2. Introduction: Hey, friends. So productivity. The very word tells you to focus on producing results, as they say. Just do it. Sounds easy, doesn't it? Well, as it turns out, it is not that easy. Why? Well, I won't go into the science of it, but basically, we as humans are hardwired to do things that we truly enjoy doing things that are stimulating. That is why it is so easy to get suck on Facebook, YouTube or Netflix, etcetera. We are so easily distracted. It is almost ridiculous. I mean, I am no better. I have actually struggled my whole life with procrastination. Pro What? Procrastination. It is a term that means that you push things forward that you should do in favour off things that you want to do right now, things that are more fun. I remember when I was in school, I always postponed studies for exams until the very last days before the test. The only thing that made me study like crazy those final days were the approaching deadline . What I did then was procrastinating, and it turns out that deadlines or one of the best proven ways to get things done. But what if you want to get productive without having deadlines on every single task. Deadlines also depend on having some accountability on. It is very hard to set deadlines for yourself. I bet you want to know the best practices to actually become a more productive person without relying on deadlines. Well, in my personal experience, there are three pillars you should strengthen to become more productive. Focus, energy and motivation. This course will teach you how to improve your ability to focus, which is the first pillar off my productivity secrets.
3. Distractions: Hey, friends, we as humans are so easily distracted as soon as we see or hear something remotely interesting, we have to struggle to stay focussed on whatever we do. And today we are surrounded by so many distractions. It is almost overwhelming for our mind to handle phones, ringing text messages and emails alerting us app, notifications, beeping social media feeds, attracting our attention. And so we are living in a noisy world. This is one of the main reasons we failed to be productive. Distractions is the villain, and focus is the hero. So let's give the here of some power to save the day, make a habit off actually doing some preparations before you start to focus on productive work. Get rid off all those distractions. Switch your phone to do no disturb. Turn off all browser tabs and APS that are not necessary for the work you are about to do. Make sure your work area is clean and organized. All we have the tools and equipment you need in front of you. Basically, you want to create a distraction free sown around you so that you can focus 100% on your task. So ask yourself what things are often distracting you from focusing on your task. Is it Facebook YouTube, email or text messages? Your action item for this video is to write a list of your personal distractions. Then make sure you remove those distractions before you start a work session. Now that you know about the importance of removing distractions, let's move on to the next video, my friends.
4. To Do List: Hey, friends, I find it very effective to write every single task I need to do on a to do list. This way, I always know what should get down. It can be a symbol as a chick books list or as advanced as a project management software. I find the most important thing is that you don't spread your to do's into different places . Choose one to do up and stick to it. Collect every to do in one place. I recommend you to use an app that sinks between all your devices so that wherever you are , you can add a to do or check what is next. It is also important to prioritize your tasks in your to do list. Otherwise, it is so easy to do things that are not important right now. You should also make a routine off checking and reviewing your to do list at least once a week. I find that when I do this, I always find some traduced that I simply need to remove because it turned out I don't need to finish them most often. It is because I have made it to do out of an idea and not every idea will or should be realized. So keep your to do list. Organized, prioritized and up to date. Another benefit of a to do list is that you get such a wonderful feeling offer you check off a task you have completed. This feeling is very motivating and makes you want to get more things down, so it becomes a positive cycle that boosts your productivity. Your action item for this video is to find a to do up that sews your work full. Then make a structure for it and add all the two Duce. You can think of everything you plan to do for the next few weeks. Now you have learned how you can use a to do list to boost your productivity and focus on the most important things. So let's continue in the next video, my friends
5. Calendar: friends, you can use a calendar in many ways. Most people use it to schedule things that are dependent on a time and place, like meetings and events. But you can actually use a calendar to boost your productivity. How well you can. For example, schedule your work sessions or poor Maduro's in your calendar. To get some accountability to yourself, try to find a time slot that you can use every day for your work sessions, since this will build a positive habit and mo mentum because getting things done on a daily basis will give you a postive feeling, which will help you increase your motivation. So, for example, you could schedule in your calendar to work on your business or project between six PM and seven PM Monday to Friday. That's Onley five hours a week, but you will be amazed by how much you can get done in just one hour off highly focused work. Just make sure that you know exactly what to work on when you start each work session. I usually perform the upcoming week every Sunday. It only takes about 30 minutes and is very effective for prioritizing and staying focused during the week. I have even scheduled this planning time in my calendar. So your action item for this video is to find a time slot in your calendar where you can scheduled one hour off focused work every week, day, then schedule it as a recurring event and name it, for example. Focus. Our now you know how you can use your calendar to boost your productivity. So let's continue, my friends.
