking on that image, and as you can see, there it is. The image is attached together, so it's like a grouped element. So that's really
cool. I like it. Oh, turns out I can move these elements as well.
It's interesting. Like, when I'm
basically exporting these documents from Canada
over to Adobe Express, I love the fact that, you know, I don't have to guess
whether these elements exist or not, and
it's right here. And because they have
different layers, now I can resize them, drag and drop them,
fantastic. That's it. Alright. Now, what if you have
documents that you cannot, let's say, import directly
into Adobe Express, you will have to recreate them. The good news is a lot
of these elements, again, already exist, right? You can see this is text
on a solid background, and the process
actually is quite simple compared to
working within Canva. So I highly recommend
that you give it a shot. In fact, there may be moments and elements
that you can actually further improve the design you have from Canva. Let me
know what you think. And as part of
today's assignment, I want to encourage you to definitely import, first of all, export from Canva, documents like Microsoft PowerPoint
presentations, as well as PDFs. PDFs are very, very powerful, and then inport them
into Adobe Express, watch the process happen
and really be able to, you know, change these elements. Remember that in order for you to do that,
you first have to, you know, click on
the elements and make sure that these
layers are unlocked. Otherwise, you're unable
to edit them individually. So I hope you find this helpful. Now, if you want to really challenge yourself,
sooner or later, you'll have to
create new documents using Adobe express
native functionalities, like you would
otherwise with Canvas. So I highly encourage you to look at a document that's
not too complicated. I think this is a good example,
mostly just, you know, text and some background image and then recreate the
document from scratch, playing with layers
and have fun, let me know in the comments, what you think, and I'm going to see you in the next lesson. Bye.
5. Brand Kit: Welcome back to the transition from Canva to Adobe Express. Now, in previous videos, we talked about some
of the basic features, editing images and fonts and, you know, social media
assets in general. Now we want to talk
about brand kits. So inside Canva, so there's
a pretty popular section. Again, this is for the
paid subscriptions only. You have something
called a brand area. So as you can see,
right off the bat, you can create a new design, which is create a new
brand that you can share with your team or something that you even if you're an
individual creator, you can go back to and
reference very easily. You also have something
called brand templates, things that you can, again, use, reuse over and over again,
like the way we design, for example, like
block post thumbnails or YouTube thumbnails. You also have something
This is new to me, to us, which is called brand
Controls inside Canva. Things like, you know, restrict your team members to, you know, create or change brand
colors and font controls and things like that to
create a new brand kit. So I'm going to hover over brand kits and simply
click on Add New. And here you will create a test and you just
follow it along. So instead, I'm
going to show you an actual brand kit that
I'm using for FaceWorld. So here, as you can
see, I have logo, different assets, you know, black font, white and red. And here I have my brand colors, and you can just input
this very easily. You can click on Add New and you can just enter your hex
number and save it. And for fun, I also added some pastel colors
as secondary colors. I barely use them,
but you never know. And fonts is something that you may or may want to be
consistent with your website. Again, I believe that when it comes to,
like, igual designs, you want to break away if
your small business has very, very limited font options, now's the time to
introduce some new ones. But the point of this is to create a brand kit
that you can easily, you know, reference back to on your own or share with the team. And here's brand voice and here's photos that
we use frequently. You kind of get the idea. So I'm relatively new to Adobe Express. I'm going to explore,
you know what I can do within Adobe Express, especially when it comes
to brand management. It's right here off the
bat on the left hand side. It's called Bands,
which is plural. And from here, all you have to do is click
on Create Brand. It's a tiny little icon,
B with a plus sign, and the other one
is browse brands that have been shared
with you and your team. So not just your brand kits, but also the ones, you know, that's been shared with
you from other projects. So I'm going to
create a new brand, so call it test I'm going to show you
just how easy it is. So you can right here, add your brand logo assets, colors, fonts and template. You can click on the Add button, and then right here, you
can up ogoRight here, you can upload logo,
color palettes, color swatch, font,
template, and other assets. So since I already build one, I do want to show you I kind of started working in this manner. I want to show you what sort of the output will look like. So as you're uploading logos, you could be one where
multiple versions. You can add new ones here. So very easy to kind of really change up and really
enhance your brand kit. You can update the
colors, view all colors, fonts, and even templates,
things that I use. What I don't see sort of the difference here
if you're used to Canva is that you
have a separate area for graphics versus icons. Whereas here in Dobe Express, they're kind of grouped together and just assets in general. Now, once you have
created a a brand. These two are kind of
similar in that sense, is you can go back to your
project and actually basically manipulate whatever
assets you are creating using apply brands. And every time you click, and this is, by the way,
inside Adobe Express, you get a different version based on your brand colors,
and what you're designing. What's interesting here is
once I go back to the home of Adobe and let me
go ahead and just grab what I was
designing a moment ago. Alright. So here inside Kanda I'm going to
click on brand. And this is where
you switch between the different brand kits
and then select brand kit. And from here, I can shuffle. Same thing, I need
to expand it just a little bit so you can
see what's happening. Like that. Same thing. Maybe if I were to be fair
with Adobe Expresses, I can select, you know, something to drop
in, add as pages. So there we go. And I
can also go back to my brand and then
apply brand that way. It's pretty subtle because
there's a big image. If I were to remove
that, you can see, there's definitely a difference. So that's it.
