1. Introduction: Hello, welcome to this class Adobe Audition 101 for podcasters, how to apply effects and make your podcast shine. I am Alejandra, and I am going to be your teacher today. In this class, you are going to learn how to apply effects in auditions so your podcast will sound more professional, clear, and neat, and of course, your audience will fall in love with the message you are trying to spread. You're going to learn how to remove your background noise. You're going to learn how to apply effects in the wave form, and in multi-track and don't worry if you have no idea what this word means. You're also going to get familiarized with the platform. That's our first step because you don't need any previous experience to take this class. This class is a thoroughly beginner's class. Don't worry if you've never opened audition, I get you, I was there a year ago. Don't worry, I was there and I learned how to do it and what I want to do right now is to teach you with the exact things that you need to, without the fluff, without the technical stuff, just the things you need to go on, edit your podcast, make it shine, make it really professional, make it really enjoyable for your audience, and of course, thrive with your podcast. As I told you before, I am your teacher, I am Alejandra Tello, and I am an audiovisual communicator. I have over five years of experience in industries from film to marketing to right now content creation. I am in my daily basis editing podcasts, videos, grain for websites, making websites, everything that it's among content or digital content array now. For this class, you're going to need to have the Adobe Audition software installed in your computer. If you don't have it, I'm going to leave a link down below in the description so you can purchase it. I really recommend you to purge the other of Creative Cloud because you will have access to a lot of softwares that will help you down in your podcasts, in your content creation process, and I'm also going to have a lot of classes about different software skills in that cloud, so I really recommend it. Also you will need some headphones like this, or you can use your earphones, the ones that you use for your cellphone. The most important thing if you use them, is to be in a really quieted space with no noise around. Before we continue, I just want to add a little disclaimer. English is not my first language, so perhaps I have some accent or I misspoke some words, but it's okay, this is not about being perfect, this is about getting stuff done, and I hope you really enjoyed this class. I'm going to give you pro tips and I'm going to give you all the insights of how I do my work and how do I make this podcast. Also a big shout out to Chase Your Fears Podcast, which is one of my clients, and the sample file that I'm going to use right now is from them, is one of the words that I'm doing from them. A big shout out is Chase Your Fears Podcast. You can go ahead and listen in iTunes or the podcast platform. You prefer it with Diana Co stampeded Nudge, and that's all also let start right now. In the next class we are going to start with our workflow and getting familiarized with this amazing platform. I guarantee you, you will love it when you end this class, you will. It's not complicated, is not that fluff that you heard about. It's amazing and it will make such a difference in your podcast. I can guarantee you that. Let's start right now.
2. How to Navigate Adobe Audition: In this first lesson, we are going to cover your workflow. We're going to set up your workflow to set yourself up for success. Second, we are going to do an overview of the platform of audition. Let's just start with a workload. Basically what I want you to do is go ahead and answer into your main business folder and create one folder that's called podcast, and in the podcast folder you want to create two sub folders. One is going to be called, zero one original files, and the other one is going to be called zero one edited files. In both of the folders, I just want you to create a folder for each of your episodes. Let's say you're editing right now with me episode one, so create one folder that is called episode one in both, let me just show you what I mean. If I go to original files here, we have episode one, and here I have the sample that I'm going to use in this class with you. If I go back, I have my edited files and I'm going to just mirror it. Basically I go into the edited files, I have episode one and I have all the audio files. Basically, I use copy and paste files from the original files, to the edited version of it. Why? Because the original files are going to work as a backup in case something happened, in case something goes wrong, you can go back and have like a cushion to fall on. Because in audition, there is some parts that you will have a destructive improving your audio, meaning that if you do something, you save it, you close the software and you open it again. You cannot take back that edit, you cannot control set, you cannot say rewind, nothing because it's done it's already part of the file. If you don't have your originals setup in another space, you won't have a place to go back in case you commit some mistakes, which is normal because we all make mistakes mostly when you are starting. I just want you to set up for success and have these middle, amazing caution to fall on If you ever make a mistake. Now, let's just dig in, into audition, let's open audition, and here we are in audition and I'm just going to close this. This is how you get started, this is how you're going to see it. Because sometimes it starts with this panel here in essential sound. You don't need it for any of these class, so let's use here in the hamburger menu and say close panel, and that way you have more space. Let's just create our first multi-track session. Let's go new, multi-track session, and you need to hear in the name, I'm going to name it just episode one, audition session, and here do you see browse? I'm already there, but look for the folder. Basically you just want to be zero to edited files, and in the episode you're editing and you choose. The template, leave it a non, sample rate leave it