1. 01 - Intro: It's way going to work with these. Best recreate this on this. Let's go outside Sunset and painted Tweet. Best does. I'm going to show you how. 2. 02 - About the course: In the following lectures, we will talk about soft pastels and the color palette as well. Also the type of decompositions and how we can choose the right one to paint a sunset. After that, we will start to draw roughly to define the main elements of the landscape. I will try to explain my tips and techniques of how to blend different colors to achieve the desired effect. I will talk about my tips for papers and compositions as well. Try yourself. Let join me and enjoy creating with a beautiful classic technique. 3. 03 - Pastels and compositions: In this course, we will work with the following soft pastels from different brands. Bad audio, which means RAM brand. If you can buy from these brands, it doesn't matter, try to find a similar color to it. So let's see the colors. As you can see, they are mostly warm colors, sky blue, purple, brushing dark green. Bought the early writers. Permanent red, one pair, light oxy dried, lighter orange, grab black, ivory black. That blue, deep Violet, burnt umber, burnt sienna, brighter, there's Naples yellow radiation. The other important thing that we need is a paper. There are many types of pastel or crayon paper. In my opinion, a watercolor paper is also fine to draw with soft pastel. They have beautiful textures. On the other hand, we can choose colors as well, from dark colors to white. My choice is not a bright or white one. Actually, this is a dark indigo Fabriano paper. In my opinion, it will be perfect to paint a sunset because it is dark and warm at the same time, profitably darker papers can add more contrast to the pastor paintings. What about black papers? I don't like them because they have no pigment in nature. We can see real blacks. Every deep and dark color has pigment, so they bluish maybe or something like that. I recommend dark colored papers for painting a sunset. Talk about the composition. There are two main compositional formats, portrait and landscape. In this course, I'm going to use the landscape format. Both are good. If you want to choose portray format, we are free to use your choice. The other question is, what kind of aspect will be good for us? It means the ratio of the width and height of the composition scar format is one-by-one. Hd is 16 by nine. The ratio at this time is approximately eight by six. We can create different moods by defining the horizon line. The easiest way is when the horizon is perfectly in the middle of the picture. I guess it's a little bit static, not too exciting. Let's see what it will look like. If we move this line to up or down in higher position, we will get bigger ground and this guy will be smaller. I want to choose a lower position for the horizon. The dam is sunset. I want to see the big reddish color, clouds and a huge sky. We can achieve a more dramatic effect with this choice. So we will start to grow from here. 4. 04 - Painting with pastel 1: First, I'm going to start by defining the frame of the composition and the aspect. It was catching this, I'm going to use burnt sienna. Do not use black for sketching. Try to use something with a similar color tone, like the dam of the picture. So warm brown and sienna will be absolutely good. It is my landscape format frame. I'm going to use a lower line for the horizon at this time. As I said, to see the big clouds. Also, I want to focus on this guy, not the ground. This will be the biggest cloud in the picture, and I will paint a small arrow next to it. Draw some little pieces. Do. This line will represent the border of the bright and dark side of the cloud is sunshine does not shine through under the line. So change the crayon to burnt umber and use it gently where I'm painting the base of this guy. Then use it a little bit stronger when painting the ground. The next gray and I'm going to use is the Prussian dark green. I want to mix it with the burnt amber. Reside is a dark and warm bluish color. So we started to paint from dark to bright. 