the Kings Cup

The King’s Cup

It's a fool's errand, I admit,

And I was the fool once, twice, and perhaps now I still lack the wit.

I chimed and danced, calling all to witness the wonders of entertainment.

I was a great fool, the best in the arrangement.

And so the King granted me many sips from his cup.

No matter, I was never able to reach satiation.

No matter my investment, desire, or deliberation.

For I had not yet learned of my own cup,

Or, moreover, that what I sought was really a bowl!
