About This Class

Hello and welcome to “3 Minute French - Course 11” The aim of this course is to make French accessible to anybody regardless of age, educational background or "aptitude" for learning. This course leads on from "3 Minute French – Courses 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10" and new language structures are introduced to enable you to communicate in more situations when on holiday abroad.

My method for teaching French is simple but effective. It works for anybody, no matter what your requirements. I have been teaching foreign languages for over ten years and I’ve taught a wide range of students of all ages and backgrounds, including students with learning difficulties, so I know my method is accessible to absolutely anyone, with no exception.

With this course, it’s almost as if you have your very own language tutor at your beck and call. Take it with you wherever you are and have a quick listen to one of the lessons whenever you find yourself with three minutes to spare. You will be amazed at how much your language skills will develop after just a few minutes a day of study. You will start to learn the French language in a simple, logical and fun way.

You will learn a variety of words that you will learn to put together to form sentences that will be useful in any visit to France or any other French speaking country, and you'll learn how to put the words together to form sentences, saying exactly what you want.

PROGRESS TO THE NEXT COURSE

Once you have completed this course, if you would like to learn more French using the same method, you can wait for course 12 (coming soon!) or find my other French courses. Here are the links:

Additionally, I have a series of French courses called “Building Structures”. These courses use the same method found in the 3 Minute French courses, but they focus on building fluency by looking at the different structures of the French language. I recommend starting these courses once you’ve completed up to 3 Minute French – Course 3, and then you can work through both series simultaneously. Here are the links for the Building Structures in French courses on SkillShare:

Building Structures in French – Structure 2

Building Structures in French – Structure 3

Building Structures in French – Structure 4

Finally, if you want to explore the French language even further, I have some French grammar courses available. I’ve used the same method in these courses as I have in the other courses, so hopefully you’ll find them fun and interesting

If you would like to learn a different language, I have the same courses above available in Spanish, German, Italian, Portuguese and Dutch. Just head to my SkillShare profile page to find them all: https://www.skillshare.com/user/3minutelanguages

1. Introduction to course 11: Module ABM venue. Hello and welcome to three minute french course 11. In this course, we're going to be working through lessons 90 to 98 of the three-minute French theories. As always, we have plenty of new vocabulary plus plenty of new grammar features that will enable you to say even more in French. They will also be ample opportunity to practice everything you've been learning, as well as everything you learned in the previous courses. I hope you've enjoyed this 11th course in the series. And just like before, the layout and the method are the same. The trick is to learn little and often on a regular schedule that you maintain enthusiasm and gets into a good habit with learning French. That way you'll find everything goes in and stays put. 2. 90a - je voulais: Let's start this lesson with a quick recap of the words and phrases that we learned last lesson. How do you say in French to here? I could or I was able. You code or you're able in the singular informal movie. He could He was able. She code or she was able. We could, or we were able. You could, or you are able in the singular, formal or plural verb Bouvier. And they could, or they were able. Movie. You know that the imperfect tense is past tense that the infinitive carriers use rather than the other past tense that we've learned so far. We looked at the verb, which was jelly to LA, LA, LA, LA, LA, news and young buddha. And easily in the imperfect tense and the endings were AIS, AIS, AIT, AIT, ins, i, e, e, and t. You can use these endings with any infinitive carrier to talk about the past. If you get a verb in the imperfect tense, you should be able to conjugate it into the other person's just by removing the ending that's on it already and adding the appropriate ending. Let's conjugate the verb, meaning to want into the imperfect tense. Bullae means I wanted. How would you say in French? I wanted to see you. You've related to x2 labeled labeled why? I wanted to buy it for Marie. 3. 90b - "vouloir" in the imperfect tense: How do you say in French I wanted Let's try and conjugate it into the different persons. How would you say in French you wanted to bullae or how would you say he wanted? We've taken the AIS off the end of the verb for Zhu of relay and added an AIT instead for he wanted. How would you say she wanted? We wanted new boolean, new volume. They wanted. Here's the full conjugation of the verb. In the imperfect tense. Bullae means I wanted to lay. You wanted he wanted she wanted new Julio. We wanted you wanted. And easily. They wanted. You can use all the different conjugations of voir as infinitive carriers. But obviously in questions you'll have to invert it first. How would you say I wanted to stay here? Stacy. Stacy. Did you want to eat something? Mosaic ICO shows shows over the mortgagor shoulders. Voodoo, magic shows. Where do they want to go? Oval it easily. It easily. 4. 90c - dire: How would you say in French? She wanted to talk with Michelle. Relate ballet avec Michelle. Michelle. In this lesson so far we've had Jubilee, meaning I wanted you wanted he wanted she wanted new volume. We wanted you wanted and the way they wanted. Now here's a useful verb in French. It means to say or to tell. The past participle of D. Is D spelled D. For example, JD is I said, How would you say in French, what were you going to save? Or Kelly? Kelly Wood year. Why can't you tell me? What did you want to tell me? Covalent humidity. Humidity or a woman, the woman I wanted to tell you, you have related to Buddhism. I said that the past participle of D is D is about DIT. How would you say in French, what did they say? Continue. Continue. D. 5. 