1. Intro: In this course, I'll be
teaching you how to create an epic and simple product
commercial using Canva. Most people think they have
to use expensive gear and software to create a
product commercial, which isn't true. I will show you how to create
a beverage commercial and Canada using animated
text and graphics. Best of all, Canvas free to use. Let's get started.
2. Adding Your Product To Canva: First of all, I'm going to
look through Google and find a product I can
use as an example. For this course, I'm gonna
look for an energy drink. The product I'm going to use for this commercial is
called sway energy. And if you go to the
products website, you can usually download high-quality image
of each products. And for this example, I'm going to use watermelon, and I'm just going to
pretend that this is a brand new flavor
for SU-8 energy. So I'm going to go ahead and
go to their product page. I'm gonna go ahead and
click on this photo and click left or left-click
and then hit Save Image As. And then I'm just going to
download it to my desktop. Next up we're going
to go to canva.com. And if you don't
have an account, you can go ahead and
sign up with one with your email and
it's free to use Canva. And we're gonna go ahead and
click on the video template. On the left-hand side
of this blank video, we have the template section. You can choose from hundreds
of different templates. I'm gonna start from
scratch and start with a solid background color. I was going to use
this template, but I'm gonna go
ahead and delete all the graphics and
photos off this and just use the background
color and then I'll probably end up changing
the background color. But anyways, I'm gonna
go ahead and upload that sway energy can just go to the left-hand side
and click Upload. And then you can go
ahead and upload media and find your photo on your desktop or
wherever you saved it. Now if you go back
to your uploads, the photo should be in
there and your images. So all you got to do is click on that drink or whatever
product you have. Now I'm going to click on
this pink box right here, which is the background color. And here you can
change your colors. And if you look over here, it says photo colors. And I'm going to choose
the background color to match one of the
colors on the drink. So it kinda just mashes the whole theme in
the company's colors. So I might go with one
of these pink colors. Now I want to add
some graphics or elements to this video. To do that, all you got to
do is click on elements on the left-hand side in their
thousands of graphics. And like animated
stickers to choose from. What I'm gonna do is use the
search bar and search in lightning bolt or
lightning bolt sticker or something like that. Because I wanted some
match the energy drink. And actually in the
y and the word sway, it has a nice
lightning bolt to it. So I thought it would
be pretty cool to add that to the video. I kind of liked this white lightning bolt
sticker right here. So let me go ahead
and click on it. And you can use the corners of the box to scale up
or down the graphic. And then I'm gonna go ahead
and rotate it a little bit. And then I'm going to place it on top of the Sway energy drink. Now I'm gonna hold
down option and drag out another lightning
bolt and place it on the top right corner
of this way energy drink. I'm also going to rotate it a little bit and scale it down. I think that looks
pretty cool so far. We've got the lightning
bolt stickers and the background color. But if you hit play on the
player head down below, it doesn't really do anything. The only thing that's moving is the stickers because
they're animated. But we're gonna change that by going to the animated part, which all you have
to do is click on the photo and you can
go to photo animations. There's just a whole bunch of different animations you can do. You can click on the
pop rise, Zoom, tumble. But if you see
those little crowns and the right-hand
corner of some of these, that means there for
premium members only. And if you want to upgrade
on Canva, you can do that. But anyways, I'm gonna go with the free ones and I
might try tumble. If I click Play, it'll just
show what's going on so far. Anyways, let's get on
to the next lesson where we add text to this video.
