1. Introduction: All animals have two eyes, two ears, and amount. Just like us. They are completely different and difficult to create on paper with just one method. But with this class, you are in luck. Hi, I'm sure folly. And in this class I will teach you how to establish the basic framework for animal had rights and use it in your drinks in a few simple steps. You can use any material to draw a sketch, book, pencil, or even Procreate. So get ready to learn. Some of my tried and tested techniques for three-dimensional animal has dried. We will start off with practicing the basic of constructing shapes and forms. Then we will add different expressions and emotions to our head drawings. Then I will show you how you can use these ideas in your own projects. Additional resources, you will receive a free drying brush pack for Procreate. A PDF and PSD file with the collection of animal handwriting's expressions and references. This class is for beginners. But if you are an experienced tried, I'm sure there will be something in it for you to add to your repertoire. Let's get started. 2. Resources: For this trying gloss, you can use paper, pencil, or any digital software. I'm using Procreate on my iPad with an Apple pencil. I'm providing you a set of drawing brushes along with other resources meant for this class. My class. Under the Project and Resources section, you will find everything you need for this course to get brushes, tap it once. Download, then from Downloads, upload them to the Brush Library in Procreate. Here as t drying brush set. Using paper, pencil. I would make some suggestions. Use heavyweights, catching people. This is my sketch book. It has a medium textured surface, heavyweight paper and is suitable for pencil, charcoal, and even light washes. These are the colored pencils which are used. These are steadily lunar watercolor pencils. They're available in many colors. They're very bright and they do not smudge it all. Use a lighter color for rough work and then a darker shade for the final. Here are some pictures from my drink. 3. Class project: Your class project is to draw three animal heads, which can be three different fields of the same animal or different animals. You can draw three different expressions of the same or they're different animals. You can draw animals which I have shown in this class, or the animals which you share your final rings with the class by uploading them in the project section below. The project have two parts. The cover image, which is six by four inches, and the images which can have any dimensions. But the size should be small, about two MB. It will look great. If you could name your work and write a few lines about it for everyone to see. I would love to check them out and seizure creative side. Also, if you draw along with me, your project will be ready to upload at the end of this class. 4. Practice exercises: For practice, I will use this string bridge. This is pressure sensitive and has a lot of texture. You can sketch and right, with the same brush. And if you tilt it a bit, you can share it as well. I'll be using this brush for this entire course. Practice drawing ellipses of different sizes, shapes, and from all directions to build up muscle memory. Grow light with low pressure. Joined about two to three shapes together. Draw ellipses inside these shapes into perpendicular directions. Now use this brush as an eraser. It has low opacity. It is a bit and start drying over these rough lines. Start outlining first. Then add this form lines inside the ellipses. It will convert these 2D shapes into three-dimensional forms with volume and prospective. Destroying keywords of different shapes and from different angles. Start with a rectangle and complete the box. Find center points of these lines. Join them. Then use an eraser and draw nice curved lines over them. Learning this will make your angles perfect every time. This drawing them from different angles. 5. Making the template: Before starting with animal, Let's create a template for it. Start with these two guidelines. Row three rough circles inside, as we will be drawing three different fields for each animal. For the front view, draw two perpendicular lines inside the circle. Draw two small circles above this horizontal line. On both sides of the vertical line. Then draw an oval for nose and mouth. Then above the eyes on both sides of the head. Draw two circles for years. For the profile view. Only one line in the center of the circle. Then one small circle at the corner. And half of an oval below the circle. Above the eyes. Near the center of circle is the police who is. Now for the quarter. We'll start with the same perpendicular lines, then draw two ellipses around them. This is the new place for two small circles. Drawing oval below this. Then here is the place for the ears. Ear may or may not be visible according to the