Getting Started in Graphic Design

Graphic design can feel like a daunting industry to step into – there are principles to integrate, software to learn, and countless incredible professionals to seek inspiration from. However, with countless resources, teachers, and classes at your disposal, there’s no shortage of places to jump in and start designing!

A starting point could be to consider what is most interesting to you within graphic design. There are so many different avenues you could take – do you want to design logos? Are you more interested in illustration? Character design? Book cover design? Pattern design? Typography? Calligraphy? All of these areas and so many more fall into the overarching world of graphic design. And while you can take a generalist approach and dabble in each one, finding a specialty that excites you is a great place to start.
