Copic Markers 101: The Basics

1. Introduction: Hi, everyone. My name is Haley. I'll be going through some basics of coping markers with you, such as which kind of coping markers. There are what colors I think would be good to start with. How to change your name, which is very important also, how to refill your markers and just some general information and care on your markets at the end. Awesome. Thank you for watching. And I hope you enjoy the video. 2. Different Types of Copic Markers: first thing we will be looking at today is the various types of markers that kopecks has to offer. We have the classic, the sketch, the wide the chow and then the refills which work for refilling all of your various types of markers. The sketch and classic are both very similar. They have a chisel in on one side and on the other end, which is marked by a little gray ring, they have the Russian it which is really nice for figuring out which side you're markers are on the white Kobe. It has a really massive brush, which is great for filling in tons and tons of color all at once, whereas with your normal kopecks, it would take a lot longer to Dio. And lastly, we have the chow, which, similar to the classic and sketch, has the chiseled in as well as the sketch new, which style of marker uses up to you. I myself prefer to use the sketch or the chow simply because they are easier to hold and are far less bulky. No matter what style you choose to use, make sure to get a variety of colors so that your art will always look it's best and really pop 3. Starter Colours: kopecks offer a wide variety of colors. There are a lot of them out there. Currently, there are 358 different colors you can choose from. These are just a few of the ones that I have for when you're getting your colors. There are definitely some basics you want to start with. I would definitely definitely recommend printing off a color church. This will make your life so much easier. It's just really great for helping keep track of colors what you have. So if you're going out to get more, you're not buying double ups, which I have done. Yeah, that's always fun. This is an example of what my color chart looks like. So as you can see, I've got quite a few. I've got a lot of the cools, the terms the tone, graze the warm greys. I haven't got any neutrals yet, but I am working on that. I also have a bunch of Brown's. I just got a couple new ones today. You want to make sure you have a really nice variety of blues, greens, oranges, reds, Orwell, yellow yellow reds and all that fun stuff. It'll just really help to bring all your hard work to life. The more variety have is honestly better in the long run. Now, of course, I understand kopeks or expensive, so it's hard to build that out. I would recommend getting a lot of base colors, and I will post a list of which ones I think are really good to start with on screen right now. Of course, please feel free to pause so you can read them over thoroughly. They can't wait to see. 4. How to Change the Nibs: All right. So next we will be learning how to change the niv on your co big marker. You only the marker you want to change, you'll need whichever Neb style you're getting. They have the brush nip and the chiseled live here. They usually come in packages of three at least as far as I've seen so far. And I recommend a pair of tweezers because unless you're changing, the colorless one is I'll be showing here you will get tons and tons of ink all over your fingers. All right, so super easy. We're just gonna take the lid off. We're gonna take our tweezers. We're gonna grab the tweezers by their I will just set aside are using him. We will take our noon and just bob it in there, and that's it. That is super simple. Your new marker is ready to go, and it's the same thing for the other, never or other side. You just again grab the used him bullet outside of decide and put in New Jersey. That said, There you go 5. How to Refill a Marker: So here we're going to be covering how to refill your coping marker. It's one thing I love about, Um it means I don't never have to keep buying re buying markers, cause the refills last you a long time. So of course you will need your refill ink. You will need the Kobe market that you are refilling. And again, I recommend a pair of tweezers because again, you might just get ink all over your hands. So steps are super simple. It's similar to changing your name. You're gonna take out They never You're from the marker you were wanting to change. We'll set that down, and we're gonna open our refill here. They just twist open. And now we're just going to line up or refill and put in drops there, and quite a few drops will go quite a long way. Just gonna put in a couple there. I don't use my clear to too often. And then we're gonna just put our name back in and I put the lid on can give a little bit of a shake to get the juices flowing again. And there you go. That is how you refill your marker. Nice. Straight and simple. 6. General Information and Blending: already. And lastly today we will be covering just some general information on your coping murders. So I'm going to start with I like, like using some blue. So I'm just going to show you just in general trips on how the blood I recommend putting down your lightest colors. First, listen, you've been coming and put your darker one underneath or on top, and then you can come in and your lighter one I find using helps it blend a lot better than if you put the darker run down first. This is just one personal experience. I imagine it will work either way again. This is just how I like to do it because it is not getting a really nice smooth look. Of course you want to use your lightest wants to blend nice and then they can give you a really smooth, radiant back here. And of course, the more ink you use be darker. It will get, the more it will blend together, which is really nice. Of course it will bleed through on the back. So you want to make sure you're not going to make a double sided or you're not planning to make it double sided. Yeah, I will. It will bleed through papers, but again, if you're not using the backside, that's not a big deal. Also, you conduce a medical effects with that when you get some color over needs I to use this white pencil. Here, you can get some lace looks over when it's when it's dry, it's better. This is still freshly wet, but you can get some cool stuff that's adding over top of that, and you could also use it with, of course, any ink. I do recommend letting either inking afterwards if you kind of know exactly what you're gonna be drawing or either inking first and then let it drying or a good amount of time. So let's see here. If I dio some colors here, sometimes just depending on ink you use, it will bleed together, which can can cause black to come on the end of your names, especially with your yellow colors, Iskan, your yellows and light greens. One others can be a big problem. So with eggs, I would just recommend to let them fully dry before usually, But still, even still, they drive pretty quick, which is really nice. They're fun to work with. And they can also be reactivated later. Even if you let them sit for a while because they're an alcoholic base. I wouldn't recommend, you know, dauntingly, you know lightly should be fine, but I wouldn't recommend, like, I can't even do it. I wouldn't I wouldn't recommend, Like pressing really hard on the tip of your marker. Um, it won't last too long. If you end up doing that, let's go over. What I did here is you concede a bit better, but yeah, um, like, they're good. They're good for doing small dots, which is quite nice. You can be quite precise with them. Thank quite fun. But you can I would recommend using them on their side as they are going to last the longest. This way you could get some Chris. Thanks. So let's what next color here? Yeah. So this is blending and reverses. You can see I find it still bloods really well. But I liked putting down the lighter color first cause just from again just from personal experience, I find it bloods way, way better. Don't know my killer and then medium love to get funding together despite and show you what the chiseled nib looks like really quick, Mom. And so the chisel. It is really great for coverage. Broad strokes. It still blends like the Russian if actually gives you quite nice, solid lines. So if that's something you're looking for, it is really good for that. I just prefer the brush side. Gives you a little bit of a more organic feel. Come in. We'll use our brushing up on this guy if you don't use the brushing it very often. Yeah, because you said nice. Really solid lines. So again, No, don't you know, go pounding on your marker and they will last you a lot longer if you don't. And yeah, just some some general tips. And you little smiley face E. Yeah, just, you know, treat you markers nicely. And the last you a long time Don't go throwing them against walls or anything crazy like that. 7.
