1. Introduction: Hello, and welcome to my class. This class will focus on creative writing. The main topic of this class we'll be learning how to create a CV that is so impressive that no one will ever refuse to read it. Many people spend many days and many hours writing a CV, but have no idea what to include in it or what right in it. Let's imagine you've discovered the ideal job for yourself. Additionally, you've sent your CV to the employer and now you are anxiously awaiting a callback from them. But nobody really contexts you. This becomes so depressing. And it happens with the majority of us were curious how that's feasible. This is due to the fact that your CV was never ever reviewed and evaluated. It was deemed unworthy, which is why no one ever examined it. However, you may rest assured that this type of bad experience one ever occur again. Because in this class you will master how to write a CV, which will be so good that nobody will be able to avoid reading and reviewing it. In this class, I discuss topics such as what is CV writing? First step of writing CV, remembering your abilities, understanding the target audience, do not underestimate your skills. Things to keep in mind while writing a CV, do's and don'ts of writing a CV. Chronological format, functional format, combinational format, info graphics format, putting things together in a CV. 2. What is CV Writing: Cv writing is a critical component of the business writing field. In this sort of writing, you support yourself and promote yourself. Via writing. You pick and choose the greatest talent and the best skills you possess in order to demonstrate to the company to which you wish to apply. Choosing and picking your best skills and abilities to present in front of your employer and a written manner is referred to as CV writing or resume writing. If you want to send your CV to your employer, you must select the finest skills and the best stabilities you have. Makes sure the skills and talents you choose are relevant to your line of work. You must keep in mind that the person to whom you are submitting your resume is your employer. Meaning that he will also get the resumes of many other applicants who are also interested in working for their company. So makes sure you've prepared a good and innovative, creative CV that will set you apart from the rest of the crowd. You must also ensure that your CV is taken seriously. Therefore, in order to boost your chances of being taken seriously, you must include the talents and the skills that are suited for your job. 3. First Step of Writing CV: So the first step is to design and to plan your CV. Please keep in mind that every time you want to write something, you must plan it beforehand. Similarly, while writing a CV, you must first plan your CV. The second thing is that you are not required to list only the abilities and talents you've picked up lately or within the previous few years. Rather, you are free to list the skills you learned when you were very young, like when you were a child on your CV, you should be aware of your skill set. Identify which abilities are relevant to your occupation and include them on your CV. Don't include any talents and abilities that are relevant to your job. Doing so will significantly reduce your chances of getting hired. Also, you can send your new company the same CV that you created for your prior jobs. This is due to the fact that they are different people and different companies with different and distinct business approaches and dividend plans. Their business objectives and their business methods are also very different and diverse. In order to write a CV that will help you land a job at a certain company, you must first do some research on that company to learn what kind of candidates they are looking for and what skills and attributes they value in candidates. As a result, be sure to thoroughly researched the company you wish to apply to, make the necessary modifications to your CV and adapt it in accordance with the criteria of your employer. If you notice any differences in their temperament, their style of doing things, their surroundings, were, their vision. 4. Remembering Your Abilities: The next step before writing a CV is to jog your memory and to determine what abilities you possess. Try to recall the times and the places when you have developed talents or made significant life accomplishments that will help you land a job. This is a pre-writing stage. So write a list of all the skills you have and list all of the abilities you have learned over the years. Also include unique talents you possess and achievements you have accomplished. Your accomplishments may not just be in the professional field. They may also be personal one, though all the way back to your school life and your university life and add the achievements you have gotten those years. It might be your academic accomplishments, athletic achievements, or anything else such as a training session you have attended. Or it might even be a seminar that you attended, or it might even be a conference that you have successfully delivered. Or you can even add something like your talent for tutoring other students, et cetera. You can even include the good deed you performed as a community service. Even your group management skills can be included. You can even demonstrate some examples of your group management skills. Adding instances of how you lead a sports team as a team captain or serving as the class representative, or your experience as a school president is also acceptable. You must provide these examples to demonstrate your expertise and your aptitude as a team leader. Because many companies are eager to recruit someone who is skilled at team management. Alternately, you might state on your CV that although you never held the position of team leader, you always demonstrated a strong commitment to teamwork and team management qualities. You might even claim that you are the reason your team received such positive result because you've boosted their morale when they were down. Also, you can mention that you gave the team members some fantastic pep talks or made them feel at ease by providing them some space and some time for themselves. This will demonstrate that you kept your team together and kept it from dissolving. If you have strong academic credentials individually, but you are not a team player or able to perform well in a group setting, you will have difficulty landing a job, and you will have a better chance of landing the job. If you include attributes like being a helpful person, being