90d - dire à Pierre: How would you say in French? Do you need to say something? Attributes one of the decade to shows? Or Abby boo-boos wondered. Who said that? I didn't understand what you said. You shouldn't compound paths. Could you add the component basket you at the gym compound paths that Google's IVD. Compound paths, Google's IVD. Did you hear what I said? At you entendre security AD at you want undoes, PGD or Aviv who aren't conducive to JD wasn't undoes PGD. If you wanted to add a name onto the end of any form of deer, for example, I'm going to tell Pierre, you have to use the word in front of the name. This is because in French, you have to say something to somebody. And the French word for to, in this sense is in English. You can sometimes avoid using too by using the word tale rather than say. For example, I'm saying something to Pierre where we can say I'm telling PMS something. We can avoid the word to by using tail instead I'm saying it's something to Pierre, or I'm telling PMS something. But in French, the word dia always uses are in front of a name. For example, if you wanted to say, I need to tell Murray, you say J Bu Suan, DO, DO DO, DO. Literally I need to tell to Marie. I wanted to tell Pierre Pierre de appear. So literally I wanted to tell you always have to put the word in front of a name when you're telling something to somebody in French. 6. 90e - dit à Pierre: How would you say in French, what did you tell Pierre de IPS? Gavi Wudi IPF copied hold it up. Yeah. I told Maria yesterday. I didn't tell Michelle because he was busy. You need buddy, I'm Michelle or QP. By data machine postulated occupy. Who told Sophie? I wanted you wanted in the singular in formal. He wanted she wanted we wanted new volume. You wanted in the singular, formal or the plural? They wanted to say or to tell d, to tell Murray. Mary. I had to. Do v. You had to in the singular informal. Today. He had to do. She had to. We had to. You had to the singular formal or the plural? Voodoo VA. They had to do vein. Here's a useful word. If you're planning on driving in fronts. Got a guy. It means to pop guy. The verb means to park in the sense of parking or vehicle. There's a little difference between the French and English way of using it though. In English, it's perfectly fine to say both of these sentences. Can I park the car here? Can I park here? But in French, you can't say the second one. This is because the verb guy is classed as a transitive verb. What that means is that it always has to have an object after it. In English, the verb Tupac can be transitive or intransitive, meaning you can use it with an object or without an object. Let's look at some examples in English. I've parked the car there. I've parked the car there. This sentence is using the verb transitively because you've used an object after it, the car, the car is the object. I've parked the car there In this sentence, the verb parked is a transitive verb. I've caught there. I've parked there. This sentence uses the verb in transitively because you haven't used an object. I've parked there. There's no object in that sentence. In French, you can't do that. The verb always has to have an object. This sentence is perfectly fine. You got a lava gRPC level at UIC. Can I park the car here? This sentence, the call or lava, is the object of the verb got a. However, if you want to say, can I park here? What you actually have the same French is, can I park myself here? The word myself becomes the object. You would say Gath AEC, please, you, Mugabe, you see The myself goes in front of the verb Galle ISI. You always use this if you want to use the verb gap in transitively rather than with an object. Mugabe ISI means can I park here? Literally, can I park myself here? Miguel? Miguel means where can I park? Literally? Where can I park myself? How would you say in French? Can I park here? Aac, Mugabe, AEC. How would you say can I park the car here? Got a level at gRPC, please? You get a laugh at you. I see. You only need the, if you're using the verb guy in transitively without an object. 16. 91b - me garer: How would you say in French, where can I park? Mugabe? Was your mortgage. We've had the verb, which means to park if you're using it with an object. And then merch guy means Tupac. When you're not using an object, literally it means to poke myself. How would you say in French, where do I have to park? Azure ML gallery, Mugabe. Where do I have to park the car? Food wise, you're gay, love what you do as you get hela, what? The verb got aim is regular in its conjugation. So how would you say, I parked the car in front of the hotel. Giga, hey, LavAzza, the load Dale, giga, hela watches the one load tail. Pierre parked the car over there. I got hela about your lava. Lava. Lava. Where did they park the books? Until GEF and abuse. Abuse. Now, the word means myself. Obviously you can only use when the subject of the sentence is Azure or AI. But what about if you want to say, where are you parking or he is parking here, what do you have to change the mode to something else? Got a is Tupac merch guy is two-part myself. To get a, get a means to park yourself in the singular informal to Gallery. Sir Guy. Guy can be used to mean two-part himself. To get a can also mean Tupac herself. And Sergei can also mean Tupac oneself. Suit guy means to call it himself or herself or oneself. Knew Gary. New guy means to park ourselves. Google. Google means Tupac yourself or yourselves. If it's plural, you'll notice how the words new and vu can mean we and you, but also our selves and yourself for yourselves. Then certain guy, again can be used to mean two-part themselves. So Sir Guy can be used to mean quite a few things. If you want to use the verb Galle in transitively, that means without an object, then you have to use one of these little words to certain nu over. Just in case you were wondering that it'll words to new and VPU called reflexive pronouns. And we will be learning a lot more about them in a later lesson. 