I thoroughly enjoyed this one Will. As always, your class was inspiring and perhaps less intimidating looking than the portraits I usually attempt (although they challenge me and are a firm favourite of mine😅). This was calm, peaceful and I managed to complete this class faster than the others. A bonus is that I actually allowed myself a little bit of freedom with it - well, by accidental design really (you call them happy accidents). My horse dried too quickly (something else I need to work on - I am too cauteous and often paint too dry with my waterclours), so I couldn't drop colour in. I decided to to leave it & let it dry completely, and then took another aproach: I took your paintng as reference photo & placed it as well as my painting upside down and just started adding mid and dark brown tones. The result was less overthinking (as it activates the right brain) and a more organic, natural result instead of copying every single stroke and dot from the lesson (ironically, what you also encouraged in the lessons of this class). So, I am therefore very pleased with this one and think I mght re-visit my favourite portrait class of yours in perhaps the same fashion. Just for fun and to see what comes out. That will have to wait until next weekend though.