in 48,000, bit depth 32 float it's okay, master in stereo, and just hit "OK", and it's done, you create your first multi-track. The first thing we want to do is just name your tracks that way you are going to keep organized, yeah, I know I love to keep things organized in these type of things, I'm not that organized in my life, but in this, yeah. The first one, let's call it Music, this is normally what I do, this one is intro, and outro. To name it, you just need to click in the name and it will let you. Here just call it host, that would be you. In the four, just put interview. You can click going in these little lateral thing with colors, just click and drag down and it will drag down. Let's name the five ads in case you are going to add some ads. I think that's all. We have the last one is the Master, just leave it like that because you need it. This six one you don't need it, so we just click on it and go to multi-tracks and delete selected track, that way you have more space. Yeah, this is amazing. Let's do another thing also. I want you to go here in the first in music, you have two arrows, one going to the right and one going to the left. In the one going to the left, right now it says Master, just click there and go to bus, add bus, stereo. You see this little yellow block it added bus A, let's just name it "SubMaster". This is going to be handled later towards the end, and let's use drag it down, so you just click on the color and drag it down, just above Master. This because we're organized. Basically what we did is the following. Let's just do an analogy with a cocktail, because let's have fun. Basically the music, the intro, the outro, the host, all of these tracks that we just named, are like the ingredients for the cocktail. There's vodka, there's gin, there's the little lime juice, there's grenadine, whatever you put in your favorite cocktail. The SubMaster, that is the one we created, they're in the bus, the SubMaster is like these steel shaker, the one that you just put with ice and you just shake it, that is the SubMaster. Basically we're putting all the ingredients, we're putting the music, the intro, the outro, all of the voices and we're just mixing it in the SubMaster, and the master is like the glass, so you just pour that in the glass and you put the final touches in the master. In the master is where you want to put that lime cyst, that little cherry on top or the nice little straw or whatever you use to decorate it. That way, the waitress, you just take it and it's amazing for your customer to have. That is basically the way things work in this multi-track you just go through the steps. Here right now in the multi-track is the first part of the audition platform or interface. Here, if you're familiarized with video editing, it's like your timeline is where you put all of your audio files, you mix it together, is where you call that [inaudible]. That sometimes we do, and you put everything together here. The other part that audition have is this waveform that I love, we have to create first before going into the waveform, we have to import first our audio file. I forgot completely. Thank you, audition, sometimes it reminds you things. Let's go to our folder in edited files, that's important, and grab your audio file. You can use hold the click hold and drag it into one of the tracks. This is my host voice, so I'm going to just drag it into the host and let it go, and it's there. You already imported your first audio file, that is easy. If you cannot do it this way, you can also go to file, import file and just find it here in your folders in your computer. It will do the same thing, it's here, let's listen to it. That needs some work This is what we are going to work. The waveform. You can access the waveform double-clicking on your audio file, or also from the multi-track to select your audio file and click up here, waveform. The waveform, it's amazing because it's a visual way to see your audio. You see, you can see it here. It will open like this for you. I love to use, go ahead here down, you see where two arrows go and just drag this up, because what I love the most about the waveform is this part actually, this is the real visual representation of how your audio sounds like. Basically, the yellow means that it's really high up in volume, and going towards the purple, the purple means that it's really low in volume. Also if it goes from here down, it's low pitch like those [inaudible] that's little pitch and these high pitch that is, aah, that aaah, that is sometimes so annoying when you hear about the [inaudible] hits up here right now. That's why I love the waveform, because you can actually see your audio. Here the waveform is where you do that type of destructive, improving your audio type of thing. Everything that you're doing, the waveform is something that you can not take back if you save it and close it. That's why we need our backup, don't worry. I know it sounds scary but for me, the waveform when I started I was like no, I'm never doing anything in the waveform, and when I started to get familiarized with it, I was like, man, the waveform is that part of audition, it's where the magic happens. So I love this part, I'm going to work a lot in this class in the waveform, so just set it up like this, and trust me, it's amazing. The other part is the effects rack, if normally it's right here in the left part of your audition, if you cannot see it press in the audition the left bar, if you can not see, you can go to Window and click here in effect rack, and it will appear. Here are like five favorite all of the tools that audition give you are here. The effect rack is the most important one because here's where you're going to apply all the effects. You can click on the arrow and see all the effects that Audition have. You also have it in the multi-track. Basically this part, it's in both parts, and it depends on where you apply it, it gives you some options but we will see that further way. You're done. Do you really familiarize with this audition platform right now? In the next lesson we are going to give the first step to clear your audio to make it sound more neat, and to take down those high pitch sounds.