That's the brainkt. And in terms of sharing
with your team, I think that is also a
frequently asked questions. It's not just you anymore,
but how could you, you know, basically
share with somebody else, a group of people? So let's take a look together. Here inside Canva it's not really easy to do
right from brand here. So what we typically do
instead is go to home again. And then here at
the homepage level, you click on brand and go
into a specific brand kit. When you hover over, there's some additional
options here, right? So first, you have this icon, adding someone right away, but also under the three dots, you have duplicating the brand. Add brand kits to a folder, you can share or you can delete. So if I click on Share, editing Band kit is restricted to brand designers
and admins only, so I can basically click on this link and
share the brand kit. Now, move to the right
hand side where Adobe is. Same thing. If I want
to share the brand kit, I can do it right from brands. I don't have to really
go back anywhere. And then all I have to do is click on this person icon with a plus sign and add
people or a group. So, for example, I'll
just type in an email. And then from here, I hit Enter and look, there
are some options. I can either invite a
person to just view and use or someone who can
actually edit the brand kit. It's something that you
definitely want to carefully. You don't want anyone
or just everyone to rush in and start
editing your brand kid. But you can control that
pretty easily here. Let me know what you
think. What does your brand kid look like? Please, as today's assignment, take a moment and actually
create your own brand kit. You don't need an hour,
half an hour to do this. Even if it's just
5 minutes, right? So you can upload your logo, maybe different
variations of the logo. You can add your assets. Maybe there's some reaction
shots that you'd like to use, let's say, for, like,
a thumbnail image. So play around, add your brand
color, and go from there, see how you like it, and I'm going to see you in
the next lesson. Bye.
6. Social Media Management and Publishing: Hi, guys. Welcome back. And today's lesson is about
how to transition, again, from Canva to Adobe Express with a focus on social media sharing. As part of this
class, I'm always going to keep Cava on
the left hand side, Adobe Express on the right, because visually, that's how we transition from left to right. So just to keep that in mind. I'm also going to use a
Baby Fox photo inside Canva and Panda eating ice cream
using Adobe Express. Let's get started to
see how you can very easily share this image or
anything that you create, you know, videos
onto social media. So to do that, first of all, inside Canva, we're going
to click the Share icon. So as I'm expanding the window, you can see it is spelled out, but as I'm shrinking the window, eventually becomes this icon
almost looks like Upload. And then from here, as you
can see, you have Instagram. So all you have
to do is click on Instagram, and, you know, you have the option
immediately post from the mobile app or Schedule
post from the desktop. Now, you can also click
on this schedule icon. Again, this is part of their
paid subscription, right? So from here, you
can click on next and then Click on Next. Again, you can
select the channels. You can only obviously
schedule to the platforms or channels you have connected
using Canva in this case. So you can click on New Channel. And here we have Instagram
Business, Facebook, Page X Pints LinkedIn profile, Page Slack and Tumbler. I mean, I personally don't
use the last two as much, but it's good to know
that they exist. Now, what I want to
show you is right here, how you can do the same
using Adobe Express. It's actually pretty
straightforward, but I think it's important
to walk through. Again, click on Share button. It's also called Share. And right here, you
have, by default, Instagram because it knows these assets that
we're playing with, it's square, and therefore, it's favored on Instagram. You can also click
on Schedule Post. So once we click on that, this is the interface
that I really do like. I find it very intuitive. I just a moment, I'm going
to show you there's actually a schedule calendar available inside Adobe Express as well. Now, I get the preview, and also I can add
additional designs, right? It doesn't have to
be a single image, just so you know, now I
can select these channels. I can select multiple channels
and then open connection. So once I click away, it knows those two are selected. Here, panda, eating
ice cream. Is so cute. Here I can click on Generate. I can generate new captions. CutenessOload.