17. 91c - "garer" in the present tense: We've just had a look at the reflexive pronouns that you can use with the verb Galle, Mugabe, to Guy, Sugata, a new guy. And Mugabe are the different options. Well, if you conjugate the verb guy in the present tense, you need to use those reflexive pronouns. If you are talking about just parking without an object. But if you're using an object such as Lev Y2, then you don't need to use the reflexive pronoun. Let's have a look at Guy in the present tense. Means I park or I'm parking. Gap to gap. Tupac or your parking either gonna keep hawks or he's parking edit gap. She parks or she is parking on Gas. Gas. One POX or one is parking. New gown. New gown. We park. Or where parking. You park or your parking and ill gas, even gaffe. They park or their parking. That's the present tense with the verb guy. But if you want to use it in transitively without an object, you simply have to insert the reflexive pronoun after the subject pronoun before the verb. Gmo. Gmo gap means I park or I'm parking myself. To to gap. To gap. You park or your parking yourself? Ear. So he parks or literally he's parking himself. She parks or she's parking herself. One parks or one is parking oneself. New, new new, new gown. We park, or where parking ourselves, it sounds silly to repeat the word new, but that's how you say it in French. New, new gown. The first new means we, the second new means ourselves, new, new town. And it's the same with vu game, Vogue on a IUPAC or your parking yourself. We'll parking yourselves. Then is to gap. Is the gap they pop or their parking themselves. How would you say in French, Where are you parking the car? Gf two, lambda two. You got to love what? You all got. A lava tube or gathering will laugh at you. 18. 91d - practice with "garer": How would you say in French, can we prove a new guy, EC prover, new Nougat, AAC. He's parking next to the restaurant. Gonna do as the home. I quoted you can one part here. But also get AAC. But don't get AEC. Excuse me. Can I park here? Excuse me, please. Your mortgage AAC. Excuse him. What you see? Where are you going to park the car? To get into what you do to get a lab, what you got hela, what you got hela about you. Where are you going to park? By two to get you to Guy? All Alivio Vergara, who will evolve. We've got a, we've had the verb gada, means to park plus an object, so depart the car or to part of the mug at a means to part as inner part myself. To get a two park as in two-part yourself. Sugata can mean to park himself, to park herself, two-part oneself or two-part themselves. Nougat a two-part ourselves. And vu guy, meaning to park yourself or to park yourselves. 19. 91e - quelque part: Here's a useful term in French. It means somewhere. How would you say in French, can I park somewhere here? Good, good path. You see omega a gigabyte DC. There is somewhere way out here. Good Back to put together a EC. Back to, to put together AAC will prove a Buddha, a capacitor, UGA AAC. He can park the car somewhere near the restaurant. Good, good, bad, paid us a halo, but you can do. Here is somewhere in front. Go back. Go back down. Can I wait for you somewhere? I can't go back somewhere with Marie. Any capable of ECMO? Go back to Vic Murray. 20. 91f - quelqu'un: In this lesson so far we've had Guy, which means Tupac. When you're using an object. Mugabe means just Tupac as in literally two-part myself. To get, to poke yourself. Sugata, a two-part himself or herself. One self or themselves. Knew Gary means to park ourselves. Vulgar. Tupac yourself or yourselves means somewhere. Now you'll often see the word Gallagher, q0, L Q0 used in front of phrases in French. It means some. We've had killed capacity, meaning somewhere. It doesn't literally mean somewhere, it literally means some part. Then this next word is made up of character and the word KDKA means sum, means one. So KDKA means someone. Shortens by removing the E from the end. I'm putting an apostrophe in front of words that start with a vowel. So gate down means someone or somebody. So how would you say in French? I told somebody yesterday. Did you see somebody at the hotel? Uk? Uk can't get down. I looked in UK. Is there somebody here who speaks English? Keep out only count ECG pal only. Somebody has taken my key. Pretty mapply. Mapply. 21. 91g - somebody & someone: How would you say in French, Marie said that somebody wanted to talk with me. Maggie, I could get calculate Palaeozoic. Ma Maria de could get down with a Palaeozoic more. We've had in this lesson gave meaning to park Mugabe. Two-part myself. To gather tupac yourself. Still Galli means to park himself herself, oneself or themselves. New Garay means to put ourselves, to park yourself or to pop yourselves. Get goodbye, means somewhere. And get gun means someone or somebody. The word Canada, which means somebody or someone in French, always takes the same conjugation as the third-person singular. This means that you give it the same verbs or verb endings as you would give to that he and she conjugations. For example, either overlay, overlay means he wanted and the L means she wanted. Telecom, bullae, kill count relay means somebody wanted, you use the same endings for he and she's the AIT. Somebody wanted. How would you say in French? Somebody fantasies and ice cream. Got glass on V doing glass. Somebody has parked a car here. I got I got eight you in what you see? Somebody can part there. Boosted gap, ala Ala. 22. 