About This Class
(ETA July 2024: Friendly note that this class is fairly outdated. Motion graphics are much easier in other apps now, my favorite being Adobe Fresco. <3) Want to spruce up your blog or website with cute, animated GIFs? Ever needed the perfect reaction GIF for that one meme you love? (We've all been there.) Take this class to learn how you can make one yourself! I'll take you through the entire process of animating hand-drawn characters and lettering in Photoshop, from rough test runs to exporting. It's a lot easier than you might think!

This class is focused solely on learning basic GIF animation, not on designing and drawing characters. That being said, if you don't feel confident in your character drawing skills, you can simply create animated text!
So let's get started and make some GIFs!

Meet Your Teacher
Hi! My name's Melissa Lee, and I'm an illustrator and surface pattern designer living in the hilly forests of Northern California. Alongside doing freelance and art licensing work (I am a proud Riley Blake Designs fabric designer), I've spent much of my time cultivating my love of sharing what I know and encouraging others to nourish their creative side through teaching online art courses here on Skillshare. I love making patterns, character art, and watercolor paintings. I'm endlessly inspired by animals and nature (whether living today or extinct), science fiction and fantasy, space and astrology, witchy things, and bees.
Always bees.
I teach a wide range of topics on Skillshare, including classes on surface pattern design, creative entrepreneurship, vector prog... See full profile
