I love the delicate feeling of this piece. It's simply beautiful.

Your painting is beautiful, Christine, it has such a lovely light and colour to it. I know you felt you made a mess of it, but I see a really warm and atmospheric result, really amazing depth. The reflections in the water and the glow on the hillside are very effective. I am so glad you enjoyed the class and found it informative, you did a wonderful job. 😃

Yes, it is a bit flat but not boring. What you have is a subdued work that is perfect now to add a small boat in the lower left. That would make the whole scene really pop.

Actually, after being in a 4 day watercolor class in Santa Fe recently, all I think you might need is some more darker values. That would make things really pop!

I understand what you mean, but the softness creates a very calm and serene scene. You know how it goes; if you were to paint it again, the next version would be entirely different. Lately, I have been focusing on my own creations and painting each one two or three times, which is giving me a new perspective. This process is helping me loosen up and not rely so much on the visual cues that I typically depend on. It’s an art therapy idea I came across from someone else with aphantasia. I love learning new techniques! 👍
