Getting Started with Procreate

Procreate is an internationally lauded platform that novices and pros alike use to illustrate, sketch, animate, and paint on iPad and iPhone.

While Procreate has many tools that are wholly their own including templates and brushes, it is most commonly used as a replacement or supplement to software in the Adobe Suite like Illustrator and Photoshop.

The app has become popular with illustrators, designers, and those looking to break into these artistic mediums because of its ease of use, flexibility, and versatility in the kind of art one can make. Many have noted that unlike other software, Procreate actually feels like you're drawing something – that it captures the tactile feel of putting pen or pencil to paper. Perhaps best yet, the cost is under $15 and is a one-time purchase, so there is a ton of value for a relatively low expense.

From surface patterns to animated illustrators to hand lettering, the possibilities are truly endless with Procreate (so long as you have an Apple device!). It’s worth noting that Procreate is best used on an iPad with an Apple Pencil to aid users in their creative endeavors.