6. Pomodoro: friends. There is a technique you can use to help you stay focused when you work. Well, actually have. Sure, there are more techniques, but this one I have personally used a lot, and it works great. It is called the Pro Maduro Technique. The way that it works is that you do your focused work in 25 minutes time segments, followed by a five minute break. And then after three repetitions off these time slots, you take a longer 25 minute break. There are APS for your smartphone you can use to time your work sessions and breaks. Just search for pro Maduro where you download your raps. But I actually find that I like the old school way better, which is to use an ordinary egg timer. I find that the analog ticking sound actually helps me stay focused and avoid distractions . Whatever you decide to use, make sure that you are strict on the Pomodoro segments. There is a psychological science behind the way it works, and you really need to take those five minute breaks to be effective. I just think of it as rules. I have to play by the rules in order to win the game. Cheating will disqualify me. So using the Pomodoro technique and following the time counter and segments strictly have made a huge difference for me. Personally, I highly recommend you to test the Pomodoro technique. It is a proven method for increasing your ability to focus. So your action item for this video is to either download a Pomodoro app for your smartphone or use an ordinary egg timer, then try to do a complete Pomodoro section and please really try to do it strict by the rules. Now you know how you can use the Pomodoro technique to boost your focus power. So let's continue in the next video, my friends.
7. Singletasking: Hey, friends. It is scientifically proven that multitasking is extremely inefficient. Our brain is Onley men to focus on one thing at a time, and every time you switch your focus, it takes time to get two full speed again. Imagine this as if you're on a train that goes at full speed. What if the train switched focus all of a sudden and decided that the complete opposite direction should be the new focus? Well, first, it would take quite a long time to stop the train. Then it would also take a very long time to accelerate the train back to full speed in the opposite direction. Now imagine that your work focus is like a train. You need to stay on the track to stay focused. Feel the rhythm off the engine as you progress forward towards your destination. Resist the urge to check your email, Facebook page or anything else as you work on your single task. When you are in focus mode, stay in focus. If you truly want to become more productive, learn how to focus on one single task at a time. I want you to start a new habit today, which is to do regular focused sessions. Think of it as starting to exercise regularly to improve your health and energy. Doing these focused sessions will be very difficult in the beginning, just like the resistance you feel when you try to develop an exercise routine every week. But as you strengthen this habit, you will realize how fulfilling it is and how much it really improves your productivity. You know how they say that runners become addicted to running well. You can actually become addicted to focus sessions, at least from high personal experience, simply because how good it feels to be so productive and get so much done in a short amount of time. So your action item for this video is to start a new habit to work in focused sessions, which means to focus 100% on a single task at a time. For example, when the task is to write a script, focus only on writing your script now you know how you can use single tasking to improve your focus and productivity. So let's continue in the next video. My friends
8. Temptations: Hey, friends, I have found that it is highly effective to remove temptations in your environment that can ruin your focus. It is like when I have cookies or other treats at home. It is so hard to receive the temptation to not have the cookie with my coffee after lunch. Even if I have decided that I will only have these streets on weekends because I want to be healthy, it still takes a high amount of willpower to rece East. The cookie, especially if it lies there, only played in front of me when I have my coffee. This is no rocket science. It is just human nature. So what can I do to help myself in this case? Well, that's easy. Remove the cookie from the equation, either by not buying cookies at all or by storing them in a very difficult place to reach, so that I only bring them out on the weekends on How does this relate to productivity? Well, it is the same principle that applies. Helping ourselves rece east the temptation by simply removing it from our immediate surroundings. That can mean closing all APS and programs that you don't need for the task at hand and putting your phone in your pocket or even turning it off, switching off the TV, music or anything that draws your attention. Really. Basically, you remove anything around you that have a possibility to attract your and attention in any way. So your action item for this video is to write a list of what temptation you have in your working environment. Then, before every focused session, try to remove these temptations from the equation. Now you have learned how to help your focus by removing temptations from your environment. So let's continue in the next video, my friends.
9. Triggers: Hey, friends, you can help your mind focus by using a cue or trigger off some kind if you use the same trigger for every time you want to do a focused session. Now this what might seem strange, but psychological triggers actually do work. It is like a mantra to help you get into the right mindset. A personal example is that for my focus, recessions. I always have a fresh cup of coffee to start it with when I put the coffee cup on the table . That's the psychological trigger for my focus session to start. Then I know that I will go into focus mode for these triggers. To work, you have to build a habit out of them. It is actually the habit that makes it a trigger. So the first time you use a new trigger, it won't have the powerful psychological effect. That's why you need to make sure you use the same trigger every time until the habit is formed. The general rule is 21 days to build a habit, so it would be best if you can do a focus session every day for 21 days and each time used the same trigger. Then you will have a powerful trigger that will help you get into focus mode every time. So what kind of figure shell you use? Well, it can be anything, really. I use a cup of coffee is a trigger, but here are a couple of examples to help you get ideas. Light a candle, read your favorite motivational quote. Make a special cup of tea, etcetera. Whatever you choose, make sure you stick to it and develop the trigger into a habit by using it every time you want to have a productive focus a session. So your action item for this video is to think about. What kind of trigger would you like to use for your focus sessions? And when you come up with one, write it down. Now we have learned how you can use a trigger for your focused sessions to help you get into the right mindset. So let's continue in the next video. My friends