3. How to Remove Annoying Noises: Welcome. We are here in our second lesson and in this lesson, we are going to learn how to make the first step to clear our audio. Let's begin. Basically, we're here in the multi-track bar in left-view and we are going to work right now in the waveform. Let's just double-click in our Audio file. You need to make sure that these brackets here, right here, you see, like a little magnifying glass, are open all the way to your audio. You can see all your audio. Basically, this is all the length of your audio. Right now, you can see right here, in down, in all of these colorful things that I love, this ruler. This is where you see the hertz. You start from 500 till 18k hertz. We're going to do one thing is to take these really high pitch sounds that sometimes are the ones that were you put maybe your podcasts really loud and you don't notice, and you put your ear phones and it's like, "You're killing my years." It's those high-pitched volumes or where you have your volume really loud in your stereo and it starts to sound weird, and start to sound like [inaudible] in your ears, that's the sound we'll want to take away from our podcasts. We don't want that sound in our podcasts. That's what we're going to do right now, here in the waveform. Let's go ahead. I just want you to go ahead hearing the waveform. We're going to place ourselves in this ruler in the right side facing Audition right side. You see this ruler here, I want you to place yourself in 10k. Just move your cursor till you have this plus thing. I want you to "Click" and "Select." Keep clicking, call the click, select, let it go. I don't have my earphones. I have it right now. You should use it. I don't have it because I cannot record the volume with them, but you should be like this. Let's just hit "Space." If you hit space, you're going to hear only the part that you select. This is going to hurt. Can you hear it? It's horrible. That is the things that we're going to take away. With this, you can just play it to make sure that you have selected the right part, that you are not selecting maybe real voice, really tangible voice. You can use click delete in your keyboard. Breath with me, delete, there you go. You took that away. You can use click whenever to deselect and you hit "Control S" or "Common S" to save it. It's going to take awhile and it will save it. We took it away, so congratulations. Use Control S or Common S and you will save it. We made the first step to clear our audio. I will see you in the next lesson that's we're going to learn how to remove the annoying background noise. See you in a bit.
4. How to Remove the Background Noise: >Hello, we are in the most exciting lesson of audition. We're going to remove the background noise. You cannot imagine how of a game changer is this feature. Is going to be this feature in your podcast. I can guarantee you that it's going to make such a big difference. I'm super excited right now because you made it through this far and we're going to do the best part ever. I want you to be here in your audition. You remember this brackets here that you have the magnifying glass. Drag it all the way out. So you're just magnifying the first part of your Outlook file, Why the next part? Because normally when we are starting to talk, we take a break to breathe. So there is a little silence space or with white noise or the background noise only. If you haven't recorded your audio files and you're just doing it with the sample I'm giving to you one thing, one little weak thing, it's really important that at the beginning of your recording, you just leave a little space of silence. Okay, so let's go ahead and let's say I'm going to record right now. I'm just going to come in my mind. One. Hello guys. Okay, so I'm just leaving a little space so you can just remove your background noise better. Normally you always when you're making an interview or when you're recording your podcast audio, you leave a space somewhere because sometimes you make a mistake while you breathe, while you use way till the sound goes away or something, so you always have a room, I've work in all of the podcasts that I edited so far, I always find a room, even if they don't leave it at the beginning, I always find a room. You can drag this little bracket and find where, for example, here there is a room of white noise. You can just see here. Because this is like a lot of voice and then just nothing. You can just go ahead and look for it. For example, here I have another one that is pretty interesting. Maybe I'm just going to use this. Okay, so I just want you to click here at the beginning and click "Space" because I want you to listen to it. Let's listen. Yeah, that's actually not that great because there is a lot of sounds that sometimes can mess up with the voice. Let's go at the beginning. You