1. Intro : Hi. My name is Sylvia. I am a biologist and freelance illustrator from Colombia. Today I want to show you too easy ways to digitize your ink illustrations. I will show you the tools I used on by the end of disk lass, you will be able to isolate your own ink illustrations for these class. We are going to need and scan it illustration and a computer with photo ship. If you don't have Photoshopped, don't worry, You can download the free trial. 2. Setting up your files: First we have to create a new fight. I'm going to make it 10 by 10 inches and at 300 dp I resolution. Working big files allows you to use them in several projects without losing the resolution of your illustrations. Because off these, it is also important to scan your illustration at at least 600 DP I Then we are going to place our scan it five. To do these, go to file place and beat it. Choose your file and it just this ice and the placement of your image with the corners and hit ender. Now go to the layer name hit right click and rice their eyes. It then go to e much at adjustments de saturate. This will take out the colors of your image, but the black lines now look the separator. In order to fix this, go to a much at judgments levels. Use the white eye dropper to make the whites brighter, then use the black one to make the line work dark. 3. Removing the background: now select the Magic One tool and make sure continuously, son, then kid, the white background. Now go to selection and invert this election. Then we're going to apply a mosque. We can see that our flower is now isolated, and if we hide the Bagram layer, we can see the chess board that show us that we have a transparent fire. Now let's make sure there is nothing left. Sometimes we can have spots or dust in a registrations To see these. Make sure that you are on the mosque part off the layer and go to effects and choose stroke . You can change its color. Just use one that really pops out and make sure that using the exterior of your illustration, then here. Okay, we can see that there are some errors and tiny spokes. We can fix this easily, using a brush and using black color. Think about it as an eraser, but we are working on the mosque. That's why instead of the razor, we use a black brush. - Now click on the eye of the effects to hide them, then create a new layer on hold in common at the same time, select the illustration layer to then merged the two layers. Now, if we had the Bagram, we have our flower digitize it and isolated. We can save our file us up being if I 4. Isolating the linework: we are going to set up our filed the same way that we did with the pressures. One. Remember to hold Chief when you drug the corners of your image. If you don't do these theme, much will be distorted Now hit crop to get rid of the areas that are outside of our our port. Now go to the layer Name hit, right click and rice theorize it. I'm going to assume it so we can see better what we are doing. We are going to set up our file the same way that we did with the president's one. Once you have finished this it up off your image, go to channels on holding common Celik RGB. This will select everything but black. Now we have to create a new layer. Select that layer in, turn off the other ones, then go to selection and invert the selection on with the bucket off pain. We are going to paint the black area off the illustration, then press common D or go to selection and hit this election. Now we have our line work isolated, but if we look at it, it looks a little bit pale. So we can go to levels again. And with the black eye dropper, he the black area off the line work and it will turn darker again. Now we can recall or the background to see if we have any white spaces left. Now we can recall her. Are illustration with different colors. If we want to do this, select the layer off the isolated line. Work. Go to effects shoes, overlay colors. I'm gonna drug these down so you can see what happens here. You can choose any color that you want to. I lived this pump purple. You can always turn off the effects off the layer, and it will show you the isolated line work. Let's come back to the white pattern. The purple pops up more to save these one. If you left, turn on the Bagram on the effects, you can save it as a J pic to save it as a transparent file, just turn off the Bagram and save it as a PNG. - Now I'm going to show you the results of the two ways of digitizing your ink illustrations Together, as you can see, when is the full flower under other one is just the lang work. You can use them separately or combined them to make matters or in several other projects 5. Final thoughts: I hope you have enjoyed this class. Remember that you can share an upload the pictures off your progress on your final work in the class project section so that the other students on myself can give you feedback by