91h - anybody & anyone: How would you say in French, I need somebody who's located. If you're asking a question with Kate gone as the subjective in French, then you should treat this in the same way as you treat a name. You always use the masculine ear unless there's no way that somebody could be masking in. So if you wanted to say something like, Can somebody help me, you would literally say somebody, can you help me? Just like if you were to say, can Pierre helped me, you would say PA can he helped me? How would you say Can somebody help me? Competent name? Excuse me. Can somebody help me with this problem? Excuse him. Killed competent mediatic sub-problem. Excuse me. Put in mediatic sub-problem. Just somebody speak English here. K compact till only see. In English, we very often use the word anybody in questions rather than somebody. For example, Can anybody hear me? Or does anybody speak French here? Will anybody help me? However, in French, the words somebody and anybody can both be translated as, you can say. T long laid, get compiled, T long lean. Mean does anybody speak English? We've had in this lesson gave meaning to park. To park myself, to get a Tupac yourself. Sou guy, two-part himself, herself, oneself or themselves. Mugabe. How do you say in French, Tupac Galle, to poke myself. Mugabe. Tupac yourself in the singular informal guy. Tupac himself, herself, oneself or themselves. To park ourselves. New GAVI. Tupac yourself or yourselves. Vu guy, somewhere. Good bath. Someone or somebody, anyone or anybody. Get down. Sometimes. Garish. Safe place. On the west you. Now, your first word for this lesson is another verb in the imperfect tense. Here's the web stuff. In the imperfect tense, you're savvy. It means I knew, as you said, the How would you say in French? I didn't know. Judas. I've EPA. Epa. Yes, I'm you just have a savvy. I didn't know if it was possible. Savvy Pat CCT post-Ebola, CCT placebo. Not at. See if you can use the imperfect tense endings to try and conjugate. Just savvy into all the different persons. How would you say in French you knew to seven? To seven or he knew. She knew savvy. Savvy. We nu nu nu sub room. And they knew savvy. Savvy. 32. 92b - "savoir" in the imperfect tense: So here's the conjugation of savoir in the imperfect tense. Just savvy means I knew to seven means you knew. He knew. She knew on Savvy. One new new set young. We knew. You knew is savvy venue. Now, Savoir can be used as an infinitive carrier by itself. And you can put verbs on the end of it is to say what it is, you know, how to do, but you can also use it in a different way. There are two words that you can add in front of the infinitive after just savvy. The words are meaning where, qua, meaning what. After, just have a or any form of savoir. You can put O and then an infinitive or quad and an infinitive. Let me give you some examples of what I mean. Savvy. Savvy Pozzuoli. I didn't know where to go. You shouldn't savvy path. June savvy Pat emoji. Emoji. I didn't know where to eat. You can put quiet in front of the infinitive. Juno, say backoff, fair? You shouldn't say backwater, fair? I don't know what to do. You shouldn't say backward, fair? How would you say in French, do you know where to go? Say to Wally? Stayed to Wiley or savvy vu while Sabi basale. Did you know what to do? 72. Coffee here. 72. Quite fair. Fair? Fair. We didn't know where to park. Newness. Newness heavy on Basu Mugabe. He didn't know what to do. Savvy. Savvy. Pacquiao, fair. 33. 92c - que, ce que & quoi: How would you say in French? I didn't know what to say to Pierre. Junior savvy. Savvy backward. Do they know where to park? Staff? T is Lucy guy. I don't know what to buy for Marie. Say staple, Mary Junior, say backwash staple Marie. Do you know where to hire a bike? C2. C2. Savvy boo boo. She doesn't know what to do. Say back quite fair. Say backward, fair. We've learned a few different ways to say what. Now in French, we've got which is what, when it's used at the beginning of a question. Or school? Which is what? When it's used in a non question, usually in the middle of a sentence. And now we have quad, which is used in front of an infinitive. Now it's not too difficult to remember the difference between the three ways to say what, but don't panic if you do mix them up now and again, they all have the same basic meaning. You will still get your point across. You're just sound a little bit strange. At the beginning of a question. In the middle of a sentence or a non question, and quiet in front of an infinitive. 34. 92d - ways to say "what": How do you say in French, what do you want? Woolly vu, Khufu, evil. I don't know what he wants you to say. Just say pass giver. I didn't know what to do. Say Pacquiao, fair? Say backward, fair. What he wants is a bigger car. And doing what your sticky in what year? Did you hear what she said? You want to undo, get ID KID or ambivalent on do scalar D. Moves on Tom, do so, get ready. I don't know what to say. Say quite the same idea. What did they do? Continue. Continue. 35. 92e - to know how: I said that you can put any infinitive on the end of savoir, mean to know how to do something. However, occasionally, you can add the word como to mean how in that situation. Generally if you're talking about how to do something that is a learned skill, you don't need to use common. For example, you say conjugate. Just take Andrea. I know how to drive. So you have to learn to drive. And so you can just say, just say when it's a learned skill, you can just use the infinitive. Just say Lear. You say it here. I know how to read. Did you say again, you have to learn to read. Did you say Lear? You say Montana show value. You just say Monday, Asher Val. I know how to ride horses. This is another scale. If it's a skill, you don't need to use the word for how you just use savoir in this situation, just say and then the infinitive, just say MSA, actual value. I know how to ride horses. However, if you're not really talking about a scale specifically, you can use common. For example, say, come on the air, sound fancy. Gina, say back home on the a sound fancy. I don't know how to say that in French. You're not speaking about a specific skill. It's just something you know how to do. We don't have to do. You just say back home on the a sound fancy. Gsa Como. Se Como only fair. I know how to do it. You say low fare. Worry if you don't use common when you need to or if you do use it when it's not needed, you'll still be understood. In this lesson, we've had Savoir, meaning to know, and then we learned it in the imperfect tense and we got juice savvy. I knew too savvy. You knew? Savvy? He knew. She knew. Knew. We knew. You knew is survey. They knew. Which means what in a question. Which means what in a non question. And quad means what in front of an infinitive. 