think here it can be just a little part. Basically, what you're going to do is click up here in these yellow things. Sometimes it's blue. Seeing that I have a word cursor, like I'm going to type something and just click, hold the click, and move. Move it till here. Let's listen, if you play, if you hit space right now you're going to just listen what you select there in a loop. Yeah, this is great. These part is great. I don't know what it's looping. Right now I'm not hearing it in a loop. If it happens the same to you, basically just go down here right next to the record button. You see it's something that says loop playback. Just click on it. It must be blue to see if it's activated. Now it's looping. It's looping endlessly. Basically that's what you want. It it's the best thing to start. Yeah, this one is really, low, but it works right now you're going ahead and click "SHIFT + B" and it's going to hit you like a warning that says, "Capture noise print." You say, okay, because it's capturing, like it's taking a snapshot of that part of the sound okay, so it's just capturing it. Hit OK.. Now we're going to use "CONTROL+SHIFT+ P". It's going to appear this, that is called the effective noise reduction. This is where we take our background sound out. There's some few things that you want to do here. First of all, in a scale, you want to put logarithmic because it's just better for the noise reduction. Second of all, you just want to go ahead and do the noise reduction thing and the noise reduction scale that you see here of a percentage. You want to go ahead and go around 80. You don't want to go all the way to 100 percent because that will make your sound like a robot. Okay, it's going to sound really horrible. But you don't want to go too low because then maybe that background noise that is maybe the fan or the air conditioner or the heating system is not going to take out because that's a really low volume that is always there, always present. That is background noise that we want to take out. That is always there. It's really annoying sometimes. Go ahead and put it in A, this is not a set-up number, it's basically you need to try just go ahead and try and see test it out to see what works better for your audio. Normally for me it works good in 80. Sometimes I have to drag it out to 70 sometimes. It really depends on how low the background noise is or how high the background noise is. In reduced by, we want to go ahead and keep it between 60 and 70. We want to leave it, right in the middle 65. You want to first of all do one thing, use click check here out both nice and press "Space". You're going to hear the sound that you're taking away. Okay, so just deselect it and click select entire file. Why you want to first check the output noise or the noise that you're going to take out because we want to make sure there's no voice in there. Just deselected, select entire file and click "Apply". It's going to generate. Okay. We're done. Let's just hearing it. You see at the beginning I'm just going to select. We don't have that really loud noise and just want to go ahead to another part of that I know there is no too much sound, I think we could take more. Lets us do it again. Just going to select it here. I think this is a bigger print maybe it would make me like more happy. Again, shift B,okay, Control Shift P and I'm just going to drag it to 86 maybe reduced by; I'm just going to put it in 73. I will use here, select entire file and apply again. It's going to take awhile now more because we have more sound selected. Yeah, see right now I see a huge difference. Now I feel that I'm going to be happier if I go back to the beginning. See, you took a lot. Yeah, you cannot hear anything at the beginning now. That is amazing. You took the background noise away. Hey [inaudible] welcome to the tutor. There is a lot of work to do a still and that's the effects that we're going to apply in the next lessons. But right now you don't have any background noise, you don't have any of that, you don't have your heating or your fan or the air conditioner going on so that it's amazing. I hope you already started your project. I left you there a checklist so you can go ahead and go step by step if you maybe you get lost in something. Also I left you there. The sample file that I'm using from Chase your Fears podcasts. Just please give me a one screenshot of the song of your audio file before applying monotonic noise reduction and after you apply it. I want to see that difference because that just makes me happy. I hope you understand it, right and a hope you could follow me and please upload it there in your project file if you haven't started start it now. In the next lesson we're going to learn how to apply two effects, two main effects that I apply every time here in the waveform. I'll see you there.