animal we're entering. Now I will duplicate this layer twice and create a template. If you imagine your animal had to be three-dimensional, you will be able to draw it from different angles while making sure it always looks the same animal. Now, let's rotate it and tilt the head. For this exercise, I will do this template. It's very simple to make just two lines inside the circle. Before rotating the head, think about how our head is rotated by the neck. It can rotate upward, downwards, right or left. So let's rotate it. I'm using the same brush. You use no opacity of this layer and start with a new above. Draw an ellipse around the vertical line. Then this is the place for the eyes. It means the head is rotated left side. Now the head has rotated right side. If we change the shape of this ellipse, the place for the eyes and the angle of the head will also change. If we draw an ellipse around the horizontal line, the head is rotated upwards or downwards. Again, if we change the shape of an ellipse place where eyes and the angle of head will also change. No, let's think of this vertical line has the axes of the globe. Then tilt it up. Draw around this line. One more ellipse around the horizontal line. This creates a new place for eyes and a different angle for the head. Let's try a few more direction. 6. How to use the template: Let's start with the template we have drawn before. I will start with the front view. Lower the opacity of this layer and start with an Uber. These two small circles or fluorides. Then I will divide this over into nodes to export muscle. And a semicircle for the lower lip. Two semi-circles for the ears, chin, cheeks. I will complete the head shape. According to the circle of the template. I will follow the same workflow. It is a bit using the low-pass t. Raise it, then draw over this rough. Let's start with eyes, pupils, eyebrows. Then knows Muslim, lower lip, cheeks, chin, and ears. For profile view, only one eye is visible. Then from the bottom of tie, draw straight line, which is the nose line and tip of it will be the nodes. Then drawing for the muscle or the polyp. Draw one mark arc below this for the lower lip. Semicircle for a year. And a big semicircle for cheek. Then complete the head shape according to the circle of the template. Again, I will follow the same workflow and draw over these last lines. For the quarter view. Start with the eyes. Draw one eye is smaller than the tissue, our perspective and our cover. And two lines at some angle. Then draw rectangle below this. Find the center points of lines and join them. Then one more rectangle for the lower lip. There's no need to draw other lines. Now, I will use low opacity Eraser and start over, starting with dice. Then draw a nose on the top line of the rectangle. And Northbridge lines starting from the center of dice to the tip of the nose and below the nose for the upper lip. And the muscle. One more smaller for the other side of muscle. One arc for the lower lip. Semi-circles for the ears. One will be smaller than the other. Complete the ISP pill, and then semicircle for CI. And complete the head shape according to the circle of the template. 7. References: For references, there are many websites which provide free pictures for personal use, like Unsplash and Paxil.com. Pixel.com is my favorite one. Download the picture and create your own mood board. I have provided a link to my Pinterest board under the resources section. This is my opinion, twist boat, and it is categorized into various animal groups, like farm animals, domestic animals, and so on. These groups are subdivided into individual animals. I'm also providing you a workbook both in PDF and PSD files. They know about seven different groups, two pictures of each animals, ranks of three different fields for each animal. And some options given four different head shapes and other facial features. I will show you some tips for using these pictures as references. Look for proportions, shape, and placement of facial features on the animal. And then draw them from reference. Compare angles of different facial features, and then try to come up with variations in shapes and sizes. Practice doing this and make your own library of alternatives while using references, look for some special characteristics of that animal, which makes it different from the other animals of its own category. Like cow has a wider forehead, big guys, big nostrils, wide mouth, which makes it different from other animals. For the front view, muscle appears compressed and this has a tendency to flatten the look of the face. If the muscle starts to look flat, it will lose their distinctive quality. That makes a cow look like a cow, a pig look like a pig. So there we will use the foreshortening principle or perspective, but rank them in a way that it appears to be getting larger as it gets closer to the viewer. For the profile view, consider the angle between the Northbridge line and the eyes. Then accordingly. Practice drawing animals with emotions. Otherwise they will look stiff in place. 