Tiny Florals
Thank you, Yasmina, for another gorgeous class with so many valuable tips! ♡
My "watercolour" florals turned into something else by the end. I mostly did my own thing after the warm-up exercises. Painting loosely is still a challenge to me. I must practice more this part. But overall I enjoyed working on this project a lot. Even though it took me a while to paint/draw one tiny floral vase, I managed to be quicker than usual! :D
The warm-up exercises.

My first tiny florals in watercolour and ink plus watercolour. Maybe a little bit too detailed? My favourites are the onse drawn first with the fineliner.

I started this project using watercolour paints and I continued with water-soluble wax pastels (Caran d'Ache Neocolor II). I used them with water as normal watercolours and dry as pastels on black paper. In the end, I even tried mixing the two techniques to explore more possibilities.

I had some leftover paper pieces so I made a few more experiments. :D On the black paper, I tried mixing Neocolor II with white gouache (the only gouache that I have).

The final pieces for the project.
I picked a tiny floral from my doodly-style experiments and one from the black "leftover" tinies. I changed them a little bit and added more details.
For the first floral, I used Neocolor II as watercolour and I added some coloured pencils on top for more contrast and vibrancy. It looks more like gouache to me, maybe because Neocolor II is quite opaque if used with less water.

The black version. I didn't dare to darw/paint directly with colours, so I roughly sketched the composition with a white pencil. Then I used Neocolor II dry and mixed with water and white gouache. I coloured over the painted areas with dry Neocolor II. I added highlights with a white gel pen.

The end!