Okay, there we go. And then I can click on Insert, by the way,
before I do that, if you don't like this copy, if you like it, give
it a thumbs up. If you don't like it,
you can regenerate. Try again. Of course, let's just do that so you can
see what's going on. And you can see it's shorter. It's trying to give you something
a little bit different. Click on Insert. Boom,
it's right there. I can even add Emojis
without having to, you know, open another
application, things like that. So really, really easy. And preview, I can schedule it. You know, for a future date, there's a little calendar I can use the crazy thing, guys. Look at this. You
see how many years I can preschedule out of
it. It's just nuts. But you never know,
I really like the fact that Adobe Express actually gives us years into the future to
schedule these posts. Worst case scenario, you
can always tweak them. You can also schedule
to publish now, obviously, or save it as draft. Now, I really like let me go ahead and show you
clicking out of that, there is a feature that is currently not available in Cava, which I think you really love Adobe Express
for this reason. By the way, I do have a more detailed video if you
want to check it out. I'll include that
as well. To access the calendar or the schedule
for social media posts. You cannot be under sort of
the design section of it. Instead, you're going to
click on the home button, and this is where
the schedule is. All right. Got it. So now I'm inside the
schedule right here, and you can see that this
is the personal calendar. You can look for them by week. You know, these templates
are really helpful. Instead of looking
at a blank calendar, which was the first version of this basically social calendar, now it's giving you some
ideas of what it is. And also sort of
the world calendar, world mental health day, Day in the Life post industry
New Post to kind of give you a variety to think about so you don't
start from scratch. And this way,
anytime you're ready to schedule a new
post, for example, like today is the world
mental health day. I'm going to click on New Post. And from here, I can drag and drop images
I've designed using Adobe Express or an
image that I found online that is available to use Creative Common
zero, by the way. And then from there, I can
just schedule it right to my social media calendars.
Again, it's the same thing. And also, it's
giving you heads up as to Hispanic, Latino
Heritage Month, breast cancer awareness month, and just helping
you think ahead, save ideas as drafts. There you go. Again, having this visual calendar
is super helpful. What you think your
assignment today is to really play around with
the social media calendars, especially inside Adobe Express. It is quite easy to use. I hope this kind of high level guidance
will give you some ideas to get started. By now, you have
designed quite a few things using Adobe Express. And whatever the holiday
the moment is coming up, maybe just a simple
hard design with gratitude for your
friends and family, something that you can
easily post on social media. Instead of doing
it directly from, like, natively, using
your Instagram, your Facebook app, try
it with Adobe Express. If I didn't clarify, basically, how many channels
that is available, we should definitely do
that. Just real quick here. We can click on
Share and then share to social media and the channels that are
currently available. In addition to
what you see here, I'm going to click
on Open Connections. Here's all of them, Facebook, X, Instagram, LinkedIn,
Pinterest and Tik Tok. So I think that is
pretty similar. Let's have them side
by side, actually. All right. So what's
the difference? We have Facebook, X, Instagram, and it's Instagram
Business for Canva, LinkedIn a Pin
tryst and Tik Tok. So, TikTok is one of
the discrepancies. And then currently
inside Adobe Express, we do not have slack or tumbler. And so at this
point, experiment, if you think there's a limitation to both
of the platforms, I do recommend you consider a separate social media
management platform. Like later.com. Another one
we like is called sendB. So it really depends
on the features. I don't think these design app necessarily is trying
to be, you know, all it offers and trying to be completely be on
top of social media. I do think it's trying to cater to the user base and, you know, giving you some of the basics, a little bit of
advanced features to make publishing easier. So let me know what you think, and I would love to see your
homework assignments and also feedback in
terms of how you're adapting the two
platforms to date. Be patient, be kind to yourself. I know this can be
really you know, still a lot of work
on top of what you're already doing because switching
platforms is no joke. So there is definitely
some technical debt. They're about translating
different features, adapting new features. Good luck. We're here rooting for you team
from Face World, and I'm going to see
you in the next lesson.