40 Holy red earth is the name of the pasta that I will choose. Fear the clouds. I want a warm color to it because it will be a sunset scene. That is the reason why I'm choosing these pastors. Withdrawing softly. I'm going to define the horizon line. Unfortunately, I can see the frame really. The outline must be taken much better. The next step is to create a darker ground. Now, the ivory black, a fine choice to paint it. I'm going to use vertical moves with my hand, not horizontally. As you can see, there are three different colors. So try to use differential area softly to get a better and more complex result. Usually, I use vertical movement for painting the sky and horizontally for the ground. Sometimes I want to leave these kinds of rows. The result will be more interesting. And this method can help us to focus on the big clouds. The vertical patches can guide the loop to the center. Elements of the scene. In the far background, I want to see some trees. Of course, these are flat and have dark tones. When it's dark, we can't really recognize the branches and leaves. Here's the Cray and stronger to add more pigment. Now, I'm going to choose permanent red to add dark tones to the clouds. Also add a little bit with this color to the ground entries. In the following steps, we, we're worth more to define this guy. I guess we need some bluish colors to it. So the crayon that I'm going to choose is the dark blue. When I'm painting the sky, I use vertical movement and I use low air pressure because we are mixed the shaded and bright patch on the top of this cloud, I use the colors strongly. It can help to define the silhouette of the clouds. Also use the same method on the ground. With this blending technique, we can create a warm, bluish color. Grab another, so fasta. This one is the sky blue. Now I'm going to draw the negative space of the clouds, the Cray and strongly at this time. I love this effect. Who and the cold and warm colors meet each other. Anyway, red and blue are complimentary colors. Of course. This combination provides a high contrast and high impact color combination together, these colors will appear brighter and more prominent. Now, define the shapes of the trees we discussed earlier. The ground can reflect the sky tones, so I'm going to use this color for it. Let's use another color. Choose the deep violet or something like that. I'm going to blend the color of the clouds and the sky with this violet. Actually, I use this crayon like a fingerprint or tissue. So I tried do it very softly. Use different movements when you draw. We need some sharp shapes as well. For the ground, looks like a harder reflections. I'm going to blend the colors just near the frame. So it will be blurry a little bit. We can focus on the center more. Now, I'm going to change the pasta to a warmer one. This is the burnt umber. There is no need to add much pigment. Just a few nice. 5. 05 - Painting with pastel 2: Grab the light orange pasta. I'm going to use it for the brighter parts of the clouds. Also differ. The clouds choose the bright red to asbestos. It is busy for Wendy's color, meets with Barbara. No, use the crab black. Sometimes we need to warn the crayon. I meant to use only for the clouds to add more brilliant warm tones. Now I'm going to add more color contrast to my work. The next best is the permanent red. I'm going to highlight the silhouette of the clouds. I guess this will be the warmest part of the picture. Maybe add a little bit for the trees in the far. Blend the red with bright red specialist. So I'm going to use it for the background. Sometimes there are too much pigment on the paper, so we cannot add more pigment to it. So if I use the pastors, unfortunately, I it isn't the layers under it. Before I continue it, I have to fix this problem. A strong hairspray is perfect choice. If we want a cheap and useful trick. If you want, you can buy crayon fixative as well. When you use the hairspray, try to use thin layers. When you use too much spray, the colors we're being met. After using the spray, wait a few minutes to dry. Let's continue the painting. I'm going to add more details for the clouds with a light blue color. Because we fixed our pigment problem. Now we got a new paper. So the carriers, we're not blend with previous ones. Now grab the permanent red. Again. It will add more atmosphere to our sunset. Okay, In my opinion, we need to add more orange to the clouds. Just a few. Nice. Crayon I'm going to use is actually the brightest color. So the method I use is from dark colors. Too. Bright colors do not change this way because dark colors can mess up the brighter ones. This one is the Naples yellow, reddish. Drew a few lines only we did the upper lining of the clouds. Good. I guess it looks fine. We have finished our project. I know it looks like an abstract art. The important thing is the mood. We can feel, the sunset, the vivid colors and sharp contours by the last rays of the sun. 6. 06 - Conclusion: So here is my version of this soft pastel painting. I know it is not an easy thing to follow a painting with classic techniques for the first time. That is no control Z and undo. It is different from a digital drawing, but it is a unique and soft technique and I really recommend you try it. I hope this course how the Lord and you found a use for info's. You want to know. If you have any questions, feel free to ask me. Die.
