Thinking About Focus

I've taken a few courses about focus now and realize I'm looking for something different, or that I define focus differently. I don't really have distractions, it's more a problem of getting started (for which Pomodoro bursts can help) and then keeping momentum. One technique I found while looking for things to help me pay close attention during a long workday was a breathing technique: Each time you take a slow inhale to a count of two, but your exhales get progressively longer. In 2, Out 2; In 2, Out 3; In 2, Out 4; In 2, Out 5, and then repeat the cycle a few times. It's a quick mental and physical reset, hopefully it's of use to someone here!