5. Applying Effects in the Waveform: Welcome back. In this lesson, we're going to learn how to apply two main effects that I always apply to any podcast in the waveform. With these two effects, you're basically going to level up your voice. You're going to make it sound like it was recorded in a studio, and you are going to take away your echo. Maybe if you recorded in a big living room, or in a big space and you have a lot of echo, or in a little space maybe type of like, in your bathroom type of noise. You can just hear like the space going on. We're going to take out that echo, and that way it's going to just sound more professional, and of course more neat, enjoyable, and better. We're hearing the waveform of your audio file, and we're going to use the effects rack. It's right here, it's hidden here. If you cannot see it, just go to window, and click here in Effect Rack, it will just pop up, right in this space in the left side. I have to confess that I have a really hard time going to right and left, that's why I always point it out with one of my hands. In the left side, you have the effects rack, we are in the waveform. You want to first select a little part that you have voice, and that you have like these high peaks. Sometimes, it happens if you're a woman, and you're editing your podcast, or your editing a podcast that has a female voice there. The space that takes the wave, it's bigger. You have lesser space here. You have less of these sounds and more of these type of sounds, it's because we have a higher pitch, and for example here, the host is Latina, as I am, and we tend to speak really loud. That's why I have all of these. But if you have a man, normally men has like a lower pitch voice. I cannot do it, but they have a voice like a low pitch. You will have more of these type of sounds, like more narrow in space. But you want to select a piece that you have really up. Or if you're editing, a man voice are really low. You want to go to the extreme, you want to go really up, or really low, of course but you can still hear it. I'm just going to go ahead and select the first part. Let's just select this part here. I'm just going to click the space so we can hear it, hybrid sounds. We're going to just keep select that part, and here in the effects rack in the Number 1, keep hitting the arrow, and go to, let us play first one. Go to Filter and EQ, and select Parametric Equalizer. It's going to open this amazing thing, looks scary but it's not, it's amazing. In the range, be sure that you select 96 db, so it will apart way better. In all these numbers, so you have 1, 2, 3, 4 numbers. In the third number of all the rows, you're going to say 30. Why? I put 30 in the first one, because I'm going to just move these. See if I play the audio file, I have the audio file here, this is how it sounds. Here, I put it in 30, so we'll set how narrow this thing is. This one is in tune, and it's super big, so it takes all of the scale. But if I put it in 30, see that I only take a little part, and that's what you want. Basically, what you do in the parametric equalizer, is you take up or take down some parts of the audio. Basically, you just want to hit a harmony, where all the sounds are just equal to each other. You don't want something really high up that just go in high level. Maybe you listen to it and you sound maybe, ah, a scream and it's just really, really high up and you just want to kill the one that made that, because it's hurting your ears. Or maybe sometimes you have really low sounds, and you cannot hear anything that person says, and you're like trying to listen, what is she saying or what is he saying? In this moment, we just want to lower the ones that are really high, lower them, that is basically these mountain here you see. This is high, this is low, this is high, this is low. This is the normal like in the middle. This like the normal thing. If you have really low, low, low, low tracks, you just want to keep it up a little bit. That way, everything comes to a harmony and you can listen, and you can listen all of the peoples voices, you can listen everything without hurting your ears, without anything and you'll obviously love you. You have also some presets here, you can go ahead and try them. For example, heavy guitar or all time radio. Sounds like an old-time radio. I normally go for default and just go ahead and play with it a little bit because I feel it's better for me. You can put 75 or 30. Normally, I just put 30, I'm going to put 30, on all of them, because it just gives me less range to have, so I can hit that part, that exact part that is making me annoyed. I'm going to make that one 30. Make sure it's in 96. Normally, I hit here, HP and