Hi Shannon! Thanks for an AMAZING CLASS! I super needed it because I love to create patterns, but the process of making it seamless is so grueling!
My style in pattern-making is definitely more of a linear toss. I tried to make a linear toss guide, but I ended up not using it, and experimenting through trial and error (however, your lesson on how to move motifs around in Illustrator is extremely helpful in speeding up the process!)

These unicorn illustrations were made for my Skillshare class that I just published a few weeks ago, and I had been meaning to turn them into a pattern!
Initially I only used four unicorn motifs, but I had the hardest time placing them without repeating two of the same unicorns close to each other, and so I used a fifth unicorn motif to break things up a bit. It might be a good tip for a pattern like this to use an odd-number of motifs.
Secondly, I found that there was a bug in my Illustrator CC when I was testing out my pattern-- the overlapping of the elements keep going out of place like below:

So I ended up testing my pattern in Photoshop.
Anyway, hope you like it!