36. 92f - let's practise - English to French: It's time now to practice what we've been learning in this lesson. How do you say in French? You've been learning French for five years now. 40. 93a - reflexive verbs: Let's start this lesson with a quick recap of the words and phrases that we learned in the last lesson. How do you say in French to know? I knew. You knew he knew. She knew. Warn you. On survey. We knew new stadium. You knew boost that. They knew. How do you say What in a question? What in a non question? What in front of an infinitive? In this lesson, we're going to learn a little more grammar. We're going to learn about reflexive verbs. Remember when we learned the verb, guy and I said that if you want to use it by itself, you have to add a little extra weird called a reflexive pronoun. We had Germer gap is the gap. He parks. Vaux knew new gown. We park. Vu Garay. You park. And they park. Well, this sort of verb actually has a special name. It's called a reflexive verb. Reflexive verbs are verbs that represent an action that you're doing to yourself. Have a look at this phrase, japan, Marie. Japan, Marie. It means I'm calling Marie. Japan comes from the verb, which means to call. When you conjugate it normally it just means I'm calling. You can say things like Jeff Bailey. I'm calling Marie, JPL Pierre. I'm calling PA Japan and mathy APA. I'm calling Marie and Pierre. However, if you change Japan, to zoom out, so you put a little in front of the apple, now changes its meaning to, I'm cold. Literally it means I call myself. The verb is now reflexive as you're calling yourself something. For example, GMR, Bill Murray, Zuma bell, mathy. It means I'm called Murray Jima bell Pierre, GMAP bell Pierre. I'm called Pierre. You can conjugate a reflexive verb in the same way that you would conjugate a normal verb. The only difference is that you have to put something called a reflexive pronoun in front of the verb. We saw this when we were talking about the verb, meaning to park. You can tell the infinitive of a reflexive verb because it has a little Sir, ESI. Or sometimes it's contracted to S apostrophe in front of valves. And that means one self app really means to call. And it's reflexive form separately means to be called literally to call oneself. Similarly, gap means to park and you have to put an object on the end of that. Third guy means to park oneself. 41. 93b - s'appeler: Here is the conjugation of the verbs. In the present tense. Sap relate means to be called. Jamal. Jamal is I'm called to tap to tap bail. Your cold. Pale. He's called sub l is a Bell. She's called New News app alone. Numerous up along. We're called Vu separately. Whew that really you're cold. And they're called. The reflexive pronouns are the little words you put in front of the verb to make it reflexive and to change the verbs meaning slightly. It goes more. Meaning, I do something to myself. Is you yourself? He, himself. She herself knew, knew we ourselves. Vu, vu you, yourself or yourselves. And they themselves. The new and vu reflexive pronouns are just new and boom, they didn't change at all. But the rest of them go to unzip. We've had so far utterly meaning to call sap Billy, meaning Took be called auditory to call oneself. There are quite a few reflexive verbs in French, and in this lesson we're going to cover a few of the more common ones. Firstly, though here's a verb that isn't reflexive, but that can be made into a reflexive verb. Lovey, Navi by itself means to wash. How would you say in French, I need to wash the car. Jb is one doula and a lava tube. Jb is one doula available to you. The verb lobby is a regular verb in the present tense and the past tense. How would you say in front, Murray is washing Pierre. Laugh, Pierre. Pierre. 42. 93c - se laver: How would you say in French he hasn't washed the car apart. Lavell, I've watched you laugh at you. If you make lobby reflexive, it changes the meaning slightly. Means to have a wash. Literally it means to wash oneself. Let's have a look at the conjugation of the verb ser larvae. Humor, laugh. Laugh means I'm having a wash. Laugh. Means you are having a wash. Laugh. Laugh means he's having a watch. Laugh. Laugh. She's having a wash. New, new new, new level. We're having a wash, valvular vu having a wash. And they're having a wash. How would you say in French, I'm having a wash. Now, humor laugh mountain. Mountain on. How would you say they're having a wash and then they're going to the supermarket. Is to laugh a pre inventory Superman. It is to live a pre involved or Superman. He's having a wash and then he's going to the beach. Laugh. A pre-event. A pre-event. I'm having a wash and then I'm washing the car. Lab aqueous your lab lab, right? You have love, love. 43. 93d - se lever: You've seen now that by making a verb reflexive, you change the meaning. So the action is being done to yourself or himself or herself, etc. Instead of being done to somebody or something else. In a reflexive sentence, you are the subject and the object. You love Lavoie to your lab. Lab A2 means I'm washing the car. In this sentence, you is the subject. Lavoie chew the object. But if we say GMR, love, humor laugh, that means I'm having a wash. Literally I'm watching myself. And x2 is the subject, is the object. So it's the same person. Jim means i, means myself. So I and myself of a subject and the object of the sentence. We've had so far up really meaning to call separately, to be called. Levy means to wash. Selavy means to have a wash. The verb live L E V E means to lift or to raise. Where we get the word lever from in English. It's something that lift something up. We get, whereas like levitate. Well we can make live reflexive and we get suit Livy means to get up, literally it means to lift yourself up. Let's have a look at the conjugation of slavery in the present tense. You'll notice that it's slightly irregular. It gains a little graph accent on the first ie. The two L and L conjugation, It's day means to get up. Zoom-in. Zoom-out means I'm getting up Zoom or lab. So you see how the first e in Lev has got that accent on it. Zoom or live. To the left, means you're getting insulin with Lev. He's getting up insulin. Insulin, which means she's getting up new, new level, new neural Yvonne means we're getting up. Removal of a valvular. You're getting up. Means they're getting up. How would you say in French, I'm getting up early tomorrow. Human to human told the man. 44. 