LP. It will just cut the extremes, the extreme down and extreme up, it will just cut it down. Let's just play it, I'm going to play it in a loop and do some things here and then I'm going to explain it to you. But normally, you see they are in numbers 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. You just want to play with 2, 3, and 4 normally. If you have a really high pitch like this here, you can go to five or you can go to one. But those are the extremes, normally you just play with 2, 3, and 4. Let's hear it and see what I do. See, you just want to go up, with one of the numbers go up, and hit that sound that it just makes you crazy. If you have headphones, you will hate me in this moment, but believe me it's worth it. That sounds like, what the is going on? That is the sound, just pause it, breath, play it again and we are just going to drop it down, exactly in that moment, drop it down. That annoying sound, we just want to just lower it, lower it, lower it so nobody will hear it. That sounds so much better. Now, let's do the same thing with the other two. That was stressful. Sometimes in these, you just need a glass of wine or a beer, or tea or coffee or whatever you enjoy the most and breath and do it. Oh, my God, the four one, it just hurt so much. But that sounds so much better now. I'm going to go ahead and play with one and five, because I feel it already has some noises there that I don't like. But it's just test and try, test and try, that's the best. I think that's all, let's hear it. I want you to hear it without the five and with the five. You can do that by clicking here in the green toggle thing. That's without, and that's with. Yeah, I can hear a difference, I'm just going to lower this down a little bit more, so it's easy, and I'm going to put these in 25 in the fourth, because I feel you just need it. Yeah, that is a difference, without, with. It so much smoother. It's like you put silk on it, and it's so much smoother the sound. This is why I do say that it's test and try, test and try, because you just need to find what suits you best for your voice. You can save it because if you are the only one talking all the time, you can save the preset so you can apply it every time to your voice, and that will save you time. You can save it here, right here in this little arrow with a box. Just click there and put your name or host name, and just save it, and you can just apply the same one. You will find that here, and you can supply the same one every time you talk. That will save you so much time. That is the parametric equalizer. Now we're going to do the dynamic processor. Basically, in the second one hit the arrow, go to amplitude and compression, and put dynamics processing. In this audio file, I'm not going to actually use it, I'm just going to show you how, because they right now don't have too much echo. But if you are recording in a place that you have a lot of echo, it's good to do it. I'm just going to play it. Basically, what you want is go ahead and in this ruler right here, identify the minus 10 and do a little key there. Just take it up, the upper key frame, and put it low to 5. Normally, that makes the trick, let's just hear it. Yeah, this is right here, this red thing is all the sounds that you're recording. I just want you here to mess up with this up part, never go down off tree, because it's not worth it. You're just going to cut too much sound, and then it's going to sound like [inaudible] and that is not something that you want. Just try it out and see if it works. Sometimes, this is just the, this is the only thing that you need here to cut that echo sound from your living room or bathroom or whenever you record. I'm just going to hit Okay. I just want to listen a little bit more to see how it sounds with the other parts. Here, I heard something. Yeah, you seeing here I heard something that [inaudible] a little part. So I'm going to take out the dynamic processing. You just can go here and click in the green thing, and that will just deactivate it or click on dynamic processing and erase it. But if it's not happening with you, that one is really good to have when you have a lot of echo. Right now I'm really happy. Yeah, I'm really happy with this, and I just go here in the effects rack, makes sure that has process entire file, and just hit Apply, and it just apply, you see it took some of the sound. There you go. You already applied your two effects. I'm really happy for you that you have a smoother sound right now. In the next lesson, we are going to go ahead and dig in, in the multi-track actually. We're going to change our side of the effects. Let's go ahead and control as safe, and I will see you in the next one.