7. Gen AI Features and How-Tos: Hi, guys, it's time to
talk about the Gen AI features between Canva on the left hand side and
Adobe Express on the right. First of all, you notice
that the mindset between the two apps is a little bit
different, I got to say. Number one, when you
start with Canva, usually you're defaulted
on your stuff, all your recent designs, and what you will design today. So I think it's a very
different approach. Whereas on the right hand side, Adobe Express, at least, it's kind of the impression
I've had all along, is that there is
kind of a homepage, which is not immediately related to the things you have created. This took me a little while
to actually get used to. Now, we're going to
talk about GNAI. You will notice, first of all, there are no doubt that a lot there's a lot of
Canva AI features. However, it's not like in
your face, top of mind. So here, to get started, I actually need to, you know, just click on and just open up an empty page so that I even get to show you
what it is, right? Start from scratch. Whereas on the right hand side,
inside Adobe Express, in fact, on the homepage
not so long ago, they were actually featuring
a lot of GNAI features. You just click and you
experiment right away, starting, you know,
from scratch. Now you can basically
click on Generate with AI, and now there are quick actions. You know, for example,
generate image, remove objects, and
things like that. So just something that I
want you to be aware of, and we're going to experiment at a specific project
level. Why not? So let me go ahead and also create basically an
empty page here. Alright, there are
a lot of layers, a lot of layers, as you can see. So I'm just going to
create a brand new page, click on the plus sign, same size and give me an empty page. That is a perfect square. Alright, let's
start with Canvas. Shall we? Let's do this. Now under design, what I
can do is under design, the first icon here, you notice something that used five words to
describe something. And right off the bat, I'm going to say, Five words. Okay. Favorite Christmas
and holiday gifts. Is that five words? I think so. So now I just hit that. Now is giving me templates
specific to that. You can already see O results, so these results are pre
built, right at the bottom. But at the top, you
can see magic design, which is kind of the umbrella, the branding behind
all of Canva AI. So you have magic design. You can click on all of
them to see and yeah, from there, you can even apply, you know, different
brand colors. So we would basically revise a lot of these designs
based on that. Now, I can do that, for
example, this one right here. Why not? And now I can go into elements and do
more with Jen AI. All right, so let's
say I want to do more with this image right here, and I don't want to just grab an image or start
thinking up something. So here under AI Image
generator under elements, I can click on Create
your own Image. It's actually pretty cute. So right here, right let's
not jump ahead here. I do like all these
little ducklings. But now you can,
five plus words, by the way, it doesn't have
to be five words exactly. Describe what you
like to create. Alright, so I want to say Asian family sitting
next to the Right. So putting to Asian
family sitting next up, sitting together, posing
for a family photo. Alright, something like that. Look at that. Pretty
cool, actually. If you don't like the results, you can always do
Generate again. And in this case, I think real family photos good. But I can also change
the style to anime. I'm going to click
on Generate again. There are a lot of
features to play with. I'm not trying to
exhaust all the options, but just kind of show
you sort of going from one to the other platforms and the results might be, right? Now you kind of get the idea. Those are for images, but you can also do the
same things for graphics and even videos,
which is pretty crazy. So again, under video looks like they're
powered by runway. So these are not in a way, it's not developer
native to Canva, it's an integration with runway. And runway is quite strong. So there we go. Now, let's go into the
Adobe Express side. So, again, we can
generate a template. Here, let's just start
with the template. How about poster or
Instagram Square Post? I would say, Yeah, holiday card to mail to friends and family. You notice that with
nearly all the GeneI features it's never
instantaneous. It definitely takes time. If you want to keep
generating it, you have to be a little bit
patient at least for now. H. Let's try family Greeting Card. So, I just selected one. It's
being loaded up right now. Okay, it's a vertical
image. Let it load up. If I don't want this image, I'm going to click on media, and now I can
generate new images. You click on that and say, I'll want a square image. And here, let's use
the same description. So how about Asian
family sitting together, posing for a family photo? Here, Well, look, you can
have a reference images. This is new to me. So
as you can see here, you can upload these images. Images are generated
with a style reference. We have a similar look
to the image you upload. And there's a
composition as well. You get the idea. This is definitely new but
very encouraging. Alright, I want it to be
kind of photo realistic, and let's just generate
and see what we get. Pay attention to the styles. You have movements themes, techniques and things like that. So definitely a
lot to play with. And there's always
ways to load more. Yeah, I can move these image. I can crop it if I need to. Yeah, there we go. So the
image has been generated. And one thing I would
have to remind you of is, you know, once you
generate the image, once you select the size, it's important to
not immediately navigate away from the
screen because then you kind of lose the
results that you previously generated and
have to do it again. So that's just something
to keep in mind. Alright, let me know
what you think. Now, there are many
other Gen AI features, not necessarily just, you
know, generating images. So let's play with another
example, removing object. Now, I don't want
to remove object from these family photos. So let's find another
media element, or let's find another image. This is a good one to
remove elements from. What do you think?
