Affinity is a free graphic design application that is now owned and provided by Canva. Although it is free, Affinity is a professional-grade software comparable to Adobe applications. What is great about Affinity is that it integrates all the graphic design features into a single app. If you can imagine Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign, all combined into a single software, well, that is basically what Affinity is.
In this course, you will learn how to use Affinity's vector tools to design professional logos and icons. Even if you have never used Affinity or any other graphics software before, there is no need to worry, as we will start from level zero, or the very basics. The curriculum is carefully crafted for convenience and speed, allowing you to master Affinity quickly through an easy, fun learning experience. Throughout the course, you will complete a series of hands-on projects, starting with simple icons and gradually moving up to more challenging vector logos and complex drawings.
What you will learn
There are a lot of things that you are going to learn in this course. It would be impossible to explain all of them in detail in this short description. But, just for a quick preview, this online course consists of 8 chapters, excluding the introduction chapter.
In chapter one, you will learn the essentials, such as the UI, navigation, creating parametric vector objects, object transformations, how to work with layers, duplicating objects, and so on. In chapter two, you will learn snapping and alignment. You will learn how to use the grid, rulers, guides, alignment with key objects, distribute objects, and so on. In chapter three, you will start drawing and editing vector graphics. You will learn different types of vector nodes, tweaking handles and segments using the "Node" tool, learn how to use the "Pen" tool, the "Corner" tool, the "Contour' tool, and so on. In chapter four, you will learn different techniques to combine vector objects. You will learn the "Merge Curves" command, "Boolean" operations, "Compound" objects, the "Shape Builder" tool, layer clipping, layer masking, and so on. In chapter five, you will learn basic to advanced techniques related to vector stroke. You will learn how to create dashed lines, "Path Brush", variable stroke width, and so on. In chapter six, you will learn all the coloring techniques available in Affinity. You will learn how to pick colors, using gradient and gradient mesh, how to use the "Flood Fill" tool, using "Swatches, and so on. In chapter seven, you will learn different techniques related to text and managing vector assets. You will learn how to use the "Artistic Text" tool, placing a text on a path, warping vector shapes, using the "Assets" panel, and so on. In chapter eight, you will work on three final projects, including a candy logo, a laundry logo, and a game title.
So, join the course now! And start creating beautiful logos and icons using Affinity.