6. Applying Effects in the Multitrack: Hello, welcome to our next lesson. In this one, we're going to dig in into the multi-track. Basically, I'm here in the waveform where I left you and let's go ahead here up in the left and hit multi-track. Yeah, and right here we're going to apply our effects. Let's just see, this is all our audio, and here in the effect rack, we need to apply one. It's really important. One thing that we are not applying it in the audio file itself, we are playing it in the submaster. First of all, we need to do one thing that I completely forgot at the beginning, but that's okay. We can do it right now. It's like all of them, music it's already directing, the arrow to the left is already directing to submaster, but we need to change all of them. Intro use changing key bus, submaster. Host, bus, submaster. Interview, bus, submaster. At bus, submaster. The submaster, leave it as it is, and master also as it is. Okay, we need to select the submaster. Here you see in the effects rack we see track equals submaster, and just click here in the arrow. Let's go ahead and find one that is called single-band compressing. Here it is, single-band compressor. This effect is really good. I love it for voices because you can select one of the default or one of the presets that they already have. I normally select vocal attacker, vocal booster, vocal leveler, anything of the vocal ones. I think for this one, voice leveler, vocal or voice, voice leveler will make the trick. Let's use here. Without. With. That sounds really good, no?. Maybe let's try over sometimes. Leveler, attacker. Attacker no, attacker no. Booster, no. I love leveler actually. My first intuition was right. You just select one and you can play the thing and try to go from one to another, and the one that sounds the better for you, that's the one that you should go with. I think I'm going to the leveler. If none of them works, you can work some things here, just select the one that you love the most and move, maybe the output gain. This will increase the volume or the ratio or the attack. Lets just try to move things if you don't find the one, let's just move a little bit things and see which one just fits you better but I think this one, it's amazing. The next thing is to apply one thing that a audition has, that is the match loudness. Basically, what we want to do is just make sure that your final podcast meets all their standards that all the podcasts interface has iTunes or Stitcher or Spotify. They have some numbers that you need to rank on it and maybe if you have denied to be on them before it's because of these, maybe your audio file it didn't match with the standards they have. So we just want to make sure that your audio files match there. So you just need to go ahead and go in window and click in match loudness. It will pop up here, and click in all of the audio files that you have. Right now we only have one, but normally you have three or four, at least. Just click in all of them and drag it down here. If you have another one, click in another one, drag it down, like that. So on until you drag all of them. You just want to go ahead and open this gate. Okay. This has some numbers, and in the checklist, I'm just going to leave you the exact numbers that do need, go ahead there and you just need to click, it's not these numbers. You just need to click run and it will match with those numbers, with those standards. Let's just listen. This sounds so much better than what we started with in the beginning. It was really little steps. So that's the way you do it. We're almost in the end. In the next lesson, you are going to learn how to export your audio file and you are going to be done and ready to enjoy your amazing podcast. Let's go to the last lesson and I am super happy to have you there. Don't forget your project. Start your project. Show me your screenshots. Show me how you're doing. Show me everything. Please, I want to see you. Let's see you in a bit.
7. How to Export Your Podcast Episode: Congratulations, you made it to the last lesson. One thing that I just want to make sure you know here, we are not going to dig in into how to cut it or paste it or just put together timeline of your podcast. We're just digging in into how to apply the effects that you need. In one of my next classes, I'm going to go ahead and explain to you how to work the multi-track in a longer version, how to cut everything, put it together, and all of my tips and tricks on how I do it and how I work in a flow that just go [inaudible]. But right now basically in this step is where you're done, you have everything cut, put together and you want to export it. We did already in the previous lesson, the last effect that I applied. That is the single band compressor to just level your voice and just make it sound even more professional than it was, and we apply also the much loudness with the numbers that I left you in the checklist, so you could make it just meet the standards that iTunes, Spotify, and all of the podcasts interfaces or places ask you to so you won't ever, ever get rejected from them. Right now we're just ready to export. You just want to go ahead and click "File", "Export", "Multitrack Mixdown", "Entire Session". Here, you can just want to apply some things, so basically just "Browse" first to put it right in the folder we created with the edited file. I have it here in Documents, SkillShare Podcast, Edited files, Episode 1. I want it here and I'm going to name it Episode 1. Just hit "Save". The name it's okay. In the format, what I recommend you is to save it in Mp3. I know it's a low quality kind of theme for audio. It's not the best quality, but if you are going to embed your podcast in your website, which I recommend a lot because it increase your traffic and it increase your range of people that you will spread your message to. It's better to have it in Mp3 so your website, it's still SEO friendly and it's still mobile-friendly, and it's still loading really fast. If you put it maybe in AIV, that it's a really high-quality sound format or WAV that is high, high-quality sound format, maybe it will take longer time, but let's go right now. "Mp3". "Sample Type" "Same as Source", "New Sample Type", it will just match the one on your source, and everything else it's okay. "Include markers and other metadata." I go ahead and say, "Yes". "Open files after Export". Yes, why not? And just hit "Okay". It's exporting right now, and it's done. It's probably opening somewhere. This you see in the folder how it is. Yeah, right now I have Episode 1 and if I click, it's so much better than what we had, and of course, in this one, I am not mixing and I'm not putting music or the outro or intro. I'm just working this sample, but when you are done with putting all the music and mixing it all together, it's going to sound really, really good.