93e - pratice with reflexive verbs: How would you say in French? If we get up at seven o'clock, we can leave early. C nu nu live on asset the bacteria to new, new new proof on bacteria to Marie gets up late. Melisa left that you can use surly with an infinitive carrier and you have to use it in the infinitive, but you still use the merge. How would you say I have to get up early tomorrow? You should motivate. You. Motivate Dodoma. We're going to get up at six o'clock. News alone, newly away as Caesar alone. They don't want to get up now. Universe, pastureland, a mountain or universe. What time do you want to get up to two or getting up at seven and the train leaves at eight. Lev asset, the asset, their back the winter. We've had in this lesson so far, meaning to call separately, meaning to be called larvae, to wash. Steel lobby. To have a wash means to get up. 45. 93f - se rendre compte: Here's a reflexive verb that comes as part of a phrase, haunted, count, haunt, or count. It means to realize or to be aware. The actual verb in the phrase is a Honda. That's the bit that you conjugate. The word count is just a noun, so it stays the same throughout the conjugation. The literal meaning of savant while count is a little odd. It means to make oneself account. It's probably best just to learn it as to realize. The verb, Honda is actually another way to say to make fair is used a lot more though. Just not in this phrase. Means to realize. Let's have a look at the present tense conjugation of this phrase. Hong Kong. Gmo Hong Kong. I realized tutor Hong Kong, Hong Kong. You realize Hong Kong. Hong Kong. He realizes Hong Kong. Hong Kong. She realizes new, new, new, new Han. Don't count. We realize VU on the count, WGU on the comp. You realize is the Honda. Honda. They realize when a verb is part of a phrase like so haunt or count, it's called a phrasal verb. The phrasal verb means both to realize and to be aware. If you want to say, I realize that the word for that in this situation is, for example, GMO, Hong Kong, PL, Nevada, Jima haunt Count. Pierre knew the AMPA. That means I realize Pierre isn't coming. Or literally I realized that Pierre isn't coming. In English, the word that is optional in the sentence, but in French, the curve must be used. In fact, if the word that can be used in English, you have to use curtain french. Another example is GMO, Hong Kong, Hong Kong Qi data. That means I realize it's late, or I realize that it's late. Zoom Hong Kong to kill it. 46. 93g - to realise: How would you say in French? Newman also see when you have a negative sentence, the nerve comes in front of the reflexive pronoun, but the word pack comes after the verb, so it's ulna. So Honda Honda maneuver nozzle. See how would you say PS doesn't realize that Marie wants to come. So humpback on Kumar, He veneer home, back on Maggie veneer. I realized that I haven't finished, but I wanted to go home now, Jima, Hong Kong, goods you need Bethany, measure value, shame what mountain on. That's four of the most common reflexive verbs that you can use in a lot of conversations. All you have to remember is that they are normal verbs, but you just have to put the little reflexive pronouns in front of them. The reflexive pronouns are made for myself, for yourself, for himself, for herself, for ourselves, Vu, for yourself, for yourselves, for themselves. I'll leave you with those four verbs for now. But we'll learn some more as we progress through later lessons. 48. 93i - let's practise - English to French: It's time now to practice what we've been learning in this lesson. She's having a wash. A wash. New, new level. They're having a wash. Very useful verb in French is fair. Fair. It means to do or to make. Let's conjugate the verb fare into the present tense is quite an important verb. So if you can write it down and start to memorize it, that would be a good idea. Means I do or I'm doing to fie. Fie, you do or you're doing. He does or he's doing or she's doing. On Fei. $1 or one is doing new phase on, new phase on we do. We're doing woof. Woof it. You do or you're doing it for fun. They do, or they're doing phone, cell phone. They do, or they're doing in the feminine. The verb fare also means to make. So here's the conjugation again with the second English meaning GFA. I make when I'm making to thay you make or you're making he makes or he's making she makes or she's making one makes were once making new phase on we make or we're making will fit. When are you going to do it? Coming back to the fair? Fair or content, we will refer constantly bullet fair. Let's have a look at the past tense conjugation of the verb fair. Fair means to do j phi j. I did or I have done to FA FA you did or you have done NFA? He did or he has done? She did or she has done one did or one has done news avant phi phi. We did or we have done what you did or you have done is on phi is on fee. They did or they have done is on phi is on fee. They did, or they have done in the feminine. For example, if you said, if you fail at a lab, what you love, what you, it means I'm getting the car washed. Literally. It means I'm making wash the car. So a literal translation doesn't make sense, but you fail, means I'm getting washed. And then the thing that you're getting washed, His love what you do you feel. I'm getting the car washed. In English, we can either say I'm getting the car washed or I'm having the car washed. They both mean the same thing. I didn't want to have two different ways in English. But in English the construction is half or get Prusa noun plus the past participle. For