highly cooperative with others, being very adaptable to different people in different environments and wanting to make a difference. Numerous companies respect and value these personality traits and they are on the lookout. For the candidates who possess the above mentioned qualities. You must come up with a list of your abilities and your accomplishments. Then write it down on a paper including the traits that I've just said. Not every one of the abilities, skills, and accomplishments listed above needs to be on your CV. But this is only the beginning. This is how you want to go. Now that you've made a list of everything you've done up to this point, it is now your responsibility to thoroughly review the list and try to select the skills and the abilities that will enable you to land that job quickly and easily. Then outline the CV to determine which abilities and which qualities will best deserve your CV best. Then one-by-one at each item to your CV based on its relevance to the job. 5. Understanding the Target Audience: While adding qualities and abilities to your CV, you must first understand your target audience. If you are applying to a private company, figure out what they want and the add skills and the talents accordingly. If you are seeking for a government job, you must include the qualities that they seek in their employees. You may learn about their requirements and their objectives by visiting their website. And you can also learn the traits and the characteristics of their office staff from an employee who works there. In order to learn about the needs of the company, you may also speak to their current staff. As a result, you must know your audience extremely well. And in this case, no, your company very well and know what they actually want. Knowing your company thoroughly will enable you to narrow down the abilities and the talents that you need to enter in your CV and create a stellar CV in accordance with it. 6. Do Not Underestimate Your Skills: Finally, while you're trying to construct a list of skills and abilities that you've acquired in your life, makes sure that you haven't left anything off. This is because when we try to build a list, we tend to underestimate and overlook our own abilities, accomplishments, and capabilities. Many of the things you accomplish in your everyday life may appear unimportant to you, but they may represent a talent or showcase and ability that a company is looking for. For example, if you keep a diary every day, it indicates that you have a writing habit. For you. It may seem like something you do every day. But for certain businesses, it may be the expertise they are looking for in their employees. For example, if you have a large number of people in your house and you manage them easily and effectively. It may appear to you to be an everyday thing, but to accompany it is a really excellent people management skill and capability that they are searching for. So compile a list of all the abilities, talents, and accomplishments you've obtained throughout your life. So you don't forget to add them in your CV. You must also bear in mind that not everything on your list should be included in your CV because it must be applicable to the company you are applying for. For example, if you're looking for a job in technology field, don't include your ability and talent for cooking. It means that just because you possess excellent cooking talents, you should not mention them in a CV that is related to a scientific and technological job because it is a completely different skill set that is not required for a job in technology and science. However, if you are seeking for a job at a restaurant, your outstanding culinary talents may help you acquire the job. 7. Things to Keep in Mind While Writng a CV: While writing a CV, whether we are planning it or creating its format or writing details, we must keep two things in mind. The first thing is that whatever we are writing, we must write it honestly and mentioned only what is true. You must not dishonestly write anything which you have not achieved. And the second thing is that if you write anything that you have not achieved or anything that you have not accomplished, then at any point you may be caught, which may ruin things for you. And the third thing is that, like I mentioned before, I would like to remind you that any good thing in your life or any achievements that you have achieved must not be overlooked. The next thing is that we should choose a format that helps us present ourselves in the best possible light. It is important to emphasize our strengths rather than our flaws. So we should choose the format and best appropriate manner. 8. Dos and Don'ts of Writing a CV: Now, let's look at some do's and don'ts when it comes to drafting the CV or formatting a resume. First and foremost, it should be straightforward. You should describe your achievements, but just the important ones. If all of your achievements are relevant, find a method to summarize them. For example, if you have attended so many trainings, there is no need to mention each and every one. Instead. Try to sum up in one statement that I have taken this many training courses in this fields. Or I have taken this many trainings related to this topic because it is a summary and an overview of your ability. It should be nicely organized. It should not be too long. The second is that the usage of headings and subheadings should be done in a way that makes it easy for the reader to read it so that the eye is drawn down quickly and there is no confusion between the headings. Headings and subheadings should be large and readable. In addition, the font size for all the headers should be the same and should remain consistent. Subheading font sizes should be consistent as well. Aside from that, line spacing should not be squeezed and compressed because it makes reading harder for the reader. It should be appealing to the eye. We should keep in mind that our CV is more accessible and easier for the reader to read. Furthermore, distinct components of a CV, such as headers and subheadings, should be clearly separated. Aside from that, if you have a complex writing mind or preferred to write in different fonts, do not do it on your CV. Use simple and basic fonts, such as Times, New Roman, Arial, or Calibri, which are widely available on everyone's system. Additionally, which are compatible with systems and easy to understand, use basic, straightforward, and readable fonts. As a result, very long sentences, we're very long paragraphs do not belong in a CV. Aside from that, we should aim to use bullet points to highlight our strengths and our capabilities. Margins should not be too thin since it creates an unappealing appearance. As a result, the layout should be both professional and looking and appealing in appearance. It should not appear like you're experimenting with it, and it should not look like you are unsure about it. And it should not look like you're trying. And testing different types and formats. 