Like, for example. So now I, you know, Inside Adobe Express,
this is the image. And what I want to
do is basically, let's try erase specific
areas of your content, allowing the rest to show
through. That's one thing. But specifically, what we can do is actually remove object. So here, let's say, if I want
to remove what's over here, I can just paint right over it. I did paint slightly over. You go to basically resize
the brush size as well. Obviously, I should
have mentioned that and you just
click on remove. You can see what's
being highlighted. I hope it doesn't really
distort the wheel as much. So there is that. Now, you can see, it's a
little bit blurred, right? It's not super smooth. So now you can see all
the results there. You can even see, like,
what is being replaced by. So that's one
option. I can click on this image again. So discard. So now let's do insert object. How about bike helmet? And then here I can change
the brush size right here. I want a helmet, kind of insert right
here and insert. Alright, much better, I think. There are different
options you can play with, different types of
helmet. Not bad, right? What I like about it, it's like it knows which direction
it's, like, kind of, you know, flat on the table or on the ground, and
that's really interesting. So I think the Gen AI
images typically tend to, I would say, fluctuate and
they're not always consistent. They're not always
reliable, ready to use. And you just have to
kind of use your mind, use your own thinking to decide what makes sense to insert, what to remove from the image. Alright, let's test
out some images here inside Kanda. Shall we? Alright. I'm going to make
it pretty simple here. Let me add a new image, and Alright, pretend that this is the
image we're dealing with. Now, by clicking on that, what we can play with
is edit the image. So as soon as you try
to edit this image, now you're being introduced or brought back to
the magic studio, all these adjustments and
features are showing up now. You can apply filters,
but in this case, we're playing with
magic erase, right? So how about we erase a
character from this image? There are two ways to do
where to go about it. One is so you can use basically the brush and then just like
paint over this person. It doesn't have to completely
accurate. You can. It's a really large brush, and then click on erase and see what happens
along the edges. Again, you see, it's a
little bit blurred, right? So now what I'm going to do
is reset the tools, confirm. And what I'd like to
do is actually use this click functionality because now it outlines all
the characters. I'm going to click on
her and say erase. So I don't know what
happened there. I think it's a jacket
that's getting pulled over, but you can see the shadow
the person is still there. So I can click on this and say erase again and
wonder what happens. There is definitely more logic involved than you would think, and it's not always easy to remove different
characters, you know. But look, the bench is being repainted
and things like that. That is pretty impressive. Let's go back to the features, and in this case, we
can see magic grab. You can grab different objects. And so let's click grab and you can move
this character, as well. So that's pretty cool. There are AI features that are available, so right here,
once you grab her, you can see, like, top of her head is actually
missing a little bit. So if you are and also it
doesn't make sense because she really doesn't have her
right arm painted just yet. So you can raise this person, but now it's getting
looking a little bit weird. Right. So that is something
that you can play with. I don't think it's
perfect, frankly, either in Canada or
in Adobe Express. It's situational, based on
what you're trying to create. So today's assignment
is for you to play with basically JNAI. You know, there are
multiple features. There are some quick actions, by the way, I'll list them and let you
know what they are. Quick actions often refer something you can do
very, very quickly. You can upload an image, upload an audio, and then, you know, basically have anda and Adobe Express work on them
and see what you get. So, you know, play with them. If you are lacking images
that you want to play with, I highly recommend that
you really look into, for example, inside Canva. They will be called elements, and you can search for
different elements. Remember, inside Adobe Express, they're called media
inside which you have access to photos,
videos, even audio. And in this case, I
recommend you play with photos to begin with.
