Hi there! My name is Rebecca, and I'm a full-time creative. I'm an artist and illustrator, art YouTuber, Etsy seller, and small business owner. Most importantly, I love teaching creative people like you!

In a past life I was a university lecturer and researcher. I loved every (stressful) minute of it, but I am so thrilled with the twists and turns that led me to my entrepreneurial life. I've been full-time self-employed and doing creative projects since 2017!

My goal is to provide practical, hands-on skills along with knowledge that can only come from experience. Everything I teach is something that I really do - usually as an income stream or as a client service. I was always told that I had a gift for explaining things clearly in a way that anyone can understand, and I h... See full profile

1. Introduction: Hi there. My name is Rebecca. I'm a graphic designer and an Etsy seller. And in this class, we are going to design a deliverable to help you deliver a Canva template to a customer. If you've designed something on Canva that you want to sell as a template, then you need to generate a template link. But once you have that link, you need to put it in something in order to give it to your customer. So we are going to be designing a PDF in Canva with a clickable link section. I'm going to go over a couple of the things that you should include in this PDF. So this class is ideal if you've already designed some products or are planning on doing that. And just want to know the specifics about the deliverable aspect. If that sounds good to you, let's hop into the lesson together. 2. Deliverable Overview: Working in Canva and I've opened up a page to be our deliverable PDF for our customers. I'm working in a 8.5 by 11 inch canvas, which is basically just the size of a sheet of paper just because I like the dimensions and the size of it. I've made a little mock up here that we're going to go through, and then we'll add in some placeholders for each section just to show you how it can look when you're done. So I'm going to zoom in a little bit here. At the top of the page, I put the logo, and this can be whatever shape you want it to be doesn't have to be a circle. Below that, I will put the name of the product, usually in bold in like a big heading font just to make sure that it's clear to the customer which product they purchase from you, but also so that if you are sorting through lots of PDFs, you can instantly tell which one this is for. Next, this box is what I use for text. I'll just put in a message to the customer. There can be instructions. The instructions will vary a lot depending on what your product is. If it requires a lot of instructions, you may want to do additional pages to this PDF with details on how to edit and use it. But generally, this is just going to have a message that's like, thank you for purchasing. You can click on the link below. You will need a free Canva account to use it, et cetera. Next, I'll have the link button for the template here, and we'll build that together so you can see how that works. But I'll put that as a big, easy to see, click on button right here. Then at the bottom of the page, I'll just put some branding information or social links, like icons for Instagram, Etsy, website, and URLs or anything else relevant that I want to direct customers to. You can also use this section if you want to do a newsletter plug. If you enjoyed this template, get a free bonus small item by joining my newsletter and click here. So you can add other offers within this deliverable as well. If you do that, you just want to double check that whatever you're offering is within ESI's guidelines, if you are selling this deliverable and this template on EtS. With that little overview, let's go through and build this out as a mock up. 3. Personalizing Your Deliverable: Depending when you're watching this, your Canva interface might look a little bit different because they are rolling out a new one later this year, but the elements should all be the same and the shortcuts should be the same. So first, we're just going to put in a placeholder logo. I'm just going to find a picture to do with that. There. I just found this MS logo in the Elements library as an example. Next, you would change the title here. Now, I would recommend that you make this all branded to your style guide for your Es store or whereever else you're selling this. So you probably already have brand fauts, colors, et cetera. Feel free to make this as designed as you like. You can do a background, you can do borders, you can do other little graphic elements. You can be very cute or very charming, or very professional, whatever your vibe is. As it is, I just like to make these headers very large and bold so that they stand out. Next, I will add in some placeholder text here, so hold on 1 second. While, I just fill this in and show you what I wrote. All right, here is the text I've written, and feel free to copy this. You can totally use this text if you want. It just says, Thank you very much for your purchase. You can find the link below. If you have any questions about it, reach out to me via Etsy, or you can change that however, you prefer for them to reach out to you, e mail or whatever. In order to access this template, you will need to have a free Canva account. Make sure you are logged in and not using a private browser if you have any issues. That is something that I've found people often get confused by if they're not familiar with Canva, they don't know they need to be logged in, and private browsers seem to mess with template additions for some reason. This link will make a copy of the template in your account. That's just to help them understand what they're getting. After you add this, we move on to our template link button. We'll do that in the next lesson. 