Here at Skillshare, our community is lead by a spectacular group of teachers, but Jessica Hische certainly sets the bar. In fact, she’s a living legend in the design industry, and rightfully so.

Jessica is an award-winning designer known for her hand-lettering and type design. Even if her name doesn’t ring a bell, you’ve probably seen her work in some shape or form—whether it’s crafting the typeform of the title sequence for Wes Anderson’s Moonrise Kingdom from scratch, or her work with UPS’s special-edition, love-themed stamp entitled Forever Hearts.

In her latest Skillshare class, Logotype Masterclass, she speaks to these experiences, personal techniques, and more. In it, she offers an inside look at her personal method for refreshing type­-based logos.

Jessica is behind many of the logos we all know and love, and some of her most notable projects actually stem from personal projects that she created in her free time. After graduating with a degree in Graphic and Interactive Design, Jessica worked in a few design shops, before ultimately going on to become a Senior Designer at Louise Fili, Ltd. But after two and a half years of lots of lettering and little sleep, she left to further her freelance career.

Jessica has an array of clients that are undoubtedly household names. Her roster includes the likes of Tiffany & Co., The New York Times, Wes Anderson, Penguin Books, Target, Leo Burnett, and Wired Magazine. She’s also earned a host of accolades along the way; she’s been named a Print Magazine New Visual Artist (20 under 30), one of Forbes’ 30 under 30 in Art and Design, an ADC Young Gun, and a Person to Watch” by Graphic Design USA. She’s also currently serving on the Type Directors Club Board of Directors.

To celebrate her newest class, we wanted to showcase some of her amazing work in the flesh (or in the font, if you will). These logos exemplify Jessica’s sought-after style in the world of lettering and design.
