nothing but poppies

nothing but poppies - student project

I really enjoyed practicing all the ways to make loose poppies. They all have a different look and were fun to paint. This was the first I have ever used masking fluid. I found the tip about putting Saran wrap on your finger to rub off the masking fluid worked like a charm! No residue left over.

Comments are always welcome to help me improve my technique. I am still trying to get a handle on the ratio of water to petals, so I will keep practicing with that.

Here are my thumbnails, supplies, and practice sheets.

and more practice with petal making using different types of brushes.

Project 1-stylized and 2-transparent layered.

Project 3-expressive and depictive and 4-loose style.

Project 5-freestyle.  The paint pools I had down were too big so they were making messy blooms that were not very pretty. I decided to bring out the layers of blooms with colored pencil accents. I liked it better after that. It seemed to make the messes more purposeful.

These all have a different feel and are rather happy flowers. I really enjoyed the process.

Thank you for looking at my project.