8. Cow: Let's start with the front view of the cow. To small circles for the eyes. Start dragging the angle from the center of n over two small circles for the nostril at the corners of the rectangle. And two lines for nose bridge. Small rectangle for the lower lip. Draw two leaf-like ears on both sides of the head. Then row two horns at the top of the forehead. Too big semi-circles for the cheeks. Then complete the head shaped by drawing around the facial features. Row lines inside the ears to show overlapping. Choose low opacity Eraser, Andhra over the rough lines. Row peoples and eyebrows. Here is how I draw hones, drawing ellipse at the base of the home. Then draw a few wrinkle lines around it. Add some shade inside the ears and nose. For the profile view only one I will be visible. Length and angle of muslin to the eye will determine if it's a profile view of Go. Draw a rectangle at the end of nose line. Then one more rectangle for the lower lip. A big semicircle for cheap. Draw, a nice curve for Northbridge. Then draw is above the eyes, near the center, but in a horizontal position, then row homes, only one or both horns can be visible. Use low opacity Eraser and draw over there of lines at pupils and eyebrows. Add some shade inside the ears, nostrils, and horns. For the quarter review, I will be smaller following the foreshortening principle. Start drawing the rectangle from the center of an oval. Draw two circles for most drills and two lines for most bridge. Rectangle for lower lip. Draw yields. One will be smaller than other row horns. One will be smaller than the other. To add some depth to the drawing. Draw nice curve to the nose bridge line. Draw arcs following the rectangle lines to get a perfect shape for the muzzle. Big semicircle for the cheeks. Then complete the head shape according to the front. We'll use low opacity. It is it Andrew over the rough lines, drop pupils, and eyebrows. Here are some tips on adding the variation to the concept. Experiment with drawing different shapes for the head. The cow has a wide forehead and a big nose, which can be exaggerated and made. We go then the forehead. Try drawing different shapes for the muscle. Experiment with those shapes and placement of the eyes. The user use Lisman, but their shape can be varied. Very the placement of haunts between the ears. 9. Pig: Let's start with the front view of peak to small circles for the eyes. Starting drawing a big rectangle from the center of animal. Draw our triangular snowed inside the rectangle. And two small ovals for nostrils. Draw small rectangle for lowly. Then draw ears on both sides of the head. Draw two semi-circles for the cheats and complete the hatchery. We're drying around the facial features. You use low opacity Eraser and draw over the rough lines, draw pupils and eyebrows. Ears with three angled lines. If we change the angles of lines in the direction of ears will also change. Is can be triangular or leaf-shaped. Some shapes inside the nostrils and ears. For the profile view, only one I will be visible. Draw a rectangle at the end of the nose line. Draw foreshortened ellipsis for nostrils. Dry now for the upper lip. And one more for draw our triangular shaped ear near the center above the eyes. Complete the head shape according to the front-wheel. Nice wrinkle lines to the nose line. Then use low opacity Eraser and draw over the rough lines. For the quarter view. One, I will be smaller following the foreshortening principle. Draw a big rectangle near the center of an oval. Draw nosebleed lines. As my rectangle for the lower lip. Draw our triangle for this node inside the big rectangle. And two small ovals for nostrils. Row is one year with this model to add some depth. A big semicircle for cheeks. Draw arcs following the rectangular lines to get a perfect shape for the muscles. Draw wrinkle lines around the nose bridge. Complete that shape according to the front view. The angels low opacity Eraser and row over there are flights, drop pupils, and I add some shade inside the nostrils and needs. Here are some tips to add variation to the pig set. Fixed peculiar feature is it's not draw as many variations as you can. It has around to be head. So experiment with exaggerating its shape. Very the ears to show expressiveness. 