And it's really fun. So um, yeah, get started and see what you
can make out of Janai. And I recommend you write
down the features and things and challenges that you run into with your experiments, as well as trying to recall what you struggled with in
the past, as well. You know, did you
take an awkward photo with someone who didn't want to be in the photo anymore and you couldn't use that image
your social media? Can you now remove that person? I have an example using myself, and I'm going to include that really quick tutorial
under 1 minute, as well, just so you
can check it out. So with so much love for this community, be
kind to yourself. The transition is not easy from app to
app, and good luck. And I hope this community
will support you with the transition from
Canva to Adobe Express. I'll see you in the next lesson.
8. Video Editing Essentials: Alright. So in this video, I want to talk to you
about how to edit videos using Canva
versus Adobe Express. Now, if you're new to video
editing or, you know, you're one of those
designers primarily use either Canva or Adobe
Express for design purposes, like working with the
imagery, you're going to find this part a
little bit daunting at first because not everybody is necessarily directly going
to these design platforms, trying to edit videos. You know, typically for
you, YouTubers like myself, even though I'm not I don't consider myself a
professional video editor. I'm pretty familiar
with Final Cup Pro, and that's kind of what
I'm comfortable with. So what is that transition like? Now, if you haven't used
Canva for video editing, you can actually
switch right directly into Adobe Express and just play with video
editing there. There's kind of no reason
for you to even try to learn how to use Canva if you're not going to stay with
their subscription. But for the sake of people who are very familiar with
editing in Canva, and now they have to
do this in Adobe. I do want to show you some similarities and
some differences. But again, if you are brand
new and to video editing, you just want to start
with Adobe Express, I'm going to include a
timestamp below to help you navigate right to Adobe Express. That particular section. If you just want to learn
how to edit videos, we're just getting started
using Adobe Express, you can certainly skip
the Cava part altogether. I've included a
timestamp for you to jump right to Adobe
Express video editing. So just take a look at
the description below. So with that said,
all right, let's start with a clean design. So what I want to do
is actually go back to the homepage of Canda
and in this case, I want to say,
create a new design. In this case, I want
to choose a video. And if I can't see the template. Well, it's right here
on the left hand side, you can certainly type in video. Because when you do
that, let's take a look. It's not just one type of video. It's not just vertical
or a landscape. There's a lot you can play with, and there's Facebook videos. There's also remember,
there's like Instagram stories and
things like that. Sometimes, for your assignment today, just start
with a blank one. Don't think too much
about, you know, how to optimize the
video just yet, but just getting familiar with the editing process because we're just talking about
a few simple clicks. Let's click on video and just
creating a simple video. Now, to do that, let's see. Actually, for easy
demonstration, I'm going to click
on C all and I'm going to look at it one example because we're kind of
demonstrating side by side, I am going to just
do a vertical video, so it's easier for
you guys to see. But remember, you can
certainly do square videos. You can do landscape
videos as well to customize this template. I recommend that you
start with a template just so you see
what is possible. You can see these
different scenes, right? And you can see the duration. You can see all the features, functionalities of what
you can do within cama. You can see how they're
being sliced up. You can see how the
text overlay works. Let's do the same thing on the right hand side with
Adobe Express videos. So again, I'm going to
start from scratch. Let me go back to the
homepage of Adobe Express, and I'm going to click on videos right here. There's
some quick actions. If you guys don't
want to edit videos, you just want to trim them, you just want to resize them, merge two videos, for
example, crow videos. These quick actions are going
to save you so much time. But if you're going to create
like, you know, a regular, let's say, Instagram reel, we can browse the template here. And then let me pick
something that's maybe slightly more interesting.