example, I'm having the car washed, I'm getting the car fixed. I'm getting the house cleaned. Always have. We'll get plus a noun plus the past participle. In French, the construction is slightly different. It's fair. Plus an infinitive plus a noun. Fare plus an infinitive plus a noun. Napa fail a quiz in Napa felt like cuisine. Is somebody doing the cooking. If you already back in one suitcase, you would use valleys in its singular by removing the S, and it's a feminine noun. So you would say GFA my valleys. Gfa my valleys. Which means I'm packing my suitcase. Let's have a look at all the different possessive adjectives so that you can conjugate the phrase, fair, say valleys fully. Don't worry if they're not 100% clear in this lesson because we shall cover them again in later lessons. Iliac, exact amount Danone is tangy. Edl. Exact amount Danone is added on my course, I let her energy. Here's a similarly structured time phrase, iliac exact demo, visual iliac exact mode, when? This one means exactly eight days ago. But you can use it to mean this time last week. We literally means eight days. So how can we can translate it as this time last week? Well, the French referred to a week as being eight days rather than seven. And it dates back to the Romans who actually had eight weeks. If you think about it, it's sort of still makes sense if you count the days inclusively. For example, if we start on a Saturday and end on Saturday, we have Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday. And this makes eight days. However, nowadays, the French say we as opposed to set, simply because it rolls off the tongue better. It sounds nicer to French is to say visual than to say set jewel. In a similar fashion. The French say casual. Casual can rule means 15 days literally. But you can use it to mean a fortnight. You'll hear quite a lot. 74. 95e - huit jours: In this lesson so far we've had Jet de, meaning I was you were he was she was on a day. One was theorem. We were at TA. Murray was here this time last week At ADC, iliac, exact among visual TDC, exact among USU. Here's a very useful word which you might recognize from a common expression that we use in English. It means already the Asia. As I said, you might recognize the word deja from the little phrase that we sometimes say in English, Deja vu. Deja vu. The phrase Deja vu is used in English when you feel like you've done or seeing something before. That is the literal meaning of the phrase itself. It means already seen Deja vu. You were is that they were as they were in the feminine exact amount. This time last year. This time last week can be used to mean a week. There are literally it means eight days. The GMO J or Abby vu Deja vu Deja emoji. Has he already seen me? Mattel Deja vu. Deja vu. Have they already arrived? On till daga? Daga. Here is another meaning of the word deja can also mean yet when it's used in a positive question. When you want to use a positive question that uses the word yet in English, you would use deja in French. If you use it in the past tense, the word deja goes between the aqua and the past participle. Even though in English the word yet tends to go to the end of the sentence. For example, add to the Jaffe need today Jeff, funny. Meaning Have you finished yet? Literally, it means have you already finished today, Jeff, funny. How would you ask, have you eaten yet? Deja vu. Deja vu, Deja vu the job. How would you say, have you seen PA yet? Can be used to mean a fortnight. Means already. Or it can also mean yet, if it's used in a positive question, as, have you done something yet? 78. 95i - still: Here is a word that you've learned before. Last time we learned that it means always, but it has another meaning. The word to draw rule can also mean still. It's a funny thing in French that the word for always is the same as the word for steel. It can occasionally cause problems for Frank people when they try to speak English. I remember once when I was younger, we had a French exchange students staying with us. She said to me, Karen, your mother is always in the bath. I thought it was a bit rude to say that, but then I realized she meant to say, Karen, your mother is still in the bath and she was just let me know to draw. Rho can mean still or always. How would you say in French, is he's still here? It is to draw. I see visually see. The difference between still and always is actually a tough one for French lenders. I've heard a lot of French people say things like, is he always here instead of AC still here? How would you say I was still in front this time last year. Jt to draw on false exact demo unknown force in the exact amount. Anna Marie is still at the restaurant. Maggie, a2 or a1? A2 or Hester Hong. I'm still hungry. G2, G2, G2, G2. Everybody is still here. Too. Lamont aid to draw. Hesi, A2. Joel, He's see. When you want to say, yet in a positive sentence, you can use deja, as we've said. However, if you want to use yet in a negative sentence, you're really going to be saying, not yet. Which is peasant girl. Pass on. Not yet. How would you say in French? I haven't seen PA yet. June a pass on corporate VPN. Vpn. You'll literally saying, I have not yet seen Pierre is you need VPN. 79. 95j - not yet: How would you say in French? No, not yet. Not pass not pass onco. Native pass on Cauchy. See. I haven't been to Paris yet. Genesee baton call, Halle Berry shouldn't be passed on call and I lay upon, literally in French, that sentence means I haven't gone to perish yet. Don't forget that Ali, meaning to go is a verb of movement. And that's why we say Genius suite bow rather than Geneva. Agency pass on call Halle at bye. 80. 