1. Welcome to the course: Are you a college student or a university student or a content writer? We struggling with writing your unique content. Don't worry. We've got you covered. In this course. If you employ these unique techniques and paraphrasing techniques that we are going to share with you will gain a significant improvement in variety. Please download the class project and submit your responses as a screenshot. After watching this class. See you in class. 2. what is paraphrasing: Paraphrasing and tails C, using or putting a sentence, it can be a paragraph or a wired into our own words. So you get a saw somewhere. Then you read and understand it. Then you put in your own words a good paraphrase. Should, they should contain the author's key terms. Then you should use many of your own what a paraphrase is said to be good when the sentence structure is also changed. So it is very important to remember that when paraphrasing, you should also cite the ones US, but the original idea is not us. So we have to cite, say to your original authors. 3. steps in paraphrasing: There are several steps that are involved in a good paraphrase. When paraphrasing, the first thing you should do is you read the original source several times. After you have read the original source several times, say I'll read it four times, and then you have understood what it's saying. Then you have to find the main point in that sentence. When you found the main point in that sentence, then you should put the source away, put all the reading material away, and write what we have understood of the source or the original article or the radiant eternal sentence. Let's look at this example that your assignment when you read about these saltwater Bailey's is saying about the progress of privatization by the government. The main point in these sentences, the progress and privatization program, though, that the main point that we should look at, and we should put these in our own words so that we can avoid plagiarism. And we said that a good paraphrase should love excitation. Look at this example. This is a citation according to Bailey's into the van. And three, this is a citation. So when we have to paraphrase something first off, you'll understand it. The second. You should find the main point in that sentence or that article or that paragraph. After finding the main point, you have to put all the original content away. Then you should think and put the material that you have read in your own ones. And that is what is called a paraphrase. 4. use contextual synonyms: Paraphrasing techniques. Paraphrasing techniques, they'll pass in changing the structure of sentences. The changing the words and vocabulary that have been used in the original article or the genome. So there are several techniques that are employed to check the paraphrase sentences or paragraphs to make them different from the others and make them our own. The first one that we're going to look at is the use of synonyms. Synonyms. These are the words that mean the same. For example, when we look at the word Mei, Mei, it is the same as likely. And in the 19th century the same way as 1820th century is the same as 99. Whoops. To illustrate is the same way as to explain, to emphasize. To clarify that many examples of synonyms. I know you understand what the synonyms are and how to use them. The one thing that you should be careful when using synonyms. Synonyms are used depending on the context. Don't use synonym any early because you might use a particular synonym that you will be out of context. So you should be careful when checking these when we're paraphrasing. And synonyms are a great way to check. To paraphrase your way, but you should not use even a lot of synonyms. Synonyms shouldn't be used to carefully, because if you change everything by synonym, then it will not be paraphrasing. A lot of online programs are using plagiarism tool or using synonyms. So when you read material, refine them to be a lot like robotic. They're not. Good example of a paraphrase. What synonyms should be used carefully. 5. changing percentages and numbers: Another way to, another technique of paraphrasing is when you are using numbers and percentages, we should be able to use different forms. This is original source, said ten per cent are paraphrased. Form should really say. For example, I tend. What about when phase 75 per cent when the regional services and 75 per cent liberal to say maybe three-quarters on when it says 20 per cent, he'd be able to say a fift. What about Wednesdays? Twenty-five percent. That is a quarter. What about say 50 per cent? The regional sources, 50 per cent. If you can be able to change it, then you shouldn't say t half. We can also use opposites when we're paraphrasing and when you're, when you're using opposite, you should also change the, you should also be able to change the structure of that sentence. For example, it says 90% of deaths are due to malaria. We can be able to change, say, only ten per cent. The survival rate for malaria is ten per cent. About a t, Then we should say that is 20 per cent or a fift at about 50%, that is half. So it should be keen when looking at this. And you shouldn't be able to find the material that has these from online sources. 6. changing form of sentence passive to active and vice versa: Changing the form of a sentence is another way of paraphrasing. For example, it can change an active form to passive form. Most of academic writing or scientific writing, they use a lot of passive writing because most of the time they don't want to be known. And maybe the other is redundant and it should be concealed. And maybe when introducing a new information, that is when also we need to write the sentence in passive form. And also when we need to provide a scientific voice. Passive sentences are good in doing that. For example, look at this sentence provided here. This is Angie, I don't know. Coating to report into the van and one that says that malaria kills more than 1 million people annually. And when, when to paraphrase this sentence, look at these paraphrase. It says that every year more than a million people are killed by malaria. And if we hide these, so if you ate the citation, this sentence clearly it's passive because we don't know the author. 7. use different attribution signals: Another way of avoiding plagiarism width by use of different attributions signals. These are attributions signals, these are indicators are leading phrases that they indicate an idea or a piece of writing is not the other original idea, but someone sales, for example, when I'm writing about what John Smith argued. So you see this word has argued, this is an attribution signal. Okay? This one in contrast to meet Jonas maintain, these are retribution signals. According to these are example of attribution signals. And a lot of these attributions signals can be found at this website. This website, the WWF face bank dot Manchester ended ac dot UK. You'll be able to find a lot of these signals. They're able to do a good work to cure rate and store large chunks of these attributions signals. So find your time to visit this website. You will find a lot of material pertaining to attribution signal lambda, other ways of introducing maybe your sentences or joining or linking together two sentences. Please find your time and visit that website. 