Yeah, how about this? Ooh, Halloween Related
again. Alright, there we go. And you can see right off the bat the editing features
and how they differ. So first of all, once I click
on this little purple line, you can see that
the audio tracks is now you can see sort
of the wavelength. You can actually
see the details. On the right hand side,
inside Adobe Express, you can certainly add video, which there isn't any just yet. So I'm going to go ahead and
show you how to do that. So we're going to
click on Add Video, and I already knows like Erie. Let's see this. Real quick. Why not? You're not going
to be able to hear as much because I'm
recording into this mic. So all I have to do is drag and drop in it knows the length of the duration of the video, so it's not going to
give you all 60 seconds of it because the video
is only 6 seconds. And then now, you know, really just about playing around and trying
to do a few things. So, number one, about how
to delete or add a scene. So I'm not trying to create
a perfect video here. To delete a scene simply using the delete
button, and it's gone. If you regret doing
that, just Control Z. Doesn't matter if
you're on PC or Mac, Control Z or basically
reverse the action. Now to add a new scene
or add a new page, in this case, click
on the plus sign. By default, it's 5 seconds, but you can certainly, you know, increase the duration
if you want to. And then you can
upload your own video, or you can simply go to remember elements and add a video.
So how about we do that? So let's go ahead and say, short Look some for
video assets here. I'm just going to do
something super random. You can see now it's basically
a landscape video, right? So to resize it, you're going to click on it and basically, you know, just align it to
the edge. And that's it. Not only that, you can
double click on this asset, and you can actually focus on whichever part that
you want to focus on for that video.
It's pretty nice. Alright, let's see
how we add a scene. So add a scene versus Ada page, right, it's called Ada scene inside Adobe
Express. Same thing. You know, you can use your own
footage, or, in this case, I'm going to go to Media
and then go to video. And here, let's do this
crazy thing right here. So I'm going to
just again, dragon. This part is very, very similar. I double click, I
can move it around. Okay? So, pretty
straightforward. Now, about cutting and, you know, this is a
ten second video. If I want to apply a cut, all I have to do is two things. Right click if you're
using a mouse like I do, right click on this asset, and then just do split page. Now, the shortcut for that is S, literally the letter
S on your keyboard. Now, over here inside
Adobe Express, I'm going to right
click select split, and the shortcut, again, is
also S. Pretty cool, right? Alright. Now, since we
did the hover over, let's see what else you can
do with the right click. So back in Canva, right click, we have add page or
duplicate this page, will literally be duplicating
the exact same ***, same video. You can delete it. You can hide it. You
can log the page, so you can't really
apply further edits including you can
add new images, you can't add text
or things like that. Copy link to this page, copy the style, add notes. Now, over here inside
Adobe Express, we're going to
right click right? Either right click, we're
clicking the three dots. Same thing. You can duplicate the scene, delete the scene, split,
which we already did, apply duration to all
or hide layered timing. Now, pretty similar. So
there you go, right? But for the most part, guys, I would say, these are like
the basic functionality. If you're trying to fine tune, you know, to be
like half a second, a quarter of a second
perfect type of editing, I would not personally recommend using Canva
or Adobe Express. That's when you need to
really dive into tools, which I'm going to include
in the description below. You know, by default,
a lot of people using Final Cap Pro or Adobe Premiere, but also there are free options like I movie that's going to allow you to really trim
it to the precise second, half a second, quarter second. They're also tools that
are phrase such as CapCOTF people who like to
use free software out there. It's a really good
one, and Capcot is created by TikTok
as part of Tik Tok. And another tool that I think it's quite promising as well. It's called Fumoras part of the company
called Wonder Share, and Fumora is their
video editing tool. There's a lot of AI
features built in. So if you're looking concise and very detailed
professional video editing. These apps will not replace the other ones I
just talked about. That's something
to keep in mind. But with that said, it is so convenient to
have all the different, you know, text overlays, for example, and have these video assets
already available too. You remember you can
search for videos. Like, you can even say corporate videos, like
corporate office. If you need something as B role, guys, that you can
just overlay that. Speaking which you could
have one of your A role, like your sit down
video, and then, you know, you can always overlay this corporate video as
you're talking, right? So this way that just visually
it's more interesting. If you don't use tools
such as you know, Adobe Express or
Canva, in this case, you'll have to look for
those BR elsewhere, such as pexels.com, Unsplash. I don't know if Unsplash
has videos yet, but you have to look them
elsewhere and import them. And here is just so easy
in addition to that, you have the text effects, transitions, and things like
speaking of transitions. That's something I
do want to mention. If you don't want the
scenes of these videos to transition very harshly
from one thing to another, what you might want to include is a transition. So
let's talk about that. Alright, so inside Canva, the transition it's
called page Animation. Remember, it's called Animations inside Canva and scenes
inside Adobe Express. So once you do that,
you can actually, you know, click
on some of these. Pages already have transitions. So this one's called simple. So once you click on that,
you can actually change it, you know, fun, and you
can always do a playback. To see the difference.
