1. 01 Introduction: Thank you for taking this class. This class, I will teach you how to make these chocolate dream bars. I will teach you how to make the bottom layer that acts like the crust. Next, I will teach you how to make the middle layer or feeling that is very chocolatey and rich. Then I will teach you how to make the top layer. That is a chocolate drizzle. We will then drizzle the chocolate on top of our dream bars. I'm a self-taught painter. Many years ago. I decided that I wanted to open up my own home bakery, but I didn't feel like my decorating skills. We're up to the level that they needed to be. Took some online classes, watched a lot of videos, went to in-person classes, and of course did a lot of practice until I felt like my skills were up to the level that they needed to be. If I then opened up my own bakery. And I had this bakery for several years. My husband got a job offer across the country in New York City. And we felt like this was in first. And I close down my homepage and we moved across the country to New York City. Now here in New York, I do not want to go through the steps. But as retired teacher, I love teaching. Having own my own bake shop. I love baking and decorative. I have decided to share my skills with you it on Skillshare. This class is for the baker who would like to learn how to make a rich and delicious chocolate bar. I am excited to teach you the skills in this class. Let's move on to lesson number one, making the bottom crest. 2. 02 The Bottom Layer: We're ready to start making our cookies. We're gonna start by doing the bottom layer, or as I like to call it, depressed, this bowl. I'm going to add my 1 third cup butter and it has been softened. My 1.5 cup of brown sugar and it was packed down into here so that there weren't any air bubbles. Now, I'm gonna take my electric mixer. I like to jam it in. The better to start with. It is I don't want to be mixed in. Well, when I get a big chunk about six meters, I pull it out. I'm going to try to break it apart a little bit to do that. Scrape that. When you look at it, you don't see anymore chunks of butter. It's all just kind of a paste. Then you know, you have it. I'm going to go ahead and hit that little bit that's on the bidder's also in there. Now, what I want to do is I wanted to just take my one pet flower and dump it in there. And this time we're gonna stir it with my spatula. Again, I want to get all the flour mixed in with the sugar. You may have some fluff out. As you saw. I just did just be patient. Keep breaking it in there. I want that sugar and better, totally incorporated with the flower. I'm pressing that flower into sugar as I stood up when I don't see any, just flour, but it looks like it's all incorporated. Which as you can see, it's starting to look like. I'm ready to move on. I'm now going to take my hand and I'm going to use spray. Great. Great. On the bottom. We don't want our cookies to stick. Then we're going to dump into our PEM, spread it out. Supposed to be a very fine layer, the bottom. I'm spreading it out. Once I know I have it pretty much spread out and it's covering all of the pen. Go back. Wish it down. I want to try to make it kind of evenly attributed. Don't have a lot of high spots. I certainly don't want to see any Pam. Now, I'm gonna take this, bake it in the oven at 350 degrees on the middle back for ten minutes. 3. 03 The Middle Layer: Crust is baking. I'm gonna go ahead and make the feeling that goes on top. Let's show you how to do that. This bowl. I'm gonna put my two weeks, my cup of brown sugar, that's from my past, my spoon. Vanilla. I'm gonna go ahead with that beat up. I didn't take, I haven't this boat, my flower, my baking powder and myself. And I'm gonna dump that in str. So I'm just going to, we're now ready to put in the semi sweet chocolate. Milk chocolate. We wanted this in offset, will do all its melting goodness in the oven when it's taken. With this stem. We're going to wait now for the crest gonna speaking. That's got about three minutes. I want you to stump baking. We will pull it out and put this on top of the crust. 4. 04 Baking The Cookies: Oven is just about ready to. Let us show you how I add that middle mixture to the crust. I'm gonna pull out. Now I'm gonna take that I just mixed up. I'm going to give a one more str because it sat for a minute. That crest. If you go down, make sure you get all of that stuff out. And then spread this around Japan. As I spread it. This is what it looks like after I've spread it. I'm now gonna pick this back in the oven and bake it for another 15 to 20 minutes. So I will start it at 15 and check it. If it's not done that I'll give it another five. Our timer has just gotten. Will turn that off. So I'm gonna open up the oven and we're gonna see, is that golden brown? If it is, we'll pull it out. Well this out, that golden brown. We're now going to let it cool completely. After it has cold. We will then make the drizzle. It goes on top and drizzle it will be back after it has quote. 5. 05 The Chocolate Drizzle: We're ready now to make the chocolate drizzle that goes on top. I have this microwave safe cup. I got to pour my cup of chocolate chips. In here. Are my two teaspoons of oil in here. Now I'm going to take this and put it in the microwave for about one minute and then stood and see if it's melted. This was in the microwave for one minute and now I'm just going to see if it's melted. And I probably didn't need a quite a minute because that is definitely noticed it. Now, I'm gonna take this sandwich bag, I'm gonna put this chocolate into the sandwich bag. I'm going to just pour it in there. The reason I'm doing this is because it's easier to drizzle it. If I have just a little hold at the chocolates coming out. I don't really want to decorate it back. We're doing cake decorate. This is gonna be good enough. Get that in there. Then I'm gonna close that up. That backlight that just a little bit so that I can cut. I had my pan of cookies and I'm just going to take this drizzle it on the cookies. Going to go all different directions so that by the time we're done, this, no one direction that's going. Do you want to get all of it on there? Looking to see where there might not be that much. Now going to take this and put it in the fridge. Hour for totally set up and this chocolate to become hard. Then we'll be able to take it out and cut it. 6. 06 Final Thoughts: Thank you for taking this class. We had fun making our chocolate dream bark cookies. You learned how to make the steel is chocolate cookie, that is o. So first we learned how to make the bottom layer, which kind of serves as the crust for our cookie. Next, we made that middle cookie layer, which was very rich with all of that chocolate. When those were baked and cooled, we then made the drizzle chocolate for on top and dress up the chocolate onto our cookie bars to make that rich, decadent cookie. I hope your cookies turned out the way you plan them to. Your project for this class is to make these. Please upload a picture of your cookies to our project page. Let us know how it went. I look forward to hearing from me from my kitchen to your kitchen. Happy baby.
