1. Introduction and Supplies You Will Need: Hi friends, how are you? I hope you're having a great day today. I'm excited about sharing this project with you. This is a drawing and watercolor painting project that I designed especially for kids. Students do not need to have any drawing or painting experience at all to be successful with this project. I will guide students step by step through all the steps that they need to take. Today, we are going to be creating the shamrock bouquet. I hope that you have a lot of fun with this project. Let's get started. 2. Step 1: Draw a Shamrock Bouquet Design: In this step, we are going to draw our Shamrock Bouquet. Let's get started. The first thing that we're going to do is pick up our black oil pastel or crayon. We're going to find the middle of our piece of paper. The middle of my piece of paper is right here. We're going to go down just a little bit about right here. The first thing that we're going to do is we're going to make a line, straight line, about that size. If yours is a little bit larger or smaller, that's okay. Above this line, we are going to be creating our shamrock bouquet. And below this line, we are going to create a vase and a small section of table. All right, so let's start up here at the top. What we're going to do first is we're going to draw some shamrocks. Some small shamrocks. They're not going to be huge. All right. Let me show you how I like to draw a shamrock. I start with a heart like this, added to this heart. I'm going to draw another heart on this side, on the right hand side, and then another heart on the left hand side. And these hearts are going to be on the side, and they're going to connect right here in the middle. A sideways heart here, then a sideways heart here. That's how I make a shamrock. We're not going to create the stems right now. Okay. We're going to wait on that now. Let's find another spot that we're going to make another shamrock. I think I'm going to make one here, and this one's going to be tilted to the side a little bit. You can go ahead and decide where you would like to put another shamrock. I have a heart connected to a heart connected to a heart. Then I'm going to continue to make maybe three to five more shamrocks, depending on how I feel in that moment. So I'm going to make another shamrock here. Now that we've drawn our Shamrocks up here above this line, what we're going to do is we're going to fill in the rest of the space up here above the line with more plants and different flowers. Okay? You can choose which type of plants or flowers, or leaves that you would like to create. I'm going to give you some examples. I'm going to try to, this type of plant looks like this. You make a curve line, and then attached to that curve line you put some small circles. Now I think what I'm going to do is I'm going to make one more of these, but it's going to come off this way. Let me show you what I'm going to do. I'm going to come from the bottom here. From the line, I'm going to jump over that shamrock. And I'm going to jump over that shamrock as well. I'll stop right there. There we go. All right. The next thing that we're going to do is we're going to add some different types of leaves and flowers. I'm going to start with some flowers, so I'm going to make some daisy type flowers. I'll start with a circle and then I'll make some really long petals. And I'm going to just fill in the rest of this space with these flowers, and then any other leaves that I feel like putting on my piece of paper. All righty friends, I feel really good about my drawings so far. I'm just going to fill in some last small spaces with some stems for my flowers and for my sham rocks. And then I might add some leaves as well to those stems. Okay, For example, I'll start with this sham rock right here. I'm going to make a line coming down to the top of that line, the vase line. And then I'll make another little line right here. And then I'll make another one right here. I'm just connecting the flowers and the Shamrocks into this line right here at the top of our vis All right. Friends. So I've made sure that I've connected all of my daisies and my shamrocks to this part of the line right here. Now I'm going to add some small leaves where I feel like there's a little bit of space that needs to be filled in. All right. Dear friends, I feel like I'm finished drawing my shamrocks and my flowers and my leaves, and it looks pretty busy at this point. And that's exactly what I want. We're going to move down here to this part of our piece of paper. As you can see, we have our line here and we have all of our bouquet up here. And then we're going to create our vase down here. You can make any shape of vase that you like. I'm just going to make a very simple vase that looks like this. I think I'm going to put some stripes on it. I think that that will look really nice. You can choose any type of design that you would like to put on your vase to make it unique and special. I'm going to choose these stripes. There we go. Now, down below, let's add a table. I'm going to add a curve line here, and then a curve line over here. On this side, our vase is sitting on a table. When we come back, we will start painting our design. 3. Step 2: Paint the Design: In this step, we are going to paint our design. Let's get started. The first thing that we're going to do is we are going to add one or two drops of water into each of our pans of paint. What this will do is it will soften up our paints a little bit so that they are easier for us to use. I really do encourage my students to take this step because it does help. Now that our paints are softening up, let's turn our attention to our design. What we're going to paint in this step is just this bouquet of flowers and shamrocks. Okay, so we're not going to focus on anything else like the vase or the table, or the background, we're just going to focus on the flowers and the leaves and the Shamrocks. Sound good. All right. So what we're going to do is we're going to use either our larger or our smaller paintbrush, depending on the space. If you have a smaller space, you might want to consider using a smaller paint brush. If you have a larger space like the Shamrocks, you can go ahead and use your larger brush. It's completely up to you. All right. I think I'm going to use the smaller paint brush for my Shamrocks. And I'm just going to start by painting my Shamrocks. Then what I'm going to do after I'm finished painting my Shamrocks is I'm going to go ahead and move on to my flowers and my leaves. All right, friends, I'm finished painting the bouquet of flowers and Shamrocks. So what we're going to do in the next step is we will start painting the background. 4. Step 3: Paint the Background: In this step, we are going to paint the background of our design. Let's get started. The first thing that we're going to paint is our vase. Your vase might look different from mine. That's okay. That's a good thing. What you get to do is paint your vase, any colors that you choose. You can use your larger paint brush for larger spaces and your smaller paint brush for smaller spaces. I'm going to use my smaller paint brush because I do have long and thin spaces. Then we're going to move onto the table. You can choose the color for your table. Then after that, we're going to paint the background, which can get a little bit tricky inside of these tiny spaces, but I'll show you what to do. Let's start out by painting our vase. I'm just going to paint my vase. Green and white, Green and white stripes because this is a sham rock. Okay? I want to keep with the theme of green, but you get to choose the colors that you would like to paint your base. All right, now I'm going to paint my table a light brown. And I'm going to use my larger paint brush for this part because this is a larger space. I'm going to paint this space light brown. There we go. Now I'm going to paint the background space that's behind the flowers and right here on the sides, I'm going to paint that a light blue. I'm going to make some light blue paint with my water and my blue paint because I want the paint to be pretty light. The reason why I want it to be light is because I really want those shamrocks and the flowers to stand out. I'm going to create that blue paint like this. All right? And then we're going to test it out to see how that looks. That looks nice. It's pretty light. I'm not sure if you can see how light that is on the video, but what I'm going to do is I'm just going to start painting all of those white spaces. You don't need to be that careful about it, just fill in some spaces. If you leave a little bit of space white, that's okay. Just do the best that you can. Because this really, and it can get tricky if you try to get every little space. So I'm going to go ahead and speed up the video and you can watch me paint all these tiny little spaces. And I'll see you back here in just a minute. All righty funds, I'm finished painting my design. It took me a while, but I got it done and I had a lot of fun. And that's the important thing. As you can see, some of my color spread into each other and that is absolutely fine. I hope that you had a lot of fun with this project. I will see you next time.