So that's it. Play with simple transitions. And here, inside Adobe Express, you can also add transitions, but it's a little more
intuitive, in my opinion. So let me expand
this real quick. As you can see,
there is a plus sign between each and every
one of these two scenes. So you're going to
click on the plus sign. And here you can say add scenes, or add basically where I'll add another
page inside Canva. You can add a scene
add more videos or you can click
on Add transition. So right here, you
have, you know, each one of these transitions
and click on that. You can preview, and
then you can basically, let's add another transition. So you have dip to white. Dissolve, push, slide, and wipe. So I like the preview to show you exactly
what they look like. So please have fun
with video editing. The conclusion here is that it probably is
going to take you, honestly, working inside here, a good 20, 30 minutes, just get a sense
for the features available and focus on
your story line, right? At the end of the
day, it's not so much about these transitions and kind of slick elements that's going to make
your story pop. It's about the story
you're unveiling. And if you have good
imagery, good storytelling, and good videos, even if
it's a little bit blurry, remember, audio is more
important than video. You can still tell a
story. You can have Texo really. So, have fun. Nobody can become like a Netflix director or
Hollywood star overnight. I think video editing, video creation is so fun. I hope you enjoy the process. Learn something and teach
me in the comments below. So today, your assignment
is to create a short video. Again, don't focus on getting those ten,
15 minute videos. Think about what
you might create as really short vertical
Instagram story or Instagram real. That's it. If you don't have Instagram,
you're on YouTube, you can do something similar
like YouTube shorts. Consider a short video, regardless of the orientation. Short, funky, cool, may
even just be a few seconds. If that's intimidating,
you don't have a lot of materials to work with you on
your phone or in real life. Remember that you can always rely on these media assets and, you know, search for anything you want and put
something together. So good luck, and I'm going to see you in
the next video. Bye.
9. Thank you for completing the course! Final Words: Back. I am so thrilled. I'm so proud of you for
completing this course. Again, this is from
Face World Media, and I know there's
so many courses for you to choose from
on skill share. I am really grateful
that you have chosen mine and spend
the time with me. I would love for you
to review this course, let us know in the comments, what else you would like to see, how you like this course
to be refreshed and perhaps for me to talk about
and add other features. I am a creator and I
have been since 2014, and in the past number of years, I've been working full
time as a content creator, as an online teacher, primarily on YouTube and I
also have my own clients. I think this course,
as I was visioning it, I really want to ground in the practical aspect of the day to day life of a
creator and a business owner. I want to be your friend
sitting next to you to walk you through lesson by lesson,
feature by feature. With that said, I also
want to remind you that switching going
from one app to another, no matter how similar or how easy it appears
to be on the surface, actually takes time,
effort, and patience. I noticed this myself
even over the course of a few years using and
really leveraging, being very in tune with both
Canada and Adobe Express. There are things that
I feel a little stuck. Switching from one app or
the other, goes both ways. So please know that
as a professional, I too feel the pressure. I want you to know
that, whether it's you or a loved one or
colleague or friend. Be patient with the transition, be patient with
learning in general, and knowing that
we are advocating for you, we're all
in this together. In fact, one more
thing I do want to mention is that
on the surface, learning a new tool
like Adobe Express takes time and time is the most precious
thing when we're busy as creators and
small business owners. We don't want to
do that. We want this to be taken care of for us. But remember, by learning
a tool yourself, you are only more empowered and you have
become a teacher. I love wearing this t shirt. It says teach
everything you know. Now, you can teach these
skills to other people. You may be in a conversation with another creator and
small business owner. You can let them know
about Adobe Express. For that reason, I'm really
grateful for you to be here, and I really want to share the final segment to let
you know that you're not alone and I'm very proud of what you
have accomplished. So be patient with yourself. And love this journey
that you've taken on. I hope to see you in
another course very soon, please follow us
at FaceWorldFEIS, WORLD on social media, and we have a newsletter
as well that continues to share the tips and tricks of
how to be a more productive, happy, chill and
laid back creator and enjoy your life for choosing the work that you're
doing. See you next time.