3. Adding Text: In this lesson,
we're going to add some text to our video. I want to add some
adjectives that describe this delicious watermelon
and energy drink. And if you look at
the description of this product on the website, it says it's crisp. It also says it's sweet. So I might add
those to the video. Back over in Canva. I'm gonna
go ahead and choose a font. Canada has thousands of
different fonts to choose from. If you hit the text box
on the left-hand side, it'll show you all these fonts. I'm gonna go ahead and go with this one and delete those words. And then I'm going to type
out the word sweet and hit Enter and repeat
that word a few times. Now I think the words are looked too close together and
squished together. So I'm gonna go ahead and
click on this right here. And then if you click
on that, you can adjust the letter spacing
and the line spacing. I just want to space them
out a little bit more. So I'm gonna click on effects
right here and you can change the font style
to neon glitch outline. There's a whole bunch of
different free effects you can add to it. Let me go ahead and
click on this one. And once you click on it, you can change the offset and the direction
and also the blur, which is really cool. You can adjust it
to your liking. So obviously you can't
see the candidate also, I have to place this
text in the back. So if you click these dots
right here and click position, you can go ahead and
click backward until the words are right directly
in the back behind the can. I'm also going to
select the canon, scale it down a bit so we
can see the font a little bit more and make sure
it's placed in the center. Doing that, I'll
probably have to adjust the lightning bolts a little bit so there are
placed back over the can. If we go ahead and
play this over, we can see what this
shot looks like. We have the canned
coming in also, the lightning bolts in the text. I'm going to select the
text box and click Animate. And over here you can do page animations or
text animations. Feel free to play
around with those and find the best one that
looks good with your product. So I'm gonna go
ahead and hit play again and see how this animates. And also you can always remove any animations that
you don't want. But I'm gonna go ahead and trim this shot
down a little bit. So if I grab that selection right there and drag
it with my cursor, I can make it shorter or longer. I'm gonna click left on the shot and click Duplicate page. And it will make the exact
same page as this one. But I'm going to
switch up the text and change the text
from sweet to crisp. Once again, I'm just deleting the word sweet and then
changing that over a crisp. If I go ahead and
click Play again, it's just going to
show what I just made. So we have those two shots
with the sweetened, the crisp, but I'm obviously going to
have to make some adjustments. I think we're missing
a little something. And what I'm gonna
do with this shot, I'm gonna delete the text in. I'm going to add an element
such as a watermelon. If I go to the elements
and type in watermelon, they have a whole bunch
of different watermelon, watermelon graphics
to choose from. Now I could choose
the first couple of graphics if I wanted to, but there's just so
many to choose from. So I want to find the best
one for this commercial. I'm just going to
keep looking at scrolling until I
find one I like. So I really liked this one. It looks like someone
took a bite out of it. So I'm gonna go
ahead and select it. And then I'm gonna go ahead
and scale it down and rotate it to make it look like it's
right on top of the canned, kind of like a garnish. Not the end of this video. I
want to give out a call to action such as
pre-order now purchase. Now by now, what I'm going to do is go to the elements section and I'm gonna go
ahead and type in pre-order or Buy
Now or Shop Now. And I'm gonna find a
graphic or a sticker to put on the right
side of the shot. I like this one, but I'm going to scale
it down a bit and put on the right-hand side
and see if I like it. Preview this in full screen. I'm going to go ahead
and click right here, and it should play for
you in full screen. Another thing I wanted to
do is make it look like this CAN is levitating
or has a shadow. So if you select the image
and click Edit image, you can adjust the shadows by scrolling down and
selecting shadows. You can select different type
of shadows such as angle, backdrop, drop, and I might go with the
top one, but we'll see. This looks pretty cool
so far I like how it's turning out for canva video. But anyways, I'm
gonna show you in the next lesson how to
create transitions.
4. Adding Transitions: So now when it's high, all the shots together
with a transition, if you click the plus
sign right here, you can add a transition. In Canada, you can
play around with the different transitions
such as dissolved slot, swipe, circle, wipe and wipe. But you're just play
around with them and see which ones
you like best. You can also click on them
and change how long you want the transition to last and also change the direction
of the transition.
5. Adding Music And Project: So now I'm going to add
some background music to my product commercial. You can go to free stock
music.com or their other paid websites such as art grid dot IO in other websites as well. But for this, you
can filter by mood. For this product commercial, since it's an energy drink, I want the song to be energetic. So I'll probably just filter
by energetic or uplifting or positive to match that
style of the product. Once you find a song you like, all you have to do
is click Download. And then once I did that, I'd put this song into iMovie right underneath
my video clip. And here's what it sounds like. That's it. As you can see, it's
pretty easy to make a short product
commercial and Canva. But now it's your turn to
make one for the project. Create a product
video in Canvas using the techniques I showed
you in this course, you can use any
products such as soda, ice cream, or even headphones. Once you create the video, you can upload it below. I look forward to
seeing your projects. Thank you so much for watching and I will see you next time.