8. Using different definition structures: Another way of avoiding plagiarism or using paraphrasing technique is to use a different definition structures. If you have read or not of books, you may be able to find that a lot of material that is presented as a lot of definition. And if you read several books, for example, when you read several books, you will find different definition of the same thing. For example, it has a luca, this one, these are the ones that I've searched online, for example, the definition of DNA. So when you look at this website, may disappear. As has been able to define the genetic material, DNA, their editorial material in humans and other organisms are made of DNA. When you look at the Google, direct this article from Google using biochemistry language, that it is a self-replicating material present in nearly all living organisms at the main constraint of chromosome and it is the carrier of genetic information. Look at that and another definition from the dictionary.com or define the DNA they showed For the occipital bone nucleic acid, and the nucleic acid that is the genetic material that is found in all living cells and many viruses. According to this website DNA molecule inside the cells that contain the genetic information responsible for the development and function of organism. And all these been able to be defined differently because the Albers, so these have been able to read and understand the originals may be sauce. To understand what is DNA. That is when we are able to get the different definition. So different definition are things can also help us in avoiding plagiarism. And they are very essential in paraphrasing. He'll be able to find some definition terms or some ones that have a different definition. You can also change that definition for another definition. And by doing so, you'll be able to avoid plagiarism. 9. Changing grammar of text : Another technique that is used in paraphrasing is the changing of grammar of the text. By changing the grandma will be able to also to paraphrase and out we can Grandma. One of the ways is to change nouns to verbs, and this is called nominalization. Nominalization. Nominalization can be achieved by adding suffix two verbs. These statistics include meant, ion, and it is see, this suffix is added to the root of DevOps, convert them into knowns. For example, this verb to judge can be converted to a known by, by adding meant to be judgment. What about consider? These one shouldn't be consideration. What about this tab? This one should be disturbance. Another way also to change the Grammys. The other verbs to adjectives. So we can convert an adjective or an adverb by adding a lie. For example, these addictive, quick. When converted to, which should be quickly. What about care for this one shouldn't be carefully. What about the beautiful? This one will convert it to an analytic date. One shouldn't be beautiful or not, that double L is added to these ones. We can also change the original source Bye, changing the grandma, the text and look at these examples. For example, to analyze this, we can get analysis and analyzing is nouns. To create. This is a verb, can get creation, create, creating. And to assume, we can get an assumption. Assuming, assumed. There are many ways to convert vibes to Adjective, Adjective, two verbs, nouns to verbs, and vice versa. 10. Use of opposites: Another technique of paraphrasing is by use of opposites. For example, look at this sentence. These, but the pre-visit Dan was met with a little success. An opposite of literals x is a literal success is challenging. When success is literally, see, we have a lot of challenges. So when we prefer this way, it is the previsit and count how many challenges. Look at this example. The progress is slower than was expected. When paraphrase, the progress has not been as rapid as expected. So this lower than the opposite of slower than is not as rapid as expected. And by doing this, we see these sentences been able to be paraphrased by guest using and considering the opposite. Opposite are a good way to avoid plagiarism one also to paraphrase sentences. 11. Changing sentence structure: Another technique of paraphrasing is by changing the structure of the sentence. And this one, even though it's the last one, is the main point of paraphrasing. If you don't change the structure of the sentence most of the time you, your article or you are writing, seems to be exactly the same. Write that one over there. And that is what most of this painting tools or those plugging tunes we are using, they're doing most of them that changing the, they're using synonyms, using opposites, Bernard, They're not changing the structure of the sentence. This should be a priority when you want to change and converting sentence or our original source into your own. And what you should do, you should be able to understand the meaning and should also be, you have read this so several times and you understand the sentence structure and the meaning, and you have also been able to pick the closest and those phrases, well, you have done so. That is when you'll be able to change the sentence structure. And there is an important material I've put here sentences very clear when the subject of the sentence is performing the action of the verb ideas when written, they are easier to follow in the sentences. Begin with the information that appeared in the previous sentence. When you are looking, for example, at ASOS, which will then connect the order information with the new information. So when you are looking at a paper, it's usually divided into two parts. The first part, which is the old part. So the last part, which is the new part. Most article written this way. So when, when to paraphrase, you begin with this new information. After using these new information, then you, you link with the old one. Look at this example of spectroscopy. It says of the spectroscopic methods discussed here. N, n m is the most recently developed technique. When you're paraphrased, look at this example according to Thomas in 1991, M and M are a more recently developed technique of spectroscopic methods discussed here. You see he has been able to look to link this new information, which is NMR technique with these old information of spectroscopy. So most of the articles when scientific articles that you find or scientific information is written like this, they usually linked, they usually put the old information before the new information. So when you want to change them, should be able to do the exact opposite. You get the new information fast. Then you link with the old information when you're done. So that will be good in also in assisting in changing the sentence structure. So there is also another way of killing the sentence structure, that is by dividing the sentences into shorter ones and linking them using different linking devices and grammar and punctuation. And when you have done so, you'll be able to change the source of the original source into your prep first version. So when you visit this website, it is called the meat crayons dot com blog ten ways to switch up to you up your sentences. Just type. Ten ways to switch up your sentences should be able to direct you to this website. You'll be able to find those ten ways. And what you should get from this video is that we are pulled to change most of the sentence structure by using the new information, then linking the old information, not the way scientific article written by linking the new information to the old one shouldn't be doing exactly the opposite. By doing that way, you'll be able to change the sentence structure. 12. Summary : So in summary, the objective of paraphrasing is to represent the angle of vision. I'm not provide an analysis or a discussion. So we should avoid these substituting words than using synonyms they now live. So we should avoid synonyms, NAFLD. And another thing that we should embrace is we should change the sentence structure. When they sentence structure has not changed. Your centers will most likely to be the same as that one over the original order. That is, what a lot of spinning tools and paraphrasing tools that we're using. And I think it's great. So we should focus in changing the sentence structure and using synonyms as little as possible. And the end result of your paraphrase to work should capture the main points. Should copy the main points, and they should also remain your own words while capturing the main points. Thank you.
