Talking To Your Future Cosmic Self

Talking To Your Future Cosmic Self - student project

I've been a fan of Jing's work for a while, it was fun to follow her polished, yet simple process.

Fairly easy class to follow for intermediate Adobe users, and I did this in a single morning.

Sketch: Thumbnailing

I like to think my future self has had an even wider range of human experiences. I thought of talking to myself at age 100, or myself at the end of the year. Or even talking to myself past an earthly life?

I'm used to doing stick figures for thumbnails for speed, but I think Jing's thumbnails show clearer composition, which would be necessary if the ideas needed to be immediately understandable to others (like me!)

Sketch: Drawing

I ended up choosing the last thumbnail, and flipping it, so it reads left to right --- present self to future self. I love thinking of somewhere, there is a sage, cosmic version of me.

Illustrator: Building Shapes

It was good to warm up the vector handle muscles! And I found the Black and White values exercise very useful, as it's something I can consciously add to my future process.

Photoshop: Applying Textures

Textures (Noise filter), and Gradient Overlay layer effect. I liked Jing's tip about how these last steps is just about adding that extra 10%, and it shouldn't be overwhelming.

Thanks Jing!
