Creative watercolors: how to paint vibrant flowers

1. Presentation: Hello. My name is something. I'm an artist and this is my fourth skill shop class. If you feel a bit, never when it comes to painting watercolor floors or if they generally don't appeal to you that merch because flowers seems life lesson paper, then this glasses for you. We will go through all the steps of the process together with techniques and teeth that you can quickly master to achieve great results for this class. I have chosen to paint fancies, but you could use this my third for any type of flours. So do not wait and let's start now. 2. Sketching: Hello and thank you for joining me. A very important step in this painting process is to understand and master the shape off the flower in this case, a ponsi which bettors are in front and which are behind in the values shapes that compose are subject for thes. If you find photos are difficult to sketch, always try to find a realistic drawing or painting off your subject and work on that. It's easier because the artist has already defined the main lines. We are only going to draw very simple shapes, like an upside down heart for the bottom better to slightly wavy site by tears and some vague shapes for the two top ones. Remember that the water colors will give the Petters the texture, so we are keeping things very, very simple and basic. Keep sketching again and again until you can draw five or six pounces without a racing. 3. Background fun: so, as you can see, I am using a large brush to apply quite a lot of water onto my paper. However, I am careful to leave some patches dry so that no paint will flow in these places and I keep some white in my background. Now let's apply some colors. I pick some pains randomly from the palate that we have selected before off course, you can use different colors. Just be consistent with your palate. You're so need to make sure that your colors are not too watery because there is already a lot of water on the paper and you do one bright tones. You can already see how nicely the colors are flowing into each other. If you have watched my other classes, you already know that this is one of my favorite stages off watercolors painting, tilting the paper and directing the colors to flow and blend beautifully. Just look at where they are going and direct them as you wish by tilting your paper in virus directions. This is a nice background, but some places are two defined, and we are looking for a smoother look. So I spray a little bit more water what's needed, and I tilt again until I get a more blurry effect. 4. Finding petals: Once our background is completely dry, we can start finding our fantasies. What I mean is, let's find the most beautiful color combinations and draw flowers accordingly. I will, for sure use any white spots as part of the Petters. Like here, I have to white sports close to each other, which is perfect for the site betters, because by now we are familiar with the shape of fancies. It's very easy to draw as many as we want again. I will use this white spots for side and top betters. Here I have a gorgeous purple and yellow mix. Your flowers will surely look different from mine, depending on your background. But this is once again a fun part off the painting Off course, you're so need to pay some attention to your composition, which means that some off your pants SES should touch and partly hide each other. Lower petals: My first trip to paint the lower betters is to choose a color from your pilot that is close to the one you already have in your background, so as not to get things muddy like here have mixed some purple and come in red to get a dark pink that will become lighter as I add water. So we will first loosely outline the Petters. And as you can see, I do not fully control all of them for the bottom. Petr, I simply pull the paint that is already there with my wet brush. This creates a lovely natural look. We then, at some clean water inside the patters to let the color flowing. Finally, I had a few drops off a different color at the top off each better and let it spread into the purple. You can watch me paint all the flowers in the same way, and I will give you some tips as we progress here. For example, I have two different Carlos, one for the outline and one for the insight. But the yellow is very watery, and we'll pull the orange in what's to create a nice Grady int. I use a small field but fresh that is clean and dry, and I pushed the paint outwards. Some are food is absorbed by the brush, so I clean it, wipe it on a close and repeat the process for each better. Another tip that works well with florals but also with any kind of what a colors painting really is to vary your type of lines. What I mean by this is that it's more beautiful. Toe have both hard and soft veggies in a single subject. You can see here, for example, that the top off the Petters is defined by neat lines. Where's the bottom? One is more water and soft. It is this contrast that will make your art more interesting. For example, if you're painting is all lose, it might be a big Boeing without any point where the I can focus. On the other hand, if all edges are perfectly clean and defined, I feel that we lose some of the most interesting properties off watercolors like, for example, the soft and dreamy effect that is unique to this medium. You can always still your paper toe help the color spread, but keep a night to see where the paint is going and there. So be careful of the other flowers that might not be dry yet and that you want to keep as they are now. You can see another example off hard and soft veggies. See how you can drop a touch off color in the water and then absorb it with a clean brush to create a realistic petal texture. In fact, not only is it easy, but it's also very nice to play with colors and water, very relaxing. Keep in mind that you cannot go wrong. If you let the colors blend by themselves on the paper, it will always look nice. Always enjoy the act of painting, and I repeat these again and again in each of my class ease. There are no mistakes, and if in the end your creation looks different from what you expected, it does not matter. It is a bit off you on that paper and therefore it is beautiful 6. Upper petals: So this is our painting so far, and we are not going to paint the top betters off our flowers. For this one, I will use a darker shade off the color off the lower petters, which are pink. So I pick up a dark common rate and I add an even darker color at the bottom. Off the bettors again. Just let the water colors run into each other for this yellow flower. I am choosing a light and dark purple combination which can be found in passes, and for this one, another option, right Gradient done with my king brush, you can take the top betters off your flowers in the same manners, or you can find your own color combinations and methods. Please note that I keep some edges shop and some more lose. - So if you're not happy with some of your petters, you can add another layer off color. Make sure to blend it nicely with water. And Leslie I had two or three purple dots in the center of the pensees to mark the heart, which we will define more in the next lesson. 7. Details: for the final details of this painting, we will first use color pincers. We pick a selection off pencil colors that much those off your flowers and start by drawing two lines to define the lower petters. Then you can add some light strokes at the top and bottom off the petters to mark the veins of the flower. - Always speaker color that is already in the Petters for natural look and keep the strokes light and lose. - See how the small details really complete the fancies and make them come to life as further heart. I first tried to market with white gel pen, but the ink was not a back enough, so I used acrylics instead. If you have a white ink or gel pen that is better than mine, you can also use it. All we need to do is spent these two tiny lines on each side of the heart and a dot in the middle that we will paint in light yellow. - And this is all our fancies look amazing and would make a fantastic greeting cut, don't you think?
