1. Intro: Are you ready to get creative crafting diamond patterns? In this class, we will create three seamless diamond pattern styles. They can be used for all kinds of lovely projects. So grab your iPad, get cozy, and let's get creating together. 2. Class Download: I'm going to quickly show you how to download the color palette for the class. And something important to know is that you will need to be on a web browser and not the Skillshare app to access the downloads. I'll be using Google Chrome. So right below this video, you will see some tabs. We will go to the Projects and Resources tab. Scroll down and you will see Download resources. Tap on the color palette swatch file. Now, you'll see this little menu come on at the bottom, tap on Download, then open in and select Procreate. And it will automatically import your color palette to the Procreate Now, it usually places the palette at the very bottom, so we can just scroll to the bottom, hold on the palette, and scroll all the way up to bring it to the very top. Now that we have our palette, we are ready to begin class. 3. Classic Diamond Pattern: Before we begin the class, I would like to show you some examples of what we will create. So I've created three examples of what we will make in the class. We will start off with a two tone diamond pattern just like this. Then I will show you how to create a three tone pattern, kind of like a gingham style. And then finally, we will create a multicolor diamond pattern. So to start off, we will create a canvas that is 12 " by 12 ". So we will just make sure we are on inches and that our DPI is at 300 and our color profile will be at RGB. And now we can tap on Create. So we'll start off with our background layer. So we'll make sure we're on a brand new empty layer. And I have created a color palette for the class. You can use that and follow along with me, or you can use whatever color you like. So I'll start off with this light green color as our background, and I'm just going to drag and drop the color in to fill the canvas. Now I'll create a brand new layer above that, and this will be our diamonds. So we will grab the darker green color, and we'll do the exact same thing. We will just drag and drop the color. So I'm going to make sure I'm on that dark green color layer. And I'm just going to tap right here on this little arrow icon. And right here, I am going to tap on Rotate 45 and then fit to Canvas. And now we can deselect it. So to begin the process of creating the diamond pattern, we want to add some guides so we know where everything will snap into place. So I will tap on my little wrench icon. I will make sure I am on Canvas, and I will select drawing guides. Now I'll tap on Edit drawing guides, and we can go into our symmetry options and make sure it is quadrant because we want it to be divided into four equal squares. Now we can click on DE. So what we want is to get this square into each one of the four spaces. We're going to duplicate this four times. We have our original. We're going to duplicate that one. I'm always going to duplicate my original one so it doesn't start losing the quality of the square. I will duplicate it again and then one last time till I have four diamond square shapes. I will turn these off and I will start with the bottom one. I'm going to select it, and now I will make sure to place it right into this square. So we will make sure our snapping and magnetics are turned on. That will make it snap right in the middle and be perfectly placed in this first quadrant. So I can just grab this little node and drag it all the way to it snaps right in place. And you will see these yellow cross hairs come on. That means it is perfectly placed. Now we can deselect it. And we will do that to each one of our diamonds. So we got that one. We can go to our next one and we will turn that one on select it, and this time we will place it in this upper corner. So I'll drag it till it snaps, Deselect. We'll do our next one exactly the same. And finally, our last diamond. And deselect it. And that is the pattern right there. So now we can test it and make sure that it looks good, and then we can play around with the color. So with three fingers, I will swipe down. I will tap on copy all three fingers swipe down and paste. So it has merged everything into one layer so I can test it. So now I can just scale it to each one of the corners. I will duplicate it and slide it over, and this is where you can see and make sure it is repeating seamlessly and that everything looks good. We can turn off our guides to get a closer look and that looks perfect. As you can see, all the diamonds are hitting just perfectly. Nothing's overlapping. I don't see any hairlines. This pattern is ready to go and it is a seamless pattern. I'm just going to pinch these test layers so they are in one unit. And as you can see, I did not merge down my diamonds because this is the part we can then play with the color. So we want to keep those all on their own separate layer. So that is how you do a diamond pattern. In the next lesson, I will show you how to create a two color A. This is a two color. I will show you how to create a three color diamond pattern, and then we will create a multi colour diamond pattern. 