95k - before: How would you say in French, I haven't done it yet. Generally pass on coffee. Coffee. He hasn't had the car washed yet. In the past on coffee, lava, lava to pass on. Coffee, Love it, love A2. Finally, I'm going to give you an extra meaning for two of the words that we've learned in this lesson. The words they pass on CO, can both be used to mean before the Asia and pass on. Now, the Asia and peduncle don't mean before in every situation, you've already learned the word oven, spelled AVA and T, which means before. Actually, you can put a little word, Kerr after potato, potato, potato curve. The curve is optional, but if you don't use it, there is another thing to remember with pathetic. If you don't use the any subject and verb that comes afterwards must be inverted, so it must be switched around. If you do use the Kerr, you don't have to switch them around. Let's have a look at some examples so you can see what I'm talking about. Perhaps he's coming tomorrow. Well, let's look at it with the current and then without the potato key to the on demand. But that's likely Leander man. If we use the after potato, then we can just say he's coming tomorrow, you'll be on Duma, potential killed V and demand and the shortens to QU apostrophe in front of the word evil. But that's why kill via demand. If we take the current away, we have to say potato V and T demand. But that will be until demand. We invert the eel and the V and V and T. But that's where the anti lumen, so EDS a potato kill the undermine or potential V until demand. They both mean perhaps he's coming tomorrow. Maybe she isn't here. Well, if we use the curve, we say potato, PCC. Pcc, we say potato. And then we can just say she isn't here. Anybody see? Again, the shortens to QU apostrophe in front of the word L. Pathetic. Anybody seen? If we take away that may have to invert the L and the a, we get Petra natal PCC, but that's handled by Zc. They both mean the same thing. They both mean maybe she isn't here. But that's like getting a Pi DC potato in enthalpies EC, maybe they're not going now. Well, let's try first with the tetra kilo Nevada Mountains. Potatoes, ketone Lavon, permanent unknown. We say PUT that to occur. And then we can just say the normal sentence. They're not going now even though on permanent known. But that's how cuneiform permanent unknown. You can either say potato kilovolts or Montana, or potato new Von Till permanent known. And they both mean, maybe they're not going now. 90. 96c - maybe: How would you say in French? But if we take the a out, then we have to switch around new proven and we get potato. But that's what we were. New alley Pluto. How would you say Maybe Pierre is here? But that thought could be at ITC. But that took a Pierre ATC. We can take out the curve and we get potato. Potato Pierre. Perhaps they have already ordered PUT data keys on day Jack, Monday, put that turkey is on the go. Monday. Put data until Monday. Until the jack on Monday. Perhaps I'm too tired. Potato, sweet potato cookies with fatigue. Or we can take the current out and we get potato, sweet potato, sweet potato fatigue with occur. We say potato occur. But then if we take the code out, we have to invert the shirt and the suite and we get tetra 312 fatigue. How would you say in French, maybe he isn't coming. But the AMPA potato, newbie anti-A, anti-B. 91. 96d - envoyer à: How would you say in French? Perhaps it's close today. But that may be if we take the code out, we get per data, film me. But data may be. And I've used eel because I'm presuming that we're talking about something masculine like luma exam, which is the shop or at home, or locked in, which was the restaurant or the hotel. If it were a feminine noun, then we would say Pathetique, Getty, family or potato. Tell me, how would you say maybe they've already left keys on the jetpack. Tea protects the keys on the jetpack. Ti, ti, ti, ti, ti. Maybe they haven't left yet. But that's my key on some pass on call back t potato, Nissan till pass on Copart. But that's what Nissan tilde pass on capacity. In this lesson so far we've had W2, which means usually per data or potato occur. Which means maybe or perhaps. Then you can say either potato wrongly, which means maybe he speaks English. Or if you take the route you have to invert and you get, put that top. Normally, maybe he speaks English. Unmute trades u tilde. Here is a very useful word. On VIII or on y. It means to send to on. Firstly, the at symbol is called our bars in French. However, most people just say at like an English. I've also heard people say Shea CHEs. Secondly, if you want to say the dot as in.com, you say. Thirdly, the word for underscore is TRA. Hey, if your email address was Pierre underscore belong at gmail.com. You would say Pierre de blown at gmail.com. T highbrow blown at gmail.com. There's just one more thing to note with the T bar. Lot of French people nowadays simply say underscore in English. However, you may also hear T of a do eat, TLA, do eat the underscore. You'll hear as T bar underscore DID. But what is t? I mean, if you have an English keyboard, look across the top, you'll see the first six letters, QWERTY. You'll often hear them called a QWERTY keyboard. On a French keyboard, however, the layout is different. The first six letters across the top line, or a z. Z. If you look on your keyboard, you'll also see that the numbers have little symbols which you can access by holding down the Shift button and the corresponding number. The symbols on the keyboard or different to acquire to keyboard. If you look at the number eight on a French keyboard, you'll see that the symbol is an underscore. The word TLA means dash in French. Factories means the post woman. Animal is an email address. Email is an email address. The at symbol is pronounced at, or sometimes our whole bars. The underscore is either t or t. Hey, do we eat? And then dot is one. Now as you most probably already know, you can put a little m in front of a verb to make the action happen to me. For example, prove a Vu. Prove a woman. Means can you see me? Well, similarly, you can put a or a two t0 in front of any verb to make the action happen to you. I can see you palpate you shouldn't do pulpal. I'm not speaking to you. I'm clearly on what I'm sending you a parcel. In English, sometimes these words have a two in front of them and sometimes they don't move. For example, can mean to send to me or to send me. Can mean to send to you. Just to send you. Can also mean to send to you or just to send you to send to us or to send those. For example, to send us a letter.