9. Chronological Format: The flow of a CV format is divided into two or three forms. The first of which is chronological format. You must include dates and chronological form, both individually and in sequence. People who have not changed employment frequently or who have worked constantly with no pauses, can use these formats. And while adopting the chronological approach, we start with the most recent educational qualification and work our way backwards to peak the reader's interest. This is how the chronological structure works and this type of format is appropriate for vertical career advancement. For example, if you did not work from 2014 to 2016, using chronological style will make it clear to the reader that you did not do anything during those two years. It will be a bad idea to use the coral logical style because it will raise some questions about your career and it will throw you off guard. And we'll tell the readers that you are out of the market for two years. They will question, what did you do during those times? Like I have said above, use this type of format if you have worked constantly with no pauses. But if have not worked constantly, and if you adopt this format, the gap will be highlighted for the readers. If you have no gaps in your career, you can utilize this format. Aside from that, if you have changed employment frequently, this will be cause for concern. Nowadays, it is believed by some people that staying in the same company for an extended length of time is unsuitable. However, it should be not too short, such as transferring jobs in a short amount of time, such as six months, a year or 1.5 years, because it gives the impression that you don't survive and accompany or that you aren't capable of making an employer happy, or you're unable in creating your own place at work. So if that's the case, don't utilize this format because the purpose of this chronological style is that it mentioned state wise that you worked for a specific period with a particular company. 10. Functional Format: The second format is functional format, which mainly focuses on skills and abilities. The emphasis is on talents. So let's have a look at what we have here. It is none other than displaying the skills, talents, and accomplishments in a categorical manner. For example, project making, presentations skills and writing abilities will be written under a separate talent and ability called as project management. You can write it like this. I have completed the three tasks listed below, plus additional activities like team-building exercises and so on. It will not indicate that I worked here from this date to this date. Things become placed here under skill categories and not according dates sequence. In this way, if you have not worked for some time in your life, then the gap is filled up here because approach is appropriate. If the job history contains gaps. If you wish to work in a different field, you should identify a specific talent. Because headings are created here based on skills rather than dates. This type of format is also not appropriate for a student or an entry-level applicants with little or no experience, because it will be difficult for him to state skills and talents under each and every category. It may be an effective for empty use this type of format. And this type of format is also not for someone lacks important abilities that cannot be highlighted. Any person, whether a student or an experienced individual, who lacks the ability to individually highlight each of the three to four skills, cannot use this format to their own advantage. As a result, this type of format is only for the people who have many good skills and talents and it creates an excellent CV for them. And if we don't have many goods skills and talents than we won't make them up, instead will display them in new ways. So try not to write incorrect information about your talents. There have been several instances where people have purposefully or mistakenly provided inaccurate information regarding their abilities. Some people, for example, have achieved some things while working in a team. Even if they were only a little part of the team, they strive to take credit for the success of the team. Rather than saying that it was team's hard work, they present the team's accomplishments as their own. However, persons who lie on their CV are easily identified. They are quickly eliminated from the applicant pool. Many companies can spot these lies simply by glancing at their accomplishments. Because the employer will understand that this accomplishment can only be achieved by a collaborative effort rather than an individual effort. The lies can also be uncovered simply by understanding that the task is done by a professional and the applicant does not at that stage of his career, and he likes the professional standing to accomplish that item. As a result, the CV will not be regarded worthy of reading. In order to make your CV looked better, please refrain from using inaccurate and misleading information. 11. Combinational Format: Then there is the combinational format for drafting a CV. This format has two components. The first is to begin your CV with your professional accomplishments and profile. Then add your overview of talents and accomplishments to it. The next step is to include chronological job experience and education in your CV. However, this is not the same as chronological format because in this format, while writing your chronological work history, you do not go into detail about each position you have held. Simply list the work you've done in recent years in chronological order and leave it at that. Again, let me remind that avoid going into depth when writing about your schooling and previous jobs. For example, if you have two master's degrees, include the one that is relevant to the position you're looking for. Do not add all of the educational certificates and all the diplomas you've received during your life. There are three good reasons for using this format type. The first is that you may use this form of CV to display your relevant skill set to your employer. The second