10. Giraffe: Let's start with the front view of tariff to small circles for the eyes. Draw a white rectangle starting from the lower half of n over two small circles for the nostrils and a small rectangle for the lower lip. Draw two nose bridge lines. Row to smile. Leaf-like is above the eyes on both sides of tied to home like structures on the top of the head, between the ears. Complete the head shape. We're drawing around the facial features. Using low opacity, raise it and draw over there of lights, add pupils and I grow. Then draw dark and crisp lines over there of lights. Add some shade inside the nostrils and is now for the profile view only one I will be visible. Length and angle of nose line to the eye will determine if it's a profile view of Giraph row two small rectangles for the upper lip and lower lip as an oval biting lip. So extremities or not for the lower lip. Week semicircle for cheek. Drawing here above the eyes near the center. Draw horns and complete the head shape according to the front view. Using low opacity Eraser and drove a lot of lines. Drop your building eyebrows. Complete the head shaped by dragging over the reference. For the quarter view. One, I will be smaller following the foreshortening principle. Drawn most blood lines. And then a rectangle starting from the lower half of n over two small circles for the nostril. It hasn't over biting lip. Extend this rectangle and then a rectangle for newly, these rectangles will have to get the nice shape for muscle. A big semicircle for cheek. Draw ears. One will be smaller than the other. Draw horns. The top of the forehead. Then complete the head shape. According to the front view. Using low capacity reserve and drove a little flights at pupils. And I wrote, add some shade inside the nostrils. And here are some tips on adding the variation to the Giraph set. They have very peculiar home like structures on their head. And leaf-like is. So experiment with the tuft of hair on the tip of the homes and the shape of sports on their body are two very interesting features to play with. Based on differentiate combinations. For that, there are a variety of lower lip modifications, like big, small, wide, or narrow. 11. Lion: Let's start with the front view of line. Two small circles for the eyes. Draw a white rectangle from the center of. Draw small, thick and solid nose. To smell up for the muscle. And a rectangle for the lower lip. Draw our triangular shape. Forehead. Draw two triangular smile is, and complete the head shape. Draw a heart shape for the mean. Using low opacity Eraser in row over there or friends, drop pupils and eyebrows. Grow short lines for me in here. Here are a few variations for mean here. When two of clouds or just noodles. Different main shapes for radiation. Now for the profile view only one I will be visible. Northbridge line is small and low angle. Then draw a rectangle at its tip to get nice shape for the muscle. Rho, small nose and the tip of the nose line, broader jaw line. It also differentiates the line from other goods. Complete the head shape. Rather main shape according to the front view of lines and use low opacity Eraser and draw over roughly at pupils. And I rose for the quarter. We'll start with this one. I will be smaller following the foreshortening principle, draw a white rectangle starting from the center or fulfill. Draw two. Most bridge lines. Draw small n wide nose, upper lip and lower lip. It has the scary shape of muscle. Follow this rectangle lines to get a perfect shape for the muscle. Draw ears when you will be smaller than the complete the Hetchy. Draw the main shape according to the front view. Then use low opacity and draw over these lines. With dark NPS plants. At pupils and eyebrows. Add small lines inside the ears to show overlapping. Here are some tips to show the variation. In the line side. Practice trying different main shapes for the line. Test out different shape combinations for the head by splitting it into two. Remember that the line is known for its smile and solid nos. So try not to over-exaggerate it. 12. Elephant: Let's start with the front view of elephant to small circles. Start with an arc over the oval for the nice trunk shape. Add variety to its shape and thicknesses. Like big, small, wide or narrow, straight or curved. Here is the method to draw any kind of cause or twists to the trunk. Start with the small ships. Join them and we will get a nice curvy trunk. Then these inflate ellipses will help to get directional wrinkled. Then draw two big semi-circles for cheats. Then comes big flat years at nice girls and cuts to them. Then using low opacity and draw lines at pupils and gross. And add nice wrinkle lines to the trunk. For the profile view, only one I will be visible. Start drawing in our full trunk from the base of the ice and draw nice curvy shape for the trunk. Then draw ears above the eyes. Near the center. A big semicircle for cheats. Use low opacity and draw over raw flights. At pupils anhydrous. Also add task below the cheek and complete the head shape. For the quarter. We'll start with the eyes. One eye will be smaller, following the foreshortening principle. Start drawing nice curvy trunk from the center of the eyes. It can overlap the other. I drove big flat here. A big semicircle for cheek. Ivory tusk at the bottom of the cheeks. Row the other ear. Use low opacity Eraser and draw our rough lines at pupils. And I'm Bruce and complete the head shape, but drying over the rough lines. Here are some tips to add variation to the elephant set for the elephant, draw variety of shapes and thicknesses. Like big, small, wide, narrow, straight, or curved, make different shapes for the ears to show variation. The head shape can also be exaggerated. 