Was du lernen wirst:

  1. Einführung in Power BI-Trichterdiagramme:

1. Introduction: Funnels are considered to be one of the most important visuals within Power BI. As an engineer, entrepreneur, as a CEO, decision making is driven by the analytics, where we take a look at raw data and we try to make sense of it. And one of the best ways to do so is through the use of funnels in which we try to layer data and try to narrow things down in order to pinpoint key insights and relationships. In this current class, I'll be sharing with you how to create funnels using Power BI to help you visualize and draw some insights from your raw data. 2. Your Project: Your project for the class revolves around utilizing Power BI to create funnels and which I'm going to be sharing with you some raw data that you're going to be downloading it and uploading it to Power BI to help you create and visualize your own funnels. After which you'll be sharing your results with the rest of the community for feedback. 3. Funnels For Marketing, Branding, Business, Project and Time Management: Now we're going to take a look at one of my favorite visuals, which is the funnel. It helps us investigate a certain category by taking a look at the segments within the category. Once you click on the funnel over here, you're able to have the following display category, and the values. For the category, think about it, which parts of your funnel that you're going to be investigating by relating it to a certain parameter. What does that mean? Let's say I'm investigating the developers, and what are the critique scores obtained by the developers, based on the critique score. Here we go. These are the values. Take a look at this, for example. So we have the various developers on the left hand side, and as you can see, I'm having the critique score displayed over here where you are able to allocate that, for example, if I hover over here, that the following developer has a critique score of 77.9, which is, let's say, out of 100%, which has the highest critique scores compared to other developers. And if you go over here, it has the lowest critique score compared to other developers. So what I'm doing is I'm taking a look at the developer, which is represented on the side over here, and what are the scores obtained to be represented in the funnel. Let's use a different case. Instead of the developer and the critique score, how about the developer and the sales? Here we go. So here got the sum of the total sales, how many sales took place. I can see the developers and the number of sales you could hover over here and you can see how many sales took place, giving you the top of the funnel all the way to the bottom. That way, you're able to see the maximum and the minimum, which is very powerful to help you make sense of the data that you have based on a certain category. Let's change the category from the developer, how about we add the game title? So I have the ability now to add the game title and then compare it to the sum of the sales. But if you notice the game title was not represented over here, let's go for a different element. How about the console? Here we go. So we got the PS three, X 360 PS four, PS two, and you have the ability to take a look at the total sales. Based on every single one of them, you could click on this. And by the way, once we have placed the game title, we weren't able to see because we didn't zoom in into the data because we have a lot of data because once we zoom in, we could enable the Zoom in toggle, or you could click over here and you have the ability to explore this data as a preview or you go for Spotlight mode. For Spotlight mode, you're able to focus on the data, focus mode as well. You're able to see the data, and you're able to zoom into the data. You got the sum of the total sales per console, and then you go back to the report. In case when you are tinkering with this, you're not able to see the labels over here. This is some sort of a bypass option that you could use. Instead of the console, how about we go for something else? Let's go for the publisher. Here we go. So we got the publisher, and then we got the number of sales for every single publisher. How about the critique score? The publishers. What are the critique scores gotten by these publishers? Here we go. Notice what we have over here. So we're comparing the critique scores. This is a sum of the critique scores, all of them compiled. Now, the value might not make perfect sense to you because when you have a critique score, I don't want to have the sum, right? I would like to have the actual value or the count how many times or the average will look great, or the maximum, Le's take a look at the maximum. Here we go. You're able to rank based on the maximum critique score that they have gotten. You're able to go for the distinct count how many critique scores like ones they have taken, for example, or you have the ability to go for the median, which is let's say the middle value, or you can go for the average, which works perfectly fine in this current case because once you have a lot of critique scores, you take the average, you're able to get the average value, which is a good representation. And by the way, once you are selecting the values, instead of sticking to a certain value, you have the ability to sum minimum, maximum count, standard deviation variance, median, all of these for the advanced users, they could be incorporated as part of Dax operations where you use formulas such as Exl in order to do these things. So instead of learning about how to come up with these functions and formulas, especially if you are using the desktop option for the Power BI, you have the option over here. You can just simply go to the values and you click on the drop down menu, and you can just simply change what would you like to do for the column that you're using for critique score? I don't want to use the average. I want to use the maximum or the minimum. So you have the ability to just simply with a click, modify this instead of going to Dax and coming up with a function to add it to your column to do this. That being said, this is another important visual that you could add to your tools box, which is the funnel. 4. Wrapping Up: So what do you think? I truly hope that you found the class helpful. If it helped you level up your knowledge in terms of how to use Power BI to drive key, powerful visuals, then it's a job well done. I look forward to receiving your feedback on the current class and make sure to follow my profile for the latest releases and updates, and I'll see you in the next class.