4. Adding a Clickable Template Link: Now we're going to customize this template link button so that your customer can do the most important thing, which is access their template. If you don't have the link already for your template, you find it up through here in the share button. Now, again, sometimes Canva does move things around, but I'll show you where it is at this moment. Share, and what we're looking for is actually down in More. Sometimes it's down there, if you don't use it a ton, and we're looking for template link. If I click on this, it's going to offer to generate a link for you that anyone can use. They will have to be signed in, but we won't know who makes copies of it. We click Create template link, and there you go. Now we hit copy, and we have that on our clipboard. In order to make this into a big button, I basically make a shape that looks like this, and then I put text over it and make it a hyperlink. So that when we export as APDF, it is still clickable. In order to do that, we are going to hit R for rectangle on the keyboard as a shortcut or just find a rectangle shape. I'm going to make this roughly the size of the button that I want it to be. And position it there. I'm going to go into the border style up in the menu here and change corner rounding so that it becomes more of that pill shape that looks like a button on a web browser. You can decide how you want this to look. You can add a border or anything else. I'm just going to change the color. Actually, it's the same color as that logo, so we'll leave it as this green. Next, I'm going to add text over it, so I will hit T for text. I'm going to move this box over top, and I'm going to type in. Click here for template in Canva. Or something along those lines. You can change up the wording to suit you. Now, in order to make this a link, we'll just keep it centered there. When it's clicked, go to these three dots and go to Link. You can also use Command K if you are on a MC, and it'll open up this option. So I'm going to just paste in Command V, the link that we copied from that template link and hit De. Now that link is active and it's underlined. Again, you can style this however you like, but it is clickable once we export it as a PDF. 5. Adding Social Links and Offers: In this last section, like I said, we can use it for branding and social links. So I'm just going to clear it, and we can put a couple examples in. If you want to find logos and things for common social media platforms, Canva does have them in their library. So you can go to elements, just type in like Instagram, and it will bring up a bunch of different versions of the logo over time. Generally, I'll pick something like this, which is more like a cartoon representation of the logo, so it kind of is easier to customize to your brand colors, which you can just do like that. For these logo icons, you can do the same thing that we did up here and just turn it into a link that links directly to your social, or you could put this here and then put a textbox beside it with the handle or the URL. T up to you and your preference. You could also do both. There I've just put three together as an example, like a Facebook, Instagram, and e mail. But you can make these whatever icons you want. You can also add in some texts below. Here's just some texts that I put together. I've put the URL for the Es shop and an e mail you can be reached at. I do like to type out the e mail rather than just put everything in a hyperlink because sometimes people just prefer it more visual so they can type it in. And then, like I mentioned, I've put a little offer here, and this could be a hyperlink link to your sign up page where they can get an offer or a template or something like that. So altogether, this is what our deliverable looks like. As you can see, it is pretty straightforward, but it's still very informative everything on this page is serving a purpose. And you can add additional pages to this PDF, however many you like with whatever instructions are relevant to your product. You would then export this as a PDF from Canva, making sure not to use the flattened feature. I just pull it up here. PDF standard is what I usually pick. Don't pick flatten because this will disable your links, so that's the only tip to mind there. Then the PDF is what you can upload to your EC listings as the item that gets delivered when they make a purchase. I would title it something like template access information, just to make it clear what it is, and this is how your customer gets their template. I hope you found this mini course helpful and that you're now able to create a very cute deliverable for your products. If you want to learn anything else about digital products or running a digital product store from me, I do have other classes on this subject, including a course all about running a successful digital product store with this kind of information, but also a lot more. As a little project for this class, I would just love to see the kind of deliverable that you come up with. So please feel free to upload this as a PNG, even if it just has play solder information because it won't be clickable when you upload it. Don't worry. Upload that to the class so that I can take a look, and other classmates can be inspired by your work. And if you have any questions or comments, please feel free to use the discussion section, where I would be happy to chat with you. Good luck with your template business, and I'll see you later. Bye.