13. Horse: Let's start with the front view. Of course, too small circles for eyes. Following the foreshortening principle or perspective, start rectangle from here outside the nostrils will be at the corners of a rectangle. Small rectangle for lower lip, add nice curve balls, bridge lines. Then to upright leaf-like ears. Then complete the head shape by drawing around the facial features. Use low opacity Eraser and draw lines at pupils. And I rose, complete the head shape or drying over the rough lines at small, tough to feel in-between the ears on the top of it. For the profile view, only one I will be visible length and angle of nose line to the eye will determine if it is a profile view of horse. Draw rectangular the end of nose line to get a nice shape for the muscle. One more rectangle for the lower lip. One year will be smaller than the, the to add some depth. Draw a nice curvy line for gene and cheek. Use low opacity it is, and rather rough lines. At the bills and eyebrows. Add some shapes inside the ESA, nostrils. For the quarter, we'll start with the eyes. One eye will be smaller, following the foreshortening principle. Draw rectangle below and outside the nostrils and nosebleed lines. And not for a polyp. Then for lower lip, nice curvy line for gene entry, one will be smaller than the other. And here at the top of the head, in-between the ears. Use low opacity Eraser and Rover of lines. Add pupils and eyebrows. Complete the hatchery by drying over rough lines. Add some shade inside ears, nostrils. Here are some tips to add variation to the whole set. Draw a rectangular, triangular or diamond shaped at the shape of the ears can be changed, but keep it upright. The tuft of hair in-between the ears can be played with to create interesting variations. The horse has a long nose bridge. So experiment with exaggerating its length. The nose can be very big in comparison to the size of the head. Experiment with expressive or his hips. 14. Monkey: Let's start with the front view of monkey to small circles for rice. Monkey has occurred and wide muscle, right as a big triangle with round edges. Rectangle for lower lip. Two semi-circles for ears. Complete the head shape but drank over the template. Draw two big semi-circles for cheeks. Use low opacity result and draw lines at pupils and I bruise. Complete the head shape by dragging over the rough lines. Too small circles for nostrils. Too small arcs inside the ears to show overlap. Two ears. Also add some shade inside the ears. For the profile view, only one I will be visible. Drawn was named arc. Arc for a polyp N14 lower lip, big semicircle for cheeks, right above the eyes, near the center. Then complete the head shape according to the front view. Also add a small circle for nostril. Use eraser and draw over the rough lines. Pupil and iris also add some shade inside the ears. For the quarter view. One I will be smaller to show prospective. Ryan are for nose line and for muscle than one mole or poor lower lip. Big semicircle for cheeks. To small semi-circles for years, one year will be smaller to show some depth. Complete the head shape according to the front view of animal head. Use and draw with their flights. At pupils and I bruce, add some shade in selling the ears. Also add small circles for nostrils. Here are some tips on how to add variation to the monkey's head. Experiment with the monkey's head, we're trying out different shape combinations, like a rectangle and an oval, or a triangle and a penguin. The shape and placement of ice can also be played with. 15. Expressions: I will use the same template, lower the opacity of this layer, and start with a new image. Let's draw the happy expression first on cow's face. Start with the eyes. Eyes communicate thoughts, feelings, expressions better than any other part of the face. Draw them white with small pupils in the center. The eyebrows will be angled and raised. From this enter, the facial features will go to any expressions. Rectangle for the nostrils and the muzzle. Show this mile within arc around the upper lip. It will lift up the face. Then complete the face shape. According to the template. I will follow the same workflow. It is with a low opacity and draw dark and crisp lines over the rough lines. Next is the loving expression. Let's increase the intensity of happy expression to get this one. Draw the eyes closed and add small lines showing the cheeks pressing the eyes inwards. Draw a