reason is that you may utilize this format if you wish to shift to a different industry, different field, or different company. The third is that when you are an expert in a particular ability that you have included on your resume, you may utilize this sort of format to emphasize on it. 12. Infographics Format: Infographics or another format that would be extremely beneficial in acquiring the job. This is a unique method of applying for jobs. You may describe it as a non traditional strategy for achieving your objectives. Many people from diverse areas have offered very positive feedback about using infographics. As a result, infographics may be employed in the creation of CV. However, you need to be aware of whether the employer accepts CV and infographic style or not. If you are unsure whether the company will accept it or not, then don't take any chances and risks. If you are unsure, then write it in a traditional manner. Infographic style of CV writing may be effective in industries such as design industry or the arts field. This kind of CV will be remarkable and we'll stick out in these sorts of sectors because design-related disciplines necessitate this sort of work. As a result, it will be more beneficial to you and obtaining your job. However, there are three things you should bear in mind while creating an infographic CV. The first is that you don't need to include too much photos and too much text in it. Maintain simplicity. Second, don't use excessively dark colors in it. Instead, employ a blend of niacin I pleasing colors. Third, it should be well organized. You should avoid entering too much information in one place. It should be readable, visually appealing, and concisely written in an organized manner. 13. Putting Things Together in a CV: A CV is an essential component of our professional careers. We frequently see people who have graduated from prestigious universities and still struggled to showcase themselves and their CV, which is why it is critical to understand how to write a good CV. Now that when you've settled on a format and determine what should be stated or referenced in the CV. Now we will look at how to put things together in a CV. Firstly, we must keep to the truth and avoid being deceptive or trying to convey or makeup point in an improper manner. Despite the fact that we have a lot of skills and a lot of accomplishments, we shouldn't make things up. Also, some people provide needless personal information in their CV, such as their parents names, and their everyday hobbies. Please refrain from adding needless information in your CV. Mentioned hobbies only if they are pertinent and if they help with the job. Alternatively, if your hobbies demonstrate talents that are useful in your work, please mention it definitely. Nothing should be random because you see v should be brief and concise. You should not waste crucial space by discussing random stuff about yourself. Because of this exercise, caution. While describing your hobbies. Do it with awareness, thinking, and intention. When discussing our careers, we should focus on our accomplishments rather than our responsibilities. When discussing our academic careers. We should also include our accomplishments. Instead of stating I have done MA or I have taken any rank or I have topped any paper. Or as a student, you have been a teaching assistant. Express yourself in a way that distinguishes you from the other applicants. Obviously, accomplishments and positions will be mentioned, but in a creative way, apart from these two, we must highlight our unique talents that set us apart from the competition. Since this is what the employer is looking for, look for relevant experience. For example, if you want an art competition in high-school, be sure to include it for any design-related job. Don't mention it if it's not connected and directly relevant to the job. If it is relevant, it should be highlighted and taken into account. Keep your Facebook professional. Since employers monitor their employees Facebook sites to learn about their interests and learn about some other information about their employees. Whether they ought to do it or not is irrelevant. They nevertheless do it. It also has an influence if you have used anonymous names like QT, prince, princess, and so on in your id. So don't use such names and be cautious with your social media as this can affect your job prospects. Also, maintain your e-mail account professionally and use your actual name and make sure that it is not so funny or ridiculous that it creates a non-serious image of you, especially if you are including it on your CV. However, you can have a separate personal ID, which can be kept separate form your professional ID. Don't do anything that would give the employer any cause for concern as they are unaware of the employee's condition. So it's preferable to keep your imagination and check and simply follow the set of patterns while write your CV. Typically, the CV format is expected to be one page in order to make it easy for the reader to read it. It doesn't have to be over complicated. If you are in the early stages of your career, it is acceptable to finish your CV in one page. However, if your CV as long and you have many talents to mention, write it in two pages. Do not try to reduce the font size and line spacing. Shrink the margins and completed on one page and a highly constrained manner. However, make certain that the most important information is included on the first page so that it is not overlooked by the reader. After reading the first page, the reader should not be thinking about what to read on the second page. It is acceptable to go up to two pages. Cv should be double-checked for spelling and grammar mistakes because it will be seen by the employer and your job depends on it. Make sure it's as great as it can be. If you can't make it a good one, then see getting help from someone. When drafting a CV. Keep the grammar tenses in mind. Also. Abbreviations are not always understood by everyone. So be sure you clarify them so that the reader understands it. When writing a resume, bear in mind that it should be as simple as possible for the reader. If possible. Summarize your profile and two lines. If you are utilizing the skills format, provide your talents and your job experience with a reference to your skills. Then discuss the skills and then your accomplishments of yours. Lastly, be sure to highlight any volunteer or community service work you have done. Because in today's society, it is important to note that a person possesses a certain trait.