4. Gingham Diamond Pattern: In this next lesson, I will show you how to create this diagonal, a diamond style pattern in a twoton it almost looks like it's a gingham pattern, but diagonal. So we will go to our original master file, and I always like to duplicate it in case I don't like something or I can come back to it later. So we will swipe left and tap on duplicate. So now I will go into that new file and here is our test pattern. I'm going to just delete that so we can avoid any confusion. And this is why we left all our diamonds individual because now it will be easy to change out the color. So I'm going to make sure that all of my diamonds are on Alpha lock so I can easily drag and drop the color. You can either do that by tapping on the layer and tapping on Alpha lock or with two fingers, you can just swipe right. And it will turn Alpha lock on. Okay. So we're going to start with our background color. That's this color. And we're going to use this beautiful almost fall palette for this next project. So I'll get my lightest color, and I will just drag and drop it into the background layer. Now, we're going to do a little moving around, but we're going to start as this with our base. So I'm going to make sure each one of these is going to be this medium color, like a burnt orange. So I can tap on it and tap the layer, or I can just drag and drop the color in if I want. Okay. Now, to get that really cool gingham woven effect, I am going to duplicate one of my diamonds, and we're going to make sure we place it on each one of these four corners. We're not going to fill these edges, have them on these corners. So we'll start off by turning our drawing guides on and I'm going to grab my bottom original diamond, and I'm going to just duplicate that one. And now I will select it, and it's this one right here, and I want to make sure it is perfectly in the middle. So I will just slide it over till it hits the middle and then slide it down. And you'll see these yellow lines will come on when it's right in the center. Now I can deselect it. You can't see it right now, but we are going to fill that with this dark orange color. So I can just drag and drop the color in to fill it. Now, we're going to be moving this diamond to these four corners. I'm going to duplicate that four times. There's our first one. I will duplicate it once, back to my original, and I will duplicate it again, and then one last time and I will duplicate it. So now we can start with our bottom one, and I will select it. And we're going to bring it all the way up till the middle of the diamond snaps right up into place, and it will snap perfectly. So we will just slide it up till it snaps. And as you can see, these yellow lines turn on, and it is right in the middle of our diamond, so we can deselect it. We're going to do that again with our next diamond. This is why it's very important to have snapping at magnetics on because it will snap directly into place. We'll go all the way down to our little nodes, which indicate the center of the diamond snap right into place and we can deselect it. Now we're going to do that for our two sides. We'll grab our diamond and slide it over. Deselect it on our last one slide it over, till it snaps. And now we can pinch all our little pieces together. As you can see, it's the top and the sides. Now we can test our pattern and see if it looks how we like it and if everything is lining up perfectly. I'll make sure I'm on my top layer. The fingers swipe down, copy all, three fingers swipe down and paste. Now we can just slide it into the four quadrants, duplicate it and just slide it over till I fill the canvas. That looks really good. I want to make it just a little smaller so I can make sure everything is exactly how I want. I will pinch my test layers. I'll select the whole thing. Slide it over. I'm going to duplicate it, slide it over until I fill the entire canvas. Now I can turn off my guides to make sure that everything lines up perfectly, I can zoom in. I'm not seeing any hairlines or any weird overlapping diamonds. That is how you create a two tone diagonal diamond pattern, and I think it's so beautiful. We can pinch these and keep that on its own layer and play around with the different colors. It's really fun when you start mixing and matching different shades and tones for your patterns. So in our final lesson, I will show you how to do a multicolor diamond pattern. 5. Multicolor Diamond Pattern: So in this final lesson, I will show you how to create a multicolor almost checkerboard style pattern. So again, we're going to go to our original file and I will just duplicate that, and we will be working on our new duplicated file. So I will go to my layers, and again, I will just delete my test pattern from earlier, and I'm going to turn on Alpha lock for each one of my diamonds. So we'll start off with our background color, and we'll go to our palettes, and we'll use this final palette right here. It's a really fun kind of circus style palette. So I'll grab my lightest color, and I will make sure I am on my background color, and I will just drag and drop the color in. Now, each one of these squares will be one of the different colors. So we can just start with the blue, and I'm going to identify which one of my diamonds, so it's this one. And I can just tap on fill layer. And then we will grab our next color, this darker burnt orange color. And again, I'm going to identify I want to fill this one. So it's this one. I can just either fill layer or drag and drop the color. Now I want to color in this one. I'll grab my next color, this green color, make sure I'm on the right diamond, fill layer, and finally, this one, I will make sure I'm on the right layer, grab my yellow color and you can alternate these. I'm thinking I want to put the green one here and put the yellow one over here. I can easily switch that out. I'll go to my green layer and fill it and I'll turn this on this yellow one into the green one. You can just play around with where you like the colors to touch each other. Now we can test it. That is our repeating pattern. Again, we will make sure we're on our layer at the top, three fingers swipe down, copy all and paste. I'm going to turn on my drawing guides just to make sure everything snaps into place and fill my canvas. I'm going to make it just a bit smaller, so I'll pinch all my layers and just do the exact same thing. I like a good, big view so I can make sure everything is lining up perfectly, and I can see how my colors would look on a big swatch. And now I can turn off my guides and check and make sure everything lines up perfect and we don't have any hairlines and that looks great. So that, my friends, is how you create a two tone, a three tone gingham style, and a checkerboard multicolor style diamond pattern. I can't wait to see what you will create. 6.