few wrinkle lines around the corners of the eyebrows will be angled and raised from the center and uneven as well. Our rectangle for the nostrils and muscle motor will be wide-open entro the upper jaws. Let's turn off the facial features are the same. Draw the ears, little raised to exaggerate the expressions. I will follow the same workflow. It is with a low opacity and draw dark and crisp lines over the rough lines. Let's draw the third expressions now. Draw half flooded eyes with downward eyebrows. Rectangle for the nostril and the muzzle. Draw the lower lip with an inverted smile. Draw small pupils touching the ellipse. Let's exaggerate this expression by drawing the ears hanging door. Then complete the head shape. Use low opacity, then drove it the dark and crisp lines over there at once. Now, let's draw the next animal looking bored. This is very similar to this and one row ha, flooded eyes with small pupils touching the eyelids. Draw uneven eyebrows raised from the center. A rectangle for the nostrils and the muscle. Differentiate the expression from this one by drawing the lower lip a little differently. Wrinkle lines under the eyes, which also makes the animal look sleepy. Exaggerate the drying more by drying the ears, hanging door and horns on the forehead, and complete the Hetchy. According to the rough line, I will follow the same workflow. It is with a low opacity and draw dark and crisp lines over the rough lines. Then comes the shop, the expression. Again, draw the eyes wide open with very small pupils in the center. Then our rectangle food nostrils and muscle, will be wide open. Then draw the eyebrows, uneven art and raised from the center. Exaggerate it a bit. Murdering ears raised high as the animal is dropped, complete the head shape according to the rough lines. Next is the scared face. Draw the eyes similar to the Sharpe expression, but this time made them overlap. Rectangle for the nostril and muscles will be opened in a weird way. And the eyebrows, I'm even draw, the E is raised high, complete the hatching. According to their flights, use low opacity result and draw over them and add a lot of sweat drops. Let's make one more scared face. Start with the eyebrows pressing into the eyes. Pupils will be at the corner of ties. Rectangle four nodes to the muscle. The teeth are biting the lower lip and wrinkles around them out. Exaggerate this by drying. Years hanging down. I will follow the same workflow. It is with a low opacity and draw dark and crisp lines over the rough lines. Next one is the worried expression. This one is very similar to the square root expression. I rose will be pressing into the eyes. Eyes will be wide open with small pupils in the center. Then rectangle four nodes and muscle. Motor will be open with wrinkle lines in the corner and the bottom. Complete the hardship according to their outlines. Exaggerate it a bit. We're drawing ears is tied at small horns. Use low opacity Eraser, and draw with dark and crisp lines over the next one is the drunken expression. This one is very similar to the happy and sleepy one. The eyebrows will be uneven. Hopefully the ice uneven as well. A rectangle for nostrils and mouth is open and roping. Draw uneven ears. To exaggerate a bit. I will follow the same workflow. It is with a low opacity result and draw dark and crisp lines over the rough lines. Then comes the angry expression. Eyebrows are angled pressing into the ice. Cheeks are also squeezing the ice. Exaggerate the expression with flared up nodes. Two big nostrils at the corner of the rectangle. Between the greeting. Little more exaggeration by drying steam, coming out of the ears. And complete the Hetchy according to the rough line. Use low opacity, raise it and draw with crisp and dark lines. Over there are flights. This is how I add the stream floats. Start with these straight lines, then draw small arcs touching each other. Complete the sheet by drawing these. Use and abuse. Few more expressions on the monkey Swiss. Find them out. Thanks. 16. Line work: Here are some inking brushes. This is SJ ink brush. It is pressure sensitive and adds a nice line weight to the right. The other SG inking brush is textured and works in the same way. There's also a modified monoline brush that create smooth lines just like a vector drawing. Here are some examples where I use these brushes. Here. I have used these brushes to make illustrations. Greeting cards, and stickers. 17. Final thoughts: Thank you so much for taking the time to learn with me in this class. I hope you have picked up some tips and techniques to develop injured animal handwriting's. I just can't wait to see your amazing creations. So don't forget to upload them in the project section below. I would be so grateful if you could leave me some feedback about what you have in this class that will help other students